We used to be regulars here until we moved to Brooklyn. So we decided to go back to celebrate my best friend birthday. We were so disappointed. The waitress never came to ask what we’re going to drink. After sitting there waiting for 30-35 min I called her over. After she brought the drink we waited another 20 min , so I called her again so she can take our orders. We ordered appetizers and our main entree and told her to bring the food out once it’s finished. We don’t wanna have our appetizers first than wait for our entree. Takes longer that way. Anyways she brought the appetizers , they forgot to add pepper in my papaja salad but it’s ok. No worries. The fact that we waited over an hour for our food which was ridiculous and it wasn’t even busy. We deliberately told them to bring out what was ready. The waitress never came to check on us also. After we got our food they forgot to bring the birthday girl’s food. We waited another 30 min for hers while our food was already cold in no time. They brought it and offered her a drink that was on the house. Our waitress never ever came to ask if we want anything else or if we’re good with our food ( Never came to check on us )….. maybe I’m too used to other restaurants doing this. But this is actually costumer service which they’re lacking. So after we finished eating we waited a good 30 min for them to clean our table because we wanted them to bring out the birthday cake. Nobody ever came. I asked them twice to do so. Walked all the way inside because we were sitting outside. When they finally came they put all the nasty dishes at the side and brought out the cake while doing so. It wasn’t pleasant for my video. That’s one reason why I asked to clear the dishes out of the table because I wanted to Capture the moment for my girlfriend who turned 50 years old today. But had to do it with dirty dishes on the table. After that we paid and asked Rob’s wife if ill get credited because I placed a reservation online and paid $35. I understand the no snow policy. But what if you showed up ?? I mean everywhere else they will credit you your reservation fee if you show up. I’ve done this multiple times because we go out like 3 times a week for dinner. And those are high end restaurants. This place is not a high end restaurant and they’re taking your money just like that. When I explained to Rob’s wife she had an attitude and said “WELL THIS IS THE ROCKAWAYS” and immediately walked away which is find very very rude. I should have read the fine prints. But because nowhere else does this and thought I would Be credited I didn’t bothered to read it. But the way she spoke threw me off. The whole staff to the owners wife is unprofessional. Will Never go back here. I will have to update my other fellow rockaway friends about this restaurant and their behavior and costumer service. Super bad !!!!

As much as I hate to give a bad review for a restaurant but seriously This food must be the worst Thai food I’ve ever tried. First when you walk in in a restaurant on Sunday early evening you think you will be greeted or acknowledged that you will be seated instead you listen to very loud person on the loudest speakers which went on all nigh. After half hour I asked someone who works in kitchen if I could seat myself which I did and cleaned my table. 1/2 hour later you get a server who was nice but not knowledgeable. I ordered drinks and all the food one shot in case I won’t see my waiter again ! Here comes the mango Salad which was terrible and dressed in sickening vinegar tasting something which was very unpleasant and when I asked for some dressing to fix it a little I I was told that it was dressed! ( too bad ) then comes fried shrimp rolls and it came with raw shrimp inside! Then the entree was sautéed vegetable cashews eggplant with roasted duck choice as a protein it came fried and the sauce had terrible flavour and everything was fried! Thank God for the plain rice. I mentioned that the shrimp was raw they took it back and came another which was ok but I was done eating ( 1/2 hour later ) ! Paid $150 gratuity and kitchen service fee was added ! I don’t have no problems with the prices but they also made up a price for the sautéed dish with duck for $45 instead of $38 as it says in menu but no big deal if it was good ! Honestly the kitchen people can’t serve one deep fryer item ! Not to mention we both got sick after that unpleasant tasting food which lasted for all Monday . Seriously I doubt if the manger or the owner even care! Won’t be back. I hope the owner read this so they can get more serious about serving other people this kind of horrible quality and tasting food.btw I was a professional chef and cooking instructor for more than 20 years. As much as I know how hard to work as a chef or a cook but they should be ashamed of this food quality ! Any of my students would have done much better job . THAI ROCK !! get serous. My experience was BOTTOM ROCK AT THAI ROCK!

I was in the mood for Thai tonight and a friend found a place in the water we were hoping would have the outdoor seating available during this pandemic of 2020. Behold found this place next to Cross Bay Bridge by Beach 92nd st and Rockaway Beach blvd. Because of the pandemic, they were not open for sit down for another 2.5 weeks. The place is right next to Bungalow and upon arrival, you may think its a small place due to the small entrance. The place opens up in the back on the water. We placed our order by yelp and it said at least 30 mins before it would be done. We arrived there 45 mins prior to closing. There were a few people waiting for their pickup orders, and we decided to wait until they all left for social distancing. When we got in, Robert greeted us and let me tell you, he was very welcoming and gracious for us to come. They also prepared cocktails from the menu. Of course you are not allowed to drink outside, only for takeout. The lychee martini was to die for. Maybe I had not had one in a while with the lock down, but it was damn good. I had 2 of them and made me a happy camper. I ordered Tom Yum soup, fried calamari, mango salad and house fried rice with shrimp and squid. The calamari was not oily at all. The Tom yum was good and flavorful. The mango salad was really good, i almost went back for another one. The rice was not bad. May have been a little pricier than I expected. Brought it home to my son who left not trace of it and at 11pm. The drinks is what really made it. When I woke up the next day, no ill effects and certainly no headache so they use good liquor. I would certainly return to try more items on the menu, but i would definitely return for Robert who was just so open and welcoming. It also seemed most regulars who were picking up knew him well. What a great demeanor!

Guys this place is awesome!First of all when you first enter, there’s an outer space that I highly recommend . They are directly on the water and at night there’s such a pretty view of the water in the Bridge it’s so romantic. Bring a partner or a friend or a first date here. They will be impressed. However If you go at night be sure to bring a hoodie or light jacket, because it gets windy by the water. This place has a Michelin star and that really means some thing for the menu. We highly recommend ordering the scallion cake. It was delicious and very unique from other places we’ve been to. They had really delicious pad Thai And a cashew nut tofu option. The staff were really kind but a little understaffed unfortunately so it took a while to get the orders in. We really like to here and will definitely pay another visit.

Absolutely love Thai food, this place was a huge disappointment. Literally everything I ordered was underwhelming, to say the least. The wait staff was nice & pleasant enough, just disappeared for stretches. Only five people in our party, two ordered no alcohol, but somehow the bill was nearly $400. Even though I am usually an overtipper, was not a fan of 18% gratuity included, cause it seems the staff knows they are getting theirs regardless. Also, odd thing I never heard a restaurant do, the told person who was going to make reservations that there is a $30 separate charge to make a reservation. No get it back or encompassed into your bill. But $30 to make a reservation. Is this a new thing?

used to come here before covid days and this place was awesome. But now unfortunately it is missing the talent and the generosity served on the tables. food was served in portions. steaks were served first and whoever didnt order steak had to sit and watch. the food portions are way smaller tha they used to be and twice as expensive. waiter and waitress are horrible and dont accomodate any changes to the meal . the one desert that i always comefor "rasberry bomb" THEY DON'T HAVE IT!!! i broughtout my family from out of state and promised them that this will be the best thai experience they will have and we all drove in from staten island but this place turned out to be a shame. i will never come back here again after coming here for 9 years

  • Kunal Datta

The place wasn't busy as would be expected ,on a winter Wednesday, of a place that is better experienced in the warm weather so I'll have to come back in the summer for the true experience. It looks like they have live band performances too so that is also a nice. The ambiance was great with great music and the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable on food allergies. They helped me pick out my meal with my dietary restrictions in mind. The food was amazing and definitely worth coming back for again! Worth a visit if you're in the area or live close by!

You definitely get what you pay for with this place. I'm sad that it is so expensive but I'm very rarely disappointed when I order from them. I would recommend considering your spicy level when ordering and ordering one level down. Or asking for spice on the side. Me and my family love spicy food and sometimes it has been inedible because the heat was so intense. But I will say the flavor is definitely there. The vegetables are crispy and fresh and the rice is always cooked perfectly. Delivery is fast and in-house dining is beautiful at any time of the day but especially at sunset. I've ordered from them for many years and I will continue to enjoy they're food. It's with the price. Just know your spice tolerance.

  • Margaret D'Arcy

Food was delicious as always ! Portions are huge and full of flavor! The pork dumplings were hearty and truly exceptional! The chicken satay was tender and full of flavorful spices especially with the peanut sauce! The ginger pad was light and full of fresh vegetables! The pad Thai was good however I think a little more veggies can be added to this dish to update it and make it healthier! The best part as always are the jalapeño margaritas that are absolutely delicious and have the right amount of spice to leave you wanting some many more! The music last night was so much fun JJ’s Funky Groove- Fleetwood Mac , Stones , Tom Petty et al- was fun to sing along with dance too! FUN NIGHT AT THAI ROCK

  • Lizz Nieves

Very disappointed. Food was good but not happy spending over 100 bucks and being served on paper plates and plastic utensils. My food came to me in a clear plastic container. Appetizers came in an aluminum foil tray. It was like order takeout food and staying in. It started to get dark not enough light. I asked why we were served on paper plates and wasd told because of Covid. I was like what...I have been to other restaurants and they served on actual plates and metal utensils and glass cups. Food was good. The waitress was very nice. Just don't like being served on paper plates and plastic disposable trays. Bad for the environment as well. Food was good.

  • Jeff Z (JZen)

Would have given 5 stars for the taste of the drinks and food but the service was so poor it deserves 3 stars at best. They weren’t very busy and the waitress was not personable, inattentive during our whole visit, didn’t remember (or care to remember) our request for no straws even though she made the drink herself. Then we had to ask the busboys (who were nicer at least) since we waited so long after we ate for any service to have a coffee. The coffee was forgotten. I had to then pay extra for the coffee since the bill was paid and no apologies about any of it. Will come back for the flavor of drinks and food but service was horrible.

  • Nigel Ragoobar

Always come here to eat. Food is good and service isn't bad. Tonight has to be the worst experience I have had any restaurant. They said they are understaffed and can only seat outside. Bit chilly for my baby, but ok. Ordered 4 meals, 1 appetizer, 2 glasses of wine, 1 beer and a pineapple juice. Got water, wings, food came. Order was wrong. Took it back to bring the correct 1 order. We all just finished eating water is done and none of our drinks ever came. Don't visit here and waste money until they can provide service you are paying for

I have been going to Thai Rock for years, and I will never go back!! The service was deployable, and the food was just ok. The waitress couldn't be any rudder. She was annoyed that we asked for water, and she was annoyed that we took too long to order, and a meal that we requested for mild spicy was very spicy . When we complained, she said that's the way it came, and we were stuck with it! Finally, annoyed again, she said fine... I'll get you something else, but you pay for both!!

I am so upset I found out about this place after I left ny. I had the chicken dumplings fried, calamari and the Thai chicken fried rice. All were different in a fantastic way. The dumplings had great flavor and were perfectly fried. The calamari looks like it was breaded with some sort of cornmeal. It was one of the best I had in the area. And the fried rice was one of the best I've had in any restaurant. It's a great place on the water with some great views of the skyline through the columns of the bridge. A nice break from the wave of seasonal hipster crap that takes over the Rockaways.

  • millan11697

I always stick to delivery and food is always delivered fast and accurate. Delish food as always! Portions are big enough for leftovers next day. Been eating there in the past but found service to be rather slow. Need more attentive servers for sure! I also dont like the $5 fee per seat. This is why i stick to takeout or delivery cause the food is that good not to:)

A little bit pricey, but most of it was worth it. The appetizers were great - the Lime shrimp wasn't bad, having a very authentic sauce at the base. The real winner of this place was the steak - It was made to perfection and I would really really recommend it. The service was top notch with our waiter taking great care of us and our drinks, and the only complaint that I would have is that the Lava Cake and Cheesecake are mediocre at best, definitely not worth getting (Dessert is the last thing you remember from the restaurant so don't feel cheated with it!)

  • Eileen Latoni

Update : watch the automatic added gratuity almost left a 65 tip on a 130 bill because almost missed it . Was surprised to see it added on since there was just 2 of us . food is good . Favorite is the seafood salad , super fresh and just the right amount of spicy. Love the yum beef salad also , the steak is tender and seasoned perfect . The pork and chicken skewers are also really good . The drinks are bit pricey but the food is good and the drinks are cold so we deal with it. The owners are always there so that is a huge + . The food never disappoints!

Really cute place! The scenery is lovely, food is great. I didn't get to stay for the live band but my friend says they're great! I will say it is a bit on the expensive side for thai food however I'll say that you pay more for the scenery, band etc. It's by the water so I saw some watersports nearby i.e jet skiing, small boat rides. I'll definitely come back with my friends again to get the full experience of the watersports and live band. Overall great place!!

Despite the difficult situation of Covid limitations on dining, it was a nice family dinner next to the Bay. This time we were very happy with our waiter compared to our previous experience two years ago, such is why we hadn't returned until now. Food has always been great and still is. We didn't have to wait long , even for a party of six in limited space. They are doing a great job at turning tables but making sure guests are happy, and we were. It's worth the wait to sit on the water and enjoy some good food during a difficult time.

  • Uday Sripathi

Great food, great views and great atmosphere which is perfect for a couple or a group looking to have a good time. The only thing that’s keeping this place from achieving perfection is service. No one knows who is coming in first and when they were offering tables to people who came way later than us, we spoke out and then they finally gave a table to us. Then began a long wait for a waiter to give us the menus. Thankfully the food was amazing and we had a good time.

Good is always good at this place but service could be better. We stood in the doorway for at least 1/2 hour as the host took 3 or 4 takeout orders on the phone while we waited to be seated. Someone asked us if we were waiting to be seated so we thought they were going to seat us but then he told us to wait for the host, frustrating. Bottomline, if you're not in a rush or too hungry to wait, the food and ambience are good.

This is a nice place. It has lots of decorations that makes you feel in Thailand. The environment was quiet and my friends and I were able to have a nice conversation at the bar. The server was around but did not interfere with our time. The food was not to my expectations. I ordered chicken pad Thai. It was not the best. I have tried better. It had too much sause, it was too sweet and sour. One could taste all the spices, which to me it was not delicious.

  • Glenn DiResto

Hands Down the best Thai food in NYC. Not only is the food terrific, but the drinks and atmosphere are as well. Perfect place to sip cocktails and enjoying quality food while checking out the beautiful sunsets of Jamaica Bay with live music, what more could you ask for. Weekdays are always a more relaxed and enjoyable experience as weekends in the summer can get crazy.

This place is such a waste of space. The food was not edible, not even the rice was good. The service was right on par with the food, terrible. A table of four and the food was brought out staggered, just the way nobody wants it done. Let's not forget about the live music that bungalow bars music next door completely drowned out. The $400 check for rice, a duck and a skirt steak was the cherry on top. Terrible experience, but has a good laugh.

  • Dani Su

The star is for the view and location. I really would say that they need more servers, for all the tables they have they need servers and bartenders. The check come with the 18% gratuity included but they don’t care about to give a quality attention. Other restaurants give great attention and don’t charge the gratuity in the check just as suggestion. One cup of juice came with a long hair from the bartender. The servers forgets some plates.

  • Eesha Suntai

HUGE pieces of plastic found in every dish I ordered! Pad Ginger, Pad Thai and Calamari all had plastic in it. Oh and the calamari had pieces of plastic caught in the center and fried with the plastic, it appeared intentional at this point. I don’t know if I should take legal action or not, but this was the worse experience I had ever had in my life. I’ve ordered from Thai Rock before, and the food was delicious...never again.

  • Nick Rowe

I hate restaurants that bring the appetizer and the entrée to you at the same time, especially when you're alone. I had to wrap up my dinner because it was sitting out getting cold. I should have stayed and tasted it though, because they steamed my broccoli in water that was also used for shellfish. So unpleasant. I want to like this place, and I have been here several times, and most of them sucked for one reason or another.

  • Bryanna Jordan

I’m giving this place 3 stars because the food was good but the waitress we had was not helpful. We asked how many dumplings you get and was told 6 but she never mentioned that you only get 6 with certain kinds. We were livid to only get 4 and only got a half butt apology from her and a giggle. The bill was astronomically high for the little stuff that we ordered. I will not be going back but the ocean view was nice outside.

  • M P

Well maintained family business. The wife runs a tight ship in the open kitchen. Some of the best Thai dishes are deliciously prepared and presented. I try to have something different every time I go and I have not yet been disappointed. Nice selection of desserts. Nice decor, handsome bar and stunning sunsets. Entertainment starts at 9pm on the weekends...out on the deck in warm weather.

  • Nicole Monet Rizzo

I LOVE this place and go here often. Some of the best Thai food, really good stuff. The kind of Thai restaurant that makes you feel like ordering something besides Pad Thai or Red Curry, although those are delicious too. Stunning location on the bay with a view of sunset and the NYC skyline. They have side businesses in the summer, renting jet skis, and the Tarzan Boat!!

  • Svetlana Fomina

Had Pad See-Ew Noodles and it was the tastiest. The beverage had good strength. It was a quiet relaxing atmosphere, even though I know they have live music events sometimes, it gets pretty busy during those times.

Went here for a lunch on a weekday. The staff was very friendly and the ingredients were fresh! Probably the best authentic Thai food on the island. You'll get some amazing cocktails at the bar and if you go during the summer they will have a BBQ out on the patio with some music. They also have a watersport dock right next to the patio.

  • Moreno Black

I absolutely love this place!! I've been to several Thai places but this is the only one I've visited where there's a water deck. Sitting outside, sun shinning down while sipping on a thai iced tea and savoring a pineapple fried rice, PRICELESS. The staff is very friendly and many of the dishes are quite inexpensive.

Live Music, Loved the scenery of Ocean, Food was good, not a fan of the soup though, but if you are familiar with the culture it shouldn't be a problem. Decent Service. You have the option of sitting by the Ocean, in Favorable Weather. Parking is a little difficult at times, might have to park a block away.

  • justin wong

Great location, can watch the sunset closely but the dock. Food was great! Very authentic taste. They have children menu as well which was great, since we have 5 kids in the group. They have a full bar and live music. Parking was a little difficult out front, we parked in the McDonald's park lot next door.

Loved the live music, atmosphere and drinks (highly recommend the Thai iced tea with rum). Food wasn’t as flavorful as other Thai restaurants I’ve visited — I definitely recommend requesting hot sauce. Service was slow, despite a seemingly full staff and not totally packed restaurant.

This is a really cool spot. A must go to if you go to Rockaway beach. The food was delicious, the drinks were really good, and the atmosphere was like an escape to a Carribean island.

Wow where to begin? First of all, parking is a mess. It's not even a lot just a space in front for people to pull in stupidly. Servers took forever to even acknowledge us. I tried

A nice neighborhood joint. Wonderful views, friendly & accommodating staff with pretty good food, especially if you like spicy. They also have a Live Band that plays great oldies.

The best Thai food in the area for sure. Even some great northern Thai dishes! The jet ski rentals and crazy bouncehouse boat out back just makes it thst much better!

$19 for this! Now, I wouldn’t have mind the price of the food if it had any flavor. Improve on the flavors add some spices and veggies come on! Not worth the price!

If you don't read the whole review, here are the key points: 18% gratuity is already included in your bill but they don't tell you, beautiful view, tasty food.

The picture speaks for itself! Very scenic location. The snapper and fried Thai rice was very good. The snapper is not deboned so look out

They have really great views, the service is good, and the food is really yummy. It's a treat to come here but it's a bit pricey.
