I have never been able to understand why people buy a thriving business and then change everything. I have been here a number of times in the past 15 years when it was under the original owner and subsequent ownership. I have not been here for slightly under a year but today I discovered that there was no longer a choice of bread for sandwiches as I was told "We only have multigrain." In other words, we will not slice any of the other loaves we have on our shelf? In any regard, the bread is now sliced much thinner than previously, the turkey in the sandwich was sliced thin like turkey loaf instead of being more like turkey breast. The chili was a distant cousin to what it used to be: there was about 6 kidney beans in the whole bowl; there was WAY too much chili powder used in the making of this batch (I will NOT try the next batch to find out if this was a mistake) and it was WAY too salty! Does the cook not taste his product? Why on earth did you change what was being done so well for so many years? I can only guess that you do not want me back as a customer: wish granted!

If you want some good takeout pie in the lower mainland, this isn’t the place. Go to Gabi & Jules in Port Moody instead. I was there on 26 November, sometime between 6.20 to 6.30PM. I ordered a slice of the blackberry crumble pie for takeout. This male employee starts cutting up my slice from the pie and looks like he’s struggling to cut it out. The slice he’s cutting up for me looks like it’s about to break apart but I trusted he knew what he was doing so I didn’t say anything. I want to note that he takes awhile in cutting up my slice so I go up to the counter to pay for it first. Right after I get home, I open the box and I notice that the slice of pie I received was completely mangled - I’ll attach an image of this. That employee obviously thought that this was completely okay to serve to a customer. I ordered a slice and not broken pie bits.

After reading some reviews and looking for a great pie place i decided to try tartine and they did not disappoint!! The banana cream pie and the coconut cream pie were delicious! We also tried the soup and sandwich daily special and it was amazing! Large flavourful and fresh. The only thing that couldn’t be salvaged was the dirty chia. Staff was very helpful took them back and she added 2 extra shots of espresso without question. But still didn’t taste right, I did notice they used tim Hortons tea bags maybe that’s why lol. I will be back for sure. Finding a place with good customer service, delish food and healthy portions for a good price is a rare find these days. If your in the area or even if you are not( I wasn’t) give them a try!

I've been a customer at the Beach Ave., location for going on 7 years now and I've always enjoyed their baked goods, sandwiches and lunch specials (Meatloaf Monday's is one or my favorites). I've gotten to know the staff and in general I think that they're all great. However, I've noticed that they've been getting out the fresh baked bread later and later during the day and I often have to go back repeatedly to get a loaf. I know that they don't always have it right at opening (7 AM), but you'd think they'd have the bread ready by 10 AM or 11 AM. Fortunately I only live next door, so I don't have far to go, but really, when "bread" is one of the main words in your name, you'd think you'd have it ready on time, or at least by 9 AM.

I actually had to have them repeat the price of a frozen dessert pie because I assumed I had misheard: $30 Morbidly curious about this luxury pie, I bought a $7.00 slice of sour cherry to go (no fork or napkin offered with the smashed piece I was given) The filling is what you would expect from a can, and the crust tasted, and smelled, like a savoury pie; I don't know if it's because they're stored together, or if they don't clean their surfaces properly, but it was incredibly pronounced. It was as if someone had made a beef pot pie, scooped out it's innards, and poured cherry filling inside. Do yourself a favour, hop over to Granville Island, and get a much better pie for a third the price.

The first time I visited I was helped really well and the lady was very friendly. However, when I came this morning and asked for a bread (which is not a strange order for a bakery), the girl explained me the bread was meant for the sandwiches and the other breads would be available at noon. I asked if it was possible to buy one slice of the bread for my breakfast. This was absolutely not possible. I wonder why, either sell it as a sandwich or as a separate order, don’t see the problem. If you call this customer service, you loose a loyal customer here.

Best bakery and coffee in the neighborhood. Their chai latte is also perfectly spicy and not too sweet. You can't go wrong with their pies and they are constantly on rotation. We tried the apple with sea salt caramel and absolutely loved it. Indoor seating is limited and they do have a few outdoor tables under an awning. Highly recommend this spot if you're in the neighborhood. Also If you're there around 12pm you can see the hanging chandelier down the block spin! Cool piece of urban art to take note of if you come here.

Was addressed very rudely by a server when I first walked in, who brusquely ordered me to put on a mask. Yes I had forgotten to don my mask on entering, and immediately put it on after the server ordered me to. Then I reflected on how she had spoken to me and walked right out of there and up to Fresh Street Market coffee shop where I got a delicious breakfast sandwich and scone with smiles and friendly service. Tartine, you lost my business. Plenty of other bakeries nearby who manage to hire friendly and polite staff.

It's ok, but honestly, for a bakery that specializes in pie, their pie crust is not that great. It tends to be soggy on the bottom, and not buttery or flakey enough. I'm always left a bit disappointed. ETA: I should say that their pies were always quite good back at their old location on Davie St., but everytime I've gone to Beach (now that the other location has closed) it hasn't been that great. Not the same taste. Not sure if they have new management or something but probably won't be back.

A week ago I ran in and grabbed a blueberry bran muffin…it was a brand muffin that had 1 blueberry and 1 rasin. Today, I had the work and didn't have time so I ran in an picked up the Thai Chicken soup…there is no chicken in the chicnek soup. I give up on you my lovely neighbours. Since I can bank on your food leaving me hungry, I'll simply go hungry before I spend another dime.

Ordered 2 items and I got 2 chicken pot pie with extra beef in it? Not only was this absolutely not what I ordered, but it was incredibly disgusting! I threw both of them away after eating just one bite. Absolutely horrible. Also received an extremely soggy and flavourless breakfast bagel without the extra bacon requested - but hey, they made sure to still charge me for it!

We searched for a Vancouver bakery to order a birthday treat for our daughter who had just moved to Vancouver. Tartine popped up, we read some good reviews, checked the menu and contacted them. Staff were super accommodating for this long distance purchase and we completed and paid for the order easily. Daughter walked over to the bakery on her birthday and picked up the tasty treats! Thank you Tartine! We will visit in person on our next trip west for sure.

I liked it. I had the blackberry apple crumble pie. It wasn't overly sweet like most other pie places. It tasted more home made. The staff were nice. The bathroom was nice too. It seemed to be popular when I went in for lunch. They have coffee and all kinds of other foods like breakfasts and stuff too. I'd definitely go again, probably more for pie, but it would be nice to pair it it with an oat latte or something next time.

This place use to wow me with their drinks. Lately they are actually pretty bad. Atleast 4 times this month I've received drinks that don't taste right, I asked for a new one and they did make me it and it was fine. The point is this just keeps happening. Today I got two chicken pot pies and they were cold in the middle. I noticed the staff has been changing quite a lot. It must be tough.

I really don’t want to complain, I really like this cafe. I think maybe there are new people who need to be trained.. but I got a hedgehog mocha that tasted entirely like chocolate - no espresso and a tiny bit of milk.. it was like drinking a horchata or chocolate fondue, not really something I want to be drinking for $6.. I just wanted to let you guys know

Just put out a pumpkin pie at our family camping trip. Before I could blink it was gone. Amazing little bakery this place is. The pies are always so good and this one was no exception. Not too sweet. Soft crust. Rich flavour. Can’t fault it. I usually get the banana cream pie (hands down the best one they do) but we deviated for once, and it didn’t disappoint.

  • Rinat S.

Great place to grab some bread and croissants. We often pop down in the morning to get fresh croissants and pumpkin seed bread. Very tasty baking! I'm not a fan of their sweet baked items such as brownies or cinnamon buns. Although the butter tarts and delicious! Good coffee and friendly service, I will try their sandwich one of these days.

The oatmeal coconut cookie is a sleeper hit for me. Unique and delicious. Also an EXCELLENT latte. Also the mini tarts make great treats to bring places. I get enough for everyone to try each flavour. Turkey sandwich and the Chicken Santa Fe are both very tasty. Have not had a chance to try any other ones. I am too focused on the treats.

Smallest cake ever and very expensive! I bought a strawberry cheesecake and it was horrible. The taste was way too strong and it was solid way to many cheese solid cream filling and no crust at all. Terrible expensive and bad experience. It is in my neighborhood few steps from my house but sadly I will never come back there again.

Love Tartine! One of my fave pie places in Van. Sour cherry is always a winner with me. The Elvis is fun with an unusual combo of peanut butter, chocolate ganache, banana and lavender meringue. Sounds unusual but it's delicious! Just tried the vegan chocolate. Surprisingly rich, tasty and creamy - keep up the great baking

  • Elvin

I generally visit here during peak times, so the wait can sometimes be long for food, but you can't beat the value and taste/texture of their avocado toasts! I haven't had the chance to taste their pies, but the definitely look great and fresh. The dining area is clean and spacious and the staff are fantastic.

  • Bibiana Crespo

The bread and the pies are great, but the lattes are always way too hot and taste like burnt milk. I keep coming back with the hope that it’s a one time thing, but the scalding milk seems to be the norm at this place. There are better places for coffee if you’re not looking to have your entire mouth burnt.

So glad I found their other store. Order by phone, pickup or order in-person. Protocols all adhered to. Only 2 persons at a time allowed into the shop. They also have a few sidewalk tables OR go a block east to George Wainborne Park and enjoy your coffee and delicitables, overlooking False Creek.

Local cozy place with a good variety menu from coffees, tarts, pastries, soups & …and of course its pies. As I consider this place as a local business, I expected more welcoming and maybe a bit well priced but except that I give 4 starts. ($7.5 for medium size oat milk cappuccino & small tart)

  • Konrad Kulis

Always happy when I order from this place. Everything is fresh and priced fairly ( no $16 sandwiches or pies here!). Good variety of items. Only downside is that there are no sweet items! A small selection of sweet tarts or pies online for those of us who cant get to them would be awesome.

Oh, how I love this place! I used to go to the Davie St. location before it closed and then learned of this one. I have loved every single thing I have tried - bread, sandwiches, soups, pies, brownies, cookies etc. You honestly cannot go wrong. And the staff are super nice too.

  • Cecilia Cheung (A HongKonger)

Their sandwiches and coffees are excellent. I have been buying multi grains loaves (sliced) from them for years for my breakfast toasts. Recently, every other slice is thinner than the other. They said their machine has become like this and they can do nothing about it!

  • Jordana Dodek

My favorite place for pie. Great place to stop for lunch or snack. They have tables outside so you can sit with your dog. I love the mini egg on a biscuit or the breakfast sandwich also on a yummy biscuit. Their cinnamon buns look amazing I will have to try next time.

  • Bernice Ho

I love their brownie so much that I came back for many times:) Unfortunately the piece I got today was different from before Although it’s salted caramel brownie but every bite was very saltedI can barely taste the chocolate I hope they keep the quality constantly

  • Jamie L

Had their soup and sandwich. reading other reviews, we must go back and try their pies. The place was super busy, they have two tables inside and a couple outside if you’re staying. It’s more of a take out place nowadays with covid. Felt rushed to finish our food.

  • Elizabeth Rodriguez Javier

The best pie all their bakery is fresh. They have many options and ask for a special or promotion every day. I love the sandwich, wraps, bagel breakfast, merengue pie, and all the small tartines are delicious and also an early morning sugar-free muffin. …

  • Kevin D

Came here once while on a baked stroll of the seawall, no regrets. Amazing pies; I've had a few of their pumpkin options (they have multiple pumpkin pies!) and the banana chai cream pie. A great spot to stop while cycling as well. Plenty of outdoor seating.

  • Shaun Prince

One of my local coffee shops. They seem to specialize in pies, but they also make my favourite mocha. The staff are very friendly, always smiling and making me feel important. I really do feel special when I decided to grab coffee there on my way to work.

  • Cheryll Palmer

Ordered a Lemon Meringue Pie online (from New Zealand!) for delivery for a special persons birthday in Vancouver..it arrived exactly on time, looking delicious and with Happy Birthday on it! Thank You so much Tartine Bread and Pies you are awesome!

  • J M

Perfect amount of glaze on the cinnamon buns & big slices of flaky pie just like my pasty chef dad used to make. Butter tarts are yum Finally fantastic service. On my Food Tour. Thank you for making my belly happy again! …

  • Abhidheya Wright

Extremely disappointing avocado toast with the thinnest slices of avocado, for a ridiculous price. Shameful. Nothing else vegetarian on the menu. Go to the Davie St location for better food & menu. Will not return!

Tartine bread and pies have the best homemade breads and pies in town! Location is also good if you want to walk outside. View is fantastic and don't miss out that biggest hanging chandelier when it's turning.

Oh my. Met a friend for coffee here yesterday. The most yummy homemade tarts and carrot cake. And such friendly and welcoming service. Thank you I will most definitely be back ... Jennifer …

Aiden needed a quality lunch during his swimming break at Vancouver Aquatic Centre. Always great quality of food and terrific staff. A must try as the beef chilli was awesome as were the sandwiches.

  • Review Kid

The food is barely ok, the customer service is down the drain. The lady who introduced herself as the manger is farthest from providing a healthy dose of customer service.

  • Michelia Alba

The pies were good but I like the butter tart. I ordered apple pie and raspberry rhubarb ginger pies. I also ordered London Fog tea. It was really good, not too sweet.

  • William Szepesi

Had one of their excellent not too sweet pies and a coffee outside on their small but quiet sidewalk terrace. Self serve, friendly and quaint.

  • Gal N

Small and quiet place, with great atmosphere and service. The cakes looks good, we didn't try this time.
