What makes a great bar is quality conversation and after that the drinks will pour themselves! Gutherie Inn relishes in being a family/neighborhood bar and accepting everyone who enters. I felt right at home within five minutes of entering the building. I wouldn't have spent my a seven hour layover any other way!
Cocktails are the main focus here, and they are done well. The space is small, dark, and intimate, which worked well with the overall feel. The bartender seemed pretty nice, and he was playing a nice selection of dub and reggae while we were there. I'd go back for sure.
Came here for a beer which wasn't a choice because they only have three - this is more of a cocktail bar. I ordered a Moscow mule and it was very well balanced. This place is super tiny, but I liked the chill vibe with the reggae music and antique chandeliers.
This place is great for a private, intimate experience with a few people. There's a small, very secluded single-booth room in the very back that can seat about 8, and the front area has a few small tables. As long as you know it's not a bar
The Guthrie may be one of the few bars west of Lex in the area and luckily it's pretty damn good. I stopped in to grab a cocktail after grabbing food and a beer next door. There were a couple seats up front as well as in back so we had no
I miss this place. I decided to check on it recently, because Google Maps indicates it is open. Sadly, it is not. As I walked up to it, I was listening to Walls by Tom Petty and he was singing, "I can't hold out forever, even walls fall
Gutheries inn is my favorite bar in the lower east harlem / just-above-upper-east side area. It has nice atmosphere and friendly service. It is a bar where the tenders remember your name if you come twice. They have shuffleboard in the
Fun little dive-cocktail spot. Very unique for the neighborhood. Sure it's not The Dead Rabbit, or Apotheke, or Attaboy, or Dutch Kills, Fresh Kills, or Little Branch, but what it lacks in stature, it makes up for its simplicity. The
I wouldn't really call this a speakeasy as others here do. It's more of a tiny dive hallway bar that serves cocktails. That being said, it's my go to when staying at the in-laws around the corner. Tiny but effective and unpretentious.
I have only ordered beverages here, and I can attest to the craftiness that was involved in the construction of their drinks. I had their old fashioned, as well as some of the craft beer on tap. It is slightly on the more expensive
Its really small, if you have more than 10 people be ready to stand. No food, credit card only if 20 and over. For the area they have great beer, dark atmosphere but , , after two beers I rather walk somewhere else.
very cool speak easy without pretensions. The bartender is super friendly, and he mixes the best Moscow mule ever! you can seat at the window and stare at park av, or in the more intimate room at the back
If you're looking for a bar with a home like feeling then this is the place. The bartenders are great at making cocktails very friendly not too loud great music, and a great place to take a date. More
Had a wonderful time last night at The Guthrie Inn grabbing espresso martinis with a friend! The vibe is awesome and the bartenders are so friendly. Great spot to have a drink + catch some banter!
New owners that grew up on the block. They renovated the place but kept the warm character of the old Guthrie's. Great atmosphere, speakeasy, Cocktailbar but also pilsener and IPA on tap.
This place is the ultimate local hang! The old fashion is perfect, the Negroni is flawlessly balanced, and you’re guaranteed to enjoy your time in this hidden gem
Love this spot. Great people and feels like your own personal hideaway in a ski town but is factually within minutes of Mt. Sinai in the heart of uptown Manhattan.
Great little spot with an arcade machine table and shuffleboard. Good selection of cocktails with some basic beers and wines. Definitely worth a visit
It’s a quintessential New York speakeasy in its look, something I adore. It is less quintessential when it comes to the drinks and the vibe.
Low key cocktail bar. Excellent cocktails. Nice bartender. Perfect neighborhood spot for casual hangouts and date nights.
It was easy to find a seat here, and the bartender was very nice. Not a huge selection, only 2 beers on draft.
Hella overpriced. But good if you're a grad student at Mount sinai, and your professor is paying for drinks
This bar, in its newly renovated form, is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. Highly recommend.
Great neighborhood haunt. No frills, but great hang out with quality drinks that are affordable!
Fun cocktail spot on the upper upper east side. Drinks are a little expensive for the area.
Solid neighborhood cocktail spot. Friendly vibes. Very chill and laid back.
Bartender was rude and homophonic. Never felt more uncomfortable
The best of the best. 1000 stars
