The BP Day Spa is a cutely decorated facility that happens to offer mediocre massages. My experience wasn’t by any means relaxing or rejuvenating, which is what I desired as a treat for my birthday and after a long, horrible COVID year. I’ll list what I experienced that led me to this conclusion: - when I called to make an appointment for a massage, the representative was clearly stressed and rushed, which made me feel like I was bothering them. She finally said she could “squeeze me in” at a particular time, which was my first indication that this wouldn’t quite be the relaxing experience I was looking for. - the decoration in the massage waiting area has kind of a romantic country vibe, which was the only really nice part of the experience. - my massage therapist was very sweet and personable, so I do feel badly for saying this, but she talked the ENTIRE TIME. I was hoping to relax and enjoy the massage because I have had an incredibly stressful few months, but instead I found I had to have an hour-long conversation about COVID, vaccines, work, money, etc. I am not one to be rude and ask her to stop talking, so I had to keep up the conversation the whole time, which was draining and compounded my stress. At times, the MT would stop massaging because she would gesture with her hands while talking, or would pause movement to emphasize what she was saying. Just… not my idea of relaxing. - the music went out about halfway through my time, so all you could hear was vacuums going and people talking outside the door. The MT asked if I wanted her to stop the massage so she herself could try to put music on from the lobby, but I didn’t want to be a bother, nor did I think stopping the massage was an option either. - some of the pressure of the massage was bit painful, but I wasn’t asked about pressure preferences, so I didn’t want to complain in the moment. - the Lavender Oil smells amazing, but I don’t think the MT was using enough because my skin was pulled painfully at times. - after the massage was over, I used the restroom and changed, and went out into the relaxing waiting area. My MT told me I could drink water and stay as long as I liked. I sipped the water and started to take a seat, but I heard the receptionist and another person out in the lobby saying, “Where is she? Is she coming or what?” I was the only one in the waiting area, so I went into the lobby to see if they meant me. Sure enough, they did, because went I stepped into the lobby they both said, “There you are!” The cleaning lady put her mask on and rushed past me to start cleaning the room I was in, while the receptionist didn’t even wait for me to reach the desk before stating my total with taxes. Overall, I regretted spending my birthday evening and hard earned money on this experience. It is clear they are understaffed and undertrained. If you’re looking for your everyday massage, this would be an adequate facility. If you’re looking for relaxation, customer service that compliments the nature of the business, or attention to detail, this is not the place.

i recently went for a facial for the first time here. The outside of the building kind of throws you, it doesn't really look like a spa. when you walk in, you mostly see like decorations of a country style. kinda reminds me of the little store in cracker barrel. it doesn't seem like a spa initially. so I was a little confused as to where to go. The front desk lady was nice but she was busy with other customers and was not able to tell me what to do at first. another lady told me if i had an appointment to go into the waiting area. When i went in, its a nice darkened area , dim lighting, cooled, nice decor. after a few minutes i wasn't sure if i was supposed to do anything so i went back to the front desk to ask. The lady then gave me a short little tour of what everything looks like. robes and sandals are available for use if you wanna change or need to. they have warmed neck wraps while your waiting for your appointments. as well as tea and cookies. nice calming music is playing as well. My facial was great. Melissa is a great asset to them as she was very professional and took the time to talk to me and explain what i need to do for my skin health. she knows how to continue a conversation and it was not awkward at all. it was a enjoyable experience for sure. my face looks a lot better my skin feels smooth. she also recommended products to cleanse my face. they also do lots of services from lash lifts, facials, massages, body scrubs, body wraps, and even pedicures! i will be going back for sure.

Date 09/21/2022 First Time here So I just left there not more than 10 minutes ago and honestly couldn't wait to write a review. This was my first time getting a massage at this place. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the front desk with a smile, offered water, and was escorted to the waiting area that was very relaxing. Once my appointment time came near my masseuse and I met and took me back to the room, asked the basic questions and left while I changed out. The room atmosphere was great and the music was very relaxing, She was perfect on the pressure during the whole massage, knew exactly where to apply more or less and hit all the points perfect to make it a great massage. After the massage, we walked down to the waiting room, where she had water and a nice hot neck heating pad waiting for me to relax a bit more after massage. This had to be one of the best massage experiences I have had before. I am already looking forward to scheduling my next appointment. **Above was my first review a little over a year ago.** Today 11/17/2023 was my second time coming here, I haven't had a massage since my last time here, and yet again, it was an amazing experience. Since my last time here, I have had sciatic pain, and the masseuse was knowledgeable and perfect with pressures around my nerve pain. I need to get massages more often, and so far, Back Porch will be my go-to place. Thank you for the amazing experience .

I booked an appointment for today for a microderm abrasion treatment. When I arrived, the woman at the front desk said she couldn't find me on the schedule. I told her what time I called and she said, "That's Ashley, and she's gone for the day". I spelled my name, just in case it was on there but misspelled but nothing. This woman offered no apology, no offer to reschedule, no offer to help me in any way, nothing! When I asked to speak to the manager/owner, she said the manager was not available, so I asked her to have the manager call me. I asked to speak to the owner, and she said she would give the owner my telephone number but I couldn't have their number. When I said that I was pretty upset, she just kept saying "My hands are tied", and "What do you expect me to do?". Honestly, this woman had absolutely no customer service skills! I would not want her to represent my company , or I would at least get her some training, especially how to maintain customer satisfaction even when things go wrong. I don't know if the manager will call me, I fear not. I have always held this business in high regard, but I will not return, based on how I was treated today.

I had a facial a few weeks ago on my birthday, and my esthetician was very nice, but I saw her arrive late and my facial started 10 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. I was hoping she would make up for it by adding time, but she did not. My towels were cold which was disappointing because hot towels are one of my favorite parts of a facial. During the mask, and what I’m assuming was an exfoliant, there was no shoulder or hand/arm massage as stated on the website for the facial I purchased, but as I sat there I could hear her tapping on her phone. I tried to contact the Back Porch for some kind of resolve, but have gotten no response. I was hoping for a better experience, and was disappointed. I’ll stick to Betty’s next time.

From the moment I walked in, I felt, ignored and disrespected! The young woman at the front desk did not even acknowledge me, but those who walked in behind me were acknowledged. She even ask them if they want a tea or coffee or water & still had not acknowledged me. Finally I went up to her and told her I had an appointment and still did not ask if I wanted any thing to drink. I was just told to go sit down & they would call me when my massage Therapist was available. The Massage that I got was just okay. The massage therapist was nice but I still didn’t feel comfortable & came out more tense & in knots. Since then I never went back and will never ever recommend them to anybody.

I had never been here before… I called and was able to get in the same day (awesome) for the perfection facial. I arrived early but the facial started late and did not last the full hour (60 min). The online description says it includes a neck, shoulder and hand massage- the esthetician barely even applied pressure for a quick shoulders and upper arm “massage.” It was more like light fingertip strokes as opposed to a massage. There was no discussion of what she was doing/using or any questions about my skin type. Most all facials I’ve had, the esthetician always talks about that before beginning. I have had a lot of different facials and this one was disappointing for the price.

UNVAXXED & UNMASKED. If you’re at all concerned about COVID, give this place a miss. As the Delta variant spreads and NM numbers climb again, it would have been nice to have had a heads up that vaccinations & masks are optional for employees so I could have made an informed decision. Sign on door says to wear a mask inside, but only 1 of the 4 employees I saw was masked, and that person wore a mask under her nose. My therapist was unvaccinated & unmasked, and seemed irritated when I said I didn’t feel comfortable getting a massage from her. Also, employees were complaining about someone & about their work schedules in the reception area. Unsafe & unprofessional.

(I previously worked at Elements on Paseo de Norte; Betty's on Candelaria, and The Remedy Day Spa in Nob Hill) The atmosphere ~ as well as my lovely and competent co-worker's ~ is warm, caring and friendly. The pricing is fair (the owner does not price gouge) , and clients get the full session time (a 1 hr is Really 60 minutes) and she strives to promote a cozy and comfortable atmosphere for everyone ~ I'm confident you will experience Massage Therapists and Estheticians who really care about the clients at The Back Porch!!

I've been going to the back porch for years and I guess it's time to finally write a review! Firstly, the estheticians are fabulous. I had never gotten a facial before and now I'm addicted. Belyn and Amber are both fantastic and are the highlight of our visits. Secondly, I've only had one "bad" massage out of probably 100 that I've had there. That's a pretty awesome rate. The bad massage was just about not respecting pressure requests (I'm a wimp), but the other 99 were fabulous. Lastly, the ambiance is really relaxing and I immediately enter my happy place when I'm sitting in the lounge area. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone.

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in my experience...when I first walked in, I did not feel very welcome, the lady at the front desk did not offer water, tea, etc., although I heard her ask others and bring it to them, and the massage was definitely not worth the expensive amount they charge! I don't know if the massage therapist knew what to do, but it was probably the worst massage I have ever had. I have gotten massages half the price that are much better! I wanted to love my experience but it was the exact opposite...

I am trying different spas in Albuquerque and I found this Little Gem. I got a salt scrub and a massage package and I could not be happier. I have never been so calm to almost fall asleep during a massage. The waiting area is so tranquil I didn't need a hot tub or steam room or sauna to get myself relaxed enough to enjoy my massage. Bernadette was amazing and I will be asking for her on my next visit. With how I'm feeling right now will be very soon :-) btw- its a 30 minute drive for me and I will gladly drive it every time.

After having to reschedule 4 times, I finally got there! It was a very relaxing 2 hours. Walter did my massage and was very nice, he kept asking if he was doing the massage to hard. Infact when he did the foot massage, it started to tickle(I have not had anything but pins and needles feelings for over 4 years on my feet) , so this was a fun sensation to have. Lauren did my hand and foot paraffin treatment, and it was so relaxing. My skin is very soft and smells so good. Thank you both for a very relaxing experience

All of the women I encountered here were so sweet! This place is so cute and quaint. They gave me hot tea after checking in. I really enjoyed my massage with Sandra, so much that I fell asleep and that had never happened to me before lol. She took extra time on my neck which is a huge source of my chronic pain and her releasing those knots literally felt like heaven. Thank you Sandra and all the girls I met there today. I received a gift card for my birthday from a friend and I’m glad she picked this place ❤️

THEY NEED TO WORK ON THERE TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS WE ARRIVED TEN MINUTES EARLY THEY DIDN'T CALL US BACK TIL 2 AFTER TEN (I DONT CARE WHAT ANYONE SAYS 2 MINITES LATE IS 2 MINUTES LATE WHICH CUTS INTO MY 60MIN MASSAGE TO WHICH IM PAYING FOR) IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT AFTER WATCHING THEM WALKING AND/OR STANDING AROUND DOING NOTHING. VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE. ITS SUCH A PITY HOW MUCH CUSTOMER SERVICE HAS VANISHED.

I splurged today and had a massage and facial at a new place to me - The Back Porch Day Spa - and I’m so glad I found it! Amazing massage by Walter, great facial by Amber, extraordinary atmosphere and wonderful staff. The vibes were really relaxed and special even during this COVID madness (masks, temperature check). I’ve lived in big cities and paid easily twice as much and not felt as welcomed and satisfied. Already have my next one scheduled for next month.

Costs are reasonable and the staff is so nice. I have had various massage therapists over the years and they have always been great. I have seen Belen (not 100% certain the correct spelling of her name) multiple times over the years for facials, microdermabrasion, and dermaplane. She is fantastic. The decor of the place is a little dated. I don’t mind it - it reminds me of my mother and the whole place has a very relaxed vibe. They also sell CBD products.

Absolutely fantastic experience this afternoon as a birthday treat. Started with the citrus salt scrub fabulously managed by Elizabeth - warm salts and oils and a firm scrub followed by a tepid shower, then onto the magical hands of Kira who temoved.months of knots and kinks from my legs and shoulders and Finally to Ashley whose marvelous facial knocked 10yrs off my 'experienced face'.. Amber expertly gave me back my eyebrows and eyelashes

Amber is a great cosmetologist! I have been having facials for over 20 years, she is the best! She took her time, explained everything and made sure it was a special experience. She was really nice and friendly, but also let me relax and enjoy the experience. I can’t wait for my next facial. Also, the microdermabrasion was fantastic. I usually feel rushed, but not here! My face looks amazing; so fresh and rested.

I had an amazing facial with Meg today! I really needed some TLC for myself and she really made me feel pampered. She did dermaplaning too which I love. I feel amazing and my skin looks so hydrated, glowy, and smooth. Plus the ambiance in the spa is so inviting and like nowhere else I’ve been. There’s a really neat garden room waiting room. All of the staff I talked to were great and so welcoming! Thank you!!

My fiancé and I just got a couple massage here and it was AMAZING! My massage therapist was Suzanne and she was soooo great! Angel hands! That was by far the best massage I’ve ever had and I’ve been to so many places. This was our first time here and definitely will be my go to place. The place was so cute and cozy. I found Back Porch when they advertised an afternoon delight special in the paper. It really was a delight!! I had an hour massage, a facial and a pedicure and really enjoyed all 3 services. The staff was very professional and welcoming. I especially enjoyed relaxing with tea and hot neck wraps in the cozy parlor between my services. What a relaxing atmosphere!!

I had an appointment with Melissa for a facial, and if I lived in the area, she would be my go-to esthetician. She was friendly, professional, and I enjoyed conversing with her during my appointment. My skin is smoother and brighter; she did a great job! The woman at the front desk was super sweet and welcoming as well. The building is decorated beautifully too!

Got Mothers Day massages here with my Mom back in May. There is no locker room, you change in the same room you get your massage in. No robes or extras. But that little difference really saves you money on your massage! Therapists did an excellent job and for a fair price. The inside is very cozy and relaxing as you wait for your appointment. Highly recommend.

This was my 3rd time visiting...twice with my wife prior to me coming alone and each time was pleasant and professional. However, when I was visiting alone I was about to tip the tech when I overheard her speaking of me in a demeaning manor after she thought I'd left. I wouldn't recommend anyone ever getting a pedicure or manicure from this establishment.

Great day spa! And their employee Brielle is amazing! I've been there twice for a facial, and she is polite, engaging and takes her time to really give a good treatment and pampering. She is a definite asset to this spa. And the atmosphere is so relaxing and peaceful. I think the prices are reasonable with alot of great options. I just love this place.

I just had one of the best, most soothing facials ever. Selena was amazing, welcomed me in, asked me about my skin and goals of doing a facial and then tailored it for me. It was sooooo relaxing and included a shoulder+arms massage, tea after in their little relaxation room. I left feeling very relaxed and my skin felt baby soft. Highly recommend.

My wife got a massage here so I am writing for her, but she said that the tech she got, I believe by the name of "kyra"... came across as very mentally unstable during their session, making multiple comments that made her feel very uncomfortable and at times worry about her wellbeing. I would caution anyone against seeing the same technician.

Wonderful atmosphere - you’d be hard pressed to stay stressed out once inside! Chris delivered one of the most amazing massages of my life, I will definitely be back. Fantastic facial, too, for this aging skin, & all staff were incredibly knowledgeable. Suffice to say, I can’t wait to book more & try out near everything they’ve got to offer.

During my massage, the owner pressed his privates against my palm. I thought it was very weird but maybe just an accident, until the end of the massage when he NIBBLED MY EAR! When I freaked out, he apologized profusely, said that I was just so beautiful and begged me to please keep coming back. He is using his position to prey on women!!

This was my first time visiting this spa and I was very pleased. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. Riley, my massage therapist, was absolutely amazing! The energy work that she did prior to starting the massage was phenomenal. I think I needed that more than the physical massage and didn't even know it! I will definitely be back.

This place is AMAZING! Talk about customer service! My wife and I have been here 3-4 times and every time we go we are more and more impressed with the entire staff. The owners are fantastic and the therapists are top notch! Arguably the best spa in NM! We will be life long clients.

My wife recently had a massage here and all I have heard about is how terrible it was! Apparently the person giving the massage had such poor technique that my wife questioned whether or not he actually had any training, or was just doing this job because he enjoys touching people.

I received a gift card a few months before COVID appeared and would expire a year later. Apparently they were open during COVID and will not honor my gift card now. What a waste of $200. Will not be recommending the Back Porch to my friends. Seems like poor business practice.

I have multiple injuries from a past car accident, so when I got here I had not had a real massage since then. So everything hurt and was super tense. However Kyo was absolutely amazing. She did a great job and I am super grateful. Thank you really. I will be back very soon

I was gifted a voucher for this business before and received tremendous service about 2 years ago, called today because I enjoyed my last experience and the front desk agent Bernadette was very rude and not helpful at all when I called to set up an appointment.

Had a nice massage and scrub. The shower for after the scrub is terrible. Water spraying every which way. Prices on webpage are not (were not) accurate. I enjoyed my experience here, but did not feel that it was worth the money. It was somewhat lacking.

The Back Porch doors things with charm and warmth. I felt relaxed and transformed to a happy place. My therapist was amazing!!!!!!! A young girl about 29 years old I'm spacing on her name. Aria or Tera, she was firm with her massage. I'll be back!

I booked time for my honeymoon well over a month in advance only to arrive and be told that whoever booked my appointment booked it for a week after my honeymoon even though they confirmed the dates! Ruined my honeymoon experience.

Kira is amazing! I came in for a neck and shoulder massage because I suffer from migraines. I felt so relaxed, and a weight taken off my shoulders. My migraines have subsided. I would highly recommend Back Porch Day Spa!

Best service EVER! Left my hands super soft with the paraffin wax treatment and the environment was so relaxing and quaint. Most importantly, Juanita understood my needs and was kind!!! Will recommend and be back.

Not your typical spa aesthetic but it is very Albuquerque. Nice folks and good prices. Also, this sweet cat might sit on your lap. He helped calm my anxieties so he was definitely part of the experience.
