The owners of this bakery are so kind and leave you feeling good to support a local shop run by a couple... and the goodies are the best way to thank yourself for supporting them! They bake fresh goodies constantly and have found a perfect balance between favourites like chocolate chip cookies and brownies alongside some less familiar options that give some variety and excitement for those who really like to traverse the dessert table. They also offer a variety of drinks to compliment your treat whether you take it to go or sit in house for a short break. They will take custom orders and make cakes too. Getting a box of mixed treats to bring over for dinner is always a great option too. *warning- due to popular demand I would suggest calling an order in ahead of time should you want a large volume or want to be specific about what goes in your box. They can get cleaned out of a lot closer to the end of the day. I don't mind this because it means they aren't wasting a lot of leftovers because everything is made and sold fresh. If you want sweet, go to The Sweetest Thing! You won't regret it... unless you're dieting. Then you likely will regret it because you're going to go back and have more.

This review is only talking about the gluten free/dairy free baked goods. So I went here a few months back after seeing they have gluten-free & dairy-free (vegan) treats. I walked in and got a cookie sandwich and a lemon cookie. The cookie sandwich was about a 3/5, not enough icing imo. The lemon cookie was a 5/5 very delicious. I have periodically gone back and all they have now is the lemon cookie which is my favourite so that’s okay. Yesterday I went in for the lemon cookie. I went about an hour out of my way for it. Unfortunately they didn’t make any of their gluten-free/ vegan treats. So overall I wish it was easier to see what they have in stock in store. The website constantly says under construction in the gluten-free/vegan part, they don’t post much about the gluten-free/vegan treats on their Instagram. They are not accepting holds currently due to the holidays so you have to pre-order via phone I guess. So overall, it’s hard to know if there will be an option for me when I go in.

Delicious cupcakes, however will not be returning because of the service. My mom ordered for my bridal shower and received amazing service and incredible cupcakes, I ordered for my wedding and was very disappointed - the woman on the phone was rude and unprofessional and when I explained what I wanted, she told me it wouldn’t work. She told me that the icing would look like concrete and taste terrible if they dyed it, when I had received dyed icing already for my bridal shower cupcakes! She took it upon herself to dictate how I’d receive my order…”white leaves not green because they would look weird” “regular butter cream and not American because American is for kids” for MY wedding cupcakes!! Why not tell me that “We recommend this” rather than telling me “we won’t do this, we are doing this instead”. I spent $600 on cupcakes and was spoken down to. It was so upsetting and it was the most disappointing experience, I would not recommend this place moving forward.

If you're looking for a cute bakery with tasty treats this is the place for you. I've been popping in since they first opened up this past summer (2018) and grabbing a vegan treat or two. They aren't specifically a vegan bakery but they always have 1 or 2 treats to accommodate my diet. The owner Erin is a wonderful, friendly person who happens to make the tasty treats ever (if you love oatmeal chocolate chip cookies you NEED to try her vegan & gluten free ones.. they are legit the best cookie I've ever eaten). Most recently she created a custom all vegan birthday cake for my 40th birthday and it was amazing. I just told her my theme, the number or people and she created such a fun cake that was so good myself and my party guests couldn't deny themselves a second slice. I can not recommend The Sweetest Thing enough. If you're in Oakville or passing through please stop in and try a treat your taste buds and tummy with thank you.

Not only are their baked goods incredibly delicious, but the service here is BEYOND amazing. We were given samples, told all about the different goodies and their ingredients, and asked to hang out for five more minutes so we could get a fresh-out-of-the-oven batch of chocolate chip cookies. I purchased their lemon loaves (SO moist and naturally sweet), six of their cookies (fresh out of the oven), and a seasonal spruce candle. Unfortunately, when I got back to my home in a town over from the shop, I realized I hadn’t grabbed my candle! I called them back to ask if it was there… and was asked for my address so they could drop my candle off on their delivery route later on! I don’t usually leave reviews, but I was so blown away by the quality of both the goods and the service here that I couldn’t resist. Please go give this wonderful bakery your business, you will be glad you did!!

I'm only sad about being a local and just discovering the sweetest thing this year from non local friends. The owners are absolutely amazing and hands down have done an amazing job in pouring their love for what they do into this shop. I love how Erin mentioned to me she herself painted the blue walls outside ♥️ her interaction with her customers are another level. Erin went above and beyond my expectations to correct an issue with a purchase I had made the week prior. Absolutely made me feel better just how I was treated. The only thing you will be disappointed in is missing out on some of their top items if you come too late in the day because they do sell out since everything is baked fresh day of. I highly recommend their key lime pie and all of their cookies are to die for. Pair it with their coffee too, I love their Americano. My girls and I have found our new treat spot.

Woooooow! I was driving around with a friend on Easter Sunday looking for an open place on Kerr street and there it was. I’ve always wanted to try it based on recommendations and reviews. Where do I start? I tried a few items and here’s my feedback. Chocolate chip, pecan coconut and oatmeal raisin cookie were all amazing....not sure which was the best out of all three. I also tried the apple crumble bar #no_comment Of course, no dessert session is complete without a fresh brewed Americano. Very good coffee I must also admit that I actually passed by to pick up a second round. In addition to the cookies and bars, i got a carrot cup cake. Sane amazing feedback. I was in the area and stopped by to pick up some cupcakes for a friend's birthday and based on reviews they seemed quite good. No regrets. This is the best quality of cupcake I have ever tasted - I bought a set for myself as well and tried a few other things , Skor cookie? and lemon loaf ... everything was perfection. Cookie was soft, sticky, chewy , everything you would want in a cookie. Lemon loaf blew my mind , the cake was so soft and still moist and the glaze was more of an icing glaze rather than a sticky runny one. I will be dreaming of this lemon loaf for a long time. I had their cupcakes yesterday and again today ... popped the snickerdoodle into the microwave for 10 seconds... it was soooooo good I had to write a review. Kudos to the lovely ladies at the sweetest thing, you found yourself another loyal customer!

I shouldn’t have left birthday cupcakes to the DAY OF but I did. After a quick Google and perusing of reviews I had a good feeling The Sweetest Thing would be my solution. WOW! Their cupcakes are both gorgeous and DELICIOUS! Fresh, moist and scrumptious with icing that was perfectly sweetened. I actually don’t like icing as it’s often too sugary, but their buttercream was heavenly. Their shop smelled better than any words I could attempt to describe it with. It was immaculate and their staff incredibly kind and helpful. I highly recommend their baked goods for your next event big or small! I will be back in May for our other daughter’s birthday. Thanks for the Americano too. The experience made my day.

Ok! We came here 2 days in a row!!! The goodies are amazing...the cookies (gotta try the chocochip crunch in a chocolate chip cookie!!) the vegan cookie is great! Their brownie...let me tell you! The brownie is so YUM, my Hubby ate some! (Not the norm.) Soft serve ice cream is thick and creamy and doesn’t taste super milky. Pairs great with an espresso shot. Oh! By the way...their choice in coffee beans are really good. The customer service is pleasant, happy to serve and communicate information about menu items well. The place is so pretty. It’s clean and comfortable and well set up. Definitely the best ice cream in Oakville!! Check out their lovely cakes also!

I absolutely love this dainty little bakery. We are a very picky family and don't eat grocery store bought sugary treats. It has been very hard to find a bakery that just 'sticks' with us. Last week I ordered a sugar floral ombre cake for my husband's birthday and it was so delicious. My husband and the kids just devoured it. Staff is always super friendly including the owner. I really am surprised to read some of the negative reviews. I come to this bakery all the way from Milton every few days to pick-up cookies and I have never had a problem with anyone, and their treats tastes so good. I don't mind paying more for quality. On my way to Oakville from London , after a quick Google search and relying on reviews( my bad) ,thought to get a cake for someone on a special occasion. They only had tall cakes and the shocking thing is the person giving my husband cake gave him the cake in his hand to take it... No box nothing!!!!. How unhygienic is that. How is someone supposed to take this cake without a box and mind you the cake is almost $80 and without any box .But on showing disappointment, they gave the box which didn't even cover the whole cake and wrapped the rest of the open box with cling film. Very disappointing experience to be honest.

After having heard about The Sweetest Thing from my daughter and Vi over at the Yellow Door Studio, I had to go and check out the bakery. What a refreshening experience when you walk in the door. Bakers happy to great you and the smiles on kids faces to go and check out the sprinkle wall. Erin and her team have done a fantastic job. Sweet Treats, Sour Owner! I came to buy some cookies/ cupcakes despite how pricey these treats are. When I walked into the shop I was surprised at how unfriendly the owner was and didn't receive any greeting from her. I was lucky to be assisted by friendly staff, while cashing out I could see and HEAR the owner reprimanding a young staff member behind the counter. I felt terrible for this person experiencing this publicly behind the counter for the co-workers and customers to hear!

This is hands down one of the best bakery in GTA. Me and my husband visit this store often and have pretty much tried everything on their menu and not a single item has let us down…every time we visit we are in more awe of their baked goods! And they are very reasonably priced for the quality they offer… Only wish I could order a full cake with short notice. A few times I called I was told they are fully booked 4-6 weeks out for birthday cakes.

The Sweetest Thing is by far my favorite bakery. I never write reviews but trust me, you must try them! Everything is delicious especially the "sammies" cookies and they even have gluten free dessert options! The aesthetic of the shop is also to die for and is a cute photo op. I purchased 2 dozen assorted cupcakes for a birthday party earlier this month. We tried chocolate, oreo , cinnamon roll and vanilla. All were exceptional! Super moist cake and fresh tasting frosting. perfect size as well. The staff was very polite and patient as I went about deciding what to get. The cupcakes were enjoyed by kids and grown-ups alike and disappeared so quick even before I could take pictures!

Have visited this small shop several times and have been very impressed with their selection and high quality. When I've gifted various sweets the friends have really liked their treats! They also usually have 2 types of gluten-free cookies on hand as well. The lemon sugar cookies are very sweet, while the chocolate chunk cookies have been really moist and my gluten-free friends rave about them!

We bought 2 dozen cupcakes for a birthday party. Since it was an adult party we decided to splurge and go with the good stuff. 100% worth it. These were the best cupcakes I have ever had. Highly recommend the caramel apple tart and the chocolate mousse upside down cake when it is there, so damn sweet! ... also their soft serve ice cream is quite possibly the best I have ever had, anywhere. Cute place. Great cupcakes. They also had a gluten free cupcake option made with almond flour. Loved that. I went in around noon on a weekday. It was not busy but thank goodness for that. The male server was extremely extremely slow moving and talking. I felt like I needed to help him finish the transaction and box up the cupcakes myself. Very nice place nonetheless.

I’ve ordered a few times with The Sweetest Thing, and it is hands-down my favourite bakery in Oakville. Their cupcakes, treats, and cakes have been delicious every time. I appreciate the thoughtfulness in the bakery’s aesthetic and baked goods. The owners’ kindness, cheerfulness, and accommodating nature are a large reason why I will keep coming back to this bakery.

I've gone to the sweetest thing about 5 or 6 times. The cookies are and other sweets are great! However, with the exception of one time the service is not warm or welcoming. I understand they are priced accordingly with the quality of their product, but when you pay premium prices you should receive premium service. I hope this changes in the future!

Best desserts ever! Took some friends here yesterday. It was the best experience! I had the best red velvet cupcake of my life! Did not love my other cupcakes but I am extremely picky. The cookies were incredible though and soft serve was legit. They even gave the kids testers for free in tiny baby cones. I will come back anytime I am in the area!

Erin's cake was amazing! Every layer, we had three: raspberry vanilla, nutella and crunch - was so tasty and flavorful! Customized to our floral theme and just altogether an amazing experience! Cute little bakery located in Kerr Village, they made an amazing Tik Tok cake for my daughter birthday and the attention to detail was wonderful. The service is always great, and their treats are tasty! My personal faves: Crispy Chewie cookie, the Oatmeal coconut cookie, and their Apple crumble bar! Ordered personalized sugar cookies online and some decorate your own gingerbread cookies. Very nice presentation wrapped in cellophane, details on the cookies were perfect! We ordered a cake and a few vegan cupcakes for our daughter’s first birthday. The cake design was elegant and the taste was smooth. The vegan cupcakes were also tasty and did not leave an after taste like those you would get from your local grocery store. The overall service provided was great!
