Honest review: This is my first time at this store but I’m a thrift store regular. I’m not a reseller. My entire family wears thrift store clothing. This store doesn’t deserve your hard earned money until they change a few things. 1. They staple price tags to the front of all clothing—a literal metal office staple. They don’t even attempt to get the tag or the collar, or the back—everything has a stapled tag on the front causing two visible little holes. I passed on a bunch of women's items because of this. This damages many fabrics and holes get larger with wear and washing. This is an ABSURD policy. Pure laziness. 2. You really have to dig for stuff that doesn’t have holes, stains, pilling, tears, deodorant stains, extremely faded, missing buttons or is smelly. Most items look like they’ve been worn into the ground. Lots of very small or very large sizes. Very few middle sizes. Really disappointing. 3. Nothing is divided into sizes. It’s all done by color. I don’t have time for this. 4. As everyone else has said, their prices are ridiculous for the quality. Even on 50% off day (Wed), the prices are still too high for items that come with staple holes in them. If I’m going to pay these prices, I’ll go somewhere where they don’t use a stapler or put out literal dumpster clothing. I ended up buying a few knock-around shirts for my toddler knowing he’ll destroy them anyway, but I passed on anything for myself and won’t return to this store until they change the insane stapled tags. 2 stars for friendly employees and quick checkout.
Sometimes they have good deals. I like shopping here but it could do without the rude people who work there. We had went not to long ago and went to check out, the tag fell off one of the items we were going to purchase and the rude younger lady w/ short hair yelled to the manger to look at the tag and the item, the manager automatically said that the tag didn’t belong to the item when it had just fallen off. But we had to fight with them about that till finally they said fine. I really dislike the no tag policy like if the items there are brand new. Give me a break! Lol so make sure the tag on all your items are on there good. Also the employees/manager can be more friendly instead they are impolite and chasing people around the store like they are stealing.
I like this particular Salvation Army because it's very big. I also like the fact that they color code their clothing. Everything was half off today which was really great. Also they're not sticklers for dressing rooms and how many items you can bring in and out and I like that about them. You can shop in peace and no one really bothers you. They have a really good selection of books and a lot of them are new. Recently also I've noticed that they are bringing more shoes in as well as luggage, purses and they have a good selection of furniture. I try to go here at least twice a month. You'll always find something different and they have a lot of quality clothing especially if you're working in an office atmosphere. You really can't go wrong with this place.
Love this store. Not only is it extremely clean and well organized but the workers are friendly. I moved to San Antonio about a year ago and I only shop at thrift stores. This Salvation Army is my favorite. They have an incredible variety of items , basically everything you need for your house or your wardrobe. I'm especially impressed with Teri the manager who always has a smile and from what I've seen, answers every question from a customer with thought and kindness.. Just glad the store exists. Salvation Army is a wonderful organization and these stores have the most incredible sales. I recommend it as a go-to before you go shopping for big items. They have everything from furniture to books and clothing.
Getting there earlier, the door was open, having the whole family inside. They waited to say something until everyone is saying store ain’t open with a attitude. Btw we were like a few minutes early. Then we waited in like for a few mins when the manger knew we were there and kept everyone from helping us until she finished talking. Like they didn’t say anything to us, they saw us but that was it. Like one person could do register while she talks to everyone else. Then later tell that one person. Besides that we asked if they were done, for the manager to do some ugly hand gesture towards our direction with her back to us.
This experience was absolutely ridiculous. While trying on a jacket, it appears that the tag came off in the changing room. However, when I tried to purchase the jacket, the store staff informed me that I couldn’t buy it without a tag. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer any alternative solutions such as pricing it on the spot. I was left with no options or assistance. It’s frustrating to think why they would staple the tags if they can come off so easily. It would be more practical to use a price tag hook like what I’ve seen at goodwill.
I find the best of the best things here at this store. So much so, that I come at least twice a week. As an avid thrift shopper, this store is definitely my number one spot to shop if you want quality items along with unbeatable prices. Unlike thrift stores like Texas Thrift, who overprice their items more often than not, the Salvation Army Family Store always keep their prices fair which is extremely important for those of us who try to save every penny. 2 thumbs up for this place. A must go.
I wish I could give a negative. One star is too much. This place is a rip off. I was overcharged. They gave me a handwritten credit for $55. When I attempted to use the credit I wad told no. They said that I could not usevit on a discount day. I was overcharged on a discount day. So I would have to pay double to use the credit. That is not a credit. I have spent $200 a week there as a resller. Never again!
Everything is priced as if it were new when there are clear defects. I added photos to help you understand just how bad it is, for the furniture at least. The clothing is separated by color, you have to dig through everything to see if they have your size. This is very inconvenient. Very drab environment, no smiles, no music. Not a lot of kids toys, just something I noticed.
They continue to close earlier than what is stated on the door with more than 20 guests inside the building with some whom have carts full. The Hispanic heavier set kid at the register closed the drawers 40 min early. Which is ridiculous, some of us work 8-4pm jobs and unwind by thrifting for y’all to close the drawers early is ridiculous! Won’t be returning.
Prices!! If a tag accidentally falls off even if it happens at the register while the employee grabs it they can’t sell it. I had 2 other items that were same brand, condition, style and even the same size with the exact price but because tag came off couldn’t sell it. Their clothing prices are ridiculous!!
I went here based on reviews and glad I did. They have an amazing selection, well kept store, and excellent prices. I bought James Avery, Kate Spade, Justice, Lucky Brand, and other name brands here. Loved how friendly the staff was. I will be a returning customer even though its a 45 min drive! Di
My sister made a purchase for 15.00 on Saturday 6/24/2023 and then today she got a updated transaction amount for 30 when sje returned to the store they said they could onyl give her store credit. She was illegally cheged this was a unauthorized transaction amd they wont do anything about it
Shopping at Salvation Army was such a pleasant experience. The soft Christian music made it so pleasant and peaceful to shop it wasn't loud or over blaring like other stores. And prices were awesome. I went to Goodwill and it was so unbelievably sky-high & ridiculously priced.
They always have great furniture in pique condition. Clothing selection is great. Not much selection in the electronic dept. but that's not a deal breaker for me. I'm always looking for awesome clothes for a great deal. If you are too then I'll probably see you here!
I love this place❗️ I've found some of the best merchandise much better than brand newstuff ; jewelry, formal dresses, furniture and much more. It's always a joy and excitement to visit, most staff are good and kind It is well organized. …
75% of the clothes in the plus size section were winter items. The was a very limited selection of shoes. This store is located in the Helotes area which I thought would influence the quality of merchandise available. Unfortunately that theory didn't hold true.
Some "Brick and brac" are marked pricey. Ex. mugs & glassware, decor, are starting 2.99- 3.99 & up. -Some art pieces are reasonably priced 5.99 & up. -Ladies top & bottoms 6.99 & up. ☆☆☆Every WEDNESDAYS IS half of Clothing & Shoes!!☆☆☆ Not much in Jewelry.
They don't organize clothes by size, just by style and color. So you have to go through every piece, find something you like, only to be disappointed because it won't fit. Looked through most of the womens clothes and left empty handed, won't be back.
A few items here are completely overpriced. Most "thrist" stores are going overboard in their pricing. I always go to look for small items that I need at a very cheap price. I always seem to have luck here. The staff is always helpful and
The prices on shirts are too high!!! These are no name used shirts and they $6.99. You shouldn't have to wait until they are half off to get a decent deal. I should walk in that very day and get these shirts for about $2.99 or less. These
This is the cleanest & nicest thrift store I've found since living in San Antonio. The manager introduced himself (Jessie), and explained that they do frequent markdowns of furniture, and offered his help in any way. When I mentioned that
Don’t shop here. Not worth the money. I can get better items at Walmart or Target, and cheaper. What makes me angry is that I have donated items, as hundreds of others have done, only to find them way over priced. The cost of clothes is
Bad, Bad, experience this should be minus 5 stars. Customer service is good. The one thing that made me give one star is the stupid rule that says if an item does not have a price tag, it must not be sold. We were buying a lot of items
I wouldn't really call it a thrift store because I go to thrift stores to save money. The men's shirts are 7 dollars and the brands are like George, Merona, Van Heusen, Ect . Why would these shirts not be a few bucks?
Pros: Great Prices, They have Fitting rooms, & they have a great selection of items Cons: (ONLY ONE) Items are not sized which makes it harder to find what fits
Was packed because it was Wednesday. They have 50% off of clothes and shoes. Well maintained though:) Parking was difficult because it was so packed.
My 3 kids go crazy here! They can fill a cart with whatever clothes they like and it costs me something like $25-$35! I love it & they have fun!
People complaining about being charged twice it aint the store stop using cash app and you wont get charged twice lol …
