Situated en route to Bhavnagar from Ahmedabad, The Palace Utelia is amongst the best accommodations in Gujarat. Taking its guest on a heritage tour, this hotel property is adorned with several paintings, urns and other relics from the time of the Maharajas. The hotel is strategically positioned near the Bhugavo River, which eventually turns out to be a scenic location for the guests. Utelia was founded in 1786 by Bhav Sinhji, a member of the Vaghela Rajput clan that once ruled much of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Malwa and Rewa. The Palace Utelia was built around the turn of the century to replace a wooden palace by Nekamdar Thakore Saheb Sur Sinhji. The Palace Utelia is a typical work of the Indo-Saracenic architectural style with European influences, and features 5 domes, pillared galleries, balconies and porticos. Nice place

It is absolutely stunning, great host. It's like a huge old haveli which makes you feel like royalty. It's very rustic, so don't expect super luxury but given the location and the remoteness of the place, it's amazing.

This was closed on January 2021 due to renovation. The manager told it will take another 6 months to complete works. It looks great from outside.
