I do not recommend using Tax Calgary. This is my first year filing my taxes owning a rental property- I have no idea how to file my taxes for a rental, that’s why I need an accountant. I received a bunch of intake and rental intake paperwork. The rental intake paperwork they give you is fairly straight forward but I wasn’t confident I was pulling all the information correctly from my rental documents to the intake form. The receptionist did not like the idea of me dropping off my supporting rental documentation and only wanted only the rental intake forms. I voiced my concern a couple times that I wanted an accountant to go over my supporting documentation to ensure my intake form was correct- that form is what my taxes are based off of. I had all of the required paperwork but Tax Calgary wasn’t interested in going through my rental insurance, management fees, maintenance costs, morgage interest, property taxes. They wanted me to pull all of this information for their intake form without checking the supporting documentation to ensure my taxes would be filed correctly. I called a Liberty Tax and they happily told me to bring all of my paperwork and it’s an accountants job to ensure the information is correct against the documentation I provide.

Excellent first time experience with Tax Calgary. I contacted them in November 2021 in preparation for the upcoming tax season. I filled out a questionnaire and asked how much it would cost for my family. The price being reasonable, I forwarded them all our documents to process by late February and our tax documents were submitted to the CRA on March 14th 2022. What I liked about the whole process is: 1) All the personal/confidential tax and income documents are sent (back and forth) using a portal, so no documents actually float somewhere as an attachment to an email. The risk of being intercepted by malicious people is nil. 2) The people (Olga, Saad, Rodica, Masha) are easy to deal with. I will definitely use the company again next year.

For the last couple of years I have done my tax with commercial software. I began this again this year, but I was having problems getting answers from the software packages advisors and getting incorrect contact numbers to contact the CRA myself (hours on line!! - I bailed). Enter my sister who recommended Tax Calgary. Tax Calgary were tremendous, even finding a benefit that the software deduced I was not eligible - (maybe I entered something incorrectly?) They were way less stress and no more expensive than the level I was pursuing on software. I wholeheartedly recommend them and they have a client for life.

We used Olga to file our taxes at the recommendation of my partner's mother. The Russian community seems to prefer her, deservedly or not. Instead of the simple process that an income tax return should be, Olga filed under the wrong address, causing the mail from the CRA to be diverted to somewhere we do not live. Olga also neglected to inform us of essential permission forms we needed to sign, and ended up causing me to owe money to the CRA, despite being a full-time university student working part-time, and my partner being the same. You'd be better off filing yourself. I would never recommend Tax Calgary.

We really enjoyed working with Olga. Her accuracy, attention to detail, care for the minimum taxation of the client, the ability to advise on various issues in the field of accounting and taxation, as well as a very pleasant and businesslike way of communicating with the client, cause respect and a desire to continue cooperation. It should be noted that the cost of Olga's services is significantly lower than that of our previous accountants. Terrible. I received a pre assessment review letter from the CRA. I reached out to Tax Calgary and Merushka Lalla began correspondence with me. She assured me she could help. I assigned them as my legal representative and had several email sback and forth. After some time had passed she sent me an email informing me they could not help me and suggested I deal with the CRA directly. If I wanted to deal with the CRA directly I would have done so. Complete waste of time. Useless and unprofessional people.
