I like that you can bring food in from other restaurants. They don't have Topo Chico but they do sell a local soda water. I went on a Friday night to meet up with some co-workers. The music from the band was excruciating, and I say this as someone who prefers her music loud. I stepped outside to read my book for a minute until the band went on break, and was approached by a man. Random Guy: What are you reading? Me: I'm reading. RG: I just want to know the title of your book. Me: *I hold the book up and start texting my fiancé inside" EG: *obviously trying to come up with a question to keep me there* My fiancé arrived quickly and RG shakes his hand. As I am getting up to go back inside RG holds out his hand to me. Me: I don't feel like shaking your hand. RG: *looks confused and hurt* My fiancé and I walked into the bar. I did not see RG again.

One thing I'll say they are true to their name. Apparently visitors are not welcomed to this local spot, which is sad because it's a phenomenal space & setup. My group & I encountered a rude and inept bartender on 1-17 at roughly 4pm. Didn't believe I was being a difficult customer at all, simply asked what type of beer was available. She couldn't distinguish between lager, pilsner, etc.and seemed frustrated by me asking. I'm not local to Texas and simply wanted to try a local beer to support the small business within the city. Not a very welcoming experience and the worst part of my groups overall amazing time in Austin. Plenty of better places to spend your money at.

I like this place because I can bring my dog. He is small and well-behaved though, so maybe they just don't say anything. There's a lady that goes here that has two dogs that are not friendly at all, yet she hangs out at the front so no other dogs can walk in without getting harassed. They have a pretty cool loyalty system there where you get a punch card and once you fill it up you get your own fancy mug and drink specials whenever you go. I believe it's a use-it-or-lose-it system so you can't just earn it abd then not go back for a while. They have pool and bean bags (Cornhole) and some other electronic bar games that I haven't really paid much attention to.

Madi and Kelly were AMAZING!! 10/10 Recommend going here! It was by far the best experience. We (me my husband, my friend and her husband)ended up here after going to a different bar that was EXTREMELY rude Kelly and Madi were truly wonderful. We chatted and they were very understanding when I didn't like a drink I ordered and replaced it no issues. My friend and I played pool and our husbands played bar games. Ask them about their punch cards!! The bar was busy enough to keep things moving but not over crowded that I was feeling anxious. It was a great experience We will definitely be back!

My wife was kicked out after another patrons non service animal got into our service dogs face. She was told our dog was being too aggressive and she had to leave after she had already been there for 3 hours with no issues until another patron walked up to her with his unleashed pet which proceeded to bark and nip at our animal. She is a disabled veteran and needs him to help her walk and get up and down stairs and off of chairs. Apparently pets are welcome but not actual trained service animals.

I walked in with my 7 day old child on a Sunday afternoon to catch up with an old friend and watch football. I was asked to leave because they do not serve anyone under 21. I think logically no one would be serving a 7 day old child. Being that this is a place that serves food, I would not expect to be refused service due to the presence of a child. I am not sure if this was some sort of legal violation but I wanted to make other new parents aware that this is not a place where you will be welcome.

At the risk of sounding ridiculous, here it goes. The younger (prettier) female bartenders are and have always been the issue at this place. They act as if they are doing you a favor whenever you ask for a drink. Eye rolls have been a consistent response along with a long sigh... The male bartenders do best along with the more mature female bartenders. I wonder what happened to Jackie. I live near by so I tried several times over the years. Same thing every time

If you’re looking for a bar you want to frequent at this is your place. Everything from bartenders to management to the karaoke DJ Dre are outstanding. Starting coming here after work with my girlfriend, now I go here for a drink after a long day at work with all my co workers. I’ve recommended Outpost to almost everyone I run into at the Bar that I’m employed at. Awesome drinks, great prices, friendly regulars and employees. What more can you ask for.

Great local bar with awesome bartenders and a friendly atmosphere. Whenever I want to cultivate a solid hangover in style, this is where I go. If you go often enough you'll earn a mug forged from the swords of long-dead Viking warriors, and it will be hoisted above the bar for all to gaze upon, and all of Valhalla will raise a pint and sing to your glory.

Nice place, good music with karaoke or live, live the furniture BUT man o man talk about watered down drinks. I drink nothing but Jack & Coke anywhere and everywhere. Got nothing but ice and Coke with a very small dash of JD. I'll be heading next door to Shenanigans where I can get a grown up drink. I like the place, maybe just needs a refresher in mixology. Otherwise it would be 5 stars.

This is definitely a locals-only joint. I was in the area and had a couple of hours on my hands. I met up w a friend who lives in the area and we sat at bar. We sat there for two hours and barely were served two beers. We had to flag down bartenders and it just seemed like a lot of work to get service. The locals obviously love the place and never had empty glasses.

Sure thing! Queen of Darkness at The Local Outpost isn't just your average bartender—she's got a smile that could light up the darkest night, and her espresso martinis are so good, they're practically a caffeine-powered party in a glass. If you want a good drink and a good laugh, she's your go-to gal!

I love this little hole in the wall bar! There’s always a chill vibe there. They have some great drink specials and some of the most comfortable bar stools. Along with that, they have bar games, darts, pool, and a few other things. This will become a weekly staple for happy hour for me and my friends.

  • Rob Nelson

Great bar with fun atmosphere. Always karaoke or bands playing. Good drink specials, and you become a regular you get your very own mug. Highly recommend this bar. There is no real food options here but they have corn hole, darts, and a smoking patio. Not sure what else to say but check it out.

  • Tabitha Padilla

I forgot my card (I'm used to places swiping a card to start a tab) and went to pick it up the next day only to find several $300 purchases made at a nearby Costco. The bar is kinda meh. Drinks aren't great. Patio is small. If it weren't for the credit card fraud I'd probably give it a 2.5.

  • Ashlynn Grandin

Checked this place out while visiting Austin for the long weekend. Asked bartender if there was a drink menu: “no.” Asked what type of beer was the lone star beer: “I don’t really know.” Felt like I was bothering her and just moved on. Perhaps not everyone’s money is worth their time.

  • michael wyborny

Manager David is a jerk. Bar ripped me off 12 bucks and he says I'm f'ed. Never again. Oh, and sense telling this story to others, they've told me the same thing about david... he's apparently there to not manage, but to play corn-hole all night. what a jerk. Never again.

  • Tim Brown

A large group of us went here for Friday night happy hour. Beer selection and service was fine but they played Rick Astley's "never gonna give you up" for 30 minutes straight because someone paid for it to happen. If you have a jukebox, you shouldn't allow that to happen.

  • C Travels

Neat layout, was excited to check this place out. Unfortunately closed my tab after just one drink due to how passive aggressive and unfriendly the bartenders were. I'm not from Texas so simply asked what was on tap. Not sure how people like that get such jobs. Bad vibes.

  • Brandon Edwards

I am a regular here (sort if...I am on my way to getting my mug) The staff are always pleasant and pay attention to your needs. I haven't had to wait on them at all really. It's gets busy and the crowd is full of nice people. Highly recommend this place to everyone!

  • Andrew Cormier

Awesome bar with awesome staff, live music weekly and some great grub that delivers (28" pie anyone? Or the awesome gyro from next door!). You just gotta watch of for those guys Kevin and Chase, they're always trying to get you to have more fun than you planned!

  • Daniel Tsosie

I came in not expecting much and got just the same in return. It is a dive bar, no more, no less. There is a bookshelf with books you can't read in the dim light, a foosball table, and some ring games. You want to drink past 12 in texas, this is a spot.

  • Zane Newton

Huge bar & grill with lots of amenities for the discerning patron. Excellent bartenders, large covered patio space, local owner, great beer selection, gaming machines, etc... If you don't go, you won't know what you're missing!! You can thank me later.

  • T Porterhawk

It's shiny and new. Service is average. Average drink prices, and jello shots were weak. It's a total sausage fest. The other patrons made it such that I'll never go there without an abundance of men in my group. Ladies night is better off next door.

  • MIKA Meyers

Pretty neat little bar, good selection of beer too. They have 2 pool tables, darts and a few other games, they are missing a shuffleboard table but thats about it. Live music on Friday nights and a kickass patio! What more could you want in a bar?

  • Danny

I played a show here, It was pretty good! I didn't go to the bar but it seemed nice. There was plenty of room to the side of the stage and in front of the stage/the 'audience' area. The stage wasn't so big, but I didn't have a problem with

  • Mark Blankenship

Love it! Great space, plenty of TVs, couches, darts, two pool tables, foosball, Golden Tee Golf, a 'Classics' arcade game, a couple of cornhole courts inside, and a nice (but small) patio. Great owner, great staff! Highly recommended!

  • travis burstall

Fantastic place, the bartenders have memorable personalities and great senses of humor! The owner is also a really fun guy who enjoys playing games like Cornhole and darts with the patrons. This bar feels like a home, and I love it

  • Miguel Guerrero

You might not guess this but one of the best Old Fashions I ever had was made by a guy at a GamingBar. He's now here. His name is Kelly. If you also like hearing how it all works bro can put it in layman's terms.

  • Castles made of sand

Great place to hang of play pool and darts. They do need better none alcohol options. I get it its a full bar. When I asked for water had to serve my self from a water keg at that point I lost my desire to tip.

  • Duane McKinney

Clean bar, lots of staff so the wait for a drink is super fast. Lots of games that are all in great condition. Live music. Super reasonable prices This place is really solid, and I'd recommend checking it out.

  • ricardo diaz

Best dive bar in the North Austin area. Kevin is a great owner and the bartenders are all amazing at there work. Live music, karaoke, and other events are held there I would recommend this place to everyone.

  • Joseph Gallegos

Kelly and Matty. Amazing bartenders hands down. Got stuff done during their shift but also found time to spend time with regulars. Will definitely recommend coming here. I will always come back to see them.

  • Darel Hutchison

If you are into the bar scene, this place is your venue. I don't remember much after winning the ring game but from what I was told, I had a good time! Fast staff, friendly patrons... I'd drink here again!

  • Isabell Pena

Great place to hang out for a couple drinks. Karaoke on Tuesdays is fun, the host is entertaining. Go for the atmosphere and friendly staff, stay for the drink specials and you'll always have a good time.

  • Pete Okopinski

Not a single person was wearing a mask, this includes the bartenders. I wish this place is more inviting because it is so close to my house but I don't like going here because I never feel welcome.

  • Nelson Broussard

Bartender wasn’t that friendly asked for a beer and he brings be a different beer for almost 6 dollars really? Not a mug either a small glass I’ll try somewhere else for sure

  • Blake Jeffrey

Very fun bar. Awesome bar staff. Clean and smells like leather. Become a regular and you get your own mug. It's a mixed bag with the crowd and it gets a little wild sometimes

  • Kira Langsjoen

Solid bar for a drink, great happy hour deals, lots of options for games -- pool, shuffle board, darts, etc. They even host things like cornhole competitions. Very cool!

  • mooch moocherini

Great folks here. Everyone is just hanging out, having a good time. Drinks are solid, and there's usually some sort of live music on weekends. Just go, you'll like it.

  • Mike Marcom

Can only give feedback from one visit but is friendly bar with large cadre of regulars who participate in their frequent "flyer" program. Has large indoor games area

  • Louis Jakiel

I drove over 30minutes to get an old fashion from Kelly. And I absolutely would do it again. Absolutely one of the best bars in the area would rate higher if I can.

  • Philip Neal Combies

Spacious NW Austin bar/pool hall with live music and good acoustics. Great bartenders making reasonably priced drinks while providing world class customer service!

  • Sarah Stein

Nice bar in NW Austin by Shenanigans. They have corn hole, pool, darts, etc. And we love the couches! Just a nice, clean, and relaxing bar with a country vibe.

Pet friendly, cool games, cheap drinks and great staff. Last time I went there the waitress read my lips from across the bar to take my order. #overqualified
