6 course long lunch at @currantshed: fantastic service, amazing food, great views - what more can you ask for . We were so full by the end of the meal, but so worth it! Perfect place for a long lunch . . Snacks: Mussel on sourdough crisp: nice flavours with big mussels! Mushroom paté with nori crisp: the mushroom paté was so good! Really tasty . . Rye sourdough bread: love love love this bread! Omg it was hot from the oven, and it was perfectly done . . Melon, passionfruit, goats curd, smoked almonds: compressed watermelon, parisienned melon, rock melon caviar, goats curd, passionfruit, smoked almond, melon and cucumber foam - this was a really interesting 'summer salad' kind of dish. Really good combination of sweet fruity flavours with the goats curd. Enjoyed it a lot - very refreshing! . Tuna, strawberry, balsamic, mint: cold smoked Port Lincoln tuna, fresh strawberries, strawberry balsamic, buttermilk dressing, nasturtium oil, brik pastry, Minto powder, fresh mint - a very refreshing dish again. The tuna was tasty, and paired well with the strawberries. . Prawns, corn, taco, peaches: seared prawns, roast capsicum taco served on a bed of chipotle beans and sour cream topped with smoked corn, coriander, spiced peaches, spring onion - this dish was really delicious! The prawns were perfected cooked - tender and juicy and full of flavour . All the other components of the dish were good too. The only small thing I could have wished for was maybe more hard shell taco . . Beef, witlof, mango, nuts: cured lobethal beef with salad of watercress, witlof, green mango, and green papaya, dressed in chermoula and topped with spiced nuts and labneh - the cured beef was very savoury, and balanced well with the tasty and refreshing salad! . Duck, plum, sesame, soy: duck breast, pickled plum, plum gel, sesame cracker, honey soy caramel, accompanied by a salad of confit duck leg, shiso, red sorrel, shaved fennel, anise hyssop and crispy ginger - WOW I loved this dish!! I always love duck, but they did a really great job . The breast was very tender and full of flavour - perfect! . Palate cleanser: melon, apple, citrus sorbet, with splash of gin - this was actually really delicious . . Chocolate, coffee, bourbon, cherries: spiced chocolate terrine, bourbon ice cream, marinated cherries, oat crumb with coffee glass - super creative dessert! Lovely chocolate terrine paired well with the ice cream . Yum! . A cake to finish off the lunch at the end: so full but still had to eat it!!
Great place to try some degustation dishes. Also have great view towards its vineyard when seating outside. We tried the dishes both exotic and familiar to some regular restaurants. 2 courses $75 pp plus wine (depending on the wine you chose) Entree: - kangaroo carpaccio | pumpkin | bush tomato | saltbush - pork belly | peanut | bean sprouts | mint | coriander | kaffir lime Main: - lamb I chermoula cucumber dukkah - chicken | corn | polenta tarragon Wine: - Grant Nash GSC Grenache Shiraz Carignan (red) $15 Glass - Larnook Grenache Gris (white) $13 Glass Entree kangaroo was a bit salty to me but I still gave 5 stars as the execution of preparing the dish was to its detail. The meat was in perfect thinly sliced and so did its pumpkin. The pork belly was to its perfection of its crunchiness. And who would have thought that combined with the peanut sauce, it was delish, made it sort of like an Asian fusion. Main lamb was generous. I would prefer to have a bit more of the green salad and/or add some butternut squash. The chicken’s polenta blew my mind on how it’s cooked. Perfect crisp on the outside and soft in the inside. Combined with the corn puree made it melted in your mouth. Both wine were just perfect pair to either of the dishes - Red with kangaroo and lamb - White with pork belly and chicken We were given also some complementary pre-entree and post-main. The sourdough bread was fresh from the oven. The butter was very smooth that I couldn’t get enough of. We didn’t try the pairing wines but we ordered what we would like to have on the day. Note: - they change the menu every few weeks/months. This menu was developed by Wayne Leeson - surcharge 10% on public holidays - they also have private dining area which separates to the main (public) dining room We didn’t try the dessert as we were still a bit full from late breakfast.

Parking inside the estate. Easy to find parking. However when it’s crowded, you might need to ask staff where you can park. Parking is limited.
Was expecting a more blow out socks off in flavour since that’s what majority of the reviews said, however was very disappointed considering the drive there and the price point paid. We ordered a la carte & not the feed me menu. Complimentary warm bread n butter is initially served and it was good bread with a nice crust. Entree was cured kangaroo and this was lovely with hint of tang from different techniques of beetroot. I’d recommend it. This was the highlight of the entire meal. Other entrees was master stock braised pork. This is similar to what you get in Vietnamese restaurants & there was nothing special about it. Then there complimentary snacks of nori crisps, crackers prior to mains. Thumbs up on this. I would of just ordered their snacks as a main course. Mains was very disappointing from over cooked duck to overpowering mussel sauce on tiny barramundi with lumpy non crispy skin. I don’t have much positive words on the main course. Complimentary lemon meringue tartlets to finish. Customer service was also terrible. It was freezing during the lunch service and we asked if we could have the blinds pulled down but that was greeted with an eye roll. Then after all the menus went flying from the wind, they decided to pull down all the blinds. As a local born n bread Adelaide clan, I’m not sure if it was my luck of not getting the experience as many say on google reviews!
The Currant Shed is one of the best dining experiences in South Australia (maybe even Australia as a whole). The setting is exquisite, surrounded by a vineyard entrance and lemon tree orchard, located in the McLaren Vale wine region. To start, the complimentary freshly made (in house) Rye bread rolls and whipped butter with Cabernet salt were delicious. I chose the kingfish for entree and the duck for main - both plates were full of flavour and presented beautifully. A small but expertly assembled menu meant all dishes were carefully thought out with well matched ingredients. Our waitress had a great knowledge of the a la carte menu, was very attentive and friendly and explained each dish as it was delivered. There were no extended wait times for food and ingredients were sourced locally with the season. We will definitely go back again (this was second meal here) and highly recommend to anyone in the area.
We first visited the Currant Shed about a year ago and thought it was one of the best restaurant experiences we had ever had. The setting was perfect; the food was exquisite; and service was simply terrific. So, today (27-4-2018) we returned to the Currant Shed to see whether we had been dreaming. And, no, it was just as wonderful today as it was a year ago. Granted it was a perfect April day and we had a lovely table beside the lawns dotted with superb fairy wrens hopping about. There were 3 of us, and we each ordered different items off the menu. Each dish came out beautifully presented and with components so well matched and uniquely tasty that there were oohs and aahs with every mouthful. Go there and treat every component of every dish mindfully and really enjoy the unique flavours and presentations. Did I mention the happy helpful discreet service we enjoyed there?
The location is full of great views spanning over the grape vines, and there's ample parking out front. The wait staff were very professional and friendly, and explained all the dishes being served. We opted for the 3 course meal and were promptly presented with an appetiser dish, which was delicious. For entrées we had each of the octopus and cauliflower dishes, both very nice. For the mains we had the chicken roulade, and Barramundi. The chicken was very nice, but the cream sauce was a touch on the sweet side for us. We were presented a palate cleanser sorbet before the desserts were served, very unique and tasty. All in all, a great experience and very worthy of a visit.

Had an unexpectedly wonderful time here, one of the best highlights of our Adelaide trip thank you for the amazing food and super accommodating service Entree- jerusalem artichoke | saltbush | pepperberry beetroot | watercress | cashew| I so love the beetroot in this dish can’t have enough of it Main- Seafood | chowder | leek | fennel duck cassoulet | root vegetables| orange Dessert- Apple, ginger and beetroot sorbet I normally can’t stand ginger at all, but I finished this surprisingly delicious and refreshing! rhubarb | white chocolate | pink peppercorn House-made the best nut brownie this is by far the best brownie I think I have had, so much depth in flavor but not that much sweetness.

Fantastic meal and wonderful service. The staff were amazing about allergies and helped me choose my meals accordingly. The food was delicious and perfect portion sizes. The only thing I would have liked was rather than a list of ingredients on the menu, I'd prefer to know how those list of ingredients come together to make my meal. One of the guests would not have ordered the Jerusalem artichoke entree if he'd known it was pureed. The dish was still nice but not what they would have preferred. All in all can definitely recommend this to anyone.

Dealt with my mushroom allergy perfectly and gave me a lot of confidence knowing that my allergies were acknowledged and I wouldn't find any mushrooms in my lunch.
This place is only by reservation, I saw them turn away a couple who walked in, even though there was enough space for another few tables, I guess they want to keep a sense of exclusivity. The atmosphere was nice and the menu was very well thought out with great flavours. The staff however, although friendly, did not know the menu well, every question we asked had her running back to the kitchen to confirm. There was a steak on the menu that cannot be cooked to your preference, as it is only available in medium, and they also ran out of a dessert, so those 2 things slightly ruined the experience for me. Overall, it is a nice place to have lunch when you're in McLaren Vale, and I will give it another shot the next time im in the area.
7.9 Overall - 7.9/10 - We paid $90 for 3 courses. The food was good however I think on a balance the food quality/cuts/selection didn't necessarily justify the price. Having said that the setting was very nice so if you want a enjoyable lunch in a picturesque location it's a good option, just don't expect the food to be remarkable. Food Quality - 7.7/10 - It's hard to complain about the food however its also hard to rave about it. Atmosphere - 9/10 - Really nice setting Value for Money - 6/10 - At $90 for 3 courses it's expensive for the quality of produce.

What a beautiful setting for a sophisticated lunch! My friends and I had the three course option with wine pairing and it was a most delicious experience. The staff were so lovely, and accomodating to myself who is a vegan and my friend who is on a keto diet to manage her diabetes. While my husband and I sampled their delicious bread rolls the chef made some deep fried chicken skin for my friend. It was a wonderful brunch experience made very special by the atmosphere, food, wine, interior and service. Pricey but worth it for a special treat! P.S. the Biscoff cheesecake dessert is TO DIE FOR.

As it was a friend's birthday, we decided to go to the Current Shed for lunch. It was a bleak, wet day, but it was the warmth, friendliness and quality of the food that made the day. Our wait staff, Tarryn, looked after us extremely well. There was also no issue that I required a vegan menu. Several of the meals could be adapted, so there was no problem there. All 5 of us thought the food was outstanding. When it arrived at the table, it looked incredible. So beautifully presented on the plate. We are already planning another day there.

One of the best dining experiences in Australia without a doubt. This is confident cooking where the chef knows how to cook and season delicious food, provide a decent portion and plate beautifully. The options are very interesting with no 'dud' dishes. I love the addition of complimentary starters and a palate cleanser. Service is exceptional with friendly attentive staff who are efficient but carry out their work calmly and professionally. I very much like the ability to taste a wine before committing to a glass. Everything is done right here. This is my second time here, visiting from Melbourne. Keep it up.
Aesthetically pleasing and delicious food, served with friendly, efficient and knowledgeable service in a shed like dining room, surrounded by vineyards. One of the best meals I've had in quite a while. For entree, I had the chargrilled asparagus with a buttermilk dressing, followed by the beef sirloin, and my partner and I shared the biscoff for dessert. Thank you!

Chloe, chef Wayne and the team made my birthday lunch a very special occasion on 3rd November 2023. From the 7-star food to the 7-star service, it was a day my wife & I will not forget. Nothing was too much trouble, and they explained everything about the dishes and what to expect at each stage. It was like a flavour treasure hunt. P.S. I don't know why but google reviews is not accepting my pictures.

The Currant Shed and waitress Monica provided an exceptional experience. Their dedication to delivering amazing food, top-notch service, and a fantastic wine selection deserves high praise. Wonderful anniversary with my husband and just the most fabulous experience. Thank you Monica for being superior. Such little touches didn’t go unmissed.

It's was absolutely lovely. The setting is stunning, the service was fantastic; all staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious & looked amazing (hats of to the chef) and we'll spaced. I didn't feel rushed at all. It was a very relaxing lazy lunch with some lovely extra little special touches like; yummy homemade bread, canapes and even a sorbet/ palate cleanser before dessert. Great service! I would definitely recommend this venue.

Great venue with ample staff and attentive service. Amazing looking venue, we sat outside on a relatively warm day, there were fans outside which made it cool enough. Not a false step! Every dish was balanced, and the sequence of dishes worked exceptionally well with various ingredients being highlighted individually in some cases and other dishes displaying the chefs ability to blend highly contrasting flavours into something unique and special. Front of house were top notch, friendly, casual yet refined. Truly something special going on here and won’t be surprised to see them with more hats in the future. Well done and thank you for such a great evening !
I had a truly memorable lunch here. The service was brilliant from start to finish. As each course was served we were told a little about the ingredients which certainly added to the enjoyment of the food. All of the food was presented superbly and was very tasty. I had, for my main course, the Baramundi which was cooked to perfection.

Read so many good reviews of this restaurant and decided that it will be one of the two lunch venues for our two days stay in McLaren Vale. I took the 3 course with wine pairing. First time that I tried a Pinot Meunier (light red, high acidic) but it paired well with the richness of the braised goat. The Rare Muscat was delicious and paired very well with the rich and dense chocolate dessert. It was a good meal.
Absolutely sensational. 5 Star Fine dining. It’s quite an experience and the price reflects however I had no hesitation leaving a generous $50 tip for the impeccable service. Can’t wait to visit again.

Highly recommend a visit to the little gem! The staff were friendly and the food was full of delicious flavours. The kingfish starter and duck main were both full of fresh and interesting flavours, well thought out dishes which I would definitely order again. Even on a rainy May day, the outlook over the orchard was beautiful and the whole experience was perfect for a midweek lunch whilst visiting the area.
Four of us visited for lunch and enjoyed three courses and drinks. The food was outstanding. Great service where each plate was explained in detail. Excellent wine menu. I am really torn giving four stars instead of five because I understand you have to pay for quality, but $450 for four people for lunch is a bit over the top. We enjoyed ourselves immensely but there is a lot of competition in McLaren Vale.
Great food. Great service. very very helpful and emotionally intelligent crew and amazing place to have lunch next to wineries. what else one needs to make a family lunch memorable. One thing I should mention - it's not only food or vibe that makes a restaurant meal special - its the people who takes great care of you and your family to help the experience special. Thanks guys, I will certainly come back.
Decided to choose the Currant Shed for our wedding in November 2023 after having a few venues not work, and weren’t disappointed with our choice. Great little dining experience in McLaren Vale. The menu is nice and simple to order from but the dishes are quite special and extremely well presented. Every dish we tried tasted great, with quite generous serving sizes. The food was priced well and great value overall. Very polite and attentive staff which made the experience one to remember. This review is for 2019 pre-covid. We escaped Melbourne AFL grand finals weekend by coming to Adelaide. I tried most of the top 10 restaurants on tripadvisor during my visits to Adelaide and would rate the Currant Shed experience as the most bang for buck. The food was great and space laid back and unpretentious. Would love to visit again.
We had a lovely 6 course lunch over about 3 hours. All dishes were prepared to perfection, using lots of fresh produce from their own garden. The tomato dish with cucumber sorbet was so refreshing. Highlights for us was the tofu curry and the freshly baked bread. The steak and Enoki mushrooms was also amazing. Service was good and relaxed.
What a restaurant! A true delight nestled in McLaren Vale where the food and staff is incredible. A 5 star experience with faultless food, a place where kids are welcomed and catered for. The picturesque landscape with a rustic country feel makes this a perfect choice if you’re looking for an experience you’ll remember for a long time!
The most delicious food and the best service we have ever experienced! Our servers were attentive and very friendly, and made sure to check for dietary requirements. The food was beyond amazing and it's nice to know they are using local produce and supporting local wineries. We can't wait to come back for another meal
Took my fiancé here after hearing very positive reviews. We were both amazed with the food selection and the service provided from the staff. There are some great complex and interesting dishes which kept us guessing what was next! Portion sizes were on point but we certainly did not leave with empty stomachs!
Wow, what an amazing experience. Gorgeous setting, extremely delicious food beautifully presented. Attended by wonderful, polite, unpretentious & knowledgable staff. Perfect for couples or small groups. Indoor or alfesco seating under the vines overlooking vineyards with treelined backdrop. Well worth the $$
Had a wonderful three course meal with wine pairings for our anniversary. The Asian inspired dishes had wonderful flavours. Wasn't sold on the Botrytis wine when it was served cold, but once it warmed up, it was nice.

A hidden surprise and treasure, off the Main Street at McLaren Flat, literally located in the Vineyard.. High quality and very well presented menu treats. Helpful and knowledgeable staff, with an obvious Top Chef and team out the back. Would recommend advanced bookings, to avoid any disappointment.
Foodie heaven. Sunny, brightly lit dining in the middle of the vineyards. Loved their salmon and seaweed entree, their duck main as well. Beautiful food. Their 2 or 3 course menu is good value. They surprise you with little extra dishes between courses. Lovely staff. Highly recommended.
Absolutely amazing place and service, great little view especially with spring season. Great showcase of wine list and food can not fault! You can do a two course meal alone or do three course including dessert. Worth the price. Definitely recommend for a little romantic lunch away.
