Introduction For centuries, schools have served as the primary institution for formal education, aiming to impart knowledge, skills, and values to young minds. While schools have undeniably contributed to the growth and development of societies, some critics argue that the traditional school system has its fair share of drawbacks. This essay explores the perceived negative aspects of schools, acknowledging their importance while also addressing areas that need improvement. Standardization and Rote Learning One of the most prominent criticisms of the school system is its focus on standardization and rote learning. Standardized curriculums and rigid assessment methods often neglect individual differences, stifling creativity and independent thinking. Students are frequently required to memorize facts and formulas rather than understanding the underlying concepts, which can lead to a shallow understanding of subjects and hinder long-term retention. Overemphasis on Grades and Competition The emphasis on grades and competition within the school system can create a high-stress environment for students. The pressure to achieve top grades often overshadows the joy of learning and fosters a culture of cutthroat competition rather than collaborative learning. This can adversely affect students' mental health, leading to anxiety, depression, and burnout. Limited Practical Skills Traditional schools tend to prioritize theoretical knowledge over practical skills, which can leave students ill-prepared for the challenges of the real world. Skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, financial literacy, and emotional intelligence are not always given adequate attention in the curriculum. Consequently, graduates may find it challenging to apply their knowledge effectively in real-life situations. Lack of Personalized Learning Classrooms with a large number of students make it difficult for teachers to cater to each individual's unique learning needs effectively. The one-size-fits-all approach may leave some students feeling disengaged and marginalized, while others may find themselves unchallenged and unstimulated. Personalized learning methods that cater to diverse learning styles and paces are often limited due to practical constraints. Inflexible Schedule The fixed schedule of traditional schools may not align with every student's optimal learning time. Early morning starts and long hours can lead to tiredness and reduced attentiveness during class. Additionally, students with different chronotypes (biological preferences for sleep and wake times) may struggle to perform at their best during conventional school hours. Limited Focus on Emotional Intelligence and Social Skills While academic achievements are crucial, schools sometimes neglect the development of emotional intelligence and social skills. These skills are vital for building meaningful relationships, managing emotions, and navigating through life's challenges. By overlooking emotional intelligence in their curricula, schools may inadvertently hinder students' overall growth and well-being. Conclusion It is essential to recognize that while the traditional school system has its drawbacks, it also plays a vital role in providing access to education and knowledge to millions of students worldwide. However, it is crucial to acknowledge these criticisms and work towards reforms that address the identified issues. By embracing innovative teaching methodologies, personalized learning approaches, and a greater focus on holistic development, schools can become more effective and nurturing environments for students. Furthermore, encouraging educators to adapt their teaching styles to meet individual needs can foster a more inclusive and supportive learning experience. Ultimately, by critically examining the shortcomings of the school system and making meaningful changes, we can create a more positive and empowering educational environment for future generations. disgraceful this highschool over like 10 people in my class had been suspended
This school is the pinnacle of education. In this school, I've learnt how to communicate with free speech, how to feel safe around larger people, and how to truly be yourself. This school has a very non prejudice justice system. An example is an opportunity to get a level for saying Ni Hao in Japanese class, pushing a girl but getting a level 4 because her friends identified it as assault and a suspension for punching a guy who had retainers, which made his lips bleed and marked it as 'Heavy Injury'. I know I'm not supposed to give my opinion, but I believe the school's punishment system is justified. This one student was rewarded a suspension for injuring someone, but since said student didn't commit past crimes, the school system rewarded the person with in-school suspension. Therefore, instead of letting the student stay in the comfort of their home watching EXPLICIT MATERIAL, they have to stay in the comfort of the school's office, barely trying to play video games while constantly looking out for teachers like a Five Nights at Freddy's game. The amount of work given in this school is very balanced, especially in Maths, people from 5.3 and 5.1 have the EXACT same amount of work, to boost everyone's learning capabilities. Homework is given equally for each subject so much so that the great Thanos commented on our school, "Perfectly balanced, as all things should be." and this puts a smile on my face, knowing that such a celebrity known universally compliments our school. The food service in this school is outstanding, to the point that even GORDON RAMSEY compliments the food due to this artwork being too c̶o̶l̶d̶ delicious. However, the food is hard enough to create, as it requires precise, expert craftsmanship to craft it, followed with the fine artistry required to make it. Then just cool for one day in the Siberian wasteland and the masterpiece is finished. Sometimes a student or two dies per lunch break but the chef, who's name is Joseph acclaims, "Death is the solution to all problems. No man - no problem." and since it's a quote from a famous deceased person in history, English teachers persuaded the authorities to let the school of the hook multiple times. This school has the greatest facilities. A lack of air conditioners are a design intentionally put by the school to connect us with nature. I believe that the lack of lockers allow the children to carry their inventory with them like in the olden days. Showers are also present here, but sometimes the plumber makes a mistake and connects the showers to the gas pipes instead of the shower pipes, and unfortunate accidents take place due to this. The plumber is actually a nice guy, he claims to be a German guy called "Heinrich Himmler" and says he neither supports the Liberal or Labour party, but the NSDAP.
Good School. A few pros and cons I would like to point out: Pros: - New school so most of the equipment is new - New facilities - Many of the buildings are spaced out, lots of room to move in - Lots of electives for year 9-10 students - Uses lots of technology - Lots of good teachers - Most teachers are helpful and are willing to put the time in to help you understand concepts - Have IT support on-site for any laptop problems - Homework club where teachers can help students with their homework or assignments Cons: - Teachers don't like fun. They shut down meme accounts for breakfast - No air conditioners or lockers - School is almost overpopulated - Wi-Fi here is slow - Assignments tend to be due all at the same time and you only get 2 weeks notice - A few bullying problems - Some classes can be separated by half the school - Long canteen lines - Most substitute teachers aren't very good - Not many choices at the canteen - Many teachers can sometimes lose control of their classes - The office ladies are very slow at helping people Overall, The Ponds High School is a good school and I would recommend anyone to go here.
I go to the The Ponds High School, and I love it here, even though I finish in September, at the end of September. Everyone is friendly to you, even the teachers, so don't worry; don't be nervous; you'll be alright. The teachers, students, deputy principals, and the principal are all friendly, you'll be alright. So don't worry. You'll be nervous at first, but that's all normal. I hope that the new year sevens every has a fabulous year. There could be more improvements to the canteen, so if you think that the food is rotten, gross or anything else, don't worry is good, but not too good. There are NO hot chocolates for Winters', so you can stay warm, which to me, is not fair. But, anyway, I do hope that you enjoy every year in this High School as the best as you can. I have been here since year 7 and I am in year 12 now, and I LOVE it here, so that's why I didn't drop out earlier. But it's up to you if you drop out earlier. But would you want to drop out earlier? Well, my answer for you, is no. I hope you enjoy High School and have great friends and great teachers. Yours Sincerely, Steven Larkin
This is an excellent school filled with exquisite children with high IQ knowledge. The air conditioning is amazing and so are the classroom seating arrangements. The equipment is great quality and tidy and always in use, and if there is a problem with the teacher's attitude then one report will instantly fix the problem. The school's lockers are beautifully designed and customisable and have more than enough space to fit books. The staff and students are very kind. The canteen has plenty of high quality cuisine including well made caeser salads and beef burgers, the whole menu is halal and very affordable. I would 100% recommend this school especially because of its' abundance of electives for unique study choices. Also if u dont know what the 5 p’s aRe i suggest u kys but im a nice person so dont kys Also if you wear black socks it is against uniform code dont be racist But peel paragraphs make me wanna jump of the big ben Come to this school to be smart and have a great time
This school... Its far better than what people think. I myself attend this school from year 7-9 till 2021. No school is perfect and this school is far from it. But that does not ignore the positive aspects of this school. This school is a great place for students to bond and connect with other. This school grants students with top tier opportunities and enables them to learn well. Sure the school is quiet populated, but I can not express how much I am hoping to return here. Many students will claim they dislike the school, and may get sent to another private institution just like myself. Please understand that this school is far better than described. Private schools for example cost triple times more and still have the same problems if not more. To conclude, this school is fantastic for students to grow academically and as people.
the ponds hs is actually one of the worsts schools in the hills, the canteen is actually more inflated than the now 2$ frozen coke at maccas and the butter chicken is actually surprisingly so bad keeping in fact that the school is literally packed with south asian students, the ac nor internet never work and the teacher are all rude and dont even try teaching. any carnivals that need buses always end up with students sitting on the floor cause they cant afford enough buses. their school is filled with racists and sexists and they care more about socks than public bullying. all the teachers are either dumb enough that im teaching them or old enough that their teaching us the wrong thing. the schools environment is worse than the slums in india. thanks for reading STAY QUIRKY AND PREPPY #vsco
The school has many elective options and tries hard to accommodate students, even though we always have something to complain about. Bullying and littering is a bit of a problem, but no more than any other school. I am satisfied to be student here and to have received the help I needed from the school when I needed it. Shout outs to Mrs Anwar and Ms Ding for helping me better understand things when no one else could explain it to me and for being understanding when I struggled with work. I also want to shout out Mrs Trigg and Mrs Halteh for helping me with issues not relevant to the classes that they taught me. This school is far from perfect, but it's a great place to go if you're interested in learning instead of mucking around.

This school is pretty amazing. The teachers are wonderful as well as the students. Every school has it's pros and cons, and will never be perfect. Yes the school dresses look like potato sacks and yes the canteen food is very pricey, but at the end of the day we are here to learn and have a bit of fun. The only thing I dislike is the choice in what language you want to learn, Japanese is the only option whereas I would prefer at least 3 options to choose from. Apart from that, tphs is great. +(The air conditioning is horrible tho) :))))
this school has given me crippling depression they have no lockers or airconditioners we all die of heat and due to the book all of our shoulders are nearly ripped out. books are good but this school makes you buy a textbook which we never use buy hotmaths which doesnt work and we have to buy over a hundred seperate books the school is interesting not to mention there rule of only 2 assignments due per week well its not like some people have 4 assignments due this weak, promise best school SARCASM INTENDED ITS BAD
I am a student of the ponds high school, but i am rating it 1 star because you have to learn stuff, if you didn't have to learn it could've been a 5 star, also the teachers are very friendly! Like Ms Fernandez and Ms Parkinson. Ms Parkinson is my favourite teacher, she is the best at teaching japanese. I also have yet to get a girlfriend because they always reject me :( The girls at the school are very mean. Overall, i like the school but i hate it aswell, if you remove the classrooms and the girls it will be ok
This is a great new school!!! Highly recommend no lockers or air conditioners and isn't big, but has great equipment because it is so new. I was lucky to get in out of area, because it doesn't allow out of area to get in (not sure how I got in, so must be lucky) overall pretty good. Sad that one of the best teachers (Mr Lawton) Left. Hope he has a great career in his new school. full respect to the teachers because they are great. Even though I have left the school, I would recommend it!!!
Overall, a pretty nice school. There are just some things that need a bit of improvement like idiots who like to vape in change rooms and leave the vapes with smoke still coming out. Also the fact that 14 year old girls like going to younger boys and asking them unnecessary questions just for a TikTok video which is stupid. But the school itself is good and has great teacher and staff. Just the older students who need improvement
An excellent school. Almost all teachers do a detailed explanation of a topic and they also help students if they are behind the coursework or need help in a question. The school is also filled with intelligent people. But the only problem in this school is that fights happen occasionally here and the fights try to ruin the reputation of this school. So I think teachers should prevent or minimise fights in this school
okay maybe the school doesn't have the best food, and the only solid food there is noodles and that sucks like what do we eat for summer. I still want lockers though. and i don't like the summer dress and that cotton to we are going to boil in the sun we should just keep one uniform and i think it should be the winter for all seasons. THERE ARE NO BLOODLY AIR CONS DO YOU WANT US TO DIE LIKE SERIOUSLY.
We have to bring bags with sport clothes, books and a laptop so it's a relief we have such large lockers. Also when we wear those bags we get very sweaty in the summer and the very effective air con saves out lives. also the school is very big so in the next 3 years the school will still probably be under filled. over all it is a great school with very lovely teachers.
My first response when I called to get information for my son to start year 7 next year waslook on the website.... Rude and unhelpful.. We live across from Hambledon Puplic School and was told we are out of the area, what a joke! My older boys went to Galston High School whilst living at Quakers hill, work this out!! Maybe a good thing his NOT going to this school.
i am a student at the ponds high school and this is what i have to say i am being bullied and it seems that the school doesn't do anything, whenever a subsitute teacher; teaches, some of the students play this high frequency sound that annoy the entire class. we need a fricken licence to ride a bike or scooter to school and most teachers lose control of the class.
I have been going to this school for the past few years, and as the top grade, I have seen many improvements. There are now many more opportunities available for new students. Although, I do wish there was more space, more teachers and air con. I hope the school can grow more within the next few years, and that this school may specialise in the future.
The school in general is decent, most teachers are nice. However, there are too many issues. Not every classroom has an AC which means you are either too hot or too cold. On top of that, the internet is not reliable, once you think you have it good and ready and is working, it'll drop off on you. I'm not going to get started on the rest.
This school not bad just not so good a sport the 2022 year 7 sport gala day, my school smash them Hardin basketball . Easy game, your player almost got dunked on! Man they were lucky my mate just needed one inch to touch the rim. And the couch needs to calm down too, she yelled so loud when your school was losing. (Bad at basketball)
The Ponds High School is decent. The internet is rubbish, and there are too many minorities. I'm not racist, but an overwhelming amount of one race is quite intense to be around. Canteen costs are more inflated than Sydney housing prices, and the only decent food there is are pies and sausage rolls.
Won't accept my neice who lives 12mins away from the school and is just a touch out of catchment whose sister is also in year 9 but they would rather put her safety at risk as she will be forced to catch 2 buses and a train to her in area school which will take her 45mins plus. Absolute joke!
Fantastic aircon in each and every classroom. There are so many Bins and the school canteen is super cheap and the lockers are super spacious! The uniform is wonderfull and comfy, and the wonderfull level system actually works. 10/10 would stand under the great and economic aircon again.
the school is amazing BUT EVERYONE COULD IMPROVE THEIR ATTITUDE IN THE FLIPPIN SCHOOL, EVERY THREE SECONDS SOME ONE IS PUNCHING A KID IN THE FACE AND THEN THE TEACHERS JUST Go AND SAY dond do dat agan THAT THE TEACHERS DONT EVER UNDERSTAND WHAT U ARE SAYING and the school is middddddddd
Based on the experiences I've had for the past 2 years at the school, as a student, I'm proud to say I've not regretted walking through and out of those gates each morning and afternoon. Feeling optimistic ahead for what I'm hoping to be the best year of my life!
Its aight. Could be better. Could stop locking the bathrooms during class because I truly feel like im in the 1960's where civil rights was involved but no segregation. But yea I dig the culture that the school applies. Could also add more food items to the menu.
Have read all the reviews , some commended there is no air con and lockers, some commended there are hugh lockers and air con, want to find out more about the school before sending my child to, which is the most appropriate/true commend? Parent
AMAZING SCHOOL OMG ITS SO GOOD. SO GOOD. EVEN THOUGH 1500 KIDS ARE DROWNING IN SWEAT WITH NO AC. THE CANTEEN IS SUPER CHEAP COSTING 20 BUCKS FOR A SOGGY/BURNT HASHBROWN. AND NOW 5 BUCKS FOR A MICROGRAM OF PASTA.
i went to the ponds high last year and i got bullied. the school is so crappy the principles do absolutely nothing. they "say" that they dont except bullying. then why didnt they stop me from being bullied.
So glad we have an air conditioner in every room, because it gets very hot in summer. I enjoy arriving at school and not having to carry my stuff around because the lockers are so large.
Pretty okay school, don't like the fact that the bathroom is scary to some people and how they remind you all the time that phones aren't allowed, literally 1984
One of my children were made fun of by one of the teachers and its a terrible school. My son is now extremly depressed and had to move schools
The teachers can get very annoying but some teachers are nice and the learning environment is not too good
my son committed suicide because of mr judge. thank you! regards eshaybah, mr judge (my daddy)
I go to school it amazung the skool so cool I wood give 5 star if thay good skol but no good
It is quite frankly, in a literal sense, the dystopian world of the Orwellian novel "1984".
Good school and good teachers, but there are way too much fights here.
Great School, kind and helpful front office and superb teachers.
