The Not So “Royal experience”. We visited the Royal last night after it being recommended to us, it had been many years since our last visit, and sadly we won’t go back after last nights experience. We had a table of 12 with 2 young kids and 2 international guests visiting us. We were sat directly in front of the kitchen and walkway to somewhere that had a constant flow of people brushing past us and staff lingering for food beside us. All 4 tables in that section were big tables of 10+ people, so it was extremely noisy, we couldn’t even hold a conversation which was very upsetting. Our booking was for 7, once everyone was seated with a drink we ordered entrees and mains around 7.30. The wait wasn’t too long but I would say by 8 we had our meals. However, they brought out all the food together, entrees were dumped on the table with our main meals at once. My main meal was missing, by the time I got it most guests had finished eating. Kids meals were horribly over priced! $16 for 6 cheap frozen nuggets and chips. Once they cleared the plates, we went up to order kids ice cream, around 8.50 pm I asked for just a single serve of ice cream as they were little and I didn’t want to pay $15x2 for their dessert option being ice cream with sprinkles and fairy floss. They were obliging and only charged $10 for 2 basic ice creams. Minutes later 8.55pm our German guests went to order desserts for the table as they wanted to shout us all desert as a thank you for hosting them for the past few days, and they were told “Sorry kitchens closed”!! No warning from any waiters prior, and we had only just finished our meals as mine was forgotten. I was so shocked, I asked what appeared to be the manager why we weren’t advised kitchen was closing and why he took my kids ice cream order but minutes later not an adult order. He apologised and said kitchen closes at 8.30 for mains but desserts usually stay open for much longer, and he wasn’t sure why we were refused a dessert order and why the kitchen closed desserts without notice. He refunded my kids ice cream cost, and we all walked up the road to buy ice creams for dessert. Upon leaving we saw the front half of the restaurant both sides was basically empty all night and was nice and quiet! This is were us as a family trying to enjoy dinner together and actually hold a conversation and be able to hear could have sat! Not in a noisy loud beer hall environment. The food was nice, we enjoyed what we ate, it wasn’t cheap and the portions for mains were very small. We are thin to average build people, but after eating mains we were all saying we were still hungry… but refused desserts. The 1 star is for the taste of the food only. Going out to dinner isn’t just about the food, it’s about the enjoyment of the experience and having a nice evening together. For last nights experience for which the manager even said was a “shambles” to me, we give it a minus 5 stars. We left very disappointed, sore ears from the noise, hungry and very annoyed, it was a relief to walk out. The ice cream up the road was delicious

Disappointing and expensive. The service stops the moment you’re seated at your table. Multiple staff walking around with little to nothing to do however you have to order your food and drink via an app or spend half your time at the bar making your orders. Charging approx. $40 for a main meal that you have to line up for half your seating time to order or via an app is beyond ridiculous. If you want to be a pub that is a “counter meal style” ordering system then you can’t charge $40+ for mains when you have The Rocks and 400 Gradi around the corner offering your a 5 star service for the same money. Not to mention charging $23 for a pre mixed espresso martini that you “ran out of” when you have a coffee machine right next to you?! Asking staff what seafood is in the spaghetti only to be told “I think there’s muscles” and then inconveniencing her to find out the answer. Then you have the RSL style food service where my partners finished main meal was removed from the table and replaced with dessert whilst my father in-law and I are still eating our mains. A dessert that we didn’t order mind you and had to send back. Terrible service, food was good however seriously overpriced, drinks beyond pathetic and overpriced, I make better cocktails at home. Been here plenty of times over the years however since covid this place really needs to look up what hospitality is all about. Won’t be returning.

We had a table of 6 for a double 60th birthday lunch shouted for by my gorgeous Bro & sister-in-law today 02.09.2023 at Walters Dining Hall - Asian style menu. We chose the Feed Me Menu for $69 pp - amazing value & such damn fine food. I chose a bottle of Mt Canobolas (Orange NSW region) sparkling from the Bistro wine menu - the Dining Hall wine menu had very limited selection. It was very happily arranged by our excellent servers with exquisite glasses & was a good value drop at $57 per bottle. The boys had a Sapporo beer schooner. Course after course just kept arriving, but at the right pace & timing by the most efficient & pleasant serving staff I have experienced in years!! - that is a fact & very unusual anywhere in the world to get this world class service - boy were we were impressed - they were lovely people with a smile & nothing was a problem bringing extra bowls & cutlery - beautifully prepared & cooked in house you could tell - congrats to the kitchen team this is first class all the way in a lovely room with ambiance - away from the bustle of the bistro but still a view of the bay. We sat at the normal level table. If I could give it 10/5 I would! Just get there. Mornington seriously needed this to appear! Cheers

We booked a party of eight for our sons birthday. The venue was packed however the staff made us feel welcomed immediately. We were not the best customers to have, after leaving the cocktail lounge to be seated at our table, my son accidentally knocked the whole jar of chilli on the floor! I Three of us were vegans ordering a set meal not designed for vegans. The chef stepped up to the mark and created superb delicious vegan cuisine and came out to check we were satisfied. Upon leaving one of our confetti filled birthday balloons caught on something sharp popping the balloon and exploding confetti everywhere to our dismay. The staff were so professional and never drew attention to the embarrassing incident what so ever. We cannot recommend the venue highly enough, staff were attentive throughout the meal and made the birthday boy feel special. The food was a delicious feast, we shall not only return but tell all our friends about our wonderful evening at Walters! Thank you to everyone who made our birthday party so very special!

Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience at the Royal Hotel over the weekend. We arrived for an early dinner at 5.30pm and had pre booked a table. Although the bistro inside was practically empty, we stood waiting to be seated for 25 minutes. Every worker that saw us standing and waiting at the counter walked the opposite way when they saw us. Finally we were greeted (not in a friendly welcoming way by the waiter) and taken to our table. Ordering at the bar was then the next disappointment. Bar staff wouldn't serve you if you weren't standing in a specific line although there were no signs to advise where we should stand. Once being served, the staff were so unfriendly and rude. Not even a hi or a simple smile. By the time we had ordered and got some drinks, we had almost been at the venue for 45mins. The food once ordered arrived in a timely manor but was under whelming. It's such a shame as the pub is located in such a great spot, it was a warm evening and we were celebrating a special occasion. Had the staff bee a little more friendly the experience would have been a different one.

I don't write bad reviews but this time I have to leave my feedback. We came over and most of the tables were dirty. Around the tables rubbish laying around. Anyway, we took one table and moved the beer glasses to the side of the table. Staff is wandering around, leaving tables messy and no one bothers to clean them up until we asked. Also, asked the waiter to wipe the table as ants are running on it due to food left over. In addition, there was bird poo on the table as well. He came over with a dry tissue and swiped the ants. Left some spare and said if you see any more just swipe them away. Hence bird poo is still there. Nice! The food was not very good. The calamari was over-fried and had no flavor. When I decided to put some salt on the food the salt shaker was empty. Checked on other tables and found one which had some salt. Sadly that did not make my food taste better. My friends had their food which they did not enjoy at all. Prices are high and food does not meet quality.

We have been to this pub before and we wanted to revisit as we knew there is a good outdoor sitting area with umbrellas for shade and some lovely sea breezes coming in off the coast. We were looking to enjoy a long lunch and avoid a space with televisions because we didn't want to watch the grand final. The Royal was the perfect spot as the outdoor seating area on one side of the pub had televisions for those that wanted to watch the match but the area sat in on the other side had no TV which was fab. The staff of the hotel were friendly and very welcoming and flexible as we had originally booked in the bistro but they easily accommodated moving our booking to the garden area. The service was second to none, they were very busy but nothing was too much trouble . The indoor space looks really lovely too and would be a great spot in winter. Food was good and there was a great range of wines to choose from. All in all a perfect day out and we will be back soon!

New Years Eve 11pm we arrive after Main Street was like a sleepy town with not much open for a drink & a dance. To set the scene there was 3 of us women over 50 spending our first New Years Even on the peninsula. We head into the front dining room & bar to order a drink only to be told they are no longer serving drinks. We were sent down to the back where a band was playing (good band) and people were squeezed into this hot, not well ventilated low ceilinged room filled with very drunk people with no way of getting through the crowd to the bar and little motivation to enter this claustrophobic environment. Why did such a wonderful venue with several outdoor areas, the front veranda and dining rooms push people into a hot mosh pit! This made no sense. We existed the building and headed home. This was a very mixed message and a bad customer experience considering the venue and location. Who in the leadership team made this decision and was it made based on understanding who your customer is?

We sat down for lunch on Sat 8th of April. We were greeted with a sign that said 20% surcharge for public holidays with no warning, despite this we sat down and were in the formal dining area. Ordered at the bar for food and drinks, and the lovely young lady at the bar provided great service. All went down hill from there. Ordered entree, came out with no share plates so went and got my own. Needed more water, and went and got that too. We’re informed that someone had ordered at the QR code on our table and whether we ordered twice. We didn’t order from this QR code at all and someone was seated at our table at all times. Then I questioned if I was charged twice for someone else’s order and was told not to worry and completely dismissed when I asked questions and was laughed at. Food was overpriced, steak was over cooked, and for what you pay, I expected more. In summary, no service with overpriced food. Plenty of better places to eat than here in Mornington.

A spur of the moment dinner with friends should have been fantastic but ordering on your phone is completely impersonal. Staff weren't very friendly or even that helpful once they were notified of a meal not being served to us. Being asked to see the email as proof of our order wasn't nice, infers we weren't being truthful. Their excuse that the system doesn't work well was pathetic at best, just proves that wait staff should come around after serving meals to make we all had our meals. The offer of one drink to fix their stuff up wasnt good enough especially when they had no clue on meal delivery, they only knew after we told them.......DULL is the word for the level of service, my partner was horrified by the price of drinks as well. I wouldn't recommend this place despite enjoying the food

We had the most amazing time at the Royal Hotel Mornington over two nights staying in the "King Room". Nick and his team could not have been more helpful! In fact, they spoilt us rotten including lots of extras. The food was 5 star, their Caesar salad was the best I have ever had. The view from our balcony had the most magical sunsets both evenings. This was a very special stay my husband and I are blessed with wonderful memories and will most certainly return for another important occasion. Thank you for our stay! A stunningly beautiful place to go.......but went for dinner there last night. The food was good even though cold as they missed a meal for one at our table of four making the rest of us wait for the missed meal. Also, I was horrified by the price of a 3 shot cocktail charging $13 a shot..... a total of $39.00..for ONE DRINK - 1 shot Coffee Liquer 2 shots Bailleys over ice! A VERY SIMPLE MIXER! Then, in the making, the young lady behind the bar spilt one of the shots on the bench top, just to top of the experience! I could have bought a Full Bottle of either liquor for that price . I WILL DEFINITELY THINK TWICE ABOUT GOING BACK! I REALLY DON'T LIKE BEING RIPPED OFF! OVERALL A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE!

What a great place for lunch! We arrived without a reservation but the staff quickly went about organising a newly vacated table for us. We then ordered using the QR code system which was super fast and really easy. We had the Vietnamese Chicken and Prawn Salad with Rice Noodles and the Barramundi with Chips and Salad (we chose the grilled option on the app as opposed to battered and fried). Both meals were absolutely delicious with the salad being a generous serve. Only issue we had was it would have been good to have maybe one more piece of Barramundi as that serve would not have been enough if we were not sharing our dishes. Other than that we had a great time here. They were really busy but the staff were still friendly and very helpful. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Significant drop in food quality and service. When the Royal has decided to change its menu to all day and introduces a 'pub' live band/disco room you know it's in trouble. Food orders were wrong and qr code ordering not working. The disabled toilet was not accessible as the door was not even standard door width and a male staff member had to remove the door so I could use it. A breach of human rights. Live music drowned out our table's conversation and so we left. I am wondering if the owners who took over a couple of years ago have sold up and left. Another Mornington dining venue that has decided to opt for mediocrity over quality. After my experience with the accessible bathroom door definitely won't be going back or recommending The Royal.

3stars all going to the food only! Was beautiful!! Ordering online wasn't pleasant. Since menu is devided from entries and mains we assumed when we placed the order that will come separately but instead came all together and we felt rushed to eat everything. It would of been nice if someone told us that we had to place separate order for each plate. Waitresses weren't rude but we didn't feel any interaction with them either. The place is beautiful but it felt like we ordered fancy uber eats but seating in restaurant and got it delivered by the waitress. Consider to what we spend,When we left none of the people working bothered to say thank you or goodnight. Very cold vibes.

Food was disgusting and a serious health hazard! Will never eat here again and suggest others don't. I ordered a chicken schnitzel which came out looking very unimpressive. Chicken crumbs were very well cooked on the outer layer. After eating a small amount I noticed chicken was raw! Cut further in to the middle to find completely uncooked, raw chicken! I returned it to the chef and was given no apology or explanation from him. A staff member approached and offered a refund. He apologised and explained the chicken was unfortunately not fully defrosted before eating! Now waiting to see if food poisoning kicks in. Do not eat here. Food is frozen, not fresh worst experience I have ever had.

We booked a party for eight people to celebrate our son’s birthday. The cocktail bar and restaurant was booked out, this did not mean we received anything less than five star service. We were not the best customers to have on a busy night. An accident of dropping the chilli oil to begin with, followed by mentioning we’d like the “feed me menu” but three are vegans and ending with accidentally popping a confetti balloon for staff to take care of! The service was excellent, food delicious and we couldn’t recommend it enough. We shall definitely be returning and we won’t bring balloons…….

Went to the royal 2 weeks ago on a Saturday. I didn't have a booking but there was enough room in the bistro area. We felt as though we were not welcomed at all. The young staff looked completely miserable, and the management seemed to not care about their staff or customers. I spoke to a manager about swapping my meal a few minutes after I ordered and they simply looked at me and rudely said "you'll have to pay more" which i was willing to do so. Iv'e been to the Royal a few times and have always loved going because of how nice the customer service is BUT there is clearly a shift in a management and you can sense how none of the younger staff DO NOT want to be there anymore. Will not be coming back.

We had dinner at The Royal last night and it was superb! New head chef didn’t disappoint, the barramundi was perfectly cooked, chips were crispy & hot, entrees were beautiful, service was great and I have always found the staff friendly, courteous and helpful. This is my fave pub to go for a meal or simply some sml morsels & a drink. The atmosphere is a very comfortable one and if you are lucky enough to go on a nice day there is plenty of seating outside. Yes there are a lot of youngsters out the front but for me I think it’s encouraging as we all had to start somewhere and you certainly get the feeling they are part of a pub ‘family’.

Whilst the food was good, the service was poor. It looked as though the lovely Staff were trying their best to cope with the restrictive systems & processes and with the bar as the location for Restaurant ordering, further confused both patrons and Staff. Fortunately the Manager acknowledged our frustrations resulting in our evering meal with friends, ending on a more positive note. Would we dine again? Yes we'll give it another go but if the Management were to have better systems for their staff to efficiently run the restaurant & bar simultaneously, with location, great food AND good service we'd be regulars and loyal to the Royal!

All aspects of The Royal Hotel are excellent so I was keen to experience the newly created Walter’s Dining Hall. I was not disappointed! The decor is unique and charming, the service from both the table staff member and the on-duty manager was friendly and professional. The food was exceptional. I don’t exaggerate when I write the best Asian Fusion dishes I’ve had in a very long time. I have already recommended Walter’s Dining Hall to friends and will definitely return. The venue is great, our table was good, enabling us to look out at the view. The food was OK, not brilliant, that was when we eventually got it. After waiting for about 45 minutes after odering and paying, we enquired, to discover that our order had not been sent to the kitchen. So, it was more than an hour's wait to finally get our lunch. We were all promised a free drink, but I don't drink and my partner had already had two and didn't want another. We made do with a free coffee. Next time we won't wait so long before enquiring.

not a good experience, the male manager with very untidy facial hair, was making me and my girlfriends very uncomfortable . Let’s just say was not looking at our eyes and making inappropriate comments about the way I dressed and same with my mates Found very disrespectful. + found him very very rude I didn’t get what I order + it was under cooked and I found a hair in the food that I had received which I wouldn’t be surprised if it was his facial hair!! Gross and disgusting He should not be working at this restaurant as he is not only rude to me and the other people around him! Not ok

Had a birthday party for 20 people inside - very easy to book the meals and drinks - all came out fairly quickly - good meals for everyone - I had the beef short rib - very nice, but not many choices for gluten free and they wouldn’t change/ modify any dishes - e.g no gf and df desserts. Anyway had a great time and staff were helpful and pleasant. Very relaxed which meant we could just enjoy ourselves without too much checking up with the staff. Warm day and felt bit warm inside at times but lovely to see the sea out the doors. Would go again - no problem.

Recommended by a friend and visited Walter's Dining Hall on a Thursday night to celebrate a birthday. Good vibe. Cocktails to start (why not?) and my Saigon Espresso with drips did not disappoint. The menu is designed to share and we enjoyed every dish (we had 6 to share cos we were feeling hungry - don't judge!) but the highlight were the Fried Prawn Rice Paper rolls followed by the Kingfish sashimi, green nam jim, coconut, and salmon pearls. Could not resist a delicious end to the night with Banana fritter, vanilla ice cream, and golden syrup - not shared! Will return.

I was lucky enough to come to The Royal and wasn't insanely hard to get a reservation. I'm so happy. One of my best restaurants in Mornington. Ambiance: Really impressed with the outdoor sittings and they give you red handband after checking your covid vaccination and then you can sit and enjoy the ambience of outdoor and in front is the beach.. Mock tails: watermelon mock tail really good! I liked there draught beer. Food: family style and delicious! The Chicken Pharma were one of my favorite items. Also the Royal Mezze: was really good. We really enjoyed everything. Overall amazing though and will be back!

Five of us had dinner on NYE and it was crazy! We couldn’t hear ourselves speak because of the loud music in the adjacent bar. We were given seats on a long table that seated twelve although we were the only ones on the table and we were right in front of the bar so constantly had people brushing past us to place their orders. Thank God we were close to an open door because it was stifling. We ordered two courses each and the second courses arrived while we were still eating the first! I must say all our meals were delicious but that was only the positive of the entire night!

  • Jasmine Mahon

Food was good but this order scanning at the table made for some scarce service. It was quiet night and we cleared our own dirty plates and glasses and the menus (post ordering) to nearby uncleared table after these things had sat on our table for 30 mins+. Staff wandered around in a bit of a daze. With the prices as they are, service needs to lift and a sharp eye to overlook diners was needed. On such a quiet night too, a hand with our bottle of wine and glasses from the bar to the table, or an offer to bring it over, would have been a nice touch.

Wow, what a let down. I was served food that I repeatedly told the wait staff I was allergic to. I also attempted to change my sons nappy whilst we were there for dinner with our family and to my surprise it was located in the back bar. Out pops a bunch of guys from bathroom (any guesses what they were doing) where the change table was located and they had ripped the toilet door off and placed it over the change table. What a terrible experience and so sad to see the Royal go down hill in so many ways.

Fifteen of us just finished my Mum’s 98th birthday lunch here. Shortly after we arrived my daughter needed to take some medication which needed a small amount of food. I asked the manager if it was possible to get a small piece of bread or a cracker that she could get quickly rather than waiting for all the meals to come. This is the reply I got: “That is rather problematic as the kitchen is busy and we’re not in the habit of giving away food” I was flabbergasted. I certainly won’t be coming back.

Went to the Royal Yesterday with 3 girlfriends for Lunch. All of our Main Courses were the size of an entree. I ordered the Prawn and Chicken Thai Salad which cost $ 36.00. ( size of a cereal bowl ), we also ordered a desert. Pavlova Smash was $ 18.00 and there was probably 5 tablespoons of desert. Very expensive for what we received, we all were not happy with the outrageous pricing. A little disappointing. The first time here, probably will go elsewhere in mornington.

Your website says Kitchen open until 9pm We tried to call to make a booking and no one answered the phone We thought well we will just go Arrived at 8.25 and they told us the kitchen was closed (There is now one menu which is available throughout the entire venue, 7 days a week, for lunch and dinner. The kitchen is open all day from midday to 9pm.) Very disappointing. … and as we were leaving the barman said “ have a nice night “ !!!!!!!!!!!! Plus no one checked us checking in and no one looked at our Covid Vaccine Certificate

Walter’s at the Royal-what an amazing addition to Mornington dining scene. The food is exceptional. Jungle chicken curry took us straight to Thailand so spicy and delicious. Everything we tasted was yummy. They were super accommodating with swapping out some dishes on the ‘feed me’ menu for our friends who had some preferences. Cocktails were also great and the vibe and decor also really cool. Can’t wait to come back to work through the menu:)

Terrible customer service, $16 for kids fish and chips that was basically a hand full of chips with what looks like a crab stick. $26 for an aperol out of a tap. $32 for a chicken salad that is basically a handful of lettuce leaves, pretty disappointing that the main pub in mornington charges more than anyone in town, but for no where near the service as others. The worst part is don’t bother asking management as you will get get little to no customer service

We had a work Christmas dinner for 13 people at Walter’s at the Royal Hotel. We pre ordered the 3 course feed me menu. I was able to alter one of the entree meals without any issue. Our meals came out after we ordered our first drinks and it didn’t stop. There was so much food that we requested take away containers. The food was of a high standard. Definitely will be going again. (Only one thing to request is maybe check for drinks more often)

I made a dinner booking online for a small group, and immediately called to cancel as I realised we had double booked. My card was charged $80. I made several phone calls only to be told my refund is declined. I then went to see the manager and explain, and was promised a follow up call the next day. I've received no call, have since tried to call and email and am still waiting on a response. Really disappointing service, spend your money elsewhere.

Amazing staff and FOOD!!! Was a fantastic evening, great vibes. The two sections between dining and bar/dancing was a great transition and managed accordingly to suit everyone's needs. The only feedback I could suggest is the QR ordering system was difficult for some of our guests. We got through it as its all new and people may need a little more support during these new aged times. Just used to the old fashion bar service. Highly recommend this venue!! We will back.

Decided as a local to support our local hotel today, took my 91year old mother and family for lunch. We had made a booking, well ,from the moment we arrived it was disastrous the service, the size of the meals, if you want good service don’t go there. I am so disappointed with this hotel as we haven’t been out for months and the six of us said there is much better places ,not to mention $224 later for what was disgusting?

Great atmosphere of the place, the staff were great and meals were served in a timely manner with great impression quickly leads to disappointment, the chicken parma that was ordered the "salad" which was just salad mix leafy greens was really lackluster, chicken was cooked perfect but was unfortunately overshadowed by the extremely salty sauce put on it, at least the chips were great though! Poor choice of kids menu as well with only options of nuggets or fish

The hotel and location is superb but eating dinner and competing with the noise of the band in the adjoining room at 7pm on Sunday evening is just not ok! What is going on here? One or the other !!!! Seafood pasta was nice but could have been larger (pasta is cheap!) and garlic was a little on the burnt side or Chinese garlic

Last minute decision to drive 45 minutes to go to the Tavern to see the Sunday afternoon band and have a meal. I would love to see the stage elevated or seating provided from the balcony above so you can actually see the band, rather than just all the dancers, and easily eat a meal. Not everyone wants to dance, some just go to watch. The 15 or so minutes we saw the band before our view was blocked was great. The food was okay.

Tried Walters dining hall on Saturday and was really pleased with our experience. The food was modern Asian and It did not disappoint. Enjoyed the kingfish sashimi (group favourite) and the crab omelette amongst others. Also had the Plum sour cocktail and the presentation and flavours were great. Service was professional and attentive. Great new addition to the Mornington Peninsula and can’t wait to return.

In the heart of Mornington and on the esplanade we had crumbed pork cutlet with coleslaw for lunch. We were amazed at the tenderness of the pork and not oily as you would expect of a crumbed cutlet. The slaw was finely shredded making it a perfect match. Our compliments to the Chef

I grew up going to the Royal and it was always my favorite pub but then they went downhill (10 or so years ago) now with the new (they've been there a few years now) owners I'm glad to say my favourite pub is back but 1000% better. The decor is revamped and very tasteful. Staff are great, always happy and helpful. Most importantly the food is amazing, I've never had a bad meal there and the wine list is great. Best pub on the Peninsula.

The royal hotel is a beautiful old building in the perfect location overlooking the beach. The veranda looks over the water if you like the fresh air. The inside is just as nice in the high ceiling and well kept building. The food is delicious and the service was friendly. We will absolutele be coming back.

service was not good...drinks took over 40 minutes to arrive and had to complain twice. Manager in charge was a no-show and by the time the drinks arrived we had finished our entrees. Food was not a good standard. The marinara was bland with poorly presented seafood. My nervous told me this was the best pub in the area abd they were appalled with the poor service.

We enjoyed a very delicious shared banquet at Walters dining hall. Lots of tasty dishes, some things we've never eaten before. The new decor is really terrific, more interesting than the old style dining room from before. The wait staff were wonderful, taking very good care of all the diners.

Wildly inconsistent service. Sometimes very efficient and friendly, other nights you have to remind waiters that main meals need cutlery & chase up missing items from your order. No easy way of telling what level of service you are likely to receive until you're in the middle of it. Really hoping that it it ever achieves a consistent level of service that they choose to make it good rather than the other kind.

Thank you so much for always making us feel so special with your personalised service . All the room service food is scrumptious: seafood / meat dish / herb bread…, very delicious dessert (apple crumble)

Lovely atmosphere. Not noisy. Plenty of friendly young attentive staff. Menu unremarkable but the special seafood pie was tasty. BIG shout out to the kitchen, the chips which are standard accompaniment with many of the meals were beyond terrible. Dry, stale tasting, so disappointing. Should be the hero in a pub . Easy to fix i I imagine. Everything else was very good.

Look you guys have a great location, beautiful old building but honestly, you charge $17 for a pint of Balter then additional 32c for who knows what “charges”, $12 a Schooner of local pale Ale. You guys are taking people for a ride. To top it ordered a Peroni and waitress hands it over saying sorry I don’t have a bottle opener, it’s a bar! What a shame it’s such a disappointment.

We have always loved the ambience and food at The Royal Hotel and were really excited to try out, Walters Dining when it opened. After having been expats in Singapore for twelve years, we felt very nostalgic dining here. The food and exquisite cocktails were top notch and I adore the vibe of the bar area. Really fun place to bring friends, and I love the music aspect too. Our new local fave!

  • Murray Stevens

Staff never explained the difference in the ordering platforms. This was a business lunch, but as the venue doesn’t supply receipts when using the QR code at the table, I had to contact a 3 party company to be sent what I needed. My guests heard the table next door have the same issue. Meals good but overpriced a little. Great venue but bad staff.

Underwhelming experience. Dined at The Royal on Tuesday night in a large group for a celebratory dinner and it was nothing short of a disappointment. Extremely unwelcoming environment, staff waitressing was beyond average and super inexperienced. Food was also average and nothing exciting and way too over priced. $27 for two pieces of small fish and chips.... will not be returning

Beautiful rooms, great staff and immaculately clean. Generators appear to be attached to the wall outside which made sleep impossible. By 9am they were so loud that the entire room shook! That chandelier was holding on for its dear life. Not the beach adjacent serenity we were anticipating - nor sold.

Went in for lunch with a group of us the weekend of New Years and couldn't be more impressed. The place was full and we were seated near the kitchen, to watch how smooth and well it ran was something to behold. Our meals came out quick and were incredible. I'll definitely be back and i would recommend anyone else to come here, because the Chefs and all of the staff were amazing.

  • Caitlyn Kap

Can only comment on the food. Won’t be back. $15 for a small bowl of wedges. What a joke. And the staff forgot I ordered a coffee ($5!) and we were ready to leave. Barely a sorry was said as she handed me $5 cash refund. Staff are useless. Food is way overpriced. So sad cause it’s such a great spot and building.

Loved the food, decor, hospitality, it is a new addition to The Royal in Mornington. Would highly recommend a visit.

Great location and view, can’t fit a suitcase in the room (leave it the car), if the $53 scotch fillet was any thinner it’d be a minute steak and the DJ rattled your teeth in the dining room. Not a traveller’s experience but great pub for a 21 year old local!

Terrible food. The steak was the worst cut of meat I have ever purchased, in my life. The chips tasted like oven chips and the peppercorn sauce just tasted like salty water. Don’t bother with this place unless you really have to. They could also do with trying less but better when it comes to staff.

What a great experience is Walter’s . The place was buzzing and the Service, Asian Fusion menu, Cocktails and Music all come together to create a fabulous experience and vibe. Will definitely be back even if just to sit at the bar to enjoy the ambiance! Well done to the RH team.

Terrible parma, overpriced food. The parma was disappointing and for $30 you would expect something that wasnt soggy. I thought the condiment was my salad dressing but low and behold it was gravy! Wish i took a photo. Our meals came out roughly 10 minutes apart rather than together.

  • Ang33 Shelley

Spent our wedding night in the suite upstairs which was very olde world. It was gorgeous. The meals are always so much better than you would expect a pub meal to be. Nothing better than sitting on the front porch with a glass of bubbles looking out over the water on a sunny day.

Not a bad feed. The service and food was very quick. The seafood was all very overcooked. The drinks options were a little bit lacking if you are after a nice scotch or bourbon. Other than this, the food was good and and wine selection was not bad at all. Good night out
