Would have given 5 stars, but the visit this morning, Thursday, May 16, was not nearly as superb as our visit on Tuesday, the morning of the 14th. Tuesday the eggs were sublime, creamy and moist; the sliced mushroom topping had a freshness and fullness to it; the herb and onion scone was oven fresh, flaky, and crispy. So, Tuesday was a solid and definite 10! (I was told "Cameron" was cooking, check before you go and make sure he's there. He really seemed to enjoy what he was doing, always smiling and energetic.) Thursday, was a 5, at best ☹️. The eggs were overcooked, twice; the mushroom topping looked like it had been tortured; the cold, heavy, scone tasted at least a day old. I had to ask for it to be reheated, they did, without even offering me a fresh one. I was heartbroken after my earlier, stellar, experience. (I was told who was cooking this morning, but I won't name her. I watched her over cooking every portion of scrambled eggs, with little expression, and low energy, she just didn't seem to enjoy her work, and my meal suffered.) I noticed that there were more than a few plates left with scrambled eggs on them (unlike Tuesday morning). Scrambled eggs might seem easy to make, but it actually takes attention and care, like Cameron's, to create light, creamy, melt in your mouth eggs that prompt rave reviews and make travellers come back a second time in one week. I'm not sure whose fault the stone cold, day old tasting scone was .
So if I am being really honest, overall the food was okay, it may have even been good, but they way we were treated and the level of customer service we received really took away from us enjoying the meal. 8 of us visited this weekend, 4 kids, 4 adults, as soon we entered the store, we could tell from their obvious expressions that they were not happy to see a huge party (which I don't understand, as it is a self serve restaurant basically once you place the order). We self arranged the 8 chairs (which is expected as it is not a formal restaurant), but then the lady behind the counter yelled out loud and not politely at all, that we were blocking the washroom. So we moved the tables, after which we proceeded to place our order, the total for all of us came over $100, so we spent good money brunching at this place. Once we recieved the meals, one thing was left out, so we asked one of the servers behind the counter that if the smoked salmon was still coming, to which he didn't respond at first and then after we asked for the second time, replied as if he was irritated. I definitely won't be returning again, we were excited to try it out at first as my friend that we came along, really enjoyed her meal there the last time she visited Ottawa over the summer. It's unfortunate how much lack of customer service can really ruin your experience and take away from enjoying the food.
The Devon cream!!! The cream!! The cream!!! How I wish they sold this cream in my city!! You can sit down to eat here, take food to go, or you can buy a jar of jam, bottle of Devon cream, etc. Vanilla scone, Strawberry jam, and Devon cream combo was the best; everyone at my table thought so too. Strawberry jam was the best store bought jam I have had.The vanilla scone was lovely; the best I have had so far, but the cream was the knockout!! The cream is thick like softened butter. Put the cream thickly on the warmed vanilla scone and then add the strawberry jam on top! Wow!! Wow!! Wow!! I am in love!! I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars!! I also tried the lemon curd on the lemon poppy seed and vanilla scone, and tasted raspberry jam on the vanilla scone. They were nice, but not like the other. They have a customer washroom. *See my pics for more info.
Soooo delicious wow! Never loved scones that much but these are on another and better than any I’ve had before. Great crunchy outside but soft on the inside for the sweeter ones and the savoury one for my sandwich was super nice and flaky. Got the Turkey stilton sandwich and loved it! The cheese was really tasty and strong in a good way. For $8.50, I’d say it’s definitely worth it for the quality and taste. The couple sweet scones I got were also delicious and now I want to try all of them! Inside is nice and it was pretty busy so it may be hard to find a seat. All the staff were super kind. Definitely recommend!! A must if in Ottawa to try to be honest.
We weny there for our first breakfast in Ottawa. The place has an industrial vibe and not welcoming. We ordered two breakfasts of scrambled eggs on different flavoured scones. I asked for coffee to arrive at the time of main course of eggs and was told it will not be a problem. The coffees were brought to us right away when we set down. We waited for a long time for eggs and by the time the order came the coffees were cold. The two orders had different amount of eggs on the scones. The scones were very dry and had no taste to them. You could not tell the cheddar one from the onion. Big disappointment. Hope to find a better breakfast place tomorrow.
A year ago a definite 5/5. But this visit a super let-down. They handed us a number for our table, so the staff clearly knew we were dine in, but then gave use our scones in a bag. We had to re-line up for butter packets (which they now charge for) Last visit we had awesome breakfasts but this visit we could not find a breakfast menu until we left and it was on a small print out for a large line up of people who also missed it. Other tables were going through the same confusion and frustration. Definitely an attitude of get your scone and get out.

The scone itself was amazing! I ordered a turkey cheese Sconewitch (sandwich) and it was very good with refreshing pop of flavor due to the blue cheese. The flavor combinations was great, although for some reason it didn't leave me dying to return for another sandwich. I would go back to try a scone with either butter or jam next. Very friendly service and helpful employees that are happy to make recommendations. It did take longer than expected to get our order but it was reasonably busy.

The quality of the scones is truly excellent — very tasty, with a moist interior and a good slight crunch on the outside! My only major complaint is that the food is very expensive. My wife and I purchased two sconewiches with no sides, two teas, plus one dessert scone to share and the total was the price equivalent of a full meal for two despite being a very modest amount of food. I would happily pay prices like these for a place that at least pays their staff living wages, but after following up on that I discovered the majority of staff is paid minimum wage. Just something to keep in mind for those who visit.
I've been here twice now, visiting from the GTA, and all I can say is that I wish we had a location here! Great atmosphere, friendly staff, great service. Seating is somewhat limited and lines can be long, as the first time I came in, the line was almost out the door. The second time I came by was around 10am on a weekday, so there wasn't a line and there were even a few free seats. Food is delicious, and every scone I've tried was tasty. The breakfast with eggs, a scone, a salad, and your choice of protein/side was delicious and pretty filling, but maybe not the cheapest. Worth it though, I think, as a treat!
Love this place! Yes, they are a little pricier than the supermarket ones, but it's totally worth it! You can tell they really put in the thought and effort when creating these flavors and baking these goods. Freshly made, fluffy and airy, the most wonderful aroma. Not too sweet, not too buttery, everything is just perfectly balanced! They have sweet and savory kinds, my favorite is the lemon poppyseed. A great choice of gift for your coworkers/family/friends. They sell various jams as well to pair with your scones - you can never go wrong with that. Quick service as well! Definitely a gem.
Everything is mediocre. Had high expectations before going there but got a bit disappointed TBH. Asked for scrambled eggs with scone, but they changed the menu and offered a similar one, scrambled eggs with ham and cheese on top of scone. Taste wise just okay. Ordered orange-berry scorn and oatmeal scone separately, average cafe level. Poached salmon was also average level. Brewed coffee and green tea ordered, no comments… won’t recommend any of them.

This place is great! The staff are super friendly and informative. We stopped by here on our Ottawa Day Trip and bought some scones home. We bought them fresh, but the staff later told us that we could've bought them frozen (nice to know) ! I ate the scone back in Montréal the next day and it was so good. Get the devonshire cream and the jam! I froze the other ones and brought out whenever I wanted to eat one : defrost in the refrigerator overnight & 15 seconds in microwave! Highly recommend!
Been an NCR resident for 2 years and this was the first time I visited the downtown location. Ambiance was cute, spacious, and minimalist which is an approach I appreciated but was surprised to see the lack of seating. Value for money was decent, coffee was good and food presentation was decent as well. Only thing I wish is that there was more of it…overall was satisfied but stil left hungry & thé menu was very limited (that was my biggest complaint) which in the grand scheme is minimal.
Love coming here during lunch ! The scone selections are always great ! Whether savoury or sweet, never a disappointment. I had the goat cheese sconewitch and it was rather cheesy but still good ! I do miss the Mediterranean veggie option they had before.

The scones were delicious! I got a maple pear and a lemon poppyseed! I also got jam and Devon cream to go with it! I love the top crust part! I think the maple pear was sweet enough on its own that it didn't need any jam :) they also give you lots of jam and cream so next time I would ask if I can get those in take out form so I can finish them at home. It gets pretty busy at lunch hour, so def go there a little before the rush to avoid long lines.
Average food, the scones are delicious and freshly baked. The goat cheese and tomato sandwich was small for the price. The vanila latte tasted good, however there was no lactose free milk option instead they offered oat milk. Their cups smelled ( both the one with latte and the water cups on the table. I tried a few cups and they all had the same smell, like the smell of fish. Overall very pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff.
Love the scones, the place is not cosy though. Often the trash can is out in the middle of the floor, they still have the mask policy up in the window. I am not an anti vax or unempathetic towards people who may still be immuno compromised but it’s a bit jarring to have the sign up on the door still for customers. The decoration is very scandi but could do with a bit more warmth. Staff is very friendly. Scones are top notch
Good scones but unbelievably slow service, I left after waiting ten minutes in line for only one person to be processed at the cash in that time. Witnessed three staff members bring out food/coffee to a table of 2 kids and 2 adults. Including the person running the cash. I don’t know why it takes 3 staff to do that, leaving the rest of the line up stalled. Another two people left the line up as well. Very inefficient.
My favourite eatery in Ottawa! It’s a great place to come for breakfast/brunch/lunch and definitely make sure to take away some unbaked scones to keep in the freezer at home. I’m not ashamed to admit that I always stock waaay up on the pumpkin scones available in the fall. During Covid-19 they began a delivery service for some of their scones and jams which was an easy, contactless way to refill our freezer.
Great place with amazing food, really good for breakfast or brunch. The staff is very friendly and can recommend you what to take. They also have a few good vegetarian options which is always a plus. I tried their tea and it was really good. The portions are not very big which is good if you don't want to get stuffed, but just want to get a quick bite. Would definitely come there again when I'm in Ottawa
The scones are soooo good! I came for the tea break and ordered a vanilla-cream and lemon-poppyseed, paired with Devon cream & strawberry jam, not to forget a good coffee! Staffs are super friendly and efficient! Before I make the payment my scones are already put on a plate for me! A perfect afternoon with the fantastic scones and latte!

The scones are excellent with awesome sweet as well as savory options. This is clearly a very popular spot as well, and people seem to like the coffees as well. The only thing I'd have to complain about us the interior design and set up. It's a bit dark, and the furniture seems a bit dated. Overall still a 5 star rating as the people working there are also very friendly and chatty.
My favourite breakfast in Ottawa. There are always lines and for a good reason : it’s delicious. They did increase their prices recently but I’ll assume it’s to maintain their excellent quality standards. The brunch plate is a little overpriced but the eggwitch is an excellent alternative. Strongly recommend trying their scones if you haven’t yet. Best scones in the area.
Tasty food, hot and fresh scones. But what impressed me the most was the Ukrainian woman (a very kind and polite employee) who let me know that they had a soup (as a huge fan of soup I was very happy) and it was super delicious! Thanks!)

The scones are absolutely fantastic! They have sweet ones, and savory ones, as well as sconewitches and breakfast options. The coffee was delicious, and the staff are so friendly! I wish I could steal this place and bring it back home. Definitely coming back the next time we are in Ottawa. We highly recommend the vanilla-cream scone, and the cream cheese sconewitch.
Excellent counter service restaraunt selling variations of Scones. We sampled Plain, Orange & Cranberry and Peach Ctumble. Also sells hot drinks with decent coffee and hot chocolate. Brunch breakfasts also available. Takeout took in individual or boxes of 6 or 12. Good disabled access, no menu, items are listed above the serving counter. Helpful staff so just ask
A very nice place for breakfast of brunch. Tends to be a bit busy. The menu is limited but very peculiar, which is perfect. Their sandwich creations with their savoury scones are always great. The coffee is perfect. The service is fast. We make sure we are there every time we are in Ottawa. Have not tried their take-home frozen scones yet. We will one day.
This used to be one of our favorite places. We love the scones but the staff is very rude and unwelcoming. We’ve been looking forward to getting these scones for weeks and we left the store feeling let down. Disappointing.

The best scones I've ever eaten! I tried the onion and herbs and the raspberry one. Even though both are amazing, I found the first one more flavorful than the second. Also, the raspberry one was very small compared to the savory. I think the service can be improved, I did not feel very "welcome" as I only bought two scones and it shouldn't be the case.
It’s a SCONE, it’s a SANDWICH, it’s a SCONE-WITCH♀️ We got their Ham & Gruyere and Poached Salmon Scone-witches. These Scone-witches WERE amazing, super buttery, flakey but didn’t fall apart to the bite!! Ham & Gruyere had such a nice Cheese flavour, Poached Salmon was flakey, flavourful, layered with Greens, what a wonderful Brekky!
The food was good taste wise, but my soup was mostly just warm. If salt and pepper was an option i wouldn't know where to find it. There were also out of half the menu, so I didn't get most of what I wanted.

Really cool idea and food tastes great. It’s a nice cafe vibe and we didn’t have to wait too long on the weekend. Portions were a bit small and without a side salad, you may not be filled however. Good location in downtown Ottawa and seemed to be liked by the locals. Seating is there but they don’t have a lot like most downtown cafes.
The scones were solid! Nice layers throughout, not too sweet (we only tried the sweet options). The regular options are far superior to the low gluten variety, however, and I find that even the regular scones are somewhat small for the price. The Devon (clotted) cream left to be desired, but overall, I would go back.
wow!!! the lemon curd was soo goooood and the devon cream Loved the experience and will def visit again Tried the lemon poppy seed scone, vanilla, apple toffee, and cranberry orange. It tasted fresh and amazing. such a treat to come here!!! we seriously Cannot wait to visit this place again when were in ottawa next.
The SconeWitch didn't live up to it's reputation based on the glowing reviews on Google. The scones we received were quite hard and didn't seem fresh. I was hoping to be amazed by their offerings, but maybe I popped in not on their best day. They're staff were friendly and helpful and ambiance/decor was nice.
This place makes damn good scones, but I would definitely recommend going for breakfast. So damn good. We all had eggs of some sort, and they came with a scone, some nice jam to complement it, and a salad. Everything was good. On a nice day though, you'll likely face a lineup to get a table (well, we did).
Overall fine. Tried their sweet scones which were amazing. Lemon poppyseed and oatmeal scones are highly recommend! Had a poached salmon sconewitch and coffee for my second visit. The sconewitch is alright, ingredients were fresh yet nothing spots on. The coffee was so blank and just like iced water.
Amazing scones. These are "next-generation" scones, with great flavour and texture - light, melt-in-your-mouth, and easy to eat either by hand or using a fork. Definitely worth checking out. They also have great options for tea.

A great place for gluten free! Called to ask if they had gf options, and the server was very kind and set aside some scones for us. When we got there they were ready and tasted really good! Ingredients are gf but there is a possibility of cross contamination as stated by them. Great service overall
Whenever I visit Ottawa I make sure to stop by this location for breakfast. This was my third visit here, but the first time since Covid. The menu is a bit limited this time around from what I recall, but understandable given the circumstances. Sconewitches are still delicious and fresh.
This place never disappoints. It has been one of my favourite places in Ottawa for over a decade now. Today, I tried the breakfast scones for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at how they were plated and how they felt like an elevated version of a breakfast sandwich.
Wonderful service. Friendly staff, and yummy treats. Decided to go for a ride and make a stop here for coffee, and I'm happy I made this decision. My dad also haves him thumbs up for the coffee and his experience. Will come back again to try the SconeWitches
Some of the sconecombos they have are really nice (like the mushrooms!) Other are just plain silly... This also goes for the scones, some delicious some strange. Definitely sick to sweet and steer clear of sandwiches unless you like having a crumble party.
We had their scones for a company event. It was a huge hit with everyone. They were delicious, fresh and light with the perfect amount of flakiness. Its hard to choose from all the different flavours. Would definitely want to check out their store.
First time here, but staff are friendly, space is great to have coffee with someone or get a little work done, prices are reasonable, and scones AND coffee are DELICIOUS!!! The unreal kind of delicious. Highly recommend. Will be coming again!
A wonderful breakfast find that was a short walk from our hotel. Super friendly staff as we ordered for eating in. We ordered breakfast scones that were delicious surrounded by fresh fruit, lettuce and yummy drops of dressing. Americano and
Loved the environment and people! They were very nice and helpful! My 11 months baby loved the cheddar scones! Within the two days that we were in Toronto, I tried all the savory and loved all! I am so sad that I can’t have them in Toronto!
This is my second time visiting the place to have a brief and casual tea time in the middle of busy afternoon. This is a decent place to get a scone and a cup of tea in Ottawa! They served varied versions of scones, not the traditional way
Clean, bright, friendly cafe with kick butt scones. They might not always have everything offered on their menu (no ice for cold drinks, and no vanilla scone for bumble berry shortcake when I visited), but they have so many other options
Had the best brunch experience over the weekend - delicious eggs and vanilla cream scone. I also ordered the iced coffee which was really good. Go early, especially on weekends - it started to get more crowded when we left around noon.
LOVED this quaint little spot! My friends and I enjoyed some “scone witches” and I had the tomato and goat cheese, along with a salad. The food was scrumptious and the vibe was super open and friendly. Will absolutely be coming back!
Ordered scones last week. One of them had a hair baked throughout the scone. I contacted Scone Witch about this but haven’t heard back in almost a week.

Amazing place! The most yummy scones ever! Very kind and hardworking staff❤️ I’m from Toronto and came to Ottawa for a getaway and this was the best breakfast place we went too! Thank you so much! Will definitely be coming again!
The scones are ridiculously good! So good we came back again. The scones are delicious too. I believe I got the orange cranberry. Both of the scone witches (BLT and Goat cheese) were amazing. I can't recommend this place enough.
Had the blueberry scone and the one with dill in it. Both were delicious. Got the rest of the flavours and shared those, got a lot of compliments. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town. Pleasant, efficient service.
The scones and coffee were delicious, served quickly, and priced well. The breakfast “eggwich” was very tasty. The staff were kind and friendly.

Crazy, busy place with very slow service. Could be way more efficiently operated. The scones are nice and fluffy but the mains are small and the salad is just OK. Flavours are light and needs more depth.

The scone here is sooo nice. We ordered sconewitch with salmon and mealwitch with mushroom rago. Both are really delicious! But you might have to wail in a long line if you come here in weekend.
A delicious breakfast or lunch spot! I always make sure to go here every time I'm in Ottawa, and I OFTEN think about it when I'm not in Ottawa. Highly recommend it anytime I get the chance!!
I love British scones. I was surprised that the scone and jam were both amazingly yummy. It was hard to find a British scone place. Although the lineup was long, it was all worth it.
Scones are divine. They do not skimp on the ingredients in the scone sandwiches. Just don’t expect much of a witchy motif. Zero cauldrons and very little Wiccan imagery available.
The sconewhich was fresh and the pastry was yummy. I had the poached salmon with side salad on a cheddar scone. Busy but lots of people just taking out so there's room to sit.
Scone was flaky and I appreciated the choices of savoury and sweet. Side salad wasn’t tossed. Nice easy lunch choice. I would go back and try other scones and filling combos.
The Scones were absolutely delicious. The Date and fennel was my favourite. I went to their other location and ordered a dozen for my family to also try.
Very good texture and cooking, I just wish they used a better butter. Not sure why bakeries in North America can’t get quality raw material. …
Decent scones with variety of flavors and friendly staff. I was in from Montreal and always take an opportunity to get scones from Ottawa.
Extremely patient and friendly staff. The bake at home scones are fantastic along with well written instructions. Will visit again.
Some of the best scones in town! Definitely recommend the BLT on a feta scone for a brunch item, or the lemon poppyseed as a snack!
Busy but fast service even for a sit down. The brunch is a bit over priced for the portion but the drinks are priced very fairly.
amazing scones! great spot for lunch - you can add a side soup or salad to your sandwich for like $2. plus, cheap coffee!
Always a delight to visit and enjoy their scones. Twice in less than a week means they're doing things right as always.
Awesome place for scones and breakfast. Would definitely go back for it when I get the chance.
Scone Witch is the best. Fresh and delicious always! Great local business. Nut-free bakery!
