"This is a pretty good museum and definitely worth the visit if you’re in Charlotte! The layout is a bit awful, and it is on the smaller side compared to some art museums I’ve been to, but it was a great stop on my list! (You will spend an hour or so here) Admission prices are fair, but it can be pricy with a large group of people"
"I'm so glad I went to the museum on the suggestion of a friend"
"Sadly this is not a museum to bring kids too"
"Really enjoyable exhibit space with a good selection of interesting items"
"I went with my partner during Pride weekend and the admission fee was free"

(You will spend an hour or so here) Admission prices are fair, but it can be pricy with a large group of people. Definitely check out their free nights (great date night) and ask if they have discounts. I’m military affiliated, and showed my ID, and got in free! Overall, it’s a good museum and worth visiting. Be prepared to look at a lot of pottery!

I'm so glad I went to the museum on the suggestion of a friend. Outside of the unique art collection, the building and the art museum grounds are lovely. The staff, two ladies, were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They really went out of their way to be kind. I was honestly having a down day and going here really made my day and cheered me up. I love how all the art work is sectioned off in different rooms. The experience is like journey. Probably one of my favorite art museums now.
Sadly this is not a museum to bring kids too. There are just too many inappropriate items that I don’t want my children staring at. I do enjoy their temporary exhibits that they change out. I enjoyed the fashion one they had before the most. I also like the fine China room wit all the pretty tea pots and plates. But, otherwise there is just not a lot of art that is worth seeing. If going, I definitely recommend the free nights they have every Wednesday after 5pm.
Really enjoyable exhibit space with a good selection of interesting items. Buying a ticket at this location also granted me free(ish) access to the Uptown branch that day and the following day. This location has a significant number of glass art items that were really nice and would have been just as at home in The Corning Museum of Glass.

I went with my partner during Pride weekend and the admission fee was free. If you're thorough and read through almost every piece, you can spend up to 4 hours here! The museum seemingly changes their exhibitions so keep a look out if there's something you really want to see. The establishment also has a little shop downstairs where you can purchase goodies.

My family and I went there for my mom bday outing. They had really had some very interesting art collections. The only we didn’t like was the security officers following us around. They really made us feel uncomfortable. And then we also heard some racism in there too. Anyhow we won’t be back!!!

There are portraits of Queen Charlotte and King George III here. The original artist (Scotsman named Ramsay) did the faces, but they are copies. I also find the gold coins minted in Charlotte back in the 1800s interesting. This building was a mint, and Confederate headquarters and hospital in the Civil War. It was saved from demolition and moved from uptown to its present location in 1936.
Our first visit. The ladies up at the front are very helpful and sweet natured. The museum shop is packed with neat gifts that support the art. We really enjoyed this museum! Exquisite art and a very neat area for local Charlotte artists to exhibit their work. There was a lovely wedding being set up and we got to witness a groom have his photos taken. This place is definitely a must see!
Went on a Wednesday on their free night (6-9pm). It was great, had a chance to walk around with coworkers and look at a really diverse array of items. Not being guided was an opportunity to go at my own pace and really enjoy what we saw. High recommend it.

The collection is nice - better than most of the other Charlotte museums. But I would not recommend making a special trip for the Mint. I would recommend going to The Triangle and exploring art there (for NC art). The facility itself is amazing: large, the art is displayed wonderfully, and well staffed. And, there seems to be a good amount of events for the public.
The Mint Museum on Randolph Street is lovely. It has a lot of history and culture from all over the world. The staff is very professional and inviting. The grounds are beautiful. If you're looking for quiet inspiration this really fits the bill.

My experience was horrible. For some reason me and my sister were followed around by security guards the whole time like we were going to steal a painting or something. It was extremely insulting. I will never ever go back to this horrible place again and I suggest no one does unless you like being stalked by guards that have nothing better to do than judge you.
LOVE this museum! I took my boyfriend here last year while he was visiting and we were both very impressed. It had so many interesting exhibits without being "too much" or too overwhelming to see it all in one day. We also saw a wedding being set up on the bottom floor which was beautiful and a great idea.

If you're interested in ceramics (Wedgwood, Meissen, Chinese, etc.) then this is your place. I learned about the interaction between contemporary Japanese and North Carolina pottery. I loved the many rooms devoted to Inca and Maya cultural artifacts. Didn't know that what the Spanish conquistadors called Peru was most of South America.
The Mint Museum is an incredible spot to visit and one of the most well-known art institutions in Charlotte. The museum offers two locations – uptown and downtown. Mint Museum Uptown highlights the American Art collection including the famous American impressionists, the craft and design collection, and the Modern and Contemporary Art.
Well kept building which is history itself. The museum collection is excellent for such a small place and has artifacts that are locally relevant too. The history of the mint itself is informative but could use updating. The grounds are beautiful. The museum is a bit out of the way and not a place you will come to by chance.
1 full floor and 2 half floors. Interesting mix. Can be done in little over an hour. Ticket here is also good for the other location and for 48 hours. Bletchley will give you a discount and vice versa.

Nice museum away from the city center, it is associated with The Mint Museum Uptown. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit a couple years ago. Just haven't had the opportunity to return. I forgot now but it's either Tuesday or Wednesday evening offer FREE admission after 5 PM. Great place to visit and check out exhibits.
There were a lot of porcelain collections from all over the world. The collections were diverse and inspiring. They also offer free admission to military service personnel and their family.

Lovely museum, hope to get to walk in the park next time, we were there to escape the summer heat. Beautiful collection and friendly staff, it’s on the smaller side but we enjoyed our visit there, our family loves this one more than the uptown location.

Outdoors is where it's at-- unfortunately the inside exhibits lack garnering much attention. Lots of outdoor room to run dogs, a park like setting, blown glass in the planters, a large circular driveway with a beautiful fountain. The lobby is classy and can be rented for events like wedding receptions.
Had a great visit! The museum is full of amazing exhibits ranging from mezo-america to contemporary pottery. Didn't have a chance to see the gardens, but hope to come back soon!

I loved the free event today, giving all the community a chance to explore the exhibits. This piece was my favorite, i love the eyes, the quote from the artist "I LOVE ART" and the swirling faces under the clock. There's so much to see in this one piece but the museum offers so much more.
Really enjoyed the Walter Scott Lenox American Belleek exhibition! The pieces are just lovely and tell such a unique part of American history. It is totally worth the peruse

Very interesting collection, beautiful surroundings, and very friendly staff. You should go when you have 2 days to go to both museums, the one on Randolph Rd., and downtown Charlotte. You buy 1 ticket and it's good for both locations over 2 days.
Went here with my wife a while ago. We loved it. One of the coolest places we've been to in Charlotte. We loved seeing the 10 ft tall paintings of king George and queen Charlotte. and all the different pieces of history they have to offer.
A really good museum. This has lots of variety from coins to pottery to glass to paintings. The layout is a little confusing but once you get it the themes are nice and the descriptions are more informative from a historical perspective.
Loved it! On the smaller side, but definitely punches above its weight in terms of objects and interpretation.

Great museum with lots of beautiful art. They currently (August 2019) have an exhibit on work by Tony DiTerlizzi which we spent a full hour in. I loved seeing the art from the Spiderwick Chronicles up close!
Several Interesting galleries to explore with a variety of mediums. You will also be able to enjoy the greenway nearby. Visited on a Wednesday evening.

The collection of South American art was awesome. They had this freaky burial urn used during rituals and this sculpture of a shaman wearing the flayed skin of a woman (so Ed Gein). I love this place.
Much larger than I imaged! Cleanly laid out and a magnificent grounds to explore. Remember that a ticket is good for two days at both this location and Uptown. Free shuttle between the two I hear!
Spectacular - much larger than I expected. Art history of the world; many genres highlighted. If you enjoy reading display notations, plan on a full day (but no cafe etc. inside).
My boyfriend and I went there for our 2nd month anniversary it was lovely we had fun!!!

We went and enjoyed it. It's in a beautiful neighborhood and I loved how the building has been kept the same for the most part, over the years. More
Final 2021 "Party at the Park" today. Free admission to see exhibits. Live music & cash bar on the front terrace + food truck. Fun!! More
Beautiful grounds. Lots to see, but small enough to go through in an evening. Good variety of exhibits. Free on Wednesday nights! More
We attended the Party in the Park today. Anna Sui fashions were the main exhibit. We had a great time. The event was family friendly.
I enjoyed my visit. Very educational. The staff pleasant and welcoming. Will visit again. This was my first time but not my last.

The museum was really nice mostly art work and pottery from different countries. I enjoyed the outside more then the inside.
It is mainly a Pottery with a little extra extra museum with interesting pieces. Love the park and the space too. More
Kids had a great time at this small but fun museum. Best part is learning about old ceramics like an 1810 lighter!
Really enjoyed this location more than uptown! Lots of European and Asian art. Will go again. Highly recommend!
Party in Park was a very nice experience for my family during our weekend road trip from Atlanta to Charlotte
Really enjoyable exhibit space with a good selection of interesting items.
