The Book Jewel although it has been open since last year I first learned of it yesterday afternoon. I walked into the store- and as soon as I entered I was greeted and welcomed very warmly! This for me was quite refreshing esp amidst the world wide Pandemic etc. !! The decor and the furnishings amidst quite an array of diverse literature - is really beautiful and for me sets a mood and a vibe- for want of a different term- which enhanced my initial browsing... And during my browsing I had the pleasure of meeting a few of the assocs; a Ms. Karen Ms.Emma and a Mr. Valentin'. all of whom were very friendly and knowledgeable esp with some of my inquiries. The Book Jewel also sells sundry other items- greeting cards- etc and although I didn't make a purchase initially I will return as well as my wife to make a purchase. In conclusion; Online shopping as one might know has seemingly been eclipsing in store purchases and even electronic reading of diverse literature? ! However; I still prefer to be a hardcopy in my hands kind of guy! And what with so many former well known book chains- Barnes & Noble- and others who have closed - I applaude the courage of Ms. Karen and her associates in opening their store!!! And what better way - and esp as women to even celebrate the International month of Women!!!! I encourage all who love to read and all who also believe:" Intelligent lives Matter too!" to come to The Book Jewel in Westchester, Ca!! . Sincerely; Mark A.Winn

After I left Staples in Westchester, I stumbled upon this gem of a store. I saw the books in the window and the signs and the Christmas tree and I knew that I had to see if this place was open. To my delight, it was! Upon entering, I felt the coziness and warm spirit of a good book store and I was fortunate to meet Emma, who greeted me. Also, the owner Karen had just arrived and I told her how this place had brought me joy as I had always wanted a good bookstore closer to home. Emma gave me a thorough tour and Karen gave me kind words. ( I lost my sister just before Thanksgiving and she always loved books. So this was indeed a comforting experience and a beautiful place.) Emma showed me, “the Artist’s Way” which I purchased and I shall be a loyal customer as long as this store exists. This store has something for anyone who loves to read and gifts too. Therefore, I highly recommend The Book Jewel In Westchester.

this little bookstore holds so much awesomeoness. their collections are highly curated -- whether you're looking for just the right edition of a book to match the rest of your shelf, a recent best-seller, or a lightly used and loved book, you'll find it here! the staff is so friendly and helpful, the inside of this store is GORGEOUS, and being here is a delight. i'm an avid plush collector as well as a literary enthusiast, and this bookstore carries high-quality AND hard to find jellycat plushes! i was assisted by valentin both times i've been here, and he was wonderful and personable. : ) supporting a neighborhood, independently-owned bookstore is always great, but having one that's THIS well-run and maintained is truly commendable. thank you for coming into our neighborhood, book jewel! i appreciate you : ) and i look forward to coming back soon!

Books ain't dead is what I always say! That's why rich people have libraries! I sure like this store! It's clean, the people that work there are cool especially Sean and Joseph! They actually host book authors and my friend Meko had her book signing and it was fun! The book jewel had the mic set up, wine, cookies mmmm and tangerines... just little snacks to make the people welcome! If you are and author check with Sean about getting your book into the store. (note to self) Thank you Book Jewel you really are super awesome!

Really pleased we encountered this place. A beautiful space: elegant, burnished woods, earthen rugs, and overstuffed reading chairs bathed in warm, understated lighting. A fun curation of books to search through, ranging from well-known classics to the more obscure; used and new books taking their place side-by-side on the shelves. Came away with an old copy of Charles Johnson’s Middle Passage and memories of a fun afternoon browsing a classy bookstore in a pocket of LA seemingly forgotten by time.

Love this small bookstore! I live a couple blocks down, so I love to browse & buy somethings whenever I'm walking nearby. Pretty quite environment & they have a good variety of books, staff's beyond excellent. Also love their idea of selling puzzles for all ages, stationary, & other merch. I absolutely love seeing their cat Paiges whenever I visit! She's super cute & friendly to all customers! Definitely recommend this place for those who love reading, you may have a chance to meet Paiges too!

The Book Jewel is a jewel of its own. I avoid the big chain stores as much as possible, and every time I stop by, I am refueled as to why I support local businesses. They have a good selection of new and used books, and if you have a bit of patience, they are happy to order anything you can't find in the store for you. The staff is friendly, the environment is welcoming, and it is in a great location where you can make an afternoon out of it. I can't recommend it enough.

I believe this business open up this year, they do have a variety of books including a large section for children books and a few religious books as well. Also if you go by on Sunday there's an open market as well to make purchases of fresh fruit and vegetables as well as places to have a meal. Help support these small businesses, they all except cash and plastic for your purchases. Have a blessed day.

My husband and I wandered into this bookstore one night and absolutely loved it. They are a sweet, neighborhood store with friendly workers. They have staff curated picks that are wonderful choices. They had both books I was looking for and my husband bought a book that they recommended (and he loved it). Please shop here locally this holiday season and all year round. Support local businesses like these!

Nice store. Being a small neighborhood store it has less selections but found them to be a great store to order through. Not amazon in terms of speed but more than made up for it in being friendly. Nice atmosphere. Great place to browse with a cup of Joe and Danish from across the street. Had a beginning of good marvel comics paperback section. Had a lot if independent writers. Wish them well.

I got to visit this amazing bookstore when I came to L.A. The vibe of this store filled my soul! Thera and Madison were amazing to visit with and so helpful! Both ladies were so kind and gave excellent suggestions! The soft music they were playing just set the scene perfectly! I highly recommend adding this store your list! And yes, Madison, California Dreaming by Bobby Womack, was the jam!!!

Out in Westchester is an island, a haven of inspiration and creativity amidst the seas of ignorance. This island, a jewel really, offers a wide selection of books, a focus on love and community, odds ends and knickknacks, and the most adorable mascot. Wash upon these shores and you will know happiness like only an avid reader knows while in their element.

  • Kat Arnett

We came across the bookstore while waiting for our takeout food. This place is amazing! Very well curated selection, extremely organized and clean, within 5-7 minutes we found 4 books. It was faster than online shopping to discover new books. My daughter also loved the variety of stuffed animals. An amazing place to pick up gifts for children.

  • Mickey Shi

Curated selection of both children's and adults' books, as well as souvenirs. They host lots of community events, like book signings and author meet and greets, giving back a lot to the community. Staff genuinely cares and I've gotten into some real interesting recommendations through them. Definitely check it out if you're in the area

  • Nathania Andrade

This is a cute book store and a much needed one in the area , I wanted to like it but I'm better off going to Barnes and noble for way way better prices for the same books that are sold here. Expensive prices even for the stuffed animals!!! I got a couple cute stuffed animals and it was literally over 70 bucks. Ridiculous.

  • Jonathan Gomez

This is a very charming bookstore that I didn't plan to come across in this part of LA. It has an indy small business vibe that reminds me of the Westchester if the 90's. It seems well organized and managed. I looked like they had a great schedule of author events and signings hosted at the store.

  • LeeAat Dehnert

What a fantastic neighborhood jewel! We found it as we were exploring and it was such a lovely store to explore. Wonderful layout, and an eclectic selection of books, book related items, and items from local artists. Warm, welcoming atmosphere and staff. Definitely worth checking out!

My son and I both love The Book Jewel. It’s close to our home. We prefer independent bookstores. The STAFF are so welcoming and helpful. I’ve gotten some great used books, in good shape at a $teal. Love to see Page the resident kitty. Really nice children’s selections.

This bookstore is amazing. There is a great selection of books for adults and children of all ages, and the inside of the bookstore is so creative and inspiring. You can tell the owner put a lot of love and effort into creating the bookstore.

  • Carlos Lemus

This is the latest addition to the Westchester Village family of quaint and homie shops, and it is well- welcomed. They have a very nice blend of classical books on philosophy by the old masters and some very cutting edge new stuff as well.

I’m an English professor and spend a lot of time in bookstores and ordering books. I’ve never experienced such terrible customer service and pretentiousness. Such a disappointment when trying to support a small business.

  • Walter Vergara

Good place for books and more staff could be a little more friendly they don't give you a welcome vibe which is too bad. but if you need a book and more and are tired of Amazon, this could be a good Solutions.

  • Olivia Soofi

Excellent book store. Their buyer is amazing because they had such a great array of books and novelty items. They even have a sitting area with a couch. Now I know where to kill time close to the airport.
