Designed by Lord Foster and Per Arnold. The National Police memorial was unveiled in 2005 by HM The Queen. After the death of policewoman Yvonne Fletcher outside the Libyan Embassy Michael Winner the film director setup a fund to remember police officers fallen in duty. This successfully raised money via public donations and the rest was funded by Westminster Council. The memorial takes the form of a black granite clad tablet with glass chamber containing a book listing the names of those killed, This is a very iconic sculpture just outside the perimeter of St James Park and close to Admiralty Arch. Good to spend time there and remember police officers serving us doing their public duties so well and look after us on a daily 365/24/7 basis and we are very thankful to them.
I found this here on Google maps when looking for places to see and found this so had to come see it. I'm guessing that the glass bit was meant to originally be a water feature but can't find anything showing it working if it is. There is a book naming those who and how they lost their lives.
I never knew that they had a police memorial until I walked past it. Respect to all policemen and the work they do.

Incredibly respectful! For everyday in the year you will find the list of police officers losing their lives in service. What a proud and respectful nation! Admiring this ability to build self onfidence through respect to everybody!
Quiet respectful memorial with a a memorial book of constables taken in the line of duty on that date, pages turned daily. Was a little shame the memorial could do with some better upkeep and felt neglected.
Memorial dedicated to British Police Officers who have lost their lives whilst on duty. The layers of thin glass stacked upon one another makes for an artistically striking piece.
An understated memorial to the British Police Officers who have lost their lives in the course of their duty. Well worth taking a moment to stop and think.
The police memorial is currently under Renovation !!! But the book of fallen police officers Is still available to be seen
Not a wow place as such but a great memorial nonetheless and one worth stopping to view if around the area.
Well worth a look. Its easily accessible and is close to other key sites like Buckingham Palace
A very fitting memorial to all our fallen British police officers.
It's quietly tucked away, not far from admiralty arch.
Stunning, in every way! …
