This was my first experience with East African Cuisine and it most certainly won't be my last. I ordered the philly cheesesteak, beef, and cheesy breakfast sambusas. The flavors were off the charts. The wrap was light and the meat was on the cheesesteak and beef were seasoned to perfection. The cheesy breakfast was smh good. The eggs were silky smooth and melted in my mouth with every bite. The owners were extremely pleasant and guided me through my first experience. It's not too often you meet people that have a deep passion for what they do. They definitely have a love for their product and I felt that from the moment I walked in. This is definitely a must go to spot. So in conclusion don't MEET me there BEAT me there!!!

“The only chai that matters in Nashville” - yes, indeed! Dirty chai had a very robust cardamom flavor which is my favorite part of any chai. Also have novelty and alternatives like brown sugar chai which I was tempted by. Their signature sambusa is beef, but we tried the hot chicken sambusa and breakfast with cheesy egg. We liked the breakfast bc it seemed a bit more chewy and flaky, so cheesy and yummy. The hot chicken had good flavor, it actually reminded me more of a kimchi/chicken bc of the bits of cabbage/onion, but still a very nice homage to Somalia meets Nashville theme. There was a decent line, but well worth it. Many tables and booths to sit, very clean and cozy. Nice way to start your day or a quick snack after visiting the Lane Motor Museum if you’re tourists like us. You can buy chai and other nice gifts/merch as well.

Y’all! If you’re ever in the area in Murfreesboro rd just south of downtown Nashville near the Lane Motor Museum, go check out The Horn! This place is legit! The Somali Chai Tea is H.O.M.E.M.A.D.E. not from a mix and HOT! I came right when they opened on a Saturday and got their Cheesy Sambusas which are made right here in the premises along with their other flavors, beef, chicken, veg, Philly steak, Smokin BBQ. Those were the flavors the day I showed up. I bet they change. If you’ve never had a Sambusa before, think of them as the Lamborghinis compared to the Pintos that are Hot Pockets. Only these bad mothers are handmade along with the handmade flaky crust that is deep fried GBD! (Golden Brown and Delicious) Go check them out and support this family owned business!

I was only in Nashville for a night and my only regret is I couldn’t stay longer to come here again. The owner was very kind and accommodating. Very quiet and peaceful atmosphere and the food is something else. I don’t even know what to say about the food. Where do I begin? Ahh, yes. The Philly cheesesteak sambusa. Come here just for that. That’s an order. It is incumbent upon every able bodied citizen in Nashville to come here and eat at least 5 of those. Obviously the tea and coffee and the other pastries are elite as well but let’s give the Philly more attention. It’s a life changing experience.

We met the owner on our visit, Hasan. He was very friendly. The store was clean and comfortable to be in. Since it was our first visit he gave us a sample of the Chai without even asking. My mom ordered the Mocha and raved about it. I had a black Americano and it was a strong flavor but not bitter. We also bought the Simbasa (I think), they are seasoned wrapped meat and vegetable wraps and they were so good. The spicy mango sauce that came with it made it even better. We were going back home from our vacation in Florida and I can confidently say it was the tastiest food, the best coffee, and very affordable. Hasan also said everything was organic if that matters to you.

  • R R

The chai was on point! No commercial carton liquid chai here. The flavor was rich and the spice was on another level. The chicken sambusa was a melt in your mouth delicious; so good I had to get two to go. Glad my colleague brought me here during my Nashville conference visit. So you understand how good the chai was, I had to purchase a bag to stow in my suitcase for home. Love’ in it!

Literally the thought of this place makes my heart warm. The coffee is delicious. The food is delicious. I just moved to Nashville so finding a place this welcoming right off the bat has made moving so much easier. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming that it's like cheap therapy. It's so easy to feel disconnected and they do a really good job at making sure people remember that people exist and are important. The price is very good. Parking can get full sometimes, but not terrible. I would definitely recommend this place and have several times already. I would definitely visit again as I have several times.

  • Joy Bledsoe

Stopped at this cafe while waiting for a delayed flight to arrive. Got a dirty chai and a cheesy breakfast sambusa, which were both delicious. Their motto of “the only chai that matters” is 100% accurate—lovely level spice and not overly sweet. And the sambusa was really tasty. They also have a vegan sambusa option available. Finally, it’s a really airy space that is well decorated and great for working or socializing. Not too loud, crowded, or busy. I’ll definitely come back!

One of my favorite places in Nashville. I dream about this chai on days I can't make it here. Singlehandedly ruined all other chai in the city. All the sambusas are wonderful. My fave is the breakfast sambusa. The staff is incredibly friendly and so so kind. Must visit place in my opinion. Don't sleep on The Horn! Love to support a local Nashville gem.

It took awhile, but I was able to try the infamous sambusa at a local craft festival around the area. The beef sambusa was piping hot on the inside with a lot of turmeric and cumin. The pastry surround it is extremely flaky and soft (almost like a croissant). Their sambusa of the day was a Philly cheesesteak. This was also surprisingly good despite me being highly skeptical. While I don’t think it reminded me of a real Philly, beef and cheese wrapped in a fried exterior is always going to be good. No pictures of the food were taken because we forgot!

  • Cam M

Truly Nashville's hidden gem. The Chai teas are absolutely top notch and the sambusas (somalian samosas) are freshly made and crispy (delicious). Great for meeting friends and catching up, and they have free wifi. It has a kind of somalian atmosphere (without the war and instability), not as upscale as Ricks Cafe from the film Casablanca, but similar. It feels like a part of the neighborhood, and is my go to stop whenever I'm in town.

Just stopped in for a Latte after a visit to the shooting range a block away and I can say, in spite of the outward appearance this place has some great and welcoming staff and ambiance. Their Somali chai is really well done, reminded me of Afghanistan and east Africa. They could use some better presentation outdoors and probably a building upgrade, but they truly have the core of what makes for a great coffee place, the people. This place is worth stopping at even if you have to go out of your way.

We have not come across a place yet on our Nashville trip that hasn’t been fantastic. This place is no exception. Delicious chai and sambusas. If you want something a little out of the ordinary from your ordinary breakfast, definitely stop here.

Everything I've had here has been delicious! The chai is so good, but I had the philly cheese steak sambusa and had to immediately order another one, and I haven't stopped thinking about it everyday since. Highly recommend going to Lane Motor Museum and stopping at the horn afterwards for some great food.

Y’all. My husband and I left the airport this morning and was looking for a quick place to get coffee and a bite to eat and came along this place. It is FANTASTIC! We literally had to go in and get more sambusas because they were that good. The Philly cheesesteak were my fave and my hubby liked the chicken best but they were both so good. Coffee was great too! I wish we had a place like this in Jackson TN. I’d go all the time!

I love the sambusas and chai here! Y'all need to come on down to this quaint Somalian place! The whole staff is always friendly. The food is so delicious! If you like coffee or chai, come. If you want something packed with flavor, come for their sambusas. If you like other sweet treats, come for their malawax (like a crêpe) and cakes. You'd be missing out by passing up this restaurant.

We love this place! We visit a couple times a week. Either myself or husband to get breakfast sambusas and lattes for our crew. They are very nice and welcoming. The dirty chai is great! I have a sugar free latte and it’s amazing! If you’re in the area and need a quick bite and a ‘wake me up’ be sure to stop in. You won’t be disappointed.

My office ordered for delivery sambusas (veggie, chicken, and beef) and shahi chai from The Horn and I was blown away at the deliciousness of it all. I want to drink that chai everyday. It was perfectly balanced - not too sweet, not too spicy. The samosas were crispy and packed full of flavorful fillings. I will definitely be visiting in person as soon as I can for more!

This is not just a coffee shop. It serves African food and it's freaking delicious!!! We are from NJ and was just looking for coffee. When we walked in, I read the menu and decided to try beef sambusa...OMG! After trying it, I purchased a few beef and chicken sambusa, nafaqo and mandazi to bring home to my family and guests. They ❤ it too! This is definitely a local hidden gem

This is the second time that I´m here. The first time was just a strike of luck, this coffee place was in my way to work. The black regular coffee was great and the croissant was good too. But today I came to work here and let me tell you that the Somali Chai is one of the best chais I have ever had. It is delicious!!! also I have a doughnut great too.

Simple and effective. You've got 2 main options: drinks and Sambusas. You should also be aware of the sister Samalian restaurant next door, Madina. They have entrees, whereas you can think of the Horn as a breakfast/quick meal place. Friendly staff and good quality items. Don't miss the sauces on the bar to the left of the cashier. Super good.

Clean, quiet, polite service, free wifi. Traveling in the area for a couple days and GPS took me here after looking for closest place to my location. This is an almond milk vanilla ice coffee. 12 oz.
