We have previously stayed at the Woolstore however I’m not sure that we will return. During our stay in the third night there was a night time disruption in the car park very loud music which eventually stopped after sometime but returned at 11:50 pm waking myself my partner and our baby. There was a woman in the closed and gated car park (a patron of the hotel) in a car with a very loud music sitting stationary revving the car to its maximum in neutral. Doing this on and off for quite some time. She was also parked RIGHT under our window so as the crow flies was about 6 meters away. She then reversed out towards the entry door which did not open so she turned around and sped the 15 m to the end of that part of the car park. The next five minutes was spent speeding at maximum up and down the car park until she reversed into one car, then at maximum speed smashed into three others. This was entirely visible to us out the window . She then sat in her broken car for 5-20 mins with the music loud until 5 police attended with the paddywagon. Both the front window and back passenger windows were eventually smashed until she was detained by the police with a loud fight from the woman in the car, screaming and shouting. She was cuffed on one of the smashed vehicles and with great noise and difficulty put into the paddy wagon. This is obviously an incident that the hotel has no control over, however they DO have control how they manage concerns for the disturbance of other patrons. The next day we went to debrief/discuss our safety at the hotel with the staff at the front desk. I think it’s clear that the woman on the desk really had no idea of the severity of the incident. She completely played it down as if it were insignificant. We were told “No other people have been down to discuss it… she was arrested and it is a police matter”. So complete dismissal of our concerns with staying at the hotel following this event. Does this mean our thoughts and concerns as patrons are invalid due to the fact that no one else came to speak of it? Maybe they we’re lucky enough to sleep through, or did not have a baby to be woken. No apology. No complimentary breakfast or any sort of token of apology for the disturbance was offered. The dealings with our concerns I feel were completely inadequate from the front desk staff and we are left feeling pretty disgusted with this kind of dismissal. This incident on its own is annoying, however it was even more irritating following the awful night we had had with the cot they provided, horrific and rickety, loud to place a sleeping baby into so that every time the baby went into it he would wake, hence no sleep. My suggestion to the hotel for this particular issue is to get portable cots. We had to borrow one from a friend, this would be an issue for someone who is visiting without family or friends. It is also less expensive to maintain one customer rather than entice a new one, so in a rare event like this it wouldn’t be a loss to offer some kind of condolence such as a free breakfast. Poor management of a bad situation. Upon checkout we were not even asked, “How was your stay?” Room service is average at best. $47 steak was definitely not worth $47. Shower temperature was inconsistent.

The room we stayed in previously seemed to be more modern than this one. The linen was extremely loud and you couldn’t roll over with out a massive noise, not desirable nor convenient with a baby sleeping in the room. Showers had inconsistent temperature and the baby cots were inadequate.
Safety
Questionable considering the event we witnessed
Food & drinks
Room service was very average.

Absolutely loved it here. Staff were exceptional, and Rachel, who checked us in, went out of her way to help us. They have a limited amount of on-site parking, which must be booked in advance (be warned). We didn't know that, so there were no spaces available for us when we arrived. Both of us are hobbling after injuries and operations, so she promised to try to find something for us. By the time we got to our room, she was ringing to let us know she had a spot for us. Note, this is extra cost of $10 per day, but worth every cent if you want to come and go. Our room was comfortable and warm, quiet, and adequately spacious for the two of us. It had plenty of hanging space, kitchenette with bar fridge, cooktop and rangehood, microwave, toaster, kettle, sink and dishwasher, plus all the cutlery, crockery and utensils, you're likely to need. There was also a dining room table with 2 chairs, and a 2 seater lounge suite to watch TV and/or DVDs late at night. Plenty of hanging space in a double robe with drawers and sliding mirror doors, and an iron and ironing board hidden inside. Bathroom was a good size, and included a separate bath. Our room was nearly at the far end of the corridor, so quite a walk from the entry foyer. It was very cold in the corridor (icy cold weather while we were in Hobart). But our room was as warm as we wanted it to be with a very efficient and quiet split system airconditioner. We booked in to the Stockmans Restaurant on site the first night, and went to be Baaa Bar while waiting for it to open. Bar staff were very friendly and helpful, and they had a good range of drinks, including many Tasmanian beers, wines and spirits. Our meals were delicious - some of the nicest restaurant meals we've had, and generous helpings also. I can recommend the Tasmanian Beef Cheeks; my wife loved the Chicken Parma. Much of their menu consists of Tassie-sourced ingredients. We only had two complaints, both of which were quite minor. We requested an electric blanket for the bed (not included as standard). It was fitted when we arrived, but only one side worked. Not too much of a problem, because the room was warm enough that we didn't really need it. Also, there was a bit of sewerage smell in the bathroom sometimes. This is apparently and occasional problem that they have to treat. We didn't worry too much as we were out most of the time, but reported as we were checking out. Location was very good. Walking distance to Salamanca Market, dockside cafes and restaurants, and probably walking distance to the main street, although we drove because of our injuries. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. In fact, I probably wouldn't bother to look anywhere else. Price was pretty reasonable for what we got - especially when you consider we were there for the Dark Mofo Festival long weekend.

We stayed in the executive spa suite for three nights. While the bathroom was fairly well appointed, and it was nice to see a kitchen, the rest of the room left much to be desired. When we entered the room, there was a musty smell. We ended up leaving the door open on our first day to air the place. On the night we arrived, we called downstairs for some slippers because there were dressing gowns, but no slippers in the room. I've never been spoken to so rudely! The staff member told us repeatedly that no, there were no slippers and no way to get them. We were from Melbourne, with no idea about the surrounding Hobart area, and I was left with the prospect of going out at 11 PM to try to find something! About 10 minutes after our call, we'd just about given up and were heading downstairs to try to cancel our booking, get a refund and find a new place to stay when one of the service team came to our room with... some slippers! Apparently, they did have them! I thanked him, but asked to speak to the manager, then found out that's who I'd been talking to on the phone. The next day, we asked for two more pairs and had no trouble getting them. The whole experience was just baffling to me. Apart from that night manager on the first night, everyone else at the hotel was lovely. The breakfast was nice, nothing outstanding. The buffet closes at 10 AM, but if you sleep in, it's not a big deal. You can continue eating in the restaurant after that, 10 AM is just your last chance to get food. The room was honestly not at the standard I'd expect for $400 per night (worn carpet, old furniture). They also joined two single bed bases together to make a double bed. The balcony was very small and strange, though I can understand it might be trying to adhere to the outside look of the building. I didn't feel safe standing on it, however. The facing of the television was strange, like it was pointing towards the spa. This was our first stay in Hobart, and I can't help but feel I made a wrong choice. There must have been better options in our price range. A lot of the staff were great, there was just that one night manager that dampened the mood of our stay.

GOOD OVERALL BUT MY ROOM SUCKED This is a bit of a weird review to do because I didn't choose to stay at The Old Woolstore, I was there overnight as part of a respite retreat and so the accommodation venue was set. Overall my stay was positive. The general facilities and function room were great, and very well presented. The proximity to the waterfront and city is excellent. The food provided for our morning tea and lunch was exceptionally delicious. My meal in Stockmans Restaurant was also tasty. What was super disappointing was my room. Now I must say firstly that it was SUPER clean, especially the bathroom, and was generally well appointed BUT it was like a tiny, gloomy beige and white cell. A very small room (not wholly unexpected for a 'hotel room') with one window on the hard left side of the exterior wall. The window was as tall as the wall but only about a quarter wide and overlooked a concrete walkway with other apartment windows opposite. It was not helped by being on the ground floor. I know that not every room can have a great view but the effect of having such a small window meant there was barely any natural light in the room. Sometimes when we go on holiday the hotel 'is just somewhere you sleep' but in this case, as it was respite, I was looking forward to chilling in my room when we weren't doing our activities and I just couldn't. As I said at the beginning of my review this hotel was chosen for our event. If I was booking this hotel room for myself for respite I wouldn't have bothered with this particular room. I regret not bringing it up with staff at the time. In relation to my 4 star rating for service, I felt the service was good but not super friendly or helpful . There were a couple of things I had to check with the front desk and because of these interactions I didn't feel comfortable asking them about changing my room.

Very over rated. Thank goodness it was only a short stay. The receptionist upon check up was so rude, didn't even take 4 steps into the reception area before she was trying to hurry the check in. Definitely no hello just "do you have a booking" the key card was thrown back on the counter to you. The constant drone like a fan that was in the room became very bothersome and when we went to reception about it on the Friday and asked about it all we got was well you are staying at a discounted special promotional price. Yea well thank god for that, definitely not worth the $1807 that would have been charged for the 3 nights. The room was spacious enough, the only cleaning member that actually talked was so very helpful with information about what to do and where to go over the weekend, she was so lovely, unlike other staff you come across in hallways they just looked up and down. I've actually stayed in camp grounds that were way better than this place. I am usually fair and very rarely say much but this place is over rated and it only has the spacious room going for it. It is our first and last stay. Just a little hint, take a print out of your booking confirmation they are good for overcharging

We were put up for free when Jetstar cancelled our flights. The room was massive, but getting dated. This was a whole apartment with a microwave, stove top and even a washing machine/dryer. I don’t suggest you Use the dryer more than an hour before check out, as the cooling cycle took over 30 mins, and no staff knew how to open the locked door. I managed to find the emergency door open release, it this added some extra stress that we didn’t need. Not sure if the machine was faulty, as the first cooling cycle didn’t take 30 mins. The breakfast was pretty good. You could make your own eggs Benedict. It’s a shame for $27 each that there was no smoked salmon on the buffet. There were no hams or cheeses either. Pastries were a but average, and no waffles or pancakes. One of the bain-marie kids was broken off, which is just showing the age of the equipment. Staff were excellent,

This is an old building transformed into apartments. We booked a two bedroom loft apartment with two toilets and a really large bathroom with bath. There is a full kitchen with everything you can think of in it, including a dishwasher, full size fridge, oven, cook top and there is also a full laundry. There is two double lounges, multiple TV channels to choose from. Room service is available 24 hours a day and a really good restaurant serving breakfast and dinner. We are one block from Constitution Dock and the Derwent River and approximately three blocks from Elizabeth Street Mall. Different from some apartments we have stayed in, the apartments here are fully serviced every day. The staff are wonderful. We are having a great time staying here.

Always love staying here when travelling to Hobart. The convenience of apartment style hotel rooms with kitchen/washer/dryer, but with full hotel experience and room service and fab on-site restaurant. Great conference facilities and fun bar. Staff are always amazing and the walking distance to Salamanca & the marina is great. Great for families and corporate accommodation alike

Recently had my best friends wedding ceremony in the rose garden, followed by reception in the Merino room and we cannot thank the Woolstore enough for everything they did. Cristina, the events coordinator, was there for us every step of the way over 18 months, planning every single detail with us. Christy setting up on the day of anticipated everything we could possibly need and obliging all our requests. And Alex, wonderful Alex, who was with us from start to finish on the wedding day, who made sure our DJ was fed and our bride always had a drink in her hand and just made sure the day went so smoothly! Honestly, the team are amazing and you cannot go wrong with them for any event. Thank you Old Woolstore!

The only reason I gave The Old Woolstore Apartments is because of the noise. The floors above you, it sounds like elephants if you have heavy walkers above you and if they are up all night, you will be awake. The roads around the hotel are also loud as there is constant traffic. These are the only negatives. The rooms were great and super clean, bed was comfortable and the staff were amazing!

The shower recess has no hooks or shelf to place items on. The bathroom door is an issue. It becomes a major issue trying to manuver around the door. There is nowhere to place a suitcase in the main room. The restaurant is over priced, the evening meal was a huge disappointment. The drinks are 300% overpriced. A glass of whiskey at $33 a finger full? $104 for 2 plates and one wine and a whiskey? The vegetables on my plate were frozen vegetables heated. My partners pork shoulder was tough with the same frozen vegetables? Eat elsewhere! Lots of great Asian up the street.

Stayed in an disability accessibile apartment 8 nights which had by far the best bathroom facilities ever, the flooring was non slip, and for those with disabilities but not in a wheelchair, this was perfect.Plenty of support rails for ease of movement. Shower curtain actualy prevents water from going all over the bathroom. Having travelled for a number of years in many different cities and countries The Old Woolstore has my vote for the best bathroom disability accessibile facilities I've ever used and that includes some top name hotel chains. Well done ✔️ Shower chair also available.

The place was alright, staff are friendly especially the cleaning staff, and the aids are helpful, rooms can be cleaned daily if wanted. However other things, not so great. With 4 rooms rented for almost 3 months straight, no reserved carpark. I was on 3rd floor, the occupants in the room above me always running around and stumping their feet, which makes living below them hell. Complained about it to the reception few times, the answer I got "this is an hotel we can't tell kids not to play". The second time.. "We'll talk to them" . Nothing happened. This affected the overall experience.

Room was spacious and clean and very quiet - no traffic noise at all. The hotel is really close to central Hobart and the waterfront, plus Information centre etc. there was a gym which was ok but 2 pieces of equipment were broken and not fixed during my 6 day stay- Plus the aircon was not working. However the staff were great; the restaurant, room service and breakfast options were reasonable and good value. I really enjoyed staying there. There is limited parking and it costs $10 a day which was a drawback

Our apartment was very comfortable, practical, well-proportioned and clean. It was a genuine pleasure coming back each night after long hikes or days of sight-seeing to our room. The location is unbeatable, the kitchen is well equipped, the washer and dryer very useful and the housekeeping excellent. We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it as a lovely place to base yourself whilst exploring Hobart and it’s surrounds. I hope we can come back one day!

We had a great stay at the Woolstore. The accomodation is great however could use a freshen up in some areas, such as chairs. Apart from that, it was fantastic. The highlight of our trip however was happy hour in the Baaa Bar with Sheridan (Sherry). A professional, friendly and amazing bartender that made us feel like family. It was mesmorising watching her work. She made everything look so easy. Infectious, funny and just nice to be around. What an asset to the Woolstore!

The room sizes are HUGH compared to other hotels. The location seems obscure BUT the reality is it could not be positioned better. It's literally 3 mins walk to EVERYTHING. Had a fantastic few nights in Hobart, as a family of 4. Renovations were taking place, and the trades were super considerate of our timing and needs. The only issue was parking - $10 per night in their lot (not enough spaces for all their clients), or you go to the parking lot a few blocks away and pay about $20 per night, which was never mentioned to us. But, a great spot, close to plenty of places!

Loved my first stay at Woolstore. Central location with skybus stop outside hotel. Lovely staff who were all friendly and helpful. I forgot my phone charger and they had a spare one for me to use which was great.

Great hotel with history. The rooms had all the essentials and the beds were comfy. Strong wifi. There is also a buffet at the G floor with a good variety of options and they taste nice. Overall If you are looking for a hotel this would be a one to consider. More
