Though I had a truly lovely massage, the customer service and lack of communication were what ruined The Raven for me. I received a gift certificate for a Prenatal Massage at the Raven in Silverlake for my baby shower. I booked the massage for October 20th, and lo and behold, that morning my water broke and I went into labor. I tried calling them the entire way to the hospital to let them know I wasn’t going to be able to make it. No one answered nor was there a way to leave a voicemail. I called 6 times! While in labor! I emailed them as well telling them I’m sorry I missed the appointment - please tell me if this was received. Nothing. No reply. No follow-up to say “You missed your appointment, therefore your gift certificate was charged for this.” Nada. This past week I finally re-made the appointment. I was SO excited! I have a newborn, and as all my fellow parents out there know, you don’t get to leave the house much in these early days. We love our baby, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm exhausted and sore and I was really looking forward to my message. SO, I go and end up having a wonderful Deep Tissue massage. Excellent. Five stars. Afterward, I went up to pay with my gift certificate, and the woman at the front desk who was passive-aggressively rude informed me it was canceled because of my missed appointment on Oct 20th. I explained to her I was in the hospital in labor, I tried to contact them, all the things. She could not have cared less. She informs me of their strict 24-cancellation policy no matter what. NO EXCEPTIONS. Seriously? I missed my Prenatal Massage because I was in labor. I understand everyone's time is valuable and I understand that every business has its policies. But, given the circumstances, I was looking for some sympathy, some flexibility, and some understanding. I’m not trying to grift a free massage here. So I paid out of pocket which stung. My life is not particularly luxurious right now as a new mom. Money is tight and free time is even tighter. I was really looking forward to using my gift. Instead, I had an amazing massage and still managed to leave with a terrible taste in my mouth. The front desk woman was unkind, inflexible and came across as totally unsympathetic. I NEVER write reviews like this, but the whole experience just really doesn't sit right with me. I find it ironic that a place of holistic body and mind services (that I went to for yoga for years) is so rigid and inflexible especially when it comes to their Prenatal offerings. Perhaps they should figure in the possibility of labor into the Prenatal offerings. If you're looking for a restorative experience I would look elsewhere for a spa that offers a total package of customer service and quality massage - especially if you're expecting - because the Raven ain't it. TLDR - I WENT INTO LABOR ON THE DAY OF MY PRENATAL MASSAGE APPOINTMENT AND THEY CHARGED ME ANYWAY.

I paid for a 90 minute hot stone massage as a birthday gift to myself. The woman I was paired with was extremely rough. She applied way too much pressure with the heels of her feet as she walked all over my back, she had the same issue when she used her elbows. I’m 6’2”, 210lbs and she had to be no more than 5’8”, 120lbs—so that should tell you a lot. She seemed like she was just trying to get the massage done, quality wasn’t of importance. I wasn’t relaxed at all. I also was actively contracting my muscles the entire time to keep my arms in place, as the massage table was too narrow for me and my arms were falling off every time she worked on them. Not sure if there are larger tables for larger clients, but that would’ve helped. She also was pressing down on my head with her stomach as she reached over from the head of the massage table to work on my back (a stepping stool would have been a simple solution). The room I was in also had a large/loud standing air conditioning unit, so it was rather noisy. To make matters worse, after paying/tipping, the woman at the front desk asked “Was that tip a mistake? It’s so low”. After explaining why I left such a low tip (I honestly shouldn’t have left a tip, as I paid almost $200 for a service that was subpar—let’s just call a spade a spade), she asked me if I wanted to try something more relaxing, however, due to her vague verbiage I couldn’t tell if I would have to pay for this other service or if it would be on the house since I didn’t have a good experience, so I said no. Also, a hot stone massage is pretty relaxing… I usually fall asleep while getting one. I can see if I got a Thai massage and was complaining of it not being relaxing lol, but that wasn’t the case. Word of advice to the staff at Raven Spa… It is extremely tacky, to say the least, to question a client about how much they tipped. If someone is paying almost $200 for a massage, I doubt tipping well would be a problem—the issue was clearly the service. A simple “How was the massage? Would you book another session with the masseuse you had?” would have sufficed, and you wouldn’t have had to bluntly question someone about the tip they left, in the main lobby with people around (it seems other clients have had similar experiences). It is for that sole reason that I am leaving this blunt review. Also, if you’re trying to rectify a problem with an unhappy client, specific verbiage is preferred over vague verbiage. So instead of asking “Do you want to try something more relaxing”, you can say, “Since you didn’t have a good experience, we’ll schedule you with one of our more experienced masseuses, on the house”. My entire experience there was disappointing. However, I’m sure some of the staff are wonderful based on the reviews.

I want to start out by saying everyone should be paid a living wage and I know it's costly to run a business and that my issue is not with the price of the massage. However, the pricetag of these services is not commensurate with the quality. To start off, the woman at the front desk was so incredibly rude that I was shocked. Nothing she asked or said was particularly egregious but the way she talks to you makes you feel like you are absolutely ruining her day. This was my first time at the spa and she chastised me several times. It was almost like I was in trouble as soon as I arrived. I got there several minutes early and she seemed very stressed about starting the massage on time which in turn stressed me out. She also expressed irritation with me for not specifying I wanted a pregnancy massage despite there being no option to request that online, and despite me leaving one voicemail and another missed call, neither of which was ever returned. When I tried to.get a cup of water I had trouble because all the cups were stuck together. She demanded I take all the cups I touch—a fair request!—but the way she said it was so curt and felt like she was talking to a child. She said "we're still in covid times," which, why aren't you wearing a mask then, and two, covid isn't spread my touch, and third, maybe fix your cups before you set them out so people can actually use them and they're not all stuck together? Everyone has bad days, but she was short with me when I arrived for my massage and an hour later when I left. None of her requests or irritations were unreasonable but this woman does not know how to talk to customers. She is condescending and rude and has higher expectations for her customers than for her own business. The massage itself was fine, nothing special, but the initial face that greeted me put such a sour taste in my mouth that I will not be back. I will not be back.

My wife and I were just at the Silver lake location. We received the combo massage. I emailed the spa to let them know and they ignored my messages My wife’s treatment was extremely poor, and lacked luster. There was no rhythm or pressure, it felt like a sad leg and arm rub. The scalp treatment, which I was most looking forward to, again was sub par. We loved the atmosphere and the lady at the front desk but were very disappointed overall by the services. Both therapists were doing different things, there was no consistency or techniques after my wife and I exchanged notes on what the masseuses did. Mine was not great, just okay, but my wife’s was just terrible. Overall, we have to say we won’t be back, the treatment quality was poor, inconsistent. We felt that we paid the same amount for two completely different treatments. Also, the towels placed over our faces we’re definitely not clean.

I enjoyed everything about this place, friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere and a great massage given by my masseur Chai. This little bohemian oasis was worth the drive and I'm glad I discovered it through Groupon. I got a Swedish + Thai massage combo which felt great and really loosened up the knots in my back and neck. The dim lighting and pitter-patter of the fountain running in background really set the mood and helped me to relax. During the last 30 mins I also received a small facial treatment. I wish I knew what products were being used on my skin (I can see how that might bother others) but everything felt very natural and made my skin feel nice to the touch. This is my favorite spa by far! I've been about five or so times now and I've never had a bad massage here, only good and stellar. I've had the best experiences with their Thai massages, but I also love their custom/deep tissue massages for when particular areas are giving me trouble. Their place is a lovely wood and tile indoor courtyard, with ambient sounds playing unobtrusively in the background. It sets such a tranquil, relaxing mood. Shout out to Mary(? I'm horrible at remembering names), who's apparently usually at the Santa Monica location but is at Silver lake until the end of November. Such a revitalizing Thai massage! I have a bad shoulder and it revitalized it and me so much. The only thing to keep in mind is that they have no lot so it's street parking only, which is metered (accepts card).

This was the most authentic traditional Thai massage I have ever experienced outside of Thailand itself! Nana was such a great therapist and healer. I highly recommend having the 90 mins massage with her, it was truly amazing and brought tears to my eyes at the end (in a good way) as I could feel how much tension had been released thanks to Nana's massage techniques. The front desk was very inviting. Christine, the spa manager together with Stephanie, the esthetician on staff greeted me upon arrival and made me feel right at home! I loved the set up of the place and it fondly reminded of my time traveling through Thailand. I will definitely be back and I am so happy to have found this beautiful gem in LA, big thanks to you all at Raven Spa, I can't wait to visit again in a couple of weeks!

I purchased an online gift certificate for an xmas present on Dec 13; it is now Dec 20 and I still havent received my gift certificate. The only thing Ive received is my receipt. I called the next day and actually spoke with someone at the front desk who said that is should be emailed within 24 hours so I said Ill wait. Its now been a week. I've emailed and called the SilverLake office at least a dozen times; no one ever answers the phone or returns messages. Today I called and someone picked up the phone and hung up. I thought about going over there in person to get my gift certificate but at this point if the service is this bad just getting a gift certificate, what would the actual massage be like? Im getting the charge reversed. Its a shame because the place looked/seemed awesome.

Though we have always been a fan of the spa, we haven't been in a few years. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience.The room was far too bright and when we asked to have the lights dimmed, they weren't. The room was cold and when we asked to turn the fan off, they did but then somebody opened the window right above our heads. And finally, there was zero music. They had to stop our massage and go bring portable music in so that it could drown out all of the extraneous noise like toilets flushing and floors and stools creaking. It was a bummer because there was nothing actually wrong with the massage just the environment which was so distracting that it was not enjoyable. And four $400 plus definitely not worth it.

Online it said you get a foot, arm, neck, head, and face massage. I took my friend here for her birthday and they only did a quick foot and arm massage and a face mask, no head massage (which is why we came), no neck massage, and no reflexology which was also advertised. It also doesn't say you're in a communal room. We called ahead to make sure they had a sauna and they did but when we asked where it was they said we have to call ahead so they can get it ready and that we couldn’t go in (which was never stated). Desk worker was alone and not friendly because she had to do everything herself. $110 each is insane for this kind of service and I should have asked for a refund.

I've been patronizing the Silverlake location for a few years. I booked a month ago with a specific therapist. At the time my request was confirmed but when I arrived someone else did my massage. It was nice but not as enjoyable as I'd hoped. It's a bit rude not to honor a client request for a specific therapist. I should've been given the option to book another day with the person I wanted instead of being misled. The manager has terrible phone manners!!! Additionally, I had trouble redeeming my gift cards. I told my husband not to buy anymore gift cards for this establishment. It's too bad because the therapists are great!

Hello , I had the best facial yesterday by Stephanie! She was professional, warm-hearted, and she was absolutely gentle with my face! Not only that but she took her time on explaining everything she was using on my face ! Can’t wait to go back to her .. The massage I got was absolutely beautiful, unfortunately I don’t have her name but she was also very sweet !!! I love this place , the minute you walk in you get a sense of peace , and welcoming. I highly recommend this place . Step in to a beautiful new you couldn’t of asked for a better way to start my spring. Feeling rejuvenated

With the exception of the entrance, everything about this place is average. The entrance gives you that zen feel. The customer service is ok, not great. We had a couples massage (Thai Swedish). We’ve had massages all over the world and this was average at best, just ok. Needless to say we will not be coming back. This place might be good if this is your first time getting a massage, but if you’ve had really great massages in the past, then I would pass on this place.

I went in for a massage this past Thursday. I chose the 1 hour deep tissue and the 30 minute facial. I typically get 10-12 massages a year and I've NEVER had to make a complaint like this. I had a male therapist and he got extremely close to my bikini line. They texted me after my massage and asked me to rate my experience. I texted them back explaining what happened and they never responded to me after that or followed up with me. Would not recommend.

First, Raven Spa (Silver Lake) is local, for me. Each time I’ve arrived there the spa has been calm, quiet, and clean. I was specifically looking for an Infrared Sauna, and it's there! Finally, the service is very hospitable, but not over the top, which I appreciate. Side note: The parking situation isn't great, but has been manageable the two times I've been there. However, there isn't much a business in that area can do about it; life in LA.

Too bad! I would have given this place a 5 star rating if it wasn’t for my experience with the woman at the front desk. After my facial I walked to the lobby and as I was thanking her for such a wonderful time, she angrily shushed me. Yikes! Of course it’s a zen place and you should be respectful and overall quiet, but I certainly wasn’t being loud. If anything, her rudeness was what disrupted the zen. Might go to another spa in the future…

It’s a beautiful set up, the space is gorgeous, but the massage itself was very VERY expensive and not any better than one I pay less than half for at YOLO foot spa down the street. I only came in because they had a last minute appointment available. Figured I’d treat myself to a fancy massage… my masseuse was nice and did a good job, brought me a wee cup of tea and some oddly sliced fruit at the end. Not his fault, but I’ll not be back.

Wonderful experience! I decided to gift myself a 90 minute, 4 handed King/Queen Massage at the Raven Spa. Absolutely wonderful. Both masseuses were amazing. Apologies for probably butchering their names: Tiphe & Zaie - thank you ladies for probably the best massage ever. The only problem now, how will I ever go back to a massage with only one therapist? Spa itself is nice, clean and whimsical. Loved it!

Love the ambiance here. Very friendly staff, quiet, earthy environment and hidden away from the busy LA life. The massage however was ok. I wanted a relaxing, dreamy experience, it was a 60 min Swedish massage however, built for speed, not sleepy relaxation. It was face paced working out the problem spots massage. It was not a relaxing caring feeling it felt more like a spots massage.

Great people are working there- after massage, sauna, steam shower, my brain stopped working, and I left my sports bra at this place. A girl working at the front looked for it, and finally located it for me! I know it's embarrassing, but I just bought it and only wore like twice. And sports bra is pretty pricy.... She and people at The Raven Spa really made my day bright.

From the moment you walk through the beautiful front patio the relaxing mood is set. My girlfriend and I got a couples deep tissue massage with a couple of incredibly talented and intuitive masseuses. After our good feeling relaxing massages, we were served warm tea, apples, dates and grapefruit slices! I couldn't ask for a better experience!!!! Can't wait to come back!

Run, don't walk to Raven Spa. I've been twice and both experiences have been wonderful - first time for a facial and second for a massage. The atmosphere, quality of care given and customer service are all unmatched. This is a beautiful, peaceful space with fantastic energy. Could not recommend more. Will be making sure I go every time I'm in LA in future.

Milk gave me a wonderful facial! There were a number of great treatments all rolled into the appointment, and I appreciated her telling me every step of what she was doing. Reception provided friendly and very attentive service. Showed up to an event later that day and was getting remarks left and right (unprompted!) how great I looked!

Excellent Front Desk Personnel, Excellent and Thorough 90 min Massage and I Always Love the "Treats" of Fresh Fruit and Tea to unwind and Feelings of Pure Relaxation afterwards. The Raven Spa is an Excellent Getaway while at home. P.S. Try the Infrared Spa to unwind right before your massage to soften your tight muscles and body!

Got the Rock Star massage. Supposed to be 30 min on your hands and feet and an hour on your back. Never got to the back part. Hands and feet feel absolutely amazing. Back feels worse than when i came in. And that was the main reason i came in. Really disappointed. I've gotten better massages for $50 and this was $212!!

This is the only place I will get a massage. They have the best masseuses ever. And christine their manager is another reason to go. She is so lovely and happy and so professional and kind. They are lucky to have her. It’s the only place I send my friends and family who need a brilliant massage and service.

I took my mother here for a traditional Thai massage and she loved it. She was having terrible back, neck and arm tensions. After this massage she felt really relaxed. She was sore for a few days but didn't have any more problems. It's been about a month and she still feels amazing.

I got a deep tissue massage from Mae and it was fantastic! Her style was unique and very enjoyable. I was greeted by Christine the manager who was so nice and welcoming. After the massage they gave me some fruit and tea to decompress which was a lovely way to rejoin the world.

My mother, whom I gifted w a 60 min facial left delighted for Mother’s Day, loved all the different techniques that were used, she thought the beautician was able to extract all her blackheads w care and without being in a rush. She loved the spa treats tea at the end.

I found them on Groupon and I purchased the 10 infrared sauna package. I was skeptical at first but the facility is well maintained. They have a variety of services such as yoga, facials, massages..etc. As you can see you get your sweat on and come out feeling amazing.

Simply the best spot for a low key episode of relaxation and wellness. Lovely, well trained staff and a great venue to relax in. Their saunas are the highlight, as well as their Turkish service offerings. Pricing is reasonable and the experience well worth it.

A treatment at the Raven is the best gift you can buy yourself. The staff is amazing. The therapists are HIGHLY skilled. It’s a great deal and a unique experience compared to other spas.

Low quality Thai massage for twice the price of other Thai spas. Massage rooms are open air with sheets separating them. Facility and service are mediocre at best. Go elsewhere.
