We really had an awful, almost disturbing experience here last night. Bartender Miguel has always kind of been rude, and a little dismissive. He very much makes you feel like you are not someone he ever wants to talk to and makes you feel almost guilty for ordering drinks because he is so bothered all of the time. I have always felt like I annoyed him every time I have come in, and you can tell who he likes by the service they receive. A lot of people just take it for what it it is, because it’s “edgy” and definitely plays into the dive bar vibe the Aristocrat is know for. My friend and I were sitting at the left far end of the bar and he was primarily gravitating towards the other end of the bar where he seemed to be more familiar with the patrons. I smiled at him, I waved, tipped an empty drink, trying to get his attention and was either flat out ignored or he just didn’t have anytime for a solid 30 minutes. The Bar back Mike (AN EMPLOYEE) was making out with a DRUNK customer over the bar and then disappeared to make out behind the red curtain to left of the bar. I am guessing why Miguel was running around doing everything (I have video if the owner is interested, and so does Miguel because he stopped screaming for a minute to ignore us and pull his phone out to record) which also brings up some very important questions of consent and professional conduct. We had been there for an hour, had one drink, and my friend who was with me “said, hey we have been waiting 30 minutes to get our drinks”, at which Miguel proceeded to lunge over the bar Ariel-over-the-rock-style and SCREAM in her face. I completely shut down and my fight, flight or freeze (FREEZE for me) kicked in. My friend yelled back, because it was so uncalled for it was jarring. We asked for our check, and he did not acknowledge the request and proceeded to be loud and gruff. When we I left I was fighting back tears with my heart beating in my ears. I am a native Austinite, and while I may not be a bar fly here, I have been coming here on occasion most of my adult life, never have I EVER experienced anything like this at any establishment. It’s a problem. So, unless you’re a patron who comes here regularly prepare to be ignored, talked down to, possibly even yelled at. Also expect Miguel to rile up all the patrons for an absolute s-show ending to make sure you’re adequately shamed if you dare to stand up for yourself.

We walked in in and it was the type of place we were essentially looking for. dark, lounge, good whiskey. They had that. I walk to the bar, bartender approaches me with a stern voice and slight attitude saying " I need to see your IDs". Almost as if he already hated me. I complied and didn't worry about it at the time. I asked for 2 whiskey on the rocks and two shots of patron. his moody sounding reply " we don't have patron". Okay, I replied, what do you have? He storms off and points to a shelf behind him saying nothing. I could hardly see the bottles, as he returned the other bartender grabs one of the bottles he originally pointed at with attitude. When he comes back to me I asked what is that bottle the other bartender has? He looked me square in the eye and said "I don't know what you are talking about" and never turned his head to look what it was. My words to him were "are going to look or just gonna stare at me". Its a shame there are people in this world who treat you this way, especially as a bartender. Unfortunately I will not be back to this establishment because of this one really crappy individual. He was Caucasian, wearing a cap, and had a beard. I'm sure people will know who I am talking about. Needless to say, we left after our first drink. The taller African American man, who was very nice, closed my tab. Mr. attitude grabbed his cigarettes and walked out after he saw my girlfriend and I get up to leave, I guess to avoid further conflict or maybe he just needed a smoke that bad this entire time. The bartender who closed me out was the only reason I left a tip although I'm sure Mr. attitude got his cut. We did notice most customers hovering on one side of the bar, the side attitude was NOT working.
I tried to go to the Aristocrat Lounge tonight with some friends. I got carded -- unusual since I am a 31-year-old UT professor and obviously over the legal age -- but ok, it is understood that if you go out to a bar, you are expected to carry ID. I presented my ID and was told to leave the premises, because my ID is expired (I have to take an eye exam before I can renew my driver's license). This doesn't bother any of the thousands of other bars in Austin, or the TSA at airport security, but somehow disqualifies me from buying a pint at the Aristocrat Lounge. Bravo! Obviously it is within the Lounge's legal rights to deny me service and demand I leave the premises for any or no reason. But it boggles the mind why the Lounge, for reasons inscrutable, chooses to hassle and embarrass obviously-overage paying customers on a technicality.
OK spot. Good for pool, but from my experience the chance of having a good buzz was unlikely. Unsure of the bartenders name. I was there for 2 shots and he refused to serve me after that, saying I should probably "wait before my next one" but allowed many other guests to request and be served drinks on end. This wasnt the first time this has happened. One visit I waited up to 40 minutes before the bartender knowledged me for another drink, even after my gestures toward him. It felt like I wasted my time sitting there for my next shot when I could have gone elsewhere to make the buzz worth paying for. Will admit it was the least attentive bartending service ive had during my travels. Frankly, not my preferred choice of Austin bars.
Honestly I wish I could give this place more stars because the decor is beautifully unique but I've been here often and one a particular bartender has made my experience miserable even though I walk on eggshells to please him. I want to make this place my neighborhood bar and go so place but every time I'm here I feel judged. I've also noticed multiple charges on my card that weren't mine I tried to ignore it and give the place a benefit of a doubt but tonight was the last straw when the bartender went off on me and my friend and was very snappy. I will say the lady who bartended last Sunday Jan 29th was so sweet and amazing and made me wanna come back was great! But after tonight idk if I want to
The Aristocrat Lounge is a fantastic spot for a night out. The ambiance is chic and elegant, with comfortable seating and a well-stocked bar. The drinks are expertly crafted and the bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly. The snack menu is a nice addition, with tasty options to complement your beverages. The music selection is always on point and creates a lively atmosphere. Overall, Aristocrat Lounge is a top-notch establishment that is perfect for a special occasion or a casual night out with friends. I highly recommend it.
I've been here many times in search of a neighborhood haunt. They never remember me; it got embarrassing for someone trying to become a neighborhood regular. Jukebox is great, as are the prices and food trailer. But service team is challenging; classic industry vets who aren't excited by anyone who doesn't order what is normal. No interest in recommendations or upselling. Batch cocktails are not good; stick to the beer list. Won't be back unless it's the only option. Go to Lala's until these bartenders learn to enjoy their jobs.
Love this little dive bar!!! The space is very large with plenty of seating space and can easily accommodate large groups. The outside patio is also pretty chill. There’s a food truck on site with great pork sliders and fruit-infused liquors at the bar (my favorite is the fig-infused whiskey). The only downside is they typically only have one bartender on staff, which creates LONG wait times when the place is packed. But, all in all, great bar with good bartenders and billiards.
I keep coming back to this place because it is conveniently near my home and it is open until 2am. I like the ambience, but the bartenders always somehow ruin our time there. They cut you off after 3 drinks and embarrass you. They constantly under-pour to make a point. Its like their mission is to make people feel bad about drinking there. Isn't that bad for business? Its a try-hard dive bar. The bartenders suck. Think I need to find somewhere better.
Do you ever wonder what old Austin was like before all this mess? Come to the aristocrat formerly known as the poodle dog lounge in there since 1964 do you know how to make a drink Stark die but not to die be that you fear you might catch something the boots from the legendary white swan are there and all the guys are awesome. If you want to have the best old fashioned in town while listening to refused and Wu-tang and everything in between - go here
Chill place, good atmosphere. Drinks are decently priced and it has an outdoor area, plus pool tables inside. Parking's usually pretty convenient, either in the small lot in front or on residential streets close by. Doesn't tend to get a large crowd, so solid place for a date if you're looking for somewhere you can hear each other talk and don't want to be cramped.

Aristocrat is a good local "dive" spot. It's not my favorite but a good go to, to get away from the busy bar scene. Usually have good specials and cheap wells. They have multiple pool tables and a shuffle board table. They have ample indoor seating and a front and back area to sit outside. They are still observing social distancing protocols and requiring masks while you are up walking around. They also have a food truck for bites.
I only came here to get my heart broken. It was a stupid idea, because i knew that my -then- girlfriend was meeting her new flame there. I never tried any of their drinks, only asked for a cup so i could collect my tears and re-hydrate and cry some more while they made out. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO DO ME DIRTY, DARLA!? The staff was helpful and handed me a mop to clean up my vomit. Seems like a neat bar. 10/10 would reccomend.
Good atmosphere and vibes. Draft selection is limited but has a very GOOD limited selection. They do serve cocktail drinks. The margarita was very good and well made. This is a lounge, so the atmosphere is more a relax and talk with friends with a drink in your hand. Aristocrat does provide an outdoor area with limited seating and a smoking area. We all had a reality good night here and the prices were very reasonable.
Cool dive with great mixed drinks. Pretty dark inside but it works. The back patio is a little small but comfortably seats a surprising amount of people. I've heard the food trailer in the back is amazing but I have yet to try it. My only complaint about this place is it can take a while to get a drink, but I believe this is because of the attention to detail the bartenders are putting into there drinks.
Fun bar. They have shuffle board, pool, and skeet ball. Drink prices are reasonable and there is a food truck in the back that is excellent. The staff is friendly and quick but a little harsh about checking ids. A person in our group forgot their id (they were clearly of drinking age) and they made them leave the bar. They wouldn't even let them stay and not drink. Besides that out was a fun experience.
Aristocrat has done a great job of picking up the torch from the old Poodle Dog Lounge. It's become the go to bar for half my friends, my family and was me and my girlfriend's first date. It's dark and has plenty of private booths, good patio, awesome food truck, and limited but great beer selection in addition to very good signatures cocktails. Don't come here! (it'll crowd up the place for us!)
Nice place. Hello old Austin, meet new Austin! They really fixed up the Poodle Dog lounge! It still has the (sanitized) dive bar feel. Fun place to hang out. Don't go looking for drugs here anymore, it's new Austin legit. They've added some nice bar games darts and shuffleboard. Newer pool table. Place has been cleaned up. Nice outside seating. Nice staff as well. Cool place to take a friend.
Great vibe, awesome food truck, rude/snarky bartenders. I ordered a Manhattan and the bartender said "What's that?" and paused for 10 seconds. He then points behind and says what liquor. I go back for another drink and order a Hells Lager and he pours me an Electric Jellyfish. I don't have the time/patience for this. Won't be going back

I really enjoyed this neighborhood bar. There was a good range of beer on tap and I loved the outdoor seating area. Benches made from pickup tailgate was a great touch. We spent a couple of hours here late in the evening over a few slow beers and it was exactly what we had been looking for. Highly recommended

I loved coming to this bar until last night, Hispanic bartender with hat last night was so rude, he was very hostile with myself and other customers, he seemed intoxicated and was really ruining the vibes of the bar, tryin to pick fights , definitely not coming here anymore, very unnecessary drama to deal with when I’m just tryin to have a beer and calm night. Ridiculous.
Walked in tonight with my cousin. Planned to drink and play some pool. Automatically get attacked by male bartender for ‘stumbling’ in. Wow. We weren’t even drunk just FYI, but you didn’t even bother asking if I had a foot injury, a handicap or anything. Way to accommodate. We left right away, no use in arguing. Good job losing a customer who’s been there many times dude!
This is a nice dive bar for a relaxed social night with some friends. They have a few local beers on tap, and many liquor options. Staff is friendly and helpful, and there are games to play like shuffleboard, pool, and giant Jenga outside. I've been here many times and enjoy sitting out in the back taking in the vibes with my friends. Definitely an enjoyable spot.
A quaint neighborhood bar that offers reasonably priced drinks. Make sure you bring your ID since they check everyone in your group. It was busy on a Friday night, but we found a seat. There is seating outside in front and in the rear as well as inside. There is a food truck located at the front door. However, I don't know the hours. Stop by and enjoy!
Despite what people are saying, the bar staff is exactly what you'd expect from an Austin dive bar. Drinks are priced well and quality, there's a live DJ once a month that spins some killer vinyl, the food truck is PHENOMENAL, there's free pool twice a week. Solid Austin dive

This place is pink, dark and brooding. I love it. You might think, from the outside, that it might be filled with pretentious clientele. Step inside and you'll quickly see that it is laid back and easy to hide in a dark corner to sip elaborate cocktails or run of the mill fireball shots. Food truck out back, and witty bartenders to boot!
Had a couple of drinks here last week. The bartender didn't seem too happy but it was a little busy and he was by himself. Anyways drinks were very good and the atmosphere is cool. I can't say enough about all of the Marilyn Monroe pictures all over the bar. Shes my favorite blonde and it was nice to see her all over the place!
Sunday afternoon pool with my middle grandson. The young lady taking care of us was very pleasant. Laidback, Old Austin " Poodle Dog Lounge" atmosphere. I'll go there again and again. Tables are old school. Very chill place, good old music on the juke box. Dark, Loved it. Hadn't been there in 20 years. That's gonna change.
Love this place. Great cocktails, made by intelligent, professional bartenders. It's funny to read reviews of The Aristocrat and people call it a dive.... obviously, y'all didn't live here when this was The Poodle Dog Lounge, complete with Mom, who really did have a baseball bat behind the bar to break up fights.
I guess you have to be drunk and obnoxious to get service at the bar. Every time I give this place another shot, the bartenders are extremely rude and remind me that this place blows. Aristocracy at it's finest. The only thing good about this place is 3 Little Pigs out back (favorite food truck in the WORLD).
I wish I could give zero stars. The bartender here is rude and obnoxious and not in some charming funny way. This place took over an Austin classic (Poodle Dog) and hipster-ed the place up. I could live with that until this guy took over the bar. I won't be back and i encourage everybody else to stay away.
I've driven by this bar for a while and haven't been in and the one time I go the two bartenders working on the night of 11/22 were honestly rude and didn't make me and my freinds feel welcome at all. Very disappointing for such a chill and nice bar.

Very relaxed and probably the darkest bar in Austin (which I like). There is also a nice patio, however. It gives you a very classic Austin vibe with an original "Poodle Dog Lounge" sign from 1964. They had a unique beer selection. There are games to play and a projector set up for sports.
Place was decent but bartender Miguel seemed very unhappy to be there. Kind of bummed the place out. Additionally, my drink was spilled right in front of him (before I even tasted it) and Miguel charged me for it anyway. Will go back sometime when he isn't working and give it another try.
The bartenders here are rude as hell, especially Mexican dude with the hat, biggest dweeb up in there and acts so hard but in reality is driving business out the doo with his horrible attitude , also place smells like badddddddd

Wonderful spot off Burnett's Northside housed in the old building of the poodle dog. Good tap choice, staff and local peeps with skeetball and shuffleboard to boot. There is s food trailer on the patio "3 little pigs' and the cocktail "old fashion " is on tap too. Enjoyed!
The bartender, (I think her name was Kelsey/thick girl w glasses), should get out of the service industry. Very rude and inept. No greeting, not friendly, wrong priorities. It's amazing y'all have patrons w her there. Not a good look

This was the first time visiting this lounge and I was very surprised how big it was inside. It has several pool tables, dart boards and a shuffle board. The highlight of their drink selection was their Old Fashion on tap. If I'm in the area I would stop by here again.
Good late night spot with pool, darts, shuffleboard, and 90s jams often. Drinks are fairly priced and outdoor area is funky cute. Bartenders are more concerned with their own gossip and issues than being friendly, often has a foul odor - not sure what that's all about.
I have loved this place when it was poodle lounge. Then it became the aristocrat, and I still love it. Nice, dark atmosphere, keeping that dive bar feel I love. And they have tasty drinks on tap. Forever love.

Not the very doggy friendliest bar I’ve been to in Austin especially for having one painted on the building wouldn’t recommend for you and your pups! False advertisement? Also didn’t get great vibes off the bartenders either! Restrooms smelled horrific as well !
The Aristocrat is the old Poodle Dog Lounge...big space inside, plenty of parking, 2 pool tables, 2 ski ball setups, 1 large shuffleboard table...lots of booths for hanging out...outdoor smoking area out back...cool joint with pretty good jukebox sound system...
This is my bar. I still call it the Poodle Dog but it's improved greatly since it changed - without changing too much! Love the jukebox and their frozen drinks the best. Never too crowded. Fantastically unpretentious bartenders, given how they know their craft.
Great bar staff, house infused liquors, 5-8 happy hour on weekdays. Shuffle board and 2 pool tables. Most importantly, doesn't get so busy you can't move. Outdoor area if the weather is right and a delicious food truck. What more could you want from a bar?!
For some reason bartenders here have a chip on their shoulder. Been here many times and have decided its not worth the headache of wondering whats going to happen next with them so not coming back. Several other places right up the street with a nicer vibe.
Almost a 5 star dive bar, but rude staff is never ideal. On the plus side, free darts/shuffleboard, 2 pool tables, plenty of elbow room, (small) patio, and reasonably priced drinks.

The blended drink the girl at the bar recommended was excellent and she was really sweet. The place is a cool little spot very cozy and the outside seating area out back is super cool. The restored trucks as seating benches was a really neat idea

I enjoy this relaxed low key place to just hang out alone or with friends. The food truck in back is great. We can even play pool and shuffle board without overpaying for drinks. I love the laid back environment and terrific location.
Best bar & bartenders in the neighborhood! This sweet little dive bar offers a nice variety of cocktails and beer. They have a jukebox, billiards and darts. Great place to grab a drink on the weekend or if you're missing Pour House.
Hard to explain this one to many. Yes its a dive bar...yes it has great cocktails...yes three little pigs makes some of the best pork belly sliders in town. So really I guess all you can say is...welcome to Crestview y'all.
GREAT neighborhood bar with a few choice taps, great liquor selection, pool tables and shuffle board. On the back patio is the crowning jewel, Three Little Pigs trailer run by ex-Jeffery's head chef, Raymond Tatum.
This is a fantastic local dive bar. The have pool tables, a shuffle board table, and ski ball. This place is a lot fun with a big patio in the back. The food truck in the back is also pretty legit. Check it out!
Definitely a must visit. Never too crowded. Pool, darts and shuffleboard. Pineapple Jalapeño Paloma as well as an Old Fashioned on draft. Reasonably priced. Some of the booths were broken and need repairs.
Staff is reliably awesome people. Very knowledgeable too. Patio is awesome! Pool tables, shuffle board AND skee ball. Classic dive feel; there's no where I would rather go for casual drinks with friends!!!
I like the place, but could use more of a beer selection and another bartender just serving beer. Frustrating waiting for a simple pour while the sole bartender scrapes zest for a cocktail being concocted.
Not "The Dog" but they kept some ambivalence. Still had the Marylin Monroe pics on the wall last I went and same bar but long gone are the bar fights, smell of pot and burnt rubber. Prolly for the best.
Cool bar, awesome atmosphere, great drink and cocktail selections, servers are great, and the food truck next to the building is really good.

It's close to home and the people are friendly. There is NO pretense. People are people. I'm a gay man who just likes to hang out with cool people. Thanks, Aristocrat, for allowing me to be ME.
Laid back atmosphere. Usually not terribly packed with pool tables, some arcade machines and a juke box. Full bar with a handful of draft craft beers. Has good food via food truck out back.
Divey as can be. Great if you're into that sort of thing. There's a juke box that gets used a lot less than it should so I recommend throwing in a fiver and dominating the music for a bit.
They have great draft beers, and some interesting draft cocktails, but the highlight is the bar games: shuffleboard, pool, and skeeball. If you like dark bars--this is the place for you.
This place has had London Homesick on tap Everytime I've walked in the door and I appreciate that. Bartending staff is friendly which is a breath of fresh air these days. Lud this place.
Such a Kool spot a little north from ATX downtown. If you are looking for LA bar theme in Austin!! You should definitely check out this place. PS Good collection of photos on the wall.
Unassuming dive bar that you'd prob walk by and not really notice. Reasonable prices and dimly lit with private booth seating. Friendly staff. Try the "mystery shot". I dare you.
Shuffle board, pool tables free on Sundays, food truck bring it in and eat in A/C. Est 1964. Clean tables good liquor selection. Great place for a Christmas party for the office.
Always something good in the frozen machine. Great prices all around. Bartenders are great.

Nice little bar, not too small, not too big. They have pool tables, and offer fair prices on drinks. Lots of spots to sit and talk to someone over some drinks for sure.
Expensive. Drank three 7% beers and got a 30$ tab.. thank Christ I was loaded showing up, I'd have Never paid 10$ for A SINGLE BEER.. pool tables need work too.
A revamped grimey, old biker bar turned divey millennial spot. Older look inside. Not a bad spot to grab a drink, but you'll never catch any aristocrats here.

Super cute dive bar. Nice outdoor seating, pool tables inside, great drinks. It wasn’t too busy on the day I went and the bartender was really friendly.
It's a nice little joint. It's missing a little something, I can't put my finger on it, but it has a great selection and amazing hand crafted cocktails.
Dark like a dive bar but a pretty nice place, great, friendly-enough bartender. Nice area in back to sit outside. Would go back for the cold Lone Star.
Don’t let the name deceive you, death metal, kpop, some weird he-man spin off on the tv, pool tables, exotic women and burly bartenders 7/7 wooddrinkin
Trendy bar. Staff was a perfect fit for the location. Really dark inside. Bathroom smelled like a porta potty. Beer was cold and pool table was level.
This place is alright for a dirty neighborhood hangout. The Durak Mule was tasty, and a good deal at $5 at happy hour. They have a sweet back patio.
Cool dive bar with a very warm feel. Friendly and attentive staff. Visited after an event with a group and they very accommodating. Will be back!
This is definitely a place to go for any reason. But it's especially great for those times you want a mellow evening having the best made drink.
I'm sure this place may deserve more stars but it's not for me. To many damn hipsters! A little expensive for the quality of their mixed drinks.
Great place to eat and hangout, gives me small town vibez and has foosball, pool, and a juke box. If you go hear try the missionary statement!
A mix of old school north Austin dive bar vibe and new school Austin where it's hip to appreciate what never was intended to be hip, or cool.
good drinks one of my prefers places to go on burnet, staff can be so so but atmosphere is good, pool tables patio a bit dark but enjoyable
Dark and chill. Affordable drinks; pool, darts, shuffleboard; nice patio out back; no pretentiousness; and some sexy folks behind the bar!
Great service from Austin the bartender. Makes a good amaretto sour if you're into that. Great atmosphere and fun outdoor area.
Always a good time and they make great cocktails! Being new to the area we've found this place to be quite awesome! …
Haven't been here since it was the poodle lounge it was great loved the old school Austin vibe and the bartender was awesome!
Nice cozy lil dive bar with a hometown feel. Bar music was enough to hear and still be able to have a decent conversation.
The bartender was so friendly, place was clean, good atmosphere, great drinks!! I place to go back again, and again!!!
Great place to hang out with friends or have a date! Drinks are affordable and well made and servers were pretty cool.
It's so Austin! Perfect little dive bar! I highly recommend it because it's chill, low key and the prices are good.
Great, reasonably-priced cocktails and a warm, inviting venue. A bar I wouldn't mind having in my own neighborhood.
Drinks and bartenders were awesome. The layout is kinda awkward and the screaming chicks were the reason to leave
Cute little place with a nice porch area. Bartender comes to you so it minimizes inside time. Defs would go again
Very friendly service. Good local beers and cider. Outdoor seating. Two pool tables. Animal heads on the walls.
This is the place to be if you are looking for great drinks at a cheap price. Dive bar experience at it's best.
