After visiting this place I can safely say that this was one of the best army surplus stores within the GTA I have to date visited. I came here looking to get a new uniform for my milsim loadout and a couple other things that I might need for my loadout which would be used in paintball and Airsoft. What I found was a vast array of amazing and unique uniforms ranging from many rare and special camouflage schemes and each uniform if not most of them had pants, t-shirts, upper combat bdus, and a very nice jacket to go with it (sold separately). The prices they asked for were a bit steep from what I've seen at other places But once I got to feel the material and get a closer look I can safely and happily say that the stuff they carry will last a very long time for the price you pay. I was able to pick up a very nice fast Mt helmet for $70! By far one of the cheapest places for helmets and they carry a lot of cool patches that I really enjoyed looking at. They also offer a wide variety of items ranging from very cool knives all the way to World War II gear. When it comes to the airsoft selection I did see a lot of good companies I'm very familiar with that I would say wouldn't be too bad but there are a lot of companies that I'm not 100% familiar with but what I can say with the products that I already had previous knowledge on from other Airsoft stores the prices they had set up and for asking for was very competitive and very nice. If you're looking to get a pistol from there I would recommend grabbing a CZ P-09. This is the first place I've seen carrying proper jumpsuits that come in a wide range of camouflages and solid colours. All this stuff aside the staff really sold the place, at no point did I feel pressured to buy something and at no point did I feel uncomfortable. I didn't catch his name but there's this one staff member who helped me with every question I had. He helped me find the exact type of camouflage I wanted and he provided me some experience he had with some of the product they carried which really did help me choose the right uniform for me. When I asked if I can bring my airsoft vest and helmet (which I got from them lol) to try on with the clothing they told me I'm more than welcome to and that I could use their changing room to try on some of the stuff before I bought it! I would recommend this place to everyone looking to expand their army collections and to people who want to get some propper uniforms and military gear.
Update July 2019: New ownership! Same inventory and pricing plus Airsoft guns, related supplies and tactical clothing. That unstable, infamous lady is now gone! I'd give the store another try if you were turned off sometime in the past. ------------------ One of the few remaining military surplus clothing store in the GTA. Large store with a good selection of camouflage field jackets and pants (US, UK and Canadian Forces surplus) and other military surplus clothing and uniforms. Woodland and desert camo M65 jackets and BDUs, camping supplies and a whole section devoted to heavy duty work clothes, including some Carhartt jackets and overalls. Items purchased: Bundeswehr flecktarn field shirt, US Army field jackets and BDUs, all in excellent condition and well priced.
I drove 45 mins out of my way to go back to this store for a second time. The woman working there was harassing me while I was shopping. She first told me the size I was looking for in a particular pant was not available however I continued to search. While I was searching she kept walking up to me and staring me down with attitude. I then found a pair that were my size (that apparently they didn't have), went to the cash register and went to pay and her words exactly were "now had you have been nice, I would have given you a discount". I was simply handling my business and she made me feel uncomfortable and was extremely rude. I have never experienced shopping like this, completely bad customer service I will NEVER be returning to this store again.
I'm not super into like army stuff and guns and being manly, however I I love combat boots. Now Doc Martens are like $200 and knockoffs break easily. So I buy my combat boots here because they are made to withstand actual war and it sounds so kickass to say that. I bought used ones because the new ones have very limited sizing. The used ones are amazingly priced and have more sizing options. The sizing can be weird though as I am a women's 8 but my shoes are a 4 (I don't know what gender) so keep that in mind. People are nice and it's always fun to look around.
Better price by $10 on surplus wool blankets. The ones I got were $30 and would have looked at home in the best hotel room. Many useful things. Fantastic wool socks, not cheap, but a fair price, and fantastic! In my opinion, both the man and lady there have been very interesting and friendly people to converse with indeed. A big help, and always an adventure. Excellent lunch next door, though I understand the Little Army Store is closed for a short time and moving directly across the street, Opening again in very early May, 2013.
Most surplus stores here in Toronto aren't great, but this is a pretty good place. I come here frequently and there is always something new. Great selection of military items, clothing, airsoft/paintball stuff and tactical gear. Prices can be pricey but you can also find some good prices too. I wish stuff was more organized because its sometimes hard to find what you are looking for, and a lot of cool stuff is hidden. Overall a good place to check out even if you are just looking, will continue to come here.
Not a bad selection and prices fairly good, but person working there rudely asked what my service dog was for, a dog legitimately licensed and trained by a DND program, what was wrong with me, and then if he pooped in the store to clean it up. Won't be driving back here from the West End or doing any business, nor recommending other veterans to do business here. Assuming the person wearing camouflage was veteran I would expect more. Disappointing experience to say the least.
Always friendly owner. Very high quality - real military surpus - excellent prices. You can find great work-wear here too, good deals on a limited selection of Carhartts. I bought a fabulous gore-tex parka here, as well as some heavy-duty army raincoats for working on drilling rigs. Durable and weather-proof. I always keep coming back to The Little Army Store because of the quality product and friendly owner!!
Great store! Lots of quality gear and cheap prices. Lovely lady to deal with, I see some people say she's rude. This woman knows her stuff and has zero tolerance for low ballers, ignorant or rude customers. I dont either. Shop lifters beware! You may not survive! It's a mom and pop shop trying to stay afloat in Toronto. Fun store for a quick family pop in. Our kids love going thru the stuff!!
Get what I can from this place. My hours of work make it difficult. I cherish this little army shop and the people who own it are super super nice! Including the woman, I love her sass. It's authentic and usually she is always polite to me even when I walked in with anxiety issues by myself at 16. (Added this last bit after reading rude comments alleging she is rude).
Admittedly, I didn't go to this store for army stuff, I just needed some inexpensive safety boots. That being said, the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, and they had a good selection of new and used safety footwear. It's not a bad place for winter or work gear, check this place before paying too much for the same stuff at a chain or something.
This place used to be a great place to go for work or hunting clothes. It's been a few years since I've been in there. Don't get me wrong what you see is you what get but before the owner/worker would bargain with you. Not anymore. So now it is just old cheap stuff with no wiggle room. Who wants that? I won't go back.
I went to pick up some 50 cal. ammo can. As others have mentioned the woman who works there seemed abrupt and rude. The guy who looked like owner was nice and friendly though. I don't think I will go back here again. Such a weird experience with the store assistant woman who looked like she had some mental issue....
Been going to Mert & Jimmys' & sometimes working there since 1994. I will NOT miss Merts horrendous customer "skills". The only reason they were in business for 30 years was because of Jimmy. The place never would have lasted so long if it depended on her. Nasty , ignorant harpy who will not be missed.
I agree with Ed...I was going to that store for years (the old one) the black lady is married to the owner (poor guy)... he's a super Nice man...I brought a friend of mine with me 2 weeks ago and she was in a pissy mood as usual... they definitely lost my business... and I was a long time customer....
Nice store, tons of military clothing and workware. Vintage knives, patches. Surplus gear. Although they didn't have what I was originally looking for I still had a lot of fun checking out all the stuff and talking with the staff. I did pick up a pair of insulated coveralls for a decent price.
The selection here is very good and everything is dirt cheap. The owners (a man and a woman) are both friendly but the woman isn't one to mince words and might put some poeple off. Also they sell MRE's 12 packs for 80 bucks, and no-one in town can beat that! (don't expect sopako though)
They were very helpful in getting me kitted for my volunteer work at a museum. Very knowledgeable and a very decent selection of gear. Great for those who need enactment, camping, militaria, hunting gear or, cadet gear. I was very impressed with their canteen equipment selection.
The guys are colder nice guys. What I do miss the other owners those guys were even greater they were awesome the other guys but times change. They gotta up their price to make the rent I understand what you guys are really good guys are good guys there cool
Lots of selection of army surplus as well as new items. I went to buy a shoulder bag to carry my battery booster, tablet and a few other items that I carry in the winter. I was able to find good size bag at a very good price.
Great customer service, huge selection, boots, combats, uniforms, unbeatable prices, and also a lot of cadet stuff. I really like the staff they are really nice and really know what they want perfect surplus store for anyone
Previously left a bad review but was told the reason for my older review was no longer there and they were under new management. By chance happened to be by and checked it out again and had a much more pleasant experience.
A wide variety of clothing items, shoes, vintage nap sacks, quality contractor clothes. Fishing, hunting and camping gear. The owners are friendly and helpful. One of the best stocked surplus stores in the city.
Very Good service! I had an issue with my online order and this guy Corey from this camouflage location help me to solve the issue. Check out this place not u only will find good stuff but good service too
Worst experience. Purchase a BB gun for my son, when got home and unpacked realized that trigger stuck. When I came back to do an exchange or refund the guy refused, and got mad for no reason
Best store in the city they know the market grabbed a Canadian forces battle scarf and other items this week. Owners make the shopping experience about you and offer thoughts and advice.
Stay away from the left side, especially the bins due to smell and mold.very musty.new stuff is ok,they have a small variety of molle gear and knife display.. nothing to write home about
Great shop, Staff are one of a kind, they look out for you, and have been so kind. The shop offers great gear and equipment for modern use, not so much in terms of collectables.
Agree with others, the woman is very, very rude. The man, very nice. Why support them when you're spoken to and treated so badly? They're located on Bermondsey not on Northline
Nice store, very well stocked. Very good customer service. Definetly will go back. The lady was very helpful, she showed me different options for waterproof camo. Thumbs up.
I love lookong at all the outdoor stuff. Now my 9 year old asks to go. It's a great place to get out of the ordinary items. Want a holster from World War 2. Go there.
Interesting place but the parking is limited. The selection is not as diverse as some of the other surplus stores in the city. The size selection is also limited.
Great selection, and the owner is courteous, friendly, and helpful. I definitely recommend heading there if you're looking for army surplus goods!
Bought my first BB gun here a 1911 co2 blowback I’m loving it. The selection of guns these guys have is absolutely insane will come back again.
So much cool stuff. From antiques to surplus to modern gear. The staff are super knowledgable and you can see they love what they do.
Owner is very kind and took the time to help me find what I needed. I’ll defiantly be back there soon for some more things!
Very rude service to the point that I simply walked out of the store rather than continue a conversation with the staff
It's actually a very nice place to shop at for your outdoor activities ....good customer service and assistance ....
I went there by accident lots of army stuff I have got a chance to touch some uniforms I have seen in the movies
Always a good experience when i come here. Great staff. Wonderful selection of military amd camping goods.
