Me and my partner went for our Anniversary dinner. We pre booked and requested for a table next to window. But when we got there (right on time) we had to take the booth next to the walls the other side as all window side tables were occupied. Coming to the food, we dnt mind paying money for good food. We ordered an appetiser, smoked duck, chicken from the mains and portobello mushroom with garlic butter in sides. The smoked duck was a disaster, it was cold (felt like they took it out from the fridge few minutes ago). It was just a thin cold slice of something like luncheon meat. The chicken was fine. Nothing worth 32$. The most I liked were those portobello mushroom, as honestly you can't go wrong with that, because it was just mushrooms sauteed in garlic butter. Altogether we paid 72$ for as little as this which was not worth it. Was still hungry, but was no point ordering more from here. Being a foodie couple, we been to so many restaurants, starting from $ rated restaurants to $$$ rated restaurants. But never had this disappointing experience with the food in any of the restaurants till now. And we were so busy complaining about the food to each other and discussing the disappointment we actually forgot to take photos for our special day...

Came in for late dinner. Few tables occupied. I came from hotel entrance because I was staying for the night. I stood for about 5 mins while the lady in the counter socialize and people leaving conveniently. I finally caught the attention of the waiter who was very warm and polite. Ordered prawn linguine and wine. The woman on the counter her walked to 2 gentlemen having wine and asked and socialised again. Im on the next table eating. Food is not spectacular but good. Portion is juat ok. I was served well apart from the hushed laying down of wine on my table. I was given the tab before I requested for it. Gave it back to the waiter signed and he was gracious. Walking out I saw the same woman who ignored me on entry and again ignored me walking out. I was already outside the hotel going for a.walk I heard someone saying Excuse me excuse me. I looked back and she said did I sign. I WAS SO ANNOYED SO I SAID YES ASK YOUR WAITER BECAUSE YOU JUST KEPT IGNORING ME ANYWAY. She turned her back without apology. Spoiled my night.

Our 50th anniversary is memorable for all the wrong reasons. Family flew in from interstate and we arrived well before 6 to ensure meals not delayed, especially for the grandchildren. Well afer 50 minutes, other later arrivals had finished their meals, and when meals for our small family of 8 were served it was in 2 shifts. One end almost finished before the others served. Dinner is not supposed to be a spectator activity. Some meals were okay, but others were cold and overcooked. Oh that's right, the chef insisted its takes 25 minutes to prepare a medium rare steak with zero trimmings. Paid over 4 times what a basic decent pub meal would cost. So very disappointed that poor service and poor kitchen affected what was meant to be a very special family night. At least the wine was nice. Oh well, it is done and we can't reinvent the night, so we move on but never again at this place.

Went with a large group for a birthday party. We were seated in the Atrium which was great as it was private and we didn’t have to worry about disturbing other diners. We found the staff very friendly and the service was excellent. Drinks were delivered quickly but there was a long wait for the meals. I understand it takes longer for large groups but it was a very long wait. The food was very nice, everything cooked as ordered. The biggest issue was that the meals come without sides. $8 extra for mashed potatoes, or greens or even a bowl of chips is outrageous by any standards. I had the pork ribeye which was cooked perfectly but with two sides it was a very expensive pork chop! Better to add a few dollars to each meal and include potato and veggies than charge outrageously. It puts a night out way beyond the range of most people. In summary. Great service, nice atmosphere, food was excellent but sides way overpriced.

Several weeks ago on a Friday night we dined at the Promenade. There were four of us for dinner. From beginning to end it was absolutely wonderful. Both the food and service were of the highest order. Particular praise to Emile, Morit, Brad and Jefrin who went out of their way with their friendly, efficient and impeccable service. May I say your are a credit to this grand establishment and I cannot thankyou enough.---3 months later it was wonderful to see Emile back in the lunch service again!! Please take note whomever manages the staff at the Promenade. Emile brings such class and style to service that he should stay on the lunch service instead of the breakfast buffet which does not require as much service as lunch would. Emile is by far the most professional, immaculate host/waiter that I have ever experienced! That's for management to read and hopefully keep him on that shift at lunch. Superb Emile!

We came as a larger group for a wake. Staff were snappy and not welcoming. The food, which we had been asked to pre-order a week prior, started coming 40 minutes after our booking. Most people on the table had finished eating their meals by the time the last meals were served. The serving sizes themselves were much smaller than you’d expect and most of us were left hungry. At the end of it all we went to pay separately, as we were told during our booking process that we would be able to, and staff refused to split the bill. It is ridiculous that one person had to pay on behalf of 40 people, all because the staff couldn’t be bothered. Disappointed in this experience and service, and hope that management takes this feedback into consideration for future.

Went there for the first time and had to wait forever to be seated, even with plenty of staffs and free seats right in front of us. Oysters were tiny the size of a thumb at $19 for half a dozen. The cocktail was alright. Our food came out cold after 30 mins of waiting. Ordered steak and was given the more expensive one, but after so long of waiting we thought it wasn’t worth it to return the dish. My steak was bland, couldve done a better job myself. My boyfriend’s slow cooked ribeye was fine. After finishing the dish we were both left still hungry despite each dish being worth nearly $40. Came up to roughly $120 for 2 people and we were left so disappointed. Never returning here. Just found about about the 15% surcharge on public holidays and that’s absolutely disgusting. This place is the last on my list of recommendations.

If you're thinking of dining here, dont. This was so disappointing. We spent one night and day in Glenelg and were really looking forward to eating by the sea, with a view. Should have eaten on the main strip. Tables and cutlery were dirty. Chairs were itchy. Menu very limited. Servings were just warm and tiny. We don't actually know what was in one of the meals as it was not what we ordered, but they insisted it was. The fish and chips had maybe a tablespoon worth of fish that was luke warm and butning hot potatoes around the side. Even the wine was bad? The place was pretty empty from our arrival at 7 to when we left a couple hours later (food and service took a long time). They dont seem to get much business, and it is clear why.

Waiting waiting rush then out! Over all the waiting staff were great the food for the high tea was what i expected, nice on the expensive side. The room was set out very nice and overall was good but unfortunately we were booked in for 3pm all guests had arived on time yet no food came out until we had been there for almost 1 and a half hours. There for food came at 4.20pm and we were then asked just before five to pack it up and go as thay were wanting to set up for tea service!!!. 3pm till 5pm was the time frame i kind of expected but the fact we all sat around wating so long then had so little time once we finaly recived the food was more than disappointing. If only it had been timed better with everything coming out i think it would not have felt like such a rush to get out.

The restaurant is located in stamford hotel Glenelg. The reception was nice and the staff were so friendly and professional. In general, the food was nice as well but they can definitely improve on number if issues. The lamb dish was well balanced and nicely cooked. The pasta was touch over cooked but nicely flavoured. The garlic bread was way below average. The bread was dated, dehydrated and not enough garlic, butter or cheese for a simple garlic bread. The service was a bit slow and took us nearly one hour to receive the dishes. I think the restaurant really needs a significant renovation. The decor, chairs, tables look so old and dated. The lighting of the restaurant is not proper which really affect the experience.

Dinner: Food was nice but very limited menu. Staff forgot our sides had to ask. Also the staff were sitting down to eat in the restaurant while the customers were there. Breakfast: We ask a for 2 Lattes with our buffet and after 15 minutes they hadn’t come so my husband ask one of the waiters who told us it wasn’t his fault because we hadn’t ordered from him and wanted to remind us it wasn’t him who had taken our order. What ever happened to ‘ok sorry sir I’ll look into what has happened and get it sorted for you’. We actually had to point out the person who we ordered it from to make him happy as he was so not going to take the blame!! ??? VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. All other staff were friendly and obliging. No other issues.

DON’T bother getting the chicken schnitzel especially with mushroom sauce from here! The schnitzel was hard as a rock and to top it off the mushroom sauce was the worst that I’ve ever had, they had champingion mushrooms out of a can and it was more like a water than a gravy Also when I ask for a Shiraz I don’t expect to see a white wine come out for me - seriously if your a bar tender and you don’t know what a Shiraz is you may need to go back to wherever the hell you were taught RSA and polish up on your alcohol standards! a total waste of money and a bad experience for the price that your expected to pay for a sub par experience!

  • Paul Long

I only have the taste of Singapore menu options at this restaurant. The grilled satay mix of beef & chicken with ample serves of the best satay sauce keeps me coming back. The curry puffs and the curry are well spiced and very tasty. There is a good selection of South Australian wine available and staff are very pleasant & attentive making sure your water glass is always filled. The view out to the Glenelg foreshore is perfect and great if you arrive at sunset. There is a range of seating available depending on your mood. The music however although suitable for the rest of the complex was mismatched for the dining area ambience.

  • Jeremy W

I’m wondering if the hotel staff was struck by Covid and they had to hire inexperienced staff with no notice. The service was simply terrible. The waiter who served us seemed to have no high end restaurant experience at all. Another waiter took some of the order and the main person had to ask again as she had completely got it wrong. We even had to ask for the wine list! The dishes were average, some good others not so. Otherwise I would have rated 1 star. The room was too cold, on a cold winter night. I don’t think I’ll go back.

Just absolutely the worst place to eat on the strip. Save your money and a horrible experience with below average food and dirt and filth in the bathrooms, dusty, old and worn. Worse still all the manager says of these negative and true reviews is "Thankyou for your feedback blah blah" but nothing, absolutely nothing has changed, so what is the point Mr. Manager in reviewing if you as the Manager make no attempt to improve??!!

I just love this place. What I really love are the Itty biddy itsy bitsy oysters and clams. You can scoot them into other dishes and create a special meal, known only to you. I like the long wait for service as it warms up my creative food brain. One oddity though, there might be cameras in the overhead lights. I thought I saw an eyeball looking at me. The management is wonderful, no matter what I asked for, the response was always “yah sure Mac”. Maybe if I had longer, I would have gotten my food. Oh well. This, place just can’t be beat.

  • Nelson Granchi

I have dined here half a dozen times and all were excellent experiences. The food is delicious and I love that they have both Western and East Asian options. The reason, however, that I keep returning is the service. Raffaele is an excellent restaurant manager, very welcoming and friendly. The wait staff are also very attentive. We were served by Corinna the other night who was particularly good, but all the staff are very professional. Looking forward to my next meal here next time I'm in Glenelg!

  • Alessa Young

Enjoyed a lovely high tea for a friend's baby shower in the private terrace area. Plenty of sweet and savory options to go around. The scones are fantastic! We had nut and gluten allergies for some of the guests and the restaurant was able to provide them with their own high tea to ensure no cross contamination. It was extremely well done! The wait staff made sure our glasses were constantly full of tea, coffee, and bubbly. And the view of the ocean was the sweet icing on top of a great afternoon.

  • Michele Logmans

Had to wait to be seated as no one at the desk. Asked at reception if restaurant was open the reply was yes I'll ring to wake them up. Waited for approximately 5 minutes for staff to casually come out and of er no apology for keeping us waiting. As for the meal we had the lunch menu. I had pea and asparagus risotto and my daughter had the pasta which was supposed to have salmon in it but came out with prawns. Both meals were tasteless and so boring. I left 90% of my meal. Will not be returning.

  • Jenny Williams

We were sitting at the chairs with a coffee table. The ledge next to these on the wall was coated in thick dust and glass rings. Filthy!. Then the bathrooms, they smelled like a back alley and were very dirty and seedy. Will never stay there as I wouldn't trust the rooms were being cleaned properly. Although the staff were great I won't be going back

Experience was OK. Nice location and setting but the food was terrible. They were nice enough to cater for gluten free but it was awful (three layers of gluten free bread for each sandwish, scones tasted like balls of flour), fillings were bland. Also, they are not forthcoming with the tea - we had to ask for it initially and then had to keep asking for refills, decaf coffee came out in sachets and a pot of hot water. It's not cheap at $40 each for what you get.

  • sharyn Haze

We expected a delicious meal, it was the Grand Hotel. First course soup needed alot of seasoning to eat. The chicken breast and steak was unfortunately, hard to chew and the home cut house chips where floppy and tasted boiled. The salsa was completely missing from the chicken dish as described in the menu. The service was very good and the meals came out quickly. The restaurant is very comfortable on the beach front.

  • Ron Vickers

Disappointed that we booked in October for a table in November. Got a confirmation email but when our group arrived there was no booking. Fortunately I had kept the email and they had a table for us. I had a steak which was nice but not even a lettuce leaf on the plate for decoration! The rest of the group had the seafood buffet which was okay but $78.00 per person was a tad pricey but there was 20% discount.

Stayed here for few nights. First night had Oysters. They smelt pretty near their off date. Didn’t eat them all, as wasn’t keen for a turning stomach. Definitely not fresh. Would have hoped someone would have warned me or even asked me how my meal was so I could give “constructive” feedback. Second night had Steak was cooked really well. Was pricey but very nice. Drinks aren’t cheap.

  • Lee SCHULTZ

Our experience at The Promenade restaurant tonight was disappointing, the food came out staggered, instead of all coming out together (the table next to us was even worse) the service was very very slow, drinks took for ages to get to the table, again, we were very disappointed as a group. The 5 plates served were definately not good quality. We would not recommend.

  • anthea pelgrave

Really disappointed with the high tea . Very little savoury , sandwiches looked to be made by a child No flair, tasteless , lacking ingredients , white bread , single layer . Sweets were ok but melted on the tray as the a/c not coping with the 40 degree day . Would not recommend sadly . At $36 / head without bubbles , too expensive for what you got

High standards of service and food. This restaurant absolutely delivers on F&B service as well as food quality and they don't compromise on portion size in the name of being a high quality restaurant service. Our tummies were full with flavors and food. Great experience!! Highly recommended …

Went here for grandma's 90th bday. Food was nice I had the rump minute steak of the specials menu but found that it was not as filling as I would have hoped so I ordered a side of chips as well. Overall the food and service was good and we had a great view from our table onto the beach and jetty.

  • Adriel Mangohig

We had to wait 1.5 hours for the food to arrive. My friend also organized a birthday cake as a surprise, but it took them more than 45 minutes to bring it out. This was even after my friend emphasised that it was time sensitive. Would not come back recommend going to place.

It was ok my wife's food was cold and 36$ for tini bit of stake and a 12 chips. The third star is for the mushroom sauce. Oysters where questionable as they where not as cold as I'd like. Would I go there again Definitely not. Not looking forward to the breakfast

Can i give a 0 star everything was stone cold the oysters were overpowering with sauce and the prawns are the same frozen ones you can get at a cheap cafe but 5 times the price and the mushroom well i cant get the nasty taste out of my mouth disappointed

Dated, cheap/damaged furniture, food is totally unremarkable and overpriced for what you get. The salmon was served with a hodge podge of vegetables like onion and olives that did not work together. However, the buffet breakfast was quite good.

I had the winter special chowder and beef pie with my family and we totally satisfied for the meal. The price was also good. Next morning, we had breakfast buffet here. If the staff who made the omelet was friendly, I might really loved here.
