I had a terrible experience with this law firm. I work with them on purchasing a property. I never have seen more ignorant, unprofessional and irresponsible service to customer. I am a university professor and have an extremely busy schedule. Working with Tarnowecky Law firm has been unnecessarily time consuming. Their legal assistant, who I worked with, was not knowledgeable and/or experienced. For a simple routine purchase paper work I have sent tens of emails and tens of phone calls. First of all, they assigned a legal assistant for my case but kept changing the assistant. Only a week before the closing date, and only after I sent several emails and made several phone calls, they set an appointment time for signing the documents and sent me the statement of adjustments and fund summary for my purchase. I submitted the bank draft matching with the amount stated in the fund summary to the firm but, only two business days before the closing date, they sent me an email and informed me that they made mistake in the statement of adjustments and fund summary and I need to pay extra $4,300 before the closing date. The next incident was when I made my final walkthrough the just a day before closing as it was scheduled, but found about 80% of promises in our agreement with the sellers not done. My real estate agent contacted the sellers’ agent and they said they will get it done before the closing. It was my first time purchase of any property in Canada so I contacted the lawyer and informed them and asked if I can be granted another walkthrough in the morning, before the closing. They sent me an email and confirmed that I was granted another walkthrough. The time was set so I went to the property and waited out of house in the street for a while before I was informed by my real estate agent that the sellers’ lawyer did not allow another walkthrough. I contacted my lawyer and found out that she was out of office so we waited for an hour in front of property and made few more phone call to finally be told that my legal assistant made mistake and I can not have another walkthrough. Total waste of time! The, next incident was when I ask their office to send me binder including all the paperwork related to the sale which naturally I should receive within a week or two after the closing date but they did not provide it to me till a month after the closing date. After making few phone calls finally they told me they will leave the binder at front desk and I can pick it up anytime after a certain time and date. I went there a day after the provide date for picked up but the documents were not ready and I end up waiting for 45 min in the waiting room during pandemic when any unnecessary contact should be avoided. Another incident was when the sellers’ lawyer sent an official request to Tarnowecky Law firm, so that the sellers can stop by in the property to seal the holes they made somewhere in the roof, I agreed with their request by replying the firm’s email but never heard back. There were several heavy rains and I could not locate the holes in the roof so I called Tarnowecky Law firm by phone but my first call was hanged up by the legal assistant without even a word. I called again and when finally she answered the phone, she was not even aware of my emails. I asked her to let the sellers’ lawyer know about permission and ask if the sellers can not make time to come for repair the roof at least let me know where the holes in the roof are so I can take care of those myself. She told me that she will but I never heard back from her. After many calls and talk with their management, their lawyer got back to me a few days later. Overall, in such a short term interaction and for such a simple case, I had awful experience with Tarnowecky Law firm, they made too many mistakes, and their ignorance and lack of professionalism make the worst example of a law firm. I have and will let all my friends and real estate agents who I know in person, know about their service, do not refer the client to them and avoid working with them.

The 2 lawyers I worked with both in the present & the past were Zorian & Yuri. They have always been very professional & personable. The communication from the admin (Michele) is not great... she was emailing my partner about a home he was never owner of instead of emailing myself - the previous owner. We told her to stop communicating with him as he never owned that house and she continued to only reach out to him which was incredibly frustrating. She also had my moms previous house address completely wrong when I first purchased in 2018 & never fixed it again in 2023 after we informed her about the mistake. The City overcharged me for the property taxes and told the law firm that if I wanted a refund I would have to pay $30+ for their mistake. I told Michele that this should be refunded free of charge and that I would appreciate it if she could inform the city about this. Instead she had the new owners of my old property send me the money as the overcharge was credited to my old property's taxes.. so then she got the new owners involved and made them reach out to me personally to send me the overcharged property taxes... seemed a little unprofessional to me, in my opinion. Additionally, there were a few typos in our agreements... such as our house address and my partners name which was a little surprising as these are 2 important factors. The closing itself went fine for the most part (other than the few above comments made by the admin team.

I've dealt with Ivana and Yuri himself a few times now both of them are very personable. I would highly recommend. They are quick and efficient. They are also very thorough in their disclosure and explanation. Their staff could use a little bit of soft skills training just a bit. But Ivanna and Yuri themselves are amazing to deal with. The boss lady and her father is a father and daughter team. They specialized real estate transactions. it seems that they've been in business and quite establish for quite some time now being second generation at this point I just can't tell you how long.

This group is awesome. From the front staff who greet you to the assistants and lawyers. Nothing but positive to say about this business. They were polite, friendly and still very professional. On each appointment they have been quick, and thorough and on time. They clearly want to help you and it shows. Their fees are absolutely reasonable. Very poor internal communication hired to do a simple refi no work ethic put into completing transaction had to call and get my own payouts (thier was two) which I have never heard of before although some possible fault lies with mortgage broker I used and no one fact checked any numbers hopefully actually closed deal before they left for the day no one confirmed will never Recommend Edit owner did reach out to confirm deal was closed today Thank you

Have used them in the past happily, but things are changing over time and their new systems are impersonal and their phone people and secretarial are not informed and do not provide the service this form used to provide...form letters and limited in their responses. They are no sure who will do your work anymore or what or when you will be contacted. If you want personal service, this is not the place.

We used Tarnowecky Law to purchase our first home. The communication was poor from staff and when issues appeared in our home they told us "buyer be aware." Felt like we might as well have burned the money we paid them because it was not worth the money. For first time home buyers I highly recommend spending the extra money on a lawyer who will support you through this purchase.

They helped us out with our recent house purchase. They discovered an error on the listing and we backed out the the deal saving us huge headaches and 10's of thousands of dollars.
