"Unusual church carved into rock with skylights & a copper dome"
Interesting church carved out of bedrock. It was built by two brother architects in the 1960s and is famed for its acoustics. It’s a bit expensive to go in (8 euros) in my opinion, but an interesting church nonetheless. It’s actually quite small, that is why the price seems a bit steep for me for what you get. Lisää
It has a remarkable structure that beautifully combines nature and modernity. The church is carved into rock, resulting in an interior illuminated by natural light pouring through the skylight. The incorporation of exposed rock walls and a copper dome brings together a touch, enhancing the overall atmosphere. Lisää
It's one of the top sights to see in Helsinki. However I don't think it's as deserves as it's made out to be. 5 eur entry. Opens pretty late, at 12. Big line at the opening. Usually tour busses go there. Small gift shop inside. Can spend maybe just 10 minutes inside. It's definitely unique though. Lisää
Wouldn’t bother using 8€ for this (or double if you’ve company). It takes you 2 minutes to walk around the church and unless you’re a fan of architecture it’s just not worth it - in the video you see it all. I suggest to visit a nice bakery and have a coffee and fine pastry with the same price. Lisää
Unusual church carved into rock with skylights & a copper dome. Quite striking but we only viewed from the outside. The dome is from 22kms of copper strips. You can climb around the rocky surroundings to view from almost the top. You can pay to go inside, which looks amazing. Lisää
As a tourist spot, this pace seemed overhyped in my opinion. The inside of the church is serene, but there is not much to see other than the copper ceiling with skylight, for which a ticket priced 8 euro is high. I have seen 100 times better architectural marvel than this. Lisää
The pros : original place inside a rock and with an impressive metal roof. From the outside doesn’t look like much but inside is much more impressive. The cons : entrance fee of 8 euros is on the high side for a visit that will take a few minutes at best. Lisää
Beautiful church carved into the stone. We visited on Monday morning and it was quite quiet and amazing to see. Also, wonderful team! I was chatting with the lovely lady from the gift shop, Soili, and she was the kindness person! Thank you for everything! Lisää
The church looks cool from the outside, but please, pay the small amount of admission fee and check out what's hiding inside. The workers there are really kind and cheerful, and the church is absolutely stunning. You can take the stairs to … Lisää
This was on my must-see list and glad I got to experience going inside. Unless you’re in Italy, church has never been on any of my itinerary but this was a one of a kind unique contemporary church built out of a rock. How many churches do … Lisää
If you are coming to Helsinki, this stop is an absolute must. It is truly a unique experience and would highly suggest attending some type of concert - the acoustics are impressive. Important point - know where the entrance is at hahaha. … Lisää
For a place that charges 5 Euro per entry, the place felt underwhelming. Sure, the interior of the church is an architectural sight, but it feels like a ripoff just to enter the church and spend less than 30 minutes in it before feeling … Lisää
The architecture itself is great. But the management of the place is AWFUL and completely kills the environment. I believe there was to be a concert in the venue in the evening that day, and there were people preparing for the settings … Lisää
Beautiful and very peaceful. Ideal place to do your prayers and Quuet Time. There is always a soft muzak playing although personally the selection could be more serene to complement the ambience. Beautiful architecture and design. Lisää
Great place to view an architectural marvel in the heart of Helsinki. €5 to enter, probably spent 20 min inside just walking around and snapping photos. It can get pretty busy but it’s definitely a cool place to see in person. Lisää
A beautiful, quiet place to visit in Helsinki. The copper top and the organ is impressive. You can hike around the back and see trees growing on top of it all. It was crowded but we were able to get tickets and go right in. Lisää
Beautiful and unique. You can climb outside on top of the church (free) and also have the option to go inside (€5) which is worthwhile as it’s really nice to see more detail and wander inside the church Lisää
It's one of the most stunning churches I've been too and a brilliant example of contemporary architecture. It has a great calming vibe and is divided into 2 levels. View from the top level is better. Lisää
An amazing church, the entrance looks like a bunker, but once inside the fascinating interior opens up - especially the roof. We were glad to have come across Croatian excerpts from the Holy Bible. Lisää
This is a church built inside a rock, it's a unique landmark because the way it was built, there space feels very open and has a lot of natural light. Noticed the work on the ceiling, is very nice Lisää
The place itself is stunning and beautiful. However the entrance fee is extremally high. And extra donation for a candle. So it was a spot I wanted to show my child but wouldn't come again. Lisää
Beautiful architecture and very peaceful. The music played was making you feel really divine.. must visit and experience the blend or natural rock cave and ancient architectural design. Lisää
Really cool church as I've never seen one built into a rock wall before. It wasn't that busy during the day which was great as you had time to just sit and soak in the view. Lisää
I'd highly recommend a visit to this beautifully natural church, cut into the bedrock. The design is exceptional, from the copper ceiling to the bare rock walls, with … Lisää
Probably the most important and also extraordinary church in whole Suomi-Finnland. A very impressive place of inspiration and interest with a breathtaking architecture Lisää
Overall, this is a nice church built from rock with a huge copper ceiling crown. The entrance fee of €8 is not worth it as I was done in less than 10 mins. … Lisää
The church is beautiful. The only issue is that you need to pay 8€ to enter. The most expensive pictures i took. Either way is a must to see in Helsinki. Lisää
Interesting church but heard it’s no longer as vibrant as it was as a worship place but more popular for concerts and weddings. Sad state of affairs. Lisää
Place to see in Helsinki. Great architecture. Love the stone & copper. Unique experience. Also music on visits sometimes.
