Really weird business model. They mostly seem to be a small-scale catering operation, charging pretty steep prices for bundles of meals that you can reserve in advance, here's an excerpt from their site: "Pick your dates & portion sizes -- Small – Feeds 2 Adults $117 for all 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) ... Medium – Feeds 3 Adults $175.5 for all 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) ... Large – Feeds 4 Adults $234 for all 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) ..." There are so many variables that it's impossible to make an informed, economic choice. I'd rather just go to the store and buy things off the shelf, which thankfully you can do, unless people bought out all of what you wanted as a "pre-ordered meal service"... But all that aside, and the weird hours and not having bread every day, this place still deserves an A+. Their food (and wines!) are just that good. The best hot chocolate made to order, and the most incredible pumpkin pie (frozen; just thaw and eat) that I think I'm likely to ever try in town.

Very attractive, warm, welcoming, spacious and well-stocked store, with good service. It was my first time visiting, and now I see the reason for the hype, which is well deserved. There was a group of festive people enjoying a Saturday morning catch-up at a lovely large table in the centre, and I thought, "Good idea!" There were many freshly-baked yummies on offer, and it would be a great place to pause and enjoy with friends if you could snag a spot Alas, I was there to take away something frozen, and I chose very well. We thoroughly enjoyed the six-pack of scrumptious salmon cakes with lemon aioli at dinnertime, and would definitely return to Red Apron to select one of their many other house-made entrees. One- and two-serving sizes available in those, plus pies (their tortiere and turkey-pot sound divine), cheeses, desserts, you name it. In a word, Red Apron is fantastic!

My husband and I have been going to Red Apron (and recommending it to friends) for years. They make great, homemade nutritious meals. We don't use the meal service but always get frozen dinners there. Two weeks ago we discovered one of our bacon-wrapped chicken breasts was COMPLETELY RAW IN THE MIDDLE. When my husband took it back to the store, he got a "that's interesting" from the cashier - not even an apology!!! On top of that, no store manager or chef even came to speak to him. After returning home and writing an email to them to follow up, he got one of the most inconsiderate and frustrating responses I've ever seen. We have spent thousands of dollars with you over the years - how dare you tell us that somehow raw chicken is not a big deal and is somehow our problem. Own up to your mistakes instead of blaming the customer. I haven't been this angry in a long time.

We have bought a lot of their meals. Some of the meals are great. But many of them taste merely like a cooked ingredient that you may use as part of another recipe. For instance, we got their roast chicken and it was a plain cooked piece of meat with no other flavour. It was cooked well and tender but I couldn't even finish my dish it was so bland. I will use the chicken to make something more tasty. They are in love with zucchini for some reason but it is also very plain in its preparation. Also would be well used as an ingredient in another dish. Some would be well convinced, if they bought a lot of meals here, that healthy food isn't tasty. We all know that to be false but Red Apron really has to pick it up a few notches in this regard. Desserts are good but my hubby would disagree. Their panacotta is to die for. I really love their salads.

I like to host. Before the ongoing nightmare of COVID, we used to host friends to watch Sunday football, or DnD parties, or whatever. Our friends thought we were amazing hosts, because those parties often featured Red Apron food. Food that makes you look like you know what you are doing. Since we don't host anymore, we find Red Apron is a good way to escape the perpetual cycle of working from home, then staying home, and making boring dinners. Especially good for fall and winter, grab a Shepard's pie, or a braised beef pie. Your house will smell lovely, and you can pretend it's not the end times! Long story short-. The food is dope. A little expensive, but treat yo self.

I recently purchased the gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian chickpea curry for a friend coming for dinner with celiac disease. Due to her allergy she followed up with the red apron and learned that although the dish was labeled 'gluten free' they could not ensure that it was actually gluten free. As I was frustrated, I followed up with red apron who did state that although the meal is identified as 'gluten free' they could not guarantee that it was in fact free of gluten as it was produced in a kitchen containing gluten products. Red apron did not offer a refund for their fraudulent labeling, simply apologized.

Just got my first pre-prepaired food delivery and I am so happy! The food was so delicious and not at all spicy. The portions were huge, so I got a lot of food for my money. I can't cook much due to my disability and so far this has been the best pre-cooked food delivery place I have tried, by far. Thanks for providing me with healthy food. It truly is a life changer. I also love that there is very little plastic and the containers can be sent to a services that cleans and reuses them.

A life line to young families and fast moving professionals. Locally connected and community orientated. Since 2020 Red Apron has expanded its operations, food and Ontario craft beverage line up. The food is delicious and the lunch counter is excellent, featuring sandwiches soups and baked goods. Great options for take home or dine in. Visit Red Apron in patio season for a morning coffee or happy hour. Red Apron is well run, environmentally responsible and women owned. Worth the trip.

Lately I have found the quality of their frozen foods has gone down. We recently purchased a couple of dinner entrees consisting of a meat in an accompanying sauce, along with a side of rice (both supposed to serve two people). Both times the meat portion turned out to inadequate for two people and there was barely any sauce to accompany the hefty pile of rice. Not really sure the quantity and quality of the food justifies the premium price you pay there anymore.

Disappointing! :( The place presents well nice decor, and friendly staff, but the food wasn't up to snuff. I had the thai tofu / peanut etc bowl which tasted like reheated food in the microwave... because that's what it was :( Served too hot / heated unevenly, and lacking in flavour. For almost $11 I expected something 'fresher' than what I got. I'm used to the yummy goodies at green door or Wild oat for example. Hopefully they can improve - shows promise

I discovered this place about a year ago by the suggestion of a friend. I love the single portion pre-made meals. It's a perfect solution for a busy single person who either doesn't have time to cook, or finds it difficult to create healthy meals for one. They also have a great selection of soups, hummus, dips, ready-to-bake cookies, etc. I get a majority of my meals from here now; I'll never eat fast food again! Check it out if you have a chance.

A very good selection of premade food. It's well organized by serving number making it easy to find the right sized dish. We've tried 5 different dishes and they've all been quite good. It's (obviously) more expensive than cooking for yourself, but not by a lot. Once you factor in the cost of all the various ingredients needed to make specific dishes, it's quite affordable. Extra credit for reusable/returnable packaging!

The variety was great, meals were well displayed and easy to find, the staff was friendly, the store was really nice and clean, and there was plenty of parking. My only surprise was that some prices were higher than I initially expected, but upon reflection, these are prepared meals... So I think their pricing is ok. I am looking forward to heating up my meals and trying them out over the next couple weeks

I love the great selection of prepared meals. Much less salt and preservatives than what you get in frozen meals at grocery store. The butternut squash ravioli with arugula, leeks, yams and mushrooms in a sage cream sauce is one of my new favourites. Great selection of cheesses, crackers and other products too, which are great for the holiday season. The staff are so helpful and friendly too.

The single best place in Ottawa to get an amazing home-cooked meal that you didn't cook yourself. They use only the highest quality ingredients in their meals, and whenever possibly they source them locally. These meals are delicious, healthy, fast, and much cheaper than you could possibly make for yourself cooking for two. The staff is friendly and helpful - don't be afraid to ask questions!

I’ve never eaten here but I get their pre-made dinners and all of those that I’ve had are delicious. The salmon cakes are my favourites. Everything comes with instructions for cooking and staff are always happy to help if you have questions. The quality is excellent and the prices seem comparable to other places around but it’s probably not a good match for those on a tight budget.

We used this service on previous occasions and were not disappointed. We decided to use them again for a special event. Food was delicious, fresh and excellent quality that did not disappoint! We would highly recommend this company as reliable, dependable and delivered to what they promised. We found their prices fair, relative to the quality of food we received.

A good selection of frozen and unfrozen meals. The meals are made for 2 and are about $10 a serving. They also have a good selection of soups. My only complaint is that the meals and the soups are rather bland and need some spices to get the full flavour. While making up our minds on which meal to get we tried excellent scones and muffins with delicious coffee.

Healthy options place, not all of food are organic but they do use organic ingredients. Variety of everything and mostly salads which I love. They use a very super fresh vegetables which I saw it and photo it. Love the freshness and the taste of my food. First time but not last. Highly recommended if you searching for something special, fresh, and healthy.

Nut-free Carrot cake: terrible Buffalo wings: very good Frozen chicken burritos: so very bland, I don’t even think there’s salt, let alone Mexican spices Duck leg with leek risotto: very good Salmon with walnut topping: pretty good, a bit bland Salmon with teryaki and rice bowl: Yum! Butternut squash ravioli in sage cream sauce: tasteless, bland.

I've been trying different places around work for lunch, and I keep coming back to this one. You can tell the owners and staff here really care about what they do. The food is delicious, fresh and I love that a lot of what they use is locally sourced. Try the Grilled Patty Melt, offered on Fridays. I just finished eating it and want another.

We purchased the Christmas turkey dinner this year from Red Apron (tried others in the past). This one is the best - beautifully rosemary flavored turkey and vegetables; excellent sweet and white potatoes mashed and the dressing pleased even the people who don't like dressing. We will do this again and also try their in-store frozen meals.

I always come here to get a quick bite. Whether that's a power cookie, muffin, or one of their daily lunch sandwiches you really can't go wrong. The staff are very friendly and outgoing. I really love the layout. There's lots of room for sitting down and chatting. Great spot in the hood. I personally love the roast beef sandwich.

My experience with them was unforgettable, they helped me with so many stuff and I'm so grateful for them, the staff are affectionate and they will treat you like family, if I ever wanted to go back to the kitchen and cook I'd definitely come back here! A beautiful gem of a space, excellent coffee, delicious sandwiches, dessert treats. Wonderful spot, to pick up quick "à emporter" dinners, nice wine or get catering for any upcoming events- highly recommend! Need a special gift for a culinary connoisseur? This is the place! Parking and also door entrance is accessible!

Seems like a very clean store, looks a bit like a restaurant from the outside with the big dining area on their patio. Many items to choose from that are frozen. Does have some baked goods on side and also coffee. We purchased their breakfast wrap and it was just right to start our morning. Would suggest trying it out!

Amazing place! Staff is always friendly and helpful, products are all unique and things I've not seen elsewhere, best of all is the pre-made meals! I highly recommend people try it out, even if you're not vegan or vegetarian or on a gluten/dairy free diet you will surely find something delicious and made with love!

The Joy of NOT Cooking. ... I've learned joy from Red Apron cookery. So many years I spent in the kitchen, to learn that I've underappreciated NOT cooking. All those mouths that needed feeding, and now there's only mine!! I love NOT-COOKING- and EATING delicious food from the Red Apron. I feel so lucky.

I discovered this place about seven years ago when my daughter started university at UOttawa! We wanted food that was healthy and convenient! My daughter has since graduated and now works in Ottawa. Every time we visit her we stock up on their frozen food to take back to Toronto! Our favs? All of them!

Fresh or frozen dinners, I particularly like the dinner in a bag idea, always tasty, everything is fresh and it smells great in the oven heating. They also have amazing desserts, and should mention their "lunch window" with daily sandwiches, salads and protein bowls. It is definitely worth a visit.

I was in there for the first time and was very disturbed that none of the employees were wearing masks. Like ZERO. None of the people in the kitchen, or the lady at the food bar or even the cashier. I will add that there is no barrier at the food bar, so you can't claim you are behind any barrier.

Red Apron is exceptional. The quality of their food is always extremely high and I have never had anything I didn't enjoy from them. They have a lot of great veggie items and their scones are one of my favourites. I have allergies and they are very helpful to find alternatives to accomodate me.

Great take home dinners. The kitchen really knows how to pump up delicious and nutritions meals. The breads as well are are incredibly delicious. A very eclectic mix of different food products on their floor from artisan honey to coffee. Highly recommended place for quick nutritious lunch.

We got food for Christmas dinner and it was pretty good. My Mumz loved it..pasta, and chicken burritos and quinoa.. 3 different dishes, the only thang. I found 1 sraff member not 2 b happy wit her job. Myb she was having a bad day..juz found her 2 be rude. It wasnt busy on Wed..god bless

I went here for lunch and had one of the salads that was served warm. I wanted to try the soup but they were out. The atmosphere is warm and the staff are friendly. I am definitely going to try the lasagna the next time. The only thing that is not great is they only have street parking.

When ever you are caught and you do not have the time to cook or you have a friend who is sick you can buy frozen meals to help. The taste are amazing I personally live the southwestern salad, their sandwiches are to die for. The deserts when you look at them you want to try them all.

Really looking forward to coming back for a meal. I was at True Loaf Bakery across the street on Gladstone and finally made it my mission to visit the Red Apron. Really good coffee and scone. I just wasn't hungry enough for a meal. Love the vibe of the place. Coming back real soon.

Ok I’m hooked. Just moved into the area and I’m so excited to have this around the corner. Got their GF shepherd’s pie for dinner. Real shredded beef, not ground beef. Delicious. I ate the whole thing after a long day at work. EDIT: I just got the Enchilada. Equally excellent!!

Delicious sandwiches and meals to go. And lots of other goodies. Tried the beef stew and the brownie from the frozen section this week - awesome! Just wish they would still be offering loaves of bread; it was great to be able pick up all that is needed for a meal in one place.

Visit in a old feb snow day. This place has amazing cooked food, frozen in single or double portion to take home like mum’s kitchen. Can sit down have a coffee, lunch or breakfast. A lot of choices include desert. Nice and comfortable sitting. Great for breakfast.

I hate to say it ..but quality and taste has gone down for us. Been frequenting Red Apron for at least 10 years (or so) been disappointed now more than liking. Sorry.....I'm sad that I have to do this but it is too many times now we are disappointed by the food.

Wow, just wow. A great place for fresh in-house meals. Such an extensive list of choices of wholesome eats to enjoy on the spot or even at home. It's wall-to-wall fridges full of pre-made meals will not disappoint. Super friendly staff as well. Love this place!

Well run food service...quality produce...tasty and healthy dishes great for singles, couples, seniors and variety of tastes and cultures. Reasonably priced. Parking is resigned to the street...not always convenient for those living outside the neighborhood.

Was recommended by my daughter, so I took her word for it. Bought soup which was delicious but the prepared meals were utterly disgusting. I wasted 347$ on garbage. What a disappointment... I believe I will stick with the Green Door restaurant.

Good service, nice selection, pricing of frozen meals is good. Some prices for other foods are a bit higher than you will find in other stores. I noticed some items were very close to their expiration dates. Still very much worth visiting.

I always grab a coffee... coffee is a coffee but the amazing customer service (everyone greets you with a smile and they show that they are happy to see you and they love what they do) brings another taste to the coffee. always clean .

Red Apron has fantastic take-out meals, but frozen and fresh. Plenty of gluten-free and dairy free options too. The new location (still on Gladstone) looks amazing; much more space inside and plenty of parking. Plus, a patio!

Ordered Christmas dinner here and was not disappointed. Food was fantastic, easy to heat up and serve. Pickup was a breeze even in bad weather. The place was clean and staff were very helpful and organized. Will be back!

Customer service needs improvement. Store has changed location and it is currently closed until June 29th. However, they decided not to update this information on Google which creates confusion among loyal customers.

The Best gourmet store in the region , if not on all Canada. The food is consistently top notch as is the service. The extraordinary selection of meal options simply makes you want to come back and discover more!

Lovely spot, I went for lunch with a colleague. They have a rotating daily menu, will keep things exciting when I go back. Had a delicious spicy chicken sandwich, and staff were extremely friendly. Will be back.

I love designing kitchens, and I love cooking, but when I dont feel like it, or when I am too tired, I always have some Red Apron meals on hand to make sure I get a great meal will little or no effort!

Have given Red Apron home delivered meals to others and have received them myself. The food is delicious, portions are generous, meals have easy clear prep instructions. A nice treat. I recommend.

Nearly every week our family gets pre-made meals that are easy to heat up, delivered to our door and we are so grateful for the convenience and fabulous, devious meals (with desserts on Thursday!)

Simply the best berry pies in town. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. You can eat in or take out. Some times of day parking can be a challenge, though they do have a few spaces at the back.
