Worst hospital my 26 year old son with no medical history , he walked in Mount Sina hospital queens and is now fighting for his life now in mount sinai upper east side hospital. He was in neuro critical care unit someone transferred him to not even step down unit but to medical care without letting us know even the nurses said he needs constant monitoring I told the doctors repeatedly but they didn’t listen the third day he had a respiratory failure and his oxygen level dropped to 70 he is on ventilator there was no doctor available the poor nurse was running around to look for a doctor he pull the code long story short doctors came he got saved and they said he belongs in critical care.now once again they transferred him down the first day he had fever of 104 he needed a cooling blanket when I got to him l saw a thermal blanket instead of cooking blanket the nurse said it’s a cooling blanket and that’s what we use here I called the supervisor she saw the blanket and said someone made a mistake . In mount Sinai hospital the progressive unit nurses don’t even know the difference between cooling and thermal a patient next door just went brain dead infront of us her daughter was telling the nurse that her mother is having hard time breathing the nurse told her don’t look at the monitor it’s not working correctly and minutes later she was brain dead horrible plz keep your loved ones away from this nightmare hospital even the patient representative do not answer your calls I have first hand experience. I will have updates soo..((01/12/23))update his oxygen level dropped again multiple requests to the patient representative and to the doctors that we want him to be transferred to another hospital but they don’t care we are not satisfied with the care he is receiving in this hospital l am literally begging them to transfer my son for days he’s getting worst...H E L P…it’s been more than a week I am requesting to transfer my son out of mount Sinai hospital system but nothing is being done same excuse you have to find a excepting hospital even the patient representative doesn’t care. How corrupt New York Medical system is even they didn’t bill the insurance properly so they denied the claim I talked to my insurance they said the hospital didn’t file properly if they do we will accept it I guess there’s something going on to get money from Medicaid…update ((2/12/23))today my sons coded again his heart stopped and they had to do CPR I know they will kill my son because of their negligence patient advocate or social worker nobody is helping me save my sons life it’s happening infront of my eyes and I am so helpless please someone HELP even now the doctors are not willing to move him back to critical care he needs constant monitoring but human life has no value after repeatedly making mistakes and later on admitting it but still don’t want to listen ((12/4/23)) update someone pulled his breathing tube while changing him he was in such a bad pain that his heart rate went up to 153 and oxygen dropped into 70’s they didn’t know how to fix it gave him pain meds l don’t know how long he will be able to take this abuse I know that the hospital representative read this review and still doesn’t care my son is in 9west room 114B it’s been two months and they don’t have any diagnosis I want him transferred to another hospital…12/04/2023 update Today the social worker told me that she started the transfer procedure let’s see I am hopeful she will help me save my sons life from this horrible and inhumane place..((12/05/23)) update Today once again they told me that the transfer is not possible because the administration of NYU is not willing to accept him it’s hospital politics and a person’s life has no value I don’t know how many people lost there lives because of this and how many more lives will be lost before the healthcare officials will wake up another sad day hopefully my son will survive another day. today the hospital staff seems like a little more active

February 2022 I was suffering from post covid19. The hospital is very busy some of the doctors are very young and inexperienced. Others outstanding and dedicated professionals. I had a number exams and I'm still suffering with the post covid19 conditions. Some of the nurses and technicians were outstanding including the transportation workers. I was there for eighteen hours no food or snacks. I was suffering from malnutrition. Eventually. A kind technician gave me a meal so could make it through the night. Every one was proactive. While I was waiting for my exam a elderly man was thrown into the air by the security officers. Endangering patients and staff. And the doctor was laughing and happy about him being dismissed from the hospital in a brutal and overt manner. This was unprofessional behavior. Including, the use of excessive force by the security department. Who is training and supervising these security officers? Mount Sinai is not a law enforcement venue or prison facility. This was unprofessional and inlawful punishment alledge against a poor man.The doctor was rude and unprofessional. You cannot treat people inhumane way. We have laws in this country and patients rights and hippa laws. When you enter the building for medical assistance the security officers are rude and verbally demanding. Demanding total inspection of your property. The New York City police department follows rules and police procedures. Including, other law enforcement agencies. We are not living in a police state and mount Sinai security does not have the right to use excessive force. In addition, if a patient is the emergency room more than eight hours waiting for exam they should be provided a meal and beverage. And adequate care a clean bed and snacks. And patients should be treated by the security and front desk with the utmost respect . Not talking and discussing frivolous gossip while you are waiting for admission. I would have never gone to Mount Sinai I had nothing but he'll on earth with the billing department including waiting for a meal in the cardiology department. I'm still waiting for a return message from my doctor in cardiology in reference to my medication. It was send on the Mount Sinai application this is proper legal protocol. It been two months and I'm still waiting for his answer. Some of the nurse's are outstanding and patient others have deficits at this hospital. I hope the administration considers the premise of my argument and does a comprehensive investigation. And remove employees who have deficits. Including, doctors who fail to respond. And nurse's and security officers who are unlawful. My argument doesn't reflect the kind hard working health care workers I engage with meaningful conversations. And there outstanding dedication. The administration, is failing to erridicate the flaws in the health care system. Make a change Mount Sinai, The hospital has long legacy of providing good health to the world. I was very disappointed with my experience with some of the employees.

my experience with Ob/Gyn called a few times to get a scheduled sonogram not only did the person over the phone was playing transferring me to different departments but not listening to my request I needed to speak to a nurse to schedule my sonogram. This is supposed to be a magnet hospital and the people should act more professionally. I was sent by my doctor to get a sonogram and the nurse over the phone the doctors here don't know what they are doing. To me, this is not very professional of her I as the patient don't need to feel like I can't trust the doctor. That's not the only issue in this hospital I was scheduled for surgery and the day of the surgery I felt so uncomfortable the noise in the waiting room was unbelievable I wish I can upload my video to the urology/ Ob/gyn the nurse station floor was hanging out area for everyone to talk about what they did over the weekend. it was so loud my blood pressure went up and I was very anxious it was so loud I closed my door. I received anxiety medication and was put to sleep during surgery. After surgery, I have transferred to the recuperating room there the nurse was so rude she wakes me up so abruptly that I had to raise my voice and tell her I don't understand anything you are saying to me right now have some patience. Her lack of patience pisses me off like seriously, she wakes me up doesn't even introduce her self I was asleep still and doesn't even say where I am like if I knew her name I would mention it here. It's scary how so many people in this profession don't have any concern about their patients is scary. Mt. Sinai is a great hospital I love going here because for every bad apple there's Always some good and welcoming professional my second nurse was great she shows concerned for me and was very caring I felt human the way she was calling me by my name and taking me to the restrooms when I need it. After every visit, there should be a survey the patients can submit because people like her should not go unnoticed by the way the lady was Asian and her name is Aileen. Update post-op it took me about two weeks to notice my Karen Scott gray sweater was missing similar to the ones the nurses used in the hospital. Patient care begins once the patient enters the hospital not only do they fail to provide good service but the items I gave them in the open bag I put 6 items only receive bag 4 my sweater and undershirt were missing. Whoever is doing this I hope you get caught and fire from the job it looks is not their first time. This person must be very aware of how vulnerable patients are after surgery. Loss and found better look into this hospital have a thief and are not even aware of this.

Stay away!!! My loved one had a surgery this week. What a horrible experience. Poor communication from registration desk. Waited for over 2.5 hours to come to pre op, no communication at all, I had to come up to the front desk multiple times to make sure we were not forgotten. In pre op area, everyone runs around and appear very busy and careless. Multiple physicians in training approach you without any introduction that they are residents or their role on the team. You see attending physicians and your fantastic doctor, who is the only reason you came to this hospital in the first place, for less then 2 minutes and then never again. The doctor did briefly call me post op with ‘ everything is fine’. I attempted to see my mom an hour after her surgery, the patient liaison told me in a very annoyed voice it was less then an hour and I could not see her or get any information until she was there for two hours. When I insisted that I wanted a status update from my mom’s nurse, she got extremely visibly angry; she did however call mom’s nurse in the recovery. When I saw how angry she got, I apologized and asked for her name, Stephanie Guerrero pulled out her Id and told me I can ‘feel free to take a picture’. She told the Pacu nurse on the phone that I wanted a status update even though she told me I had to wait for full two hours from patients arrival there. Nurse gave me the same ‘ you have to wait another hour, when I pressed for a status update, she said ‘ she is fine’. I cried for the next hour, still no calls. I again came up to the front dest, after 2 hours, I was instructed to wait, I was given a paper with directions to Pacu on another floor. It was hours by the time we could go home. The nurses in Pacu and recovery room were pleasant and caring. The overall ambiance of personnel in the hospital is unprofessional, tons of working staff are on their cell phones even in the patient care areas. Many staff members walk around in their scrubs and back packs, even in pre op area. Because they are wearing back packs in pre op, it looks like those are the same scrubs which are worn to the operating rooms. Important end of life conversation take place in a busy waiting area for everyone to hear. Fasciitis are visible dirty aside from the main beautiful pattio sitting areas. I pray my family member recovers well from the procedure; I am very grateful for all the care. This was a disappointing hospital experience, what a SHAME for Mount Sinai! If given other options, I would not go back to this hospital and would advise everyone to avoid it until they figure out how to improve!

Went in for a simple scan, that’s exactly what was directed by the doctor. Instead, we waited 4 hours for blood tests and X-Rays that were completely useless to diagnosing the issue. Though it was profusely told to us that it was necessary in order to rule out any other issues. Fine. Next we are recommended to receive a CT scan which would include the use of iodine injected directly into the veins. We were told that this would be necessary in order to check for a possible blood clot in the lungs. What was not made clear was the fact that this procedure leaves the patient at risk for death due to allergic reaction. This was noted only on the documentation which we then immediately rejected. Instead we were recommended the original scan that we came to the hospital for. Go figure. So after waiting 7 hours in a cramped, over stuffed emergency room, stuffed to the brim with patients to the point of fire hazard due to blocked exits, and inhabited by some overly friendly flies, the scan was finally given. We then were forced to wait two more hours for the results. A doctor told us that the results would determine what would be the next necessary steps for treatment and then proceeded to disappear to who knows where and never return to deliver the information promised. Finally 9 hours in were told that the issue is pneumonia determined by the scan that we originally came for. We were told that we would simply need to wait to receive one dosage of antibiotic and then be discharged and good to go. The nurse assigned to us then proceeded to somehow take 2 hours to get the medication. She was directly asked two times for an update on the medication. The second time she lied directly in response by stating that she would only be a few minutes. Instead she dispersed all her patients and went home. Finally after 3.5 hours of waiting for one dose of medicine to be able to go home, the new nurse actually did her job and set up the antibiotics. All in all this somehow turned into a 12 hour day. And of course we weren’t the only ones. A woman in front of us waited three hours and asked 5 different people simply to receive her pain medication as she groaned in agony. Another woman was completely forgotten and fell asleep on her stretcher only to be woken by a nurse and told she could have gone home hours before. If you can avoid going to this hospital, please do. For the sake of your own sanity.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! The worst hospital in NYC. Poor hygiene on patients is out of pocket !!!! They do not care for anyone. Patients are NOT getting theyre sheets changed my dad had dried blood on his sheets for two days the same gown all dirty I have pictures!!! Sheets even smelled bad! Horrible I wonder if this is how they would treat theyre loved ones as well. THEY DO NOT CLEAN ! This place is gross garbage of needles all over floors blood all over the place. Please do your self and your loved ones a favor do not come here they do bot treat patients with care. They do not care about anything ! &. Lets not speak about the medical malpractice in this ppace theyre all young they do not know what theyre doing. They want to do all these surgerys and procedures without knowing anything. Doctors and nurses will tell you two different things. They have you confused. They call you harrasing you telling you your loved one has to get this type of procedure or surgery and if you say no they tell another doctor to call and tell you the patient is going to die if you do not comply. They do not respect your desicions. This is horrible. All they like to do is intubate all patients do surgerys that are not even needed. Then they tell you oh we thought the problem was there but never mind now we have to do something else. They do not know what they are doing please do your self a favor do not go here. And lets not talk about these social workers too they do not even know what theyre doing they do not help in anything I dont even know why they exist. These doctors and nurses do not care about the patients they are rude. They just want to be doing meetings every other day planning the next step how to charge your insurence more money for having the patients in there & to keep learning. Do not go here ! Do not take your loved ones here, they will not be treated well. I hard to learn this the hard way. They are killing patients doing too much just learning whole time my father was there not once I met with an older doctor all youngings. I told them I wanted to transfer my dad to another hospital I was denied to do that. They said I couldnt move my dad from this hospital how could this be ? I had no saying over my loved one ? I had to do what they said ? They said he had to stay there this is horrible.

I was seen in the ER Madison Ave and E.99th street location for chest pain. From the time I arrived at around 10:15pm - 4:38am my experience was horrible. I encountered 3 nurses that were for the patients as well as the doctor. After my daughter left I was basically on my own suffering from bad chest pains a nurse that took me inside basically forced me to switch from the wheelchair to another didn’t bother to assist me the chair I was told to transfer to was wet she( the nurse stated it’s bleach you can sit. I said why would I sit in bleach her tone was disgusting very poor customer service I was taken for X-rays and was told I had fluid on my lungs possibly caused by a blood clot the doctor preformed a sonogram of my heart and lung’s reviewed the results with the senior doctor on call and I was told the radiology tech misread my results the end result was inflammation in my chest. I was tested for Covid twice due to the first test being lost. A nurse that was sent to draw blood checking my hand for a vein I said why are you checking my hand when I have an open line already she used a flush drew blood from my arm then used the tube to take the blood sample after got the flush that was mixed with blood to flush my IV. My overall experience was unreal then my daughter said she was basically put out with my 6yr old son. While waiting for a cab she was told she had to stand outside the hospital entrance isn’t a cab stand. The staff in the C area was loud it was more like someone’s living room then a hospital room not to mention while watch TV in the patient area 1 of the nurses stood in front the TV turned the channel didn’t ask if I was watching it nothing. I give 2 stars because the doctor was very explanatory about my condition introduced himself as well as had a visible ID as well as the 3 nurses that assisted me. The rest of the staff that worked in that area im not sure who they were they just wore scrubs and used language as if they were on the street it was to my surprise the head Doctor didn’t address their behavior

***GP 10 West*** Front desk/concierge absolute worst!!!! How dare you take a job knowing the risk and still not want to do your job?! Gives attitude to anyone trying to get any kind of answers when we’re visiting our sick loved ones. No one answers the phone when I call from the patient room and can visibly see you sitting on your cellphone ignoring the phone being rung. You’re scared of getting infected with COVID19 then don’t work in the COVID19 floor and give attitude to patient families. We are scared too but more scared of having someone we love die at your negligence. I am completely aware that we are in the middle of a pandemic, everyone not just hospitals have a shortage of staff. But the level of care for patients who are admitted specifically those who have dementia/cannot advocate for themselves need to be watched more closely. The level of care and patient experience at this Hospital is the worst I have ever seen in my entire life. 10th Floor -10 West should be ashamed to have anyone licensed to take care of people. People are being monitored via camera and rounds are suppose to be every 20 mins with only 2 nurses on the floor in the evening instead of 8. How is it OK to have anyone monitored via camera ? A lot of these patients are being ignored and neglected which causes unwanted anxiety which leads to elevated blood pressure. I know we are all dealing with our own personal/professional things but please if you are unhappy at your job then you need to leave. There are thousands of brand new nurses who just graduated and would love to take your job and actually give these patients the care they deserve and not be treated like scum. Special shout-out/kudos to: Freddy, Samentha, & Lydia for being a human being with a heart and not just seeing a dollar sign. God bless you all. Everyone else needs couching and counseling and a customer service ELearning training because they are representing this hospital the worst possible way. I just hope no one has to die in order for things to change.

The 5 stars are for the ER and the ICU (medical and transplant) My sister passed away last week after battling alcoholism, and the many complications which followed having hip surgery for septic joint. She was in the hospital for about a month and eventually was on multiple life sustaining medications and mechanical ventilation with no hope for recovery. The icu providers were extremely compassionate, from the pcts, housekeeping staff, doctors, NPs, RNs, and anyone else my family and I interacted with, they were respectful, and showed Empathy, seeing that our family member was not getting better. I give ZERO stars to the surgeon who performed my sisters surgery Dr. C Moucha, and her Liver specialist Dr Gene Im, No one from either specialty called or came to speak to anyone in my family to offer condolences and just say im sorry that your family member is dying after complications s/p hip surgery. NO ONE contacted us. The surgeon stated to my mother he would call us after her surgery to let us know she was ok, and he never did that. I had to call the recovery unit many many hours after her surgery and speak to a PA who gave me an update stating she was “fine.” the NP who works with Doctor IM treated my sister like a lunatic when she would call her from her hospital bed to help her with her emergency leave of absence forms for her job so that she wouldn’t get fired and no one would assist her, after she was on her death bed I find out her liver and kidneys had completely shut down which causes high ammonia levels my sister wasn’t in her right mind. She battled alcoholism for more than 20 years, and in the end was not treated humanely by her liver doctor. Thank god for Her nurse in her final days “Z”, the palliative care doctor and social worker who called me after she passed, who sat with my mother and I and offered genuine emotional support, and the doctor and NP in ticu who were there in her final hours, and doctor Devivo who was so very caring and checked in multiple times the entire shift.

I was at this hospital for a month and in an ENTIRE MONTH I had two good nurses and one good aide. That should tell you something about the nursing care in this hospital. But that’s not even the main point of this review. During part of my time there, Dr. Truong was my attending. She was absent and didn’t round on me for multiple consecutive days and didn’t provide medical care and pain relief. I requested other disciplines to consult and was lied to by residents and promised consults that never happened. I didn’t receive adequate care and spent nights curled up in pain, without relief. I seized multiple times and neurology was not consulted and my seizure meds were not adjusted and therefore I continued to seize. For individuals who go into a profession and promise to First Do No Harm, you’ve got some nerve! And then, there’s the social worker, Ms. Molly Hanko. From the beginning, Molly botched my discharge. From telling facilities that my COVID vaccine status is unknown, when I had in fact supplied it to multiple people in the hospital multiple times (and I was vaccinated and boosted and I had provided that information) AND she had many opportunities to ask me whether I was vaccinated herself but chose not to ask me and instead told those facilities that she didn’t know if I was vaccinated and therefore they decided not to take me. When I confronted Molly about this and told her that I knew about this, she badmouthed me to several other facilities and banned me from them so I ended up having to go to a subacute facility. In all of my time being hospitalized, I have never had to go to a subacute facility. I have only ever had to go to a subacute rehab after having been hospitalized at Mount Sinai Hospital. The care here has been absolutely horrific. If there was a Zero Star rating, they’d get that from me! If you have anyone you CARE about, let alone LOVE, do yourself a favor and do not send them to this hospital for medical care!

I had major brain surgery requiring a 4 day stay. Turn to two weeks later I felt like I was dying. Dizzy, pain in my neck, light headed etc. I arrived with my mom at 9pm didn't get to be seen until about 3am. It was packed that late at night. If it wasn't for a good amount of patients using the emergency room for stuff they can pick up at their local pharmacy (even if it is 3am 24 pharmacies do exist..one girl was there for I kid you not to see if she was pregnant or not) I'm sitting in a chair in the ER waiting for a bed in the ER shivering in excruciating pain with a blanket over me and she is there to see if she is pregnant it's called EMERGENCY ROOM for a reason. And it's not like she thought she was pregnant and was having pain she was chatting away with everyone saying she thinks she might be pregnant hasn't taken a test yet from the pharmacy even telling me she usues the ER as her primary care physician. If it wasnt for all the non emergencies clogging up the ER the wait would not be so horrendous. Finally an angel of a Dr appeared he was a resident I believe his name was Dr Rice and he was just awesome. Told me it would be a little bit for a CT scan but would keep be as comfortable as my blood pressure would allow even allowing me to pick what pain medication I wanted. Anyway I wound up being admitted upstairs for a week but spent 24 hours in the ER waiting to get a bed upstairs. Dr Rice left for his shift and came back for his shift while i was waiting to be brought upstairs. Anyway I've been in this emergency room countless times due to chronic medical issues but that first time was time that stuck out the most. 5 star review because the staff can't do anything about people showing up at 1am with hangnails and every other ER visit and sometimes admission was a lot quicker than 24 hours.

By far the absolute worst experience of any hospital yet. Ironic because I avoided the Brooklyn location for this same reason. Little did I know I would be commuting over an hour for an even worse experience. The ER is packed beyond belief, this can not be by code per the buildings department. The patients are packed like sardines, it’s repulsive. literally no room for anyone to even walk, they lined up stretchers in the hallways. They keep saying they have no available rooms, yet keep taking in more patients. It’s day two now and still nothing. We had to wait for cardiology to give clearance for an endoscopy. Hours after the cardiologist visit, I follow up with our nurse and she tells me we are still waiting to hear back from a cardiologist, I had to inform her that we already met with one. She had no clue. She also said there were no requests in from him to get back on anything (how would she know that when she didn’t even know he stopped by? Without even checking the system?). When I asked her to reach out to him, She kept giving me the “you’ve got to give me a second” and she’d disappear. I’m not sure if they are just short staffed or there’s poor communication or if this is just a learning center where all the newly graduates are sent, but this madness needs to be sorted out. Peoples lives are at risk, and I see lawsuits written everywhere. I can go on and on, my diabetic father is given sugary juices for lunch etc. we had to ask for his sugar levels to be checked, Lo and behold they were in the 300s. I mean seriously? Never again!

Last night was literally the worst experience of my life at that hospital. The ER has always been one of their worst places but last night topped the cake. I think believed remodeling the front would make it appealing. They need to remodel the staff and train them on the meaning of hospitality. You get there and the staff at the front desk are so nice and helpful, but then you get into triage and it’s a nightmare. The nurse “Debbie” was rude and aggressive. She kept yelling to patients there was only one doctor which isn’t something you should EVER say to any patient. After waiting for 2 1/2 hours someone comes to take my blood and several people come by to ask the same question 50 times with no communication to one another. Another two hour wait to be moved into general population (Acute 1/2) where not only did Debbie leave me in the middle of the walkway and everyone kept moving me or bumping me with the stretchers, but the nurse Abagail who was supposed to attend to me never came. Not even to say hi, introduce herself or anything. We were left sitting there for another 3 hours until someone decided to come, not even say hi, but try to pass me a cup to urinate in. By that time I just signed myself out and took my chances on my own. To be made to feel like I didn’t matter, that I wasn’t a sick patient in need of help was disappointing, unacceptable, and utterly disgusting. Making the building look more appealing means nothing if the staff is still horrible. This needs to be addressed ASAP!

I've been reading some of these comments and I am completely at odds with almost all of the negative ones. I went to the E.R. for a second time after I had a Anterior Cervical Fusion from c4-c7 at a hospital in upstate N.Y. I dealt with numerous e.r. doc's who were all fantastic. I was very impressed with their genuine feeling care for my surgery aftercare. They went above and beyond regarding my situation. O say all the necessary specialists I needed to see and was given an appointment with a phenomenal Neurosurgeon who I saw monthly or bi- weekly for quite some time. She was great unlike one of her young male colleagues. First time I went, with my medical back round I knew the chances of me going home that night were slim to none and I had also saw a P.A. earlier that day at a different place. I went in around 3 or 4 p.m. and didn't leave for a few days. I needed an appendectomy. Luckily my sister (with whom I was temporarily staying with) lived somewhat close by 1st and 120th. It took a little time to get a room, but I had a bad which was fine with me because at the time I smoked and could sneak out and smoke until taken up stairs. I got a laparoscopic appendectomy; three tiny incisions, one barely visible and everything went great including the friendly staff all round. I don't agree with these negative reviews as hospitals can be busy and overwhelmed. Just don't go to a hospital outside of the U.S. unless it's an award winning one. Would go back in a second to Mt. Sinai.

The office lacks compassion and understanding. Unfortunately hospital systems have become a corporation and treating patients with severe disease is not a priority. We have spent hours in waiting rooms waiting our turn with an understanding that physicians run behind. We had an appointment at 3:30 and running 10 minutes behind because of an accident. We explained and made a courtesy call to to inform office we are 10 minutes behind. Office calls us at 3:32 tells us we need to reschedule - we explained we drove 1.5 hours to see this physician and we would be happy to wait. Still refused. And they asked us to call back to reschedule didn’t even have the courtesy to reschedule at the moment. Having an older patient with severe Alzheimers having to drive back 1.5 hours home shows the lack of compassion that has become the corporations that are hidden in a hospital guise. Disappointing. We will find an outpatient physician to take care of us now where one feels they are cared for, especially after giving doctors the same courtesy of waiting over an hour for our turn. Yet they couldn’t give us 10 min. Nothing but a number here ( and a billing code). Find a place where you are treated with compassion and kindness. Pls note the reviews on all the paid websites for these doctors can’t be updates. FYI. the honest google review don’t reflect on Sinai’s actual website. Looks like they manipulate the data to show better feedback only.

This hospital was the best hospital I've ever been too! I had a abscess under my breast that Beth isreal on first avenue refused to treat. An abscess is very painful and I feel alot of people get them in areas that are hard for us to drain ourselves and it can get infected if not treated by a surgeon. That being said Beth isreal on 1st Avenue never has staff equipped for this situation. After i was disrespected at Beth isreal by Doctor Caroline Rago who said "its not like she's going to die". Mind you im two months postpartum with breast full of milk and a huge abscess under my breast that prevented me from breastfeeding. Yet "I wasn't going to die". I was transferred to Mount Sinai and the treatment I received here was amazing. First of all they gave me a medical grade pump so i can release all the milk i had stored and finally felt some relief. Then ultrasounds just to make sure it wasn't an underlying issue. Then the general surgeon came and inserted a syringe to numb it then drained the abscess. He was incredible. I really feel this hospital cared about me and thats how everyone should feel at a hospital. This is an amazing hospital and I definitely recommend it. Also they told me they only drain a abscess after 11pm. Before that time they do refer you to another clinic that handles this type of service. Just a heads up so everyone is aware. Thank you for reading my post. Have a good day!

I recently underwent a cardiac procedure at Mount Sinai, and had the best quality care I have received in any hospital (US and abroad). Everyone, beginning from the extremely competent specialists such as Drs. Itagaki and Robbins, to the front desk personnel, nurses, nurse practitioners, etc. provided the highest quality service. The hospital itself is top-notch, but what makes this hospital even more special are the hard-working and highly competent personnel that truly went above and beyond in ensuring that I received the highest quality care. Everyone was extremely friendly and went above and beyond in ensuring that I received timely, high quality care in every step of the process. While my open heart surgery itself was tough, the positive attitude, friendliness, high quality care, the expertise of the treating doctors and attention to every small detail made all the difference in my recovery journey. The outstanding care, however, didn't stop once I was discharged from the hospital. I had several follow-up calls from Dr. Itagaki's office to ensure that I am doing well and recovering. I can't speak highly enough of Dr. Robbins, who timely addressed any concerns I had post discharge via the MyMount Sinai App. Overall, I would very highly recommend the Mount Sinai Cardiology center to anyone that requires services in that field.

Speaking from my outpatient experience, their departments are working against each other; full of misinformation; and I feel like patients are just outlet for some of the staffs. I went to ER on Saturday and was scheduled an ultrasound at radiology department. Not able to do it because their ultrasound technician was having a family emergency and no one could fill in. It was 1pm. It’s already unfathomable to me. But then no one from radiology department care to even make a call to inform ER so I wasted 3 hrs in ER till they figured out what had happened and told me I need to come back next Monday. But when I came back Monday prior to the appointment time, they again said they won’t do it because ER discharged me Saturday and since that was over 24 hrs ago the referral from ER has expired. What a dumb rule! Why the heck was I scheduled for Monday then? And plus I was explicitly instructed by ER that I should come in Monday but not Sunday(which would have been ok according to Radiology). One lady at Radiology Department even said this: ‘I’m not losing my job over this’. Like, this whole thing is, I donno who, but def hospital’s fault. Is this not enough of a case to make to your supervisor for an exception? Ma’am if all you care is holding on to your job and nothing for a patient in pain, maybe you shouldn’t work in healthcare.

This hospital has a few good people but a large number that just there to get a check. If they don't understand you they will label you as a problem and print it on your file so that other employees won't bother them self with you. Shame on this hospital. The more I tried to get help I noticed that they all read something and dismissed me without any more help, but they claim they have programs to help. They also have tricks like letting there phone messages full so they can say they didn't get your call. I have been coming to this hospital since 1993 I've been here longer than the rude young disrespectful workers with attitude, so why ain't I respected or valued. I know why as long mt.sanai gets the money from my insurance I don't matter right! A lot of the complaints on here sounds the same don't you see that. Get rid of those people that don't know how to work in a hospital. Your emergency room looks like a airport security station. If you would be treating people right no one would be as angry as they get with you. You should be very embarrassed how other hospitals e.r. have good people who how to treat sick people right and have no problems with anyone. That's why they don't need metal detectors to screen sick people who are there for help and not a threat. You owe us a big apology but I won't hold my breath.

Under the most difficult conditions, I see the ER staff at Mt. Sinai at East 98th, as dedicated soldiers on the front line. In spite of the overwhelming amount of patients and limited beds and rooms for admitted patients, and the impatient patients and the stress that comes with the job, they utilize every possible means to accommodate all who enter for care. I sat for hours and observed, the constant inflow of patients, and how they were efficiently managed and treated; and had to conclude that this ER operated like a well oiled, and well maintained machine. Although there were patients who were indeed complaining, those complaints were primarily related to the long wait for beds/rooms. However, I bet those complainers also recognized how admirable all the ER staff executed their duties. This would include the supervising doctor, the nurses, all the supporting staff, and departments, and the custodial staff. Each worked like that preverbal cog in the wheel that made is move efficiently. Therefore, I must take this opportunity to say how much I appreciate them all for their exceptional dedication to an awesomely difficult job. Finally, I also wish to thank Dr. R. Sharma and his excellent group for giving me excellent and exceptional care.

The surgical ICU is empty on the weekends, its obvious the hospital functions at the convenience of the staff and not the patients, the hospital is understaffed, incompetent and completely disorganized, critically ill patients do not get adequate attention. The ICU is full of interns and young adults who are more than ready to learn on critically ill patients (you don't need to pay them much). And if you thought the ICU was bad, wait till they put you into a step down, a small room divided into 4 walk-in type closet spaces with beds where the nurses cant even maneuver around to properly clean and administer medication. The social workers don't really do anything when needed and rush critically ill patients into rehabs because of insurance-hospital collusion. The Surgical team will not follow up with critical patients who were sent to rehabs with open wounds. There is no honor/courtesy only money. The entire medical/insurance industry is corrupt, (BTW hospital prices are set by insurance companies that collude with the hospital in order to make it impossible not to have insurance). Do yourself a favor and at-least go to the lesser evil Presbyterian Cornel-Columbia when you need emergency assistance.

I have received excellent medical care at Mount Sinai, but their billing department is a nightmare. I am repeatedly charged for services 100% covered by insurance, but the hospital is trying to squeeze more money out of people. An example is a recent routine colonoscopy that was 100% covered by insurance, and the doctor I saw agreed. I got a HUGE bill! When I complained, the bill was "corrected," but guess what, the amount nearly doubled, and now I have to go back and forth with the hospital and insurance to fix it. Guess what, Mount Sinai! Just like mammograms, routine colonoscopies are covered by insurance BY FEDERAL LAW!!! Now I am facing more billing drama. I had an at-home sleep study. I was told in writing before I took the study my out-of-pocket cost would be less than $400. Today I got a bill for 3X that amount. After spending 30 minutes calling and emailing, I was told I was being charged a facility fee -- I did not spend the night in the hospital! This was an at-home study! So now I have to call bazillion people to get this bill corrected! The stress from being overbilled is making me sick. I never want to see a doctor associated with this place again. It's not worth the hassle!

My sincere gratitude and thanks for Mount Sinai Hospital the excellent care you provided to my father during his recent heart surgery. Your hard work, dedication, and expertise have given our family peace of mind during a very stressful time. From the moment we arrived at the hospital, we were greeted by friendly and compassionate staff who made us feel welcomed and comfortable. Your team of doctors, nurses, and support staff went above and beyond to ensure that my father received the best possible care before, during, and after his surgery. Your attention to detail, professionalism, and kindness did not go unnoticed, and we are forever grateful for everything you have done. My father's successful surgery and speedy recovery would not have been possible without your skill and expertise. Your commitment to excellence and patient care is truly remarkable, and we feel blessed to have had the opportunity to receive treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital. I extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you for your outstanding service and care. Your dedication to your profession and your patients is truly commendable, and we are forever grateful for your kindness and support.

If I could give this a zero, I would. My daughter/son were born in a hospital that is affiliated with this hospital. I was overly charged for "special services" from Mount Sinai Hospital of both my children's births. I reached out to them to resolve the two balances, and they told me not to make a payment until they resolve the issue and get back to me. After 2 months, I received a collection letter for one of the balances. I immediately called them and tried to resolve the issue, but they said that I have to pay the collection letter because they have no way of stopping that collection; and so I did. I had another balance due for my second child's birth and I paid the full amount because I did not want to receive another collection from them. They said they will reimburse me the money. My first born is now more than 3 years old, and I am still fighting with them to get a reimbursement of that money. Do not use this hospital, it only cares about making money, but when they owe money, they just say "these things take time". By the way, I have a complete log of the calls and the agents/managers I've spoke to, and it is absurd that I get the same answer from all of them.

Mount sinai, unethical, unprofessional, unsympathetic, irresponsible, incompetent, corrupt, inept, and unfit to be put in a room with any patient. My 26yo cousins was taken to mount sinai to get treatment for a very high fever and respiratory problems. After being there for less than A DAY, his situation had gotten so much worse, and so many medications were given to him in hopes of HOPEFULLY treating him. The nurses a highly unethical, unsympathetic, and uneducated. They don’t know the difference between a hot and a cold compress. My cousin had later on developed pneumonia and oxygen decrease to 70 due to the incompetence of the medical “professionals”. I regret to inform that my 26yo healthy cousins with no prior medical records or admissions has now developed permanent brain damage and is currently in a partial state of coma. AND what pisses me off more is that the “doctors” don’t have a single diagnoses. All the different doctors that come in to his room, pull stuff out of their behinds and utter absolute rubbish. If your loved one is in a situation like this. Please i beg you don’t bring them here. Any hospital is bette then Mount. sinai! H.G

I’m 67 years old, I Live and die by Mount Siani. Had my two sons there 47 years ago. Won’t go anywhere else! Today I needed the emergency room. It was the worst experience I ever had at Mount Sinai. Why do they introduce u to your nurse,, only to never see her again. Been here since 8:am, it is now 1:30am.. I had to catch a patient Representative to get a bed pan, both of them are still beside my bed. Please stop hiring these nasty black Caribbeans to work in a position that’s not suited for them. There’s one here now ranting and raving in her nasty dialect. I had to advocate for two seniors, who was totally being ignored. I was told by a young staff, I was minding someone else’s business. I wanted to report her, but that’s not my style. Been advocating all my life. I’m a retired Social Worker from Bronxcare. After about 5 hours I asked hey do y’all feed people around here? I was hollered at by a resident when I was seeking help. I always Bragg about Mount Siani, not anymore. I have to tell u that Rebecca the registered nurse was the best! Very caring and compassionate. Takes her job seriously and runs a tight ship. The best!

While introducing our kids to NYC on an extended weekend trip, my teen son suffered a perforated appendix that required an emergency appendectomy. While we were initially lost for 30 mins trying to find where to go (an angel at the security desk finally took pity on us and walked with us to where we needs to be) and we were in the peds ED 2 hours longer than necessary due to the medical resident forgetting to advise us not to let our son sip any fluids (the resident felt bad and was apologetic), the overall care my son received was top notch. Everyone there is clearly committed to the well-being of the kids, and it shows. They took care of my son, and were so understanding of our family’s situation. Ruthie in Child Life was a godsend, Dr. Koakley, Nina and the surgical team were superior, and Kim, Pam and Michelle on the 5th floor peds were responsive, very competent and kind. A special thank you to Darlene at the security desk for her kindness in helping guide us to where we were supposed to go when we arrived worried and uncertain. I would not hesitate to recommend Mount Sinai for care. It was so comforting to be there.

Worse hospital ever if you are in the ER waiting for a room to be admitted! Received a phone call from my moms Mt. Sinai primary doctor that my mom needed to go to the ER due to her lab work results. We arrived at 4 pm and it is now 13 hours later and still no room available. If you have no rooms available then why do you tell your patients to go to the ER? This is totally unacceptable. I thought the last time I was in the ER back in August it was just a busy time and that's why it took over 24 hrs to get a room. However it seems that this is a pattern with this hospital to wait in the ER for days before getting a room when you need to be admitted. Had I known this was going to happen again I would have never came here and instead gone to Lenox Hill Hospital even though its a little further away. Never had any issues getting a room at Lenox. I will definitely not be returning to this hospitals ER ever again. And then they pack you in like a herd of cattle in the ER with patients almost on top of each other. This use to be a good hospital but obviously it has gone down hill. Never again Mt. Sinai! )-:

It is one of the best hospitals in the USA from my experience with the doctors and the treatment I receive but only problem it has is; nurses! Once you leave the hospital sometimes nurses will call you for some reason but never leave a message or extension number to call back, in case you want to call back it goes into a cloud system to thousands of people who you want to talk to? Because you receive a call from a hospital general number and nurse did not leave any message and you see few different doctors you will never be able to talk to anybody! There should be mandatory system that when nurses or anybody call from the hospital to a patient they must leave a call back extension number and the person name or the department name to call back! This is the only lack of system they have!!! They should consider updating their call back policy! Nurses must leave a extension number on patients phone so when a patient want to call back they reach the exact person instead of a cloud system!! I hope they will see my review and implement my suggestions for better services. Thank you

MOUNT SINAI HOSPITAL LOST ITS WAY!!! In 2008, my father was treated at this hospital and it was an excellent experience. From the security guards to the chief surgeon. I had returned with my hubby for canc3r surgery, I am just shocked and disgusted. The admin personnel couldn’t get their story together to let me know the time when his surgery was taking place. The amount of garbage and the smell is appalling. The nurse and admin staff is rude and unprofessional!!!! They do need training on how to properly treat a patient. In order to receive pain medication ( A PATIENT WHOSE PROSTATE WAS JUST SURGICALLY REMOVED) needed to wait two hours!!! because the nurse needed to properly assess his pain level. The hallways are crowded with empty boxes and other peripheral that patients can’t take a walks as mandated by doctors. The Board of Directors need to reevaluate how management is handling this place. Please read the reviews listed here! All these reviews reflect the level of inefficiency at MSH. It is a HORRIBLE HOSPITAL.

If I could give this hospital less than one star I would. I went into ER with the stomach flu, severely dehydrated and non-stop vomiting in 07/2022. Asked to have an IV, which felt necessary so the nausea could stop. It was not a crowded day, as it was in the middle of the week in the afternoon. After 3 hours of sitting and waiting in the hospital room, I was poked and prodded by multiple staff members in an attempt to find a vein... After 5 hours I was eventually able to get an IV in and was left with a $4.4K bill for this terrible care. They added a bunch of unnecessary tests to rake in more $. Shouldn't take 5 hours and cost $4k for an IV. In the letter back to me, they admitted the staff was negligent but simply put that they will "relay that to their staff and work on improving their quality of care". I'm so disappointed by my experience; in what was a very vulnerable moment and lack of empathy, urgency, and just basic care from hospital staff. I would never recommend this spot to anyone I care about.

I brought my elderly parent in to the local Mt Sinai Emergency Room last week and had a very positive experience. I am very grateful for the care she was given by everyone on the Staff, despite an incredibly busy ER. Mt. Sinai was well organized, clean and much more efficient than I would have expected. Everyone was kind - from the ambulance drivers to the nurse at the intake desk to the nurses, doctor and CAT/X-ray techs who cared for my Mother (she was there over the course of two shifts). I want to especially call out an evening shift nurse named Camille and Dr. MacDonald, who both cared for my Mother and helped discharge her. A shoutout to the very kind and gentle CAT and Xray technicians who dealt with my Mother's dementia and physical pain. I also noticed how well everyone cared for other patients and interacted with other caregivers, despite some very challenging patients and obviously difficult health conditions that night. Thank you.

The Mount Sinai Hospital used to be a place where I felt I could rely on top notch care. However, a lot seems to have changed since 2017. Most recently besides being given incorrect information about my insurance they just couldn't get my endoscopy appointment right. They changed the date on me without notice, then when a new date was finally scheduled they neglected to tell me I had to be 20 days out from a COVID test (more there but this is a public review and no one needs to know more about my medical info) just two hours before my procedure. Though I prepped (not eating for 8 hour prior, taking an at home COVID test per their multiple messages) I was later told I didn't have to do that. As you can see they are a mess. There seems to be very little accountability in the Division of Gastroenterology when it comes to scheduling and informing patients of procedures. This gives me very little faith in being able to get care in that department.

  • Thania Pena

Very disappointed in the treatment from the pulmonary department. My baby had an appointment which yes we arrived late but I called them to make sure we can still be seen and the person I spoke to said it was okay and that she would let the doctor know, after taking down a bunch of information that is. We get there and I ask for an oxygen tank for my baby and when the receptionist went to so called get me a tank she came back empty handed and told me I needed to reschedule. She said they never received my message that we were getting there late. It took me almost 2 hours to get to this appointment. My babies portable oxygen tank was nearly empty and they didn’t even care to ask if she needed a tank to go back home with. Part of your job as a health professional is to actually care about your patients. This is a 5 month old baby we’re speaking of. I understand there are grace periods but the lack of communication and empathy is not okay.

  • Pizza Cake

Do not go here unless you want to die. Doctors DO NOT respond or update patients, the 15 minutes they speak with you are the same 15 minutes they look at your file/test results for, they do not work as a team and consult with one another allowing for mistakes in treatment due to no brainer mistakes. PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS WARNING THE PRACTICES BEING DONE HERE ARE BORDERLINE MALPRACTICE. DO NOT BRING A LOVED ONE HERE. The best part is they'll complain they're understaffed. ITS NOT OUR JOB TO RUN YOUR HOSPITAL. Hire more people or take less patients you twits. Watch how they're going to comment below a copy and paste link and survey for me to fill out a survey to make me feel heard as if they're going to improve anything, they'll likely disregard all the data like they do test results. I do response on google reviews for a living for many brand name companies to boost google Ratings. TRUST ME DO NOT COME HERE FOR CANCER TREATMENT.

  • Christopher Wofford

Good medical care combined with bad admin/infrastructure makes for a bad experience overall. I was a happy post-surgical patient -- UNTIL exposed to Mt. Sinai's BILLING CHAOS. Despite encouraging patients to use the MyChart portal, the billing function on the website IS 100% INACCURATE. Why, you may ask? Further exploration (over 45 minutes of my time) revealed that the billing function at Mt. Sinai is decentralized and the hospital bills you separately from your doctor(s) -- and that information is NOT captured in their portal. So, you can go to the portal, owe ZERO and be simultaneously sent to a collection agency!!! Attempts 1 through 4 at elevating this to the head of IT at the hospital resulted in 2 hang-ups, 1 "there's no one I can direct you to take this up with" and 1 email address -- so that I can spend more time trying to fix this insanity. Customer experience matters. Please help your patients to be your fans.

This place don’t care about patients the same way they don’t care about employees. The facilities are in desperate need of updating throughout minus some random departments that is known cash cows for hospitals such as the emergency room. As a relative of a few employees here and a one time patient I wouldn’t go here ever again. The facility just isn’t equipped to handle the load they get. The icing on the cake is hearing stories of how the president stole $1500 out of $2500 from unionized mount Sinai employees during the start of the pandemic in 2020 and told them take what he give them or get zero dollars…government money meant for front line workers from the state and he pocketed it! People died, got sick, and worked with no PPE all while he hid on his super yatch in Florida but have the audacity to steal. Nice. I’d never step foot in there again after hearing that. I’m disappointed.

This hospital is the most unsympathetic, most uncaring hospital. My 26 year old cousin who has had no history of diseases and medical conditions came to this hospital twice before he got severely worse they told him he was fine both times. After that his condition got way worse and he was hospitalized in the same hospital days later. He was sitting in that hospital rotting for weeks and weeks. They had no clue what was wrong with him so they just started giving him random medicines to hopefully solve the issue. Which worsened his condition (ironic). Hense his condition got even worse resulting in him losing his memory and going into coma . His brain was shutting down due to their lack of efforts and sympathy to try to solve the problem. He was in so much pain that he couldn’t even communicate to us. They’re were no doctors to attend to him which was ironic. Please do Better! Shahwaiz

My 1week follow up Telehealth appointment for tooth extraction and bone graft was at 9:00am. No one had called and while I tried to contact the department but there is no way to talk to anyone from that office. Just operators that they are not at the location and all they can do is transfer me to the department that no one picks up the phone only option is to transfer back to operator. So I couldn’t even cancel appointment nor reschedule. After waiting and trying to get in touch for over 3h I did file a complain. Then I had a call from the office. It is extremely difficult to get in touch with oral surgery department at Annenberg building. It makes me worry for when I will have more procedures. It’s too bad I chose to be treated here as my family member received the same procedure several years ago. We had no problem communicating with them. It’s definitely not the same anymore.

  • Montanna Castro

This Emergency room is very unprofessional. I arrived with a sick baby at 8am and was not placed in a room until 9pm which was on the 5th floor and then at 11pm was told the room would be changed to the fourth floor and I would have to wait for “transport” again. I don’t see the logic in admitting my child into the hospital if hours were going to be spent solely on transport. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. I also experienced a very unprofessional nurse who didn’t provide indirect care, such as speaking to me and my baby, or even verbalizing what she entered the room to do. This nurse also did not introduce herself and after taking blood pressure didn’t even have the decency to relay an update to me or my spouse. The lack of professionalism was disgusting. The most care that my child received was pedialyte and a treatment in the emergency department.

Please avoid the whole of Mount Sinai everywhere in NYC unless you have an emergency and there is no other hospital close by. Their billing is so bad, that they themselves do not know why they keep sending different bills with either missing account number or entirely new account numbers that you cannot login to any payment portals that the stupid operation team has set up. There is absolutely no indication of why they are charging, for what date they are charging, and is it for a bill I already paid or something entirely new. Truely, I have been to coffee shops with a better billing operation than this multi-million-dollar corporation. P.S. the doctors are great, but the hospital operations has really got to start looking at a better solution that at least work. One should not be compelled to call every time Mount Sinai sends a bill out of thin air.

My post keep getting deleted…. My mom passed away in this horrible hospital!!! She was treated with disrespect and neglect!!! I personally think she never had cancer and was treated like some lab experiment as they tried every chemotherapy treatment on her until she no longer couldn’t walk, talk or breathe etc!!! Racial discrimination and disparity is real when it comes to black woman getting treatment in the medical field. The truth will come out someday and to top it off I had to view my mom in a white bag as they had her laying in hospice…. I was told I couldn’t stay there at her last days to come back to her dead!!! My mom was the healthiest person I knew and when she step in this hospital that’s when she died !!! May god have mercy on y’all because I lost my mom heart because y’all was money hungry and evil !!!

This hospital is a bad experience. It’s not long to see someone but Ive now gone to the ER two times and I still have not isolated the reason for my issues. Over the phone the people seem very flustered and their phone systems don’t work correctly as you have to numerously punch in the coding to speak to the department until they pick up and or when the ER does pick up they claim they can’t hear you. I’ve had doctors contradict whats others have said and they don’t communicate amongst each other. I’ve had one doctor give me advice and I could easily tell he was uninformed with all my prior information during the visit. I know everybody’s trying to deal & keep up but an experience is an experience and this one was mine. Unfortunately I have no choice but to get dressed and head right back.

A medical assistant contacted my office today regarding a patient that’s a prospective student at my organization. Not only was the medical assistant rude and highly unprofessional, she attempted to argue with me regarding my agency’s policies in terms of required OCFS medical forms. She complained about completing the forms as if it were extra work for her when that is what she is being paid to do. I explained that the medical forms are mandated in order for the child to attend school and that although she may have dealt with this organization, that NYC and LI have different regulations. That is not to be argued. Her responsibility is to the patient as is mine to the student. She was very rambunctious and inept and just a poor example of what quality customer service should reflect.

I delivered my twins here. The epidural was the most painful experience of my life, after my delivery I spent a full 23 hours in the recovery room before I was moved to a postpartum room because they didn’t have enough nurses to care for me there I wasnt even offered a clean gown or a pump until I was moved. At my discharge I didn’t receive any of the paperwork I should have for postpartum care and newborn care. I was readmitted for preeclampsia and was left in an observation bed for hours without being checked on, and no way to call a nurse. My baby in the nicu developed a blocked tear duct that looked very close to becoming infected that the nurse didn’t have a pediatrician look at until I pushed for it, and she was somehow not diagnosed with torticollis while in their care.

Another negative review about the awful security at this hospital. We walked in after waiting over an hour in Central Park after an incident and were unable to be located so we took a pedicab to the ER. My boyfriend was unable to walk from a torn ACL and I asked security for assistance with a wheelchair (I’m not strong enough to carry him in alone) the security officer refused to help us into the hospital, I had my scooter and asked if I could put it in the hallway while I brought him in (since I had no help) he scoffed at me and asked me “how long I was gonna be”. We’re in the middle of a medical emergency and they were so disrespectful. In addition, there were no crutches, the computers were down, and you could tell the entire staff was exhausted and overworked.

This hospital kills people they take people like a guine pig to experiment. My brother is in that hospital giving him medication they ain’t suppose too they even gave him a overdose. Nurse are very rude to him and doctors there don’t know how they become doctors. My brothers name Humberto Quinones he is there now I call the hospital to talk to the doctor and no call yet. My brother call me saying they are killing him there and he is in pain. Visiting hour are over but I promise you I’m heading there in the morning and I will sue that hospital. Update my brother pass away this hospital kill him. Gave him wrong medication that put him in coma. And there excuse liver problem would never recommend this hospital to no one. Doctors nurses don’t know what they doing

I have been waiting for 2 weeks and a half for my doctor to call me about my lab results and every time I call the rep tells me she will Contact me with 24 hrs. It has been literally going on a week since they have told me this and I have a thyroid issue that needs to be addressed. The rep offered an appt. for tomorrow but refused to call the medical transportation for me since I can not book a ride myself because one can only do so if it after 3 days, not the next other wise the hospital is the one who can make that happen but again they refused. Now I am dealing with pain, unbearable heat throughout my body, can barely eat and my eyes burn and do you think they care when I told them? NO. But I bet if I had a bill to pay they would be quick to call me.

  • Carly Koblick

This hospital has Terrible care & inconsistent support when trying to advocate for a loved one who is extremely ill and not getting the proper care on a day to day basis. There is no response when emailing or trying to reach out to make a difference. People on their phones all day at the desk that completely ignore patients and their families… which is not a good example of what it is to be as a healthcare professional. And majority are rude. It’s honestly embarrassing to be listed as one of the top hospitals in the country. Update 11.29- no one ever reached out from this review. Not one returned phone call or email. Not even one courtesy response. Nothing. Absolutely disgusting. You get faster responses from food and retail industries.

Terrible hospital I hurt my knee very bad at work. Came in a ambulance the EMT officer told me this hospital’s emergency room is the pits of hell her words! Boy she was right as I’m coming in with a leg injury they put me in a wheelchair to transport me through the hospital to the department I needed to be treated at. The lady who transferred me in my wheelchair was named maribel Peña well ms Peña was wheeling the wheelchair all crooked and hit a security guard with my bad leg so I then take out my phone and proceed to video record. Good thing I did because she literally crashed into a wall with my bad leg. Which I now know i have a torn ligament thanks to metropolitan hospital. They’ll be hearing from my lawyers in 24 hours

Really bad response time! Either from doctors or nurses. My wife needs assistance to go to the bathroom from 4:30 an, she keeps pressing buttons but no one shows up till 9 am. I was keep requesting to the security at the lobby to send nurse to her room or allow me to go to her room to help her out. They make a phone call and simply ignored my request and they try to kick me out of the lobby! After visiting hr opened at 9 am, I came to her room and requested to see the doctor (many times )since she is having unbearable pain ! Dr did not show up at the time I’m waiting this review. FYI - I call 311 as well to get some help. unfortunately I’m still waiting 08/12/2023 12:48 pm Do I need to call 911 from hospital bed?

  • amanda jones

Surgery recovery room on the 3rd floor has this Phillipino nurse called Michael, goes by Mikki. Very very rude, visibily angry, and does not give the care and attention to patient. Instead of doing his job as a nurse for what he gets paid for, goes around throwing attitude, zero professionalism, gossips, and monitors where the family is going. When He should be MONITORING the patient, calling family members when the patient is calling for them. The surgery department of Mt Sinai needs compassionate NURSES. MUCHAEL OR MIKKI, if u are readung this, don't such be a blood sucking lazy bum, without the patients you don't get paid. Look for another job if u can't provide the care for critical patients.

  • Mammad Mahmoodi

They used to be great. But never recovered from Covid debacle! Their depts are ALLOVERTHEPLACE. had a pre-op appointment which theu moved a few times. On the day when my appt is at 4 pm, they call to say we have to get there at 2:30 as they decided to close at 4 pm! We cancel work and get off and run to get there on time then to wait for 3 hours in waiting area! I am still here and still waiting! The receptionist have such a hige attitude too. It was never the case. Totally down the hill. P.S: over 4 hours waiting. A nurse told me to please write a complaint as they are overworking ghem and booking 10 people at the same time with no one to see them. What a scam mount sinai has become!

My dads hospital stay here has been nothing but terrible. We have expressed multiple times we need the ENT team to come in and visit him and to answer our questions since he recently got a procedure. Countless times we have been told that they will be coming in today. Today turns into tomorrow and it’s now been a full week since we have last seen them. Im sick of being lied too. I took it upon myself to call the patient service number to complain, which helped us the first time in which ENT came in last Friday, however since then they have not been seen. As someone who knows how hospitals are suppose to work and operate, save your time and go somewhere else.

  • R Lo

This is actually a long overdue review. My sister, Ms. Jenkins has been a patient at this location (1468 Madison Ave) for a number of years. She has undergone several procedures and/or treatments and has always received the best care needed and continues to need. I cannot say enough great things about the Doctors, Nurses and Social Workers (particularly Ms. Shea). Their professionalism and compassion, especially during these trying times is exceptional and I feel that they set the example for all others in this field to follow. Thank you again for doing your very best to care for my sister and keep her as comfortable as possible. Regards, Ms. Lopez

  • Ignacio Tamblay

I went to this hospital to make a PCR test (COVID-19 test) because I was told that it was free, guard on the door told me that it was free and doctors and people inside told me that too. Truth? appears that it wasn't free, till this day I keep receiving bills in my house charging me exuberant amounts of money for a test that I was told that it was free and yeah, I feel myself cheated. This is very sad tho, because the people inside were very charm and helpful and I trusted on them when they assure me that the test was no cost, but here I am, receiving and receiving bills for big quantities of money... Definitely not coming back to this hospital

  • haleysnd

Called their comprehensive assessment center in regards to their CITPD treatment program and was baffled by how rude the woman on the phone was. You would think people working in health, further than that, mental health, would care about their jobs at least a bit. She was talking over me and asking me to let her speak over and over again when I was just trying to explain my current providers. They clearly don’t put care into who they hire and that will bleed over into their business in the worst ways. As someone who works in healthcare and has previously worked in recruiting, the way the woman spoke to me is completely unacceptable.

  • Alisik S

AVOID at all costs if you have a serious health issue. The doctors, nursing staff and most of all the administrative staff lack in empathy and do not practice their oath to care for the patient. A member of my family is being discharged to another facility WITHOUT a consent from the family. This person cannot talk and advocate for himself and the family has been fighting with the hospital for weeks. The person's condition is severe and moving him is a big risk. The facility's primary concern is not the patients' care, but the bottom line. It is a difficult patient with serious health condition and they are throwing up their hands.

  • Ashlyn Jackson

The staff are extremely rude and super slow. Everytime ive gone here with the exception of twice it was a terrible experience. The staff are low quality and most of them are extremely rude and disrespectful. Also wanna add this is a teaching hospital so when i say a lot of the staff isnt qualified to be handling patients i really mean that. And mt. Sinai plz dont comment on my post and act like yall care cuz i tried to resolve multiple issues with u guys and nothing was ever handled correctly. Like i said this is low quality hospital and the staff cant/wont/dont do their jobs correctly. Honestly this place shouldnt even be open.

  • GURPREET HUNDAL

The doctors are great but the administration needs a lot of work. My husband had surgery and no one could reach the doctor to tell me how he was doing. The next day security guard and the screening crew tried to turn to send me back to each other. I told him I already know where I need to go. Just screen me and move on. The information given by reception is conflicting. They told me I couldn't see my husband coz he is in the bathroom. I told them he is on the phone with me and not in the bathroom. Basically, they will say anything to get you off their hand. The ordeal is still going. Awaiting the next surprise.

My 89 year old aunt has been in the emergency room since Friday and hasn’t been given a room to date Monday 10/9/23. My uncle has pleaded with various doctors, staff members to put my aunt in a room and nobody has done anything to help. How does a hospital treat an elderly woman, a citizen of United States of America with so much disrespect! My aunt needs to stay on oxygen and needs rest and spending 4 night in the emergency is killing her! I am discussed and going to get the media on the situation. No hospital should treat our senior citizens with so much disrespect, it’s disgusting and not acceptable!

  • Maxim Acosta

After New York - Presbyterian, this Mount Sinai is the worst emergency room I have ever been two. They denied me my right to receive adequate medical treatment and allowed the guy who has me hacked, to infiltrate my room and try to mock me. They also have no food or HIV tests. What type of hospital are they? No HIV tests in a NYC Hospital? UNHEARD OF!!!! We must really be living on a different planet. After three hours of being ignored by medical staff at @Mount Sinai and ridiculed by my hacker, I left without getting the critical medical treatment I urgently needed. Why can I not give it 0 stars?

  • Jennifer Morton

Got to my appointment with Dr. Alexandra Kreps on time, checked in and gave my insurance, then waited. After 30 minutes they came and told me that it took “a long time” for my insurance to process and that now the doctor couldn’t see me because her next appointment was here and she was leaving after, so I would have to reschedule. I asked if another doctor could see me since i had already come all the way out there, so they said sure and went back to check. After another 25 minutes came back and told me there was no other doctor that could see me. Huge waste of time and extremely unhelpful staff.

  • Vishrut Khatri

Had to get admitted because I had dengue and an extremely low platelet count (27K to be exact). a doctor named Dr Chavez suggested “I looked too okay for someone with dengue.” Realized after being there for 24 hours that she had no clue what she was doing and i left. and how could she? She came to look at me once on the start, ordered blood tests and disappeared. Four days later my dengue test comes back positive and that too i had to get the test done elsewhere as she refused to do that test on me or even if she did test it for me, been more than 10 days and i have not yet received the result.

  • Christina Pelissier

I was sent to the ER at Mount Sinai for seizures. The nurses and Drs said I wasn’t have seizures and that it was a psych issue. They did no testing to check to see the seizure. They wanted to do a C-T scan without contrast. I work in heath care, a C-T without contrast shows nothing unless you have been in a car accident. I live in New Jersey and drove 2 hours to come here. The nurses and doctors had no bedside matter. As a healthcare worker I would NEVER treat a patient how they treated me. I pray God protects all the current patients that are there in that hospital, to protect there life’s.

  • J. Taurez

Nurses are wonderful but COVID changed how some of them give care. The assistants are deserving of praise as well, it’s a hard job and people call out for weather or COVID etc. Just a reminder that human beings are being treated at these facilities, when you skip steps in your training because you want to rush through; you compromise yourself, the patient and the facility! When assistants are on their phones (talking) in the room with patients trying to get rest at 2am and everyone is being loud it doesn’t help anyone recover! Please remember we are all here together dealing with life! ✌

  • Daniel D'Agostino

You guys need to take down your parking reservation website if it doesn't actually work. It has no links to actually reserve parking. The website also indicates that valet parking is available. I called an employee and the person on the phone told me the website "wasn't working" and that there was no option for online reservations. There is also no valet parking available, contrary to the information presented online. For an expecting parent this is pretty annoying as we are trying to eliminate uncertainty regarding the delivery of our baby. This really adds to our stress.

My wife had surgery scheduled for 8 AM this morning arrived at 6 AM at Mount Sinai in Manhattan, they didn’t start surgery until 10 AM, it is now 830pm at night and she still does not have a room. The surgery scheduled required a minimum of two nights. How do they not have a room for a scheduled surgery requiring two nights stay? They also tried to sell me a private room when we checked in I would hate to think that private room is sitting empty while my wife is in recovery for seven hours. Terrible Managment No Excuse. I think she has been through enough!

  • Hernan Fajardo

Horrible experience and absolutely rude nurses, and staff. Room was equipped with an #AvaSys #Telesitter to enhance patient experience, and no one showed up when needed. When called to follow up on patient status, I was always told that the staff was busy and they never returned the call. Doctors, Nurses and medical staff always came across as annoyed when asked questions. You would think that they would be professional, considerate, kind hearted and offer understanding when family is going through difficult time with a love one but that was not the case.

  • Ty Frahm

Highest of praises for Dr. William Lawson, MD, DDS. I was assaulted randomly and had a broken bone in my face. Dr. Lawson, despite his exceedingly high experience and expertise, answered all of my questions before and after the surgery with no attitude or annoyance whatsoever. I've heard horror stories of screws, plates, and mesh needed to repair an injury like this, and Dr. Lawson said he simply cut me open from inside the mouth and "popped" the bone back into place. This was several years ago, and I have not had any issues since. Thank you, Dr.

  • Es

Their billing department repeatedly billed things through the wrong insurance, or no insurance. I tried to resolve the issue for literal months and rather than working with me they sent bills (that I should not have owed- my insurance would have paid) to collections. I actually wrote this review once before, was contacted, worked to resolve the issue, and removed my bad review. Today I received ANOTHER collection notice for a bill they didn’t put through my insurance. This level of incompetence should be criminal. Pick a different hospital.

  • Inna Karabut

This is the worst hospital my dad is starving, they don’t feed him and treat him extremely badly, if I knew that it would be so, I would never agree for him to go there for treatment. The staff is incompetent and does not want to do their job if you don’t want to work in the hospital, don’t take someone that place. Excuses that now there is quarantine and there is no one to work already. they just don’t want to work. it feels like the workers just hate people. I’m crying because of the way they treat my sick, seriously ill father.

  • Will B

Dr Aaron Fischman and his fellow Dr. Carlon just saved my brother's life after he had a massive saddle pulmonary embolism. He was transferred to Mount Sinai from South Nassau Hospital on Long Island in critical condition, barely clinging to life. Without Drs. Fischman and Carlon, he would have died! They removed a massive saddle pulmonary embolism from him using a state of the art interventional radiology technique and snatched him from the jaws of death!. Thank you Drs. Fischman and Carlon, and thanks Mount Sinai!!

  • Kimberly Clarke

Wow!!!!! I had the best experience ever today. The receptionist was extremely courteous and polite, it seems like she loves her job. The Dr. had alot of patience with me, he actually listened to me.. He didn't treat me like I was just another number. All of the nurses I came in contact seem to really enjoy working for Mount Sanai. The service here was so great today to the point I couldn't wait until I get home to write this review. I'm writing it while I'm waiting to get blood work done.

  • Chantal Chiu

Lacking signage and directions inside the buildings--I got lost twice before reaching the right location. Mount Sinai double charges you and will send you a hospital bill on top of the physician's bill. Terrible customer service too--near impossible to reach anyone when you're trapped in the dial pad maze forever, and when you finally reach someone they'll tell you to call a different number, which gets you back in the dial pad maze. Will never step foot in Mount Sinai unless I'm dying and have no other options.

  • isaia ramos

I came to mount Sinai hospital on 5th Ave the worst hospital ever I came in at 5am the hospital was empty and it been like 8 hours later n I am still here and they told me they don’t know what’s the issue with me the doctors look like they don’t know why they doing they actually don’t know what they doing how you yank a niddle out my skin n why would u tell me u don’t know what I got after I explain it to 20 doctors n nurses. Everyone look confused I rather be in pain n be in traffic then coming back here.

  • Jake Weil

I had an appointment to see Dr. Khusid at 11:30am and upon arrival was told he was running 30 minutes behind. That was fair enough so I decided to wait. Fast forward to 1pm and I'm told the doctor still won't be free for another 20-30 minutes. With traveling to the office I had already wasted over 2 hours of my day so I decided to leave without seeing the doctor. They kindly offered me a prompt refund on my copay but that was the best part of the experience. I'll likely be finding another provider.

  • NC Legion

The concept is there, but the effort by many (not all) is ridiculous. Very sloppy, slow paced environment. Half the time nobody seems to know anything about patient updates, who is who’s nurse, when someone is to be consulted or even how to address people with the correct information. Most of staff from the building are genuinely kind and caring individuals who do their best to get the job done, but my God, PLEASE retrain the hands on departments AND their supervisors

  • Honesty Kills

There’s always a 1st and last time for everything that applies to this case. There’s no transparency in communication to patients. Staff is misleading and do not communicate. An ambulatory procedure took longer than a heart transplant surgery. With the exception of Patient Liaison Shantelle this was exhausting and draining. In my 50 years of existence I’ve never experienced such a horrible service from staff at a hospital. Unless you want to die come to this hospital.

  • Victor Sotomayer

Visited the emergency room yesterday morning. The doctors and nurses there were very helpful and friendly but the front desk staff was just outright rude, unorganized, impatient and seemed like they were unwilling to work. When patients come to the hospital they want to feel at ease and welcomed. Other then that the medical treatment was done accordingly and i appreciate the overnight doctors and nurses who attended me for my asthma. I truely thankyou.

  • Michelle Venning

On August 3, 2023 I visited the ER at this location and I must say I was impressed how they redesigned the unit, wow. Outstanding job and everything was so coordinated with the staff including my physician Dr. Wei Li and his team. Also I can't forget the security staff at the entrance for being extra cordial in offering me assistance, what a gentleman. Continue the extraordinary work Mount Sinai hospital on the East side of Manhattan.

  • Joe Rose

The food given to the mother of a new baby is worse than the worst food I have ever had in my life. Insanely disgusting rooms. The bed moves every 2 minutes to exercise the woman's back. It cannot be turned off. You have to unplug it. Boiling hot in the rooms, the air conditioner works on ventilation and nothing else. You can continue to write dozens more problems in the conduct. There is not even one good thing about this hospital.

  • Courtney Pourgol

GHETTO. It’s 4AM & a patients baby mama is trying to fight the staff and calling (and I quote) the nurses “black b*tches” ontop of that I explicitly told my doctors My GI doctor said no Tylenol, yet they bring me Tylenol. Nurses are sitting here talking bad about their patients and when you ask for help they act like they’re treating u for free. No one in here has any home training. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

  • Shaquay Williams

Thank you all so much ❤ My son was in the Mental health hospital there last month he's 12 and since his stay and discharge he's been doing great!! I am so happy to have the opportunity to meet the staff there and my son never complained!!! And just so you'll know hes always complaining lol. I recommend you'll to everyone!! Keep up the good work! From a mother who needed you'll.

  • NOEL CORDERO.

Terrible condensending doctors, PA's, and nurses at Mount Sinai Hospital Upper East Sides main location Emergency Department. I've never been treated so badly and made even fun at by the PA'S and nurses at ANY hospital in New York City. Avoid this hell hole, and go to LENOX HILL HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT instead, at 130 East 77th Street, NY between Lexington and Park Ave.

  • Sandy Louis

This hospital and doctors trash it's doesn't help me what I need . I have find other hospitals that does have everything I need to get better. I been stuffers since last Saturday June 4-8 no eating no drink but keep throwing up . Also doctor give paper referral that place doesn't have it shame I find my own to get what I need Gastroenterology. I called this hospital Devil

  • Kyle Blevins

I certainly didn’t plan on ending up in the ER in the middle of the night during my weekend trip to NYC, but I couldn’t have asked for better care than I received at Mount Sinai on Madison Avenue. The nurses and doctors were extraordinary in their compassion, attentiveness, and care. They restored my faith in good quality healthcare. Highly recommended this facility.

  • Yolanda Ortiz

My experience with my dying sister in law was very comforting and with lots of dignity, I appreciate all the doctors and nurses who helped us during her last days, especially Joseph RN on 7 west. His professionalism & power of love, showed throughout our stay. Thank you Joseph and the hospice team for their helpfulness, You are always in my thoughts and prayers

  • barbara melo melo

I just got home after 4 days in Mt. Sinai. Can’t say enough about the wonderful care I received there. This was my second time with them and my experience was the same both times. Incredible nurses; let’s not forget what they deal with every day. And of course doctors too. They help you with post hospital stay needs. Don’t worry, they take good care if you.

  • Steven A. Rohinsky

The experience I had, while my brother was recovering from surgery was more than less than ideal. However, one of the Business associates was absolutely so kind and so empathetic and his name was Hubert and I’m deeply grateful for him. The president of the Hospital will get a letter on my letterhead, explaining my distaste for their postop care. Thank you.

  • Arthur Glauberman

Every time I’ve come to Mount Sinai Hospital, I’ve been impressed with their doctors, nurses, radiologists and technicians who seem to love their jobs or are excellent actors! I recently moved into Manhattan snd have been constantly surprised by how the doctors keep to their schedules and I’m often surprised by their efficiency and professionalism.

  • Barry Fliegelman

Such a special hospital with dedicated staff. Wife had surgery, staff amazing the care and compassion was incredible. Recovery nurses on Annenberg 7 Yan, Kathy, and entire team went beyond and above all to assist my wife. These are just a special group and a G-D sent, bless them all. A five star hospital with a five star nursing staff. Barry F.

  • Gianfranco D'Ambrosio

waste of precious time! after an emergency visit we were waiting for some important exam results. they said for days that those were not ready and they would have called us... but then we finally discovered the sample was thrown away and nobody told us! after 5 days we got nothing. now my baby has an infection and is in an italian hospital

  • FAITH BLESSINGS

My experience with the hospital was okay the hospital seemed clean and took Covid precautions. I went in to have some blood work done, physical and my flu shot. I did have to remind the medical assistant to wear gloves and a mask while taking my blood, that seemed suspect but overall they fulfilled the responsibilities of the appointment.

  • Melvin Young

I recently underwent a cardiac procedure. The care was excellent. Everyone was attentive and committed to my well-being, from the physicians and nurses to the transporters and cleaning staff. Multiple checks made the possibility of a medical error impossible. I had complete confidence in the care I received. Mel Young , Nassau County NY

  • J D

So far we had a great experience. We had a great resident and anes… called 3 hours post op to check on us. only issue was the male nurse from pacu I withholding. doesnt even show care for the pt. talks like a barbarian and acts like he doesnt have any proper nursing care education. but it doesnt really define the whole hospital.

  • Michaela Miles

My 1 year old nephew was brought here due to acute liver failure. Erica and the entire staff were absolutely amazing and so quick to test some members of the family. My mom, his grandmother, was a match to be a live donor & everything went absolutely perfect! We can’t thank them enough for all they did to help save my nephew.

  • Kim Garcia

Was at the hospital for 6 hours today just for them to discharge me and only give me Tylenol. Mind you I was diagnosed with respiratory virus. Talking about just get over the counter medicine. Won’t be wasting my time here again. I still feel the same as before. Shortness of breath chest pain and want to say nothing is wrong
