My wife & I wanted to start casually biking and so we decided to buy a few low to mid range bikes for just that. We were well aware that these bikes weren't anything special but decided to have them built here instead of the free assembly you get at some of the big box stores. We thought that by using a professional to build them that we could spare ourselves some of the horror stories of owning/operating a cheaper bike (bent pieces or not properly installed moving parts). The Experience: They estimate 2-3 business days to assembly the bike and charge $60 per bike. I dropped them off and was not contacted for 3 days. I called to follow up since I wasn't in any rush and they said they they were ready. Ok, was I suppose to wait for a call or just show up to get my bike? Anyway, I came and got the bike and asked for some help showing me how to install my bike rack which he did do and appreciate. Quality of Work: The first ride we took was around the neighborhood and we noticed my wife's bike was making a terrible sound( a loud hum) while braking. My bike was fine so we decided to call and ask about what it may be. They weren't sure over the phone and so we took the bike back to the shop to see if we could find out. He immediately was able to point the blame on the wheel of the bike and point out that it was painted and can make that noise until its worn off. If it was that simple and common of an issue, then why not point out at time of pick up or sound like a familiar issue on the phone. We took the bike home and looked up ways to hasten the process and get the humming to stop. A week passes and the wheel goes flat due to a factory issue. Frustrated, we're taking the cheap bike back but only after wasting the summer trying to figure out the issues that come with bike ownership. This is not a review on more than the bike building process, I'm sure they do a lot of other stuff beautifully but like I said, Not For Beginners.
I've been here a few times and this is my new only stop for bike needs. I have been into many bike shops in Charlotte and they all have their pros and cons. Most are competent. But here they are more than just competent, they are also personable and a joy to speak with. I struggled to install new tyres on my bike to get back into riding. After 45 minutes of me trying to be self sufficient I realized that my hands are simply not strong enough to get the tyre into the wheel. I called them up and they asked me to come right over. They took care of it within 10 minutes. They have been very helpful in answering other questions for me as well, whether it's an item I bought from them or elsewhere. In both cases they have been extremely helpful. They are my only bike shop now. And, it will be my first stop for a beer when the pandemic lockdown is over because it looks like a fun place where people with smiling faces hang out.
One of the few hidden diamonds in Charlotte. This is one of the places that define what so many people love about cities right in our own city of Charlotte. Cluck reused a space that would have otherwise been torn down and made it into something special. Their attention to detail, texture, and space is what makes this spot work. Who would have thought putting a bar inside a bike shop (under a whole office) would create a space with better character and culture for biking than most city centers? Great bar, great shop, and great architecture firm. Needless to say, one of my favorite spots to get a beer in Charlotte.
At one point was my go to shop here in Charlotte - this was before the worst customer service experience i’ve ever received. While trying to track down missing pedals on my bicycle (long story). I was told first call back at a later date because they were nowhere to be found and the guy who originally worked on my bike wasn’t in. Upon my second attempt to track down my shimano clipless mtb pedals I was simply told, they weren’t on your bike when it came it and it’s not their problem. Use at your own risk
I’m a repeat customer here and they are truly excellent. They’ve taken care of my bike tune up, repairs, and helped me order parts. Claire and the rest of the team were extremely friendly. However the main reason I’m writing this review is that when something wasn’t right with the last repair, they had such pride in their work that they took care of it, ordered a missing part, and did so free of charge. I trust them with my bike and you should too
Definitely not a big bike store. Not a huge selection of bikes to purchase from the floor but I don't think that was their goal. It's more of a hangout for coffee and beer for bike enthusiasts and had what appeared to be a very capable shop. I talked with the mechanic about classes offered and group rides available. Very friendly and informative. I'd recommend it to anyone with a cycling interest.
There is a reason this shop has been voted best bicycle shop in charlotte multiple years in a row. Their staff is very knowledgeable and very helpful. As an added perk they also have a bar serving beer, cider, hard seltzer, and wine with an excellent patio to enjoy it on. Even for the colder months they have outdoor heaters that work like a charm. All in all this place is 10/10 would recommend.
Great beer bar and bicycle shop. There is limited seating inside, but the outside is great for sunning, drinking, and meeting new people. Dog friendly, so bring your puppy and the staff will provide water and treats (if you're lucky). The crowd is super inviting, and because it is a bicycle shop (and a beer bar), they are constantly hosting group rides and other events.
I'm rating this place on the bar side, as I stopped in for a beer after a dinner at Passion8. And what a cool idea! Their beer selection was (surprisingly) good, the patrons were a lot of fun, the bartender was chatty, and the store/bar itself was pretty unique. A totally random stop while I was in Charlotte, but a totally worth-while one at that.
This is a bike shop. Every time I call they don't have the parts I need and they are simple things like master links for chains. Showed up they made a costumers chain super complicated for the service tech when it obviously was a rear wheel alignment issue. I bought two bike bikes at the same time and they are lemons. Good luck everyone else
I love this place. Ride your bike here, air up your tires, and stay for a couple beers. They also repair bikes, sell locks and other gear, and are super super friendly. Sushi, margaritas, and Big Ben's right across the street as well. It's a great spot, even if you take kids, that I've been back to multiple times.
I was totally shocked at the very pleasant experience that I had with today. The bike engineer was very helpful, non-threatening and highly experienced. My bike was serviced and I was on my way in fifteen minutes or less. I rate my experience at 150% satisfied. The Spoke Easy will be my bike physician forever
I was so impressed by the mobile repair van. Dread arrived to my home and gave my bike the tune up it needed within a quick 20 minutes for a fair price. He was knowledgeable and courteous. It’s incredibly convenient and wonderful to not have to leave my bike in the shop. The Spoke Easy has my loyalty!
Great experience! Super cool place with friendly, laidback staff who took care of me right away. Quick and efficient, and though my bike had a complication that required additional help, they were very accommodating and solved the issue within a very reasonable time period despite being very busy.
This place is truly THE Best Bicycle shop in Charlotte! All the mechanics are amazing! If you need any repairs done, if you need to purchase a bicycle, or just want to grab a cold beverage and hangout, I 1000% recommend this place! They also sell awesome merch so you can ride in style …
Awesome and chill people they do everything right and have the best and most respectful customer service. Definetly will always come back here and anytime something is wrong with your bike or you just want to chill and have a cold one this is the #1 place to go!
This place is all you want in a bike shop, hangout and more. The staff is cool, the vibe is funky and the work is top notch. They also value community, which is huge. New to Charlotte and looking for a bike shop and cyclist club? Look no more, you've found it.
With 7 bikes in my household, we are frequent customers of Spoke Easy. The guys there are great to work with, finish tasks on time and are reasonably priced. The fact that Spoke Easy is conveniently located in my neighborhood is a huge bonus, too!
I recently purchased an electric bike from someone and it needed some love. They really took their time to get me road ready. Thanks guys for your hard work. I would 100% recommend you to get your bike fixed there if needed. Thanks again!
Stopped by and was met with great service and everyone is super knowledgeable and helpful! I will definitely be back with my dog when it's warmer to socially distance and enjoy some beers in the outdoor space.
Excellent atmosphere, good beer selection and mind blowing variety when it comes to bike parts. The owners have carved a beautiful, artful and hip niche that deserves to be far more well known than it is!
Mechanic immediately identified the problem with my hub, gave me the repair part, and offered to install it. I'm confident that future visits would be handled with top-quality service as well!
We would definitely go back to this bike shop. Helpful staff (who taught me to change my tube after getting a flat), lots of dogs, great patio, and a bar inside. What more could you ask for?
The service was great, and they did a great job on repairing my bike. The people were friendly, and I found that it's a great place to hang out. Lots of neat people and good conversation.
Got a great single speed bike! Wanted a single speed to cruise around with and Claire was awesome helping me out. Coaster Brake for the win! Looking forward to having a beer there soon!
Great Service, community and fun is what The Spoke Easy folks deliver! This is the best bike shop in the Carolinas, full stop- look no further!
It was very hot outside, and a very, very, very lovely young lady was nice enough to give me a cup of water, free of cha. So sweet.
Madison really took care of my bike. Kept it short and sweet with quality work. Thank you. Best bike shop in Charlotte. 100 stars.
The service is awesome, employees are nice & knowledgeable. I've brought 3 bikes here to be referbished, and they feel brand new!
Good location. Excellent DJs. Good weather once the sun gave shade from the surrounding buildings. I will definitely come back.
