Well, well, well, where do I even begin... If you're looking for a unique experience that combines contrived dive bar ambiance with the drama of a daytime soap opera, look no further than the Unicorn. Our party of eight stopped in for a quick one as we made our way elsewhere for a late dinner. It was a reasonably busy evening. There wasn't a table for 8 but two tables for four relatively close to one another. That wasn't a big deal as we weren't staying long anyway. Drinks were had, the bill was paid and chairs were starting to push away from the table. And this is where the story begins. A strapping young security fella with a beige moustache comes to our table and tells one of or members that there's been an incident in the washroom and that we have to leave. One can only imagine what that meant. Was there a fight? An OD? Who knows. Either way, seems like a good enough reason to vacate the premises. Then we realized our table was the only one being asked to leave. "Hold up cowboy" I asked. "Someone at our table was involved in this bathroom incident?" "Yup. One of our staff witnessed the ladies from this table doing something in the bathroom." Sherlock Shirley (we don't know her real name because she wouldn't identify herself when we asked who made the accusation) claimed she saw some girls ripping through some Peruvian snowflake in the john and reported it to the authorities (beige moustache). "Some girls" is key as only one member of our party used the powder room during our stop and by her account it was a fairly unremarkable pitstop, and solo mission. Did Shirley see someone doing something? Maybe, but it wasn't someone from our group. Hopefully her her waitressing skills are better than her detective skills. In conclusion, if you're looking for a place that combines accusations of illegal activities with a side of being perp-walked by a bouncer with a beige moustache, this pub is a must-visit. Who needs a dull evening when you can embark on a thrilling adventure of suspicion and intrigue? Just make sure to have a lawyers number in your phone.

Have been to the unicorn 4 times in the past with friends and will not be coming again. Service was good in the past but this last time May 24, I came with a friend and the service was not as it was in the past. My friend ordered a burger and an order of wings for himself. I ordered 2 batches of wings. My friend had a couple of his wings and his entire burger and was not able to finish the rest of his wings. He had asked to pack his wings in a box and the waiter (British accent) replied, “sorry because wings were in special for wing night you are not allowed to take the rest home”. We mentioned that on 2 past occasions the waitress was accommodating when we had other meals ordered as well and were able to take any extra wings home and he replied “well she was not supposed to allow that”. To be honest, quite surprising to hear that especially where there is no clause on the menu stating that rule. It was not like my friend came and ordered wings to go only (was not the case on other occasions) and he simply was content with the burger and a couple of wings. Regardless, this was handled poorly and will not be visiting this establishment again with friends.

I had ordered roast beef meal for dinner. I have never had anything so salty in my life. People that were sitting next to me saw the disgust look on my face Including my friend sitting right in front of me Gentlemen on the right side looked at me saying that bad I said horrible I made him try it he was like you have to send that back it’s way to salty My friend said let me try it. Even he was disgusted and spit it out Then I remembered. I saw a video how people send food back if it’s not good To make sure they don’t get that same food back it by putting tons of salt on it My guess is they gave me the food that was sent back and I am assuming that person knew that trick to pour tons of salt on food Anyways I am absolutely disgusted Please do better There is no way the chef would poured tons of salt on food I am extremely disappointed. No apologies the server just took the food back and disappeared Came back with new one a while later IT WAS STILL HORRIBLE super bland I felt bad/ I was hungry so I sucked it up and ate it

Celiac disease is an auto-immune disease for which there is no treatment or cure. We must avoid gluten or suffer the consequences. I'm not severe, but ingestion of any gluten containing products results in (sometimes significant) discomfort and frequently the unpleasantness that accompanies food poisoning. Even just a veggie plate with GF dip or plain nachos with salsa would be a simple add to the menu.

I didn’t have the best experience here. The waitress was clearly stressed out and wasn’t mindful of that when she was serving our table. It made the experience uncomfortable because it seemed like she was rushing us and rushing around the place. I also wasn’t too happy with my order. I felt like the food quality wasn’t worth its price. For example, I had a pizza and it tasted like an overly frozen pizza that just got cooked quick. It just had that weird and off taste to it. The wings were also kind of cold and mushy. So my appetite wasn’t satisfied and neither my was my experience. I am very disappointed as I’ve always heard good things about this place.

Went to here for an afternoon drink with my daughter and daughter in law. My son had been sleeping as jet lagged and was coming to join us after we had already entered and ordered drinks. I am 70 and my daughters in their thirties. We were not asked to show ID. My son is 40 and didn't have ID. The waitress refused to allow him in without ID. Even after me pleading with her. She said it's policy everyone must show ID. Many other people just walked through and not challenged. In fact we didn't see any other person asked. This was discrimination based on a power hungry waitress. If this was policy it should be enforced on everyone. As tourists this was very upsetting and ruined our evening.

After 4 yrs, am back to thr Unicorn. Second time to be here and it is still great and it was busy. This time in the Basement. Server Amanda was awesome and attended to food and needs professionally. We had wings and salad. Salad was fresh and good. We also enjoyed the wings as it was wing night with drinks, I think we had lemon pepper and pamesian cheese flavor. Absolute horror of a place and horror of a server. She was looking so disgusting and when she walked up to the table she leaned in to the point her whole belly was on the table ( she was barely wearing a bra/ crop top whatever that was). We ordered food - the samosas and when they came there was a weird fluid on the side of the plate and when I asked what it was she said it’s prob mayo from another dish and idk if it was mayo or not but it looked absolutely horrendous. We ordered drinks - my cider tasted like absolute vomit and my husbands beer came in a can that was drenched in some weird fluid once again - when asked the server she said it’s glue from the box? Disgusting!!! Never coming here again

Found myself wondering around downtown on a long weekend and starving. Almost popped into McDs but then I seen the Unicorn's sign - Cowtown Burger & Fries, $7. Was wondering what piece of shoe leather I'd be eating but alas BEST BURGER ever! I'm 60 and this Burger was best I've ever had! The bun so fresh and delightful, delicious juicy meat, fresh purple onions, real cheddar and yummy bacon! SUPERB! The fries were crispy and delicious! My lovely server Xzena is TOP NOTCH, CLASS ACT. When you meet someone like Xzena you sorta wish you were rich so you could tip her a fifty without blinking. Alas I can only offer a small gratuity and my Thanks Much gratitude. Thanks Xzena. This place was literally just ok. Me and my friend went in on a Wednesday wing night at Around 8 expecting it to be packed but we must have just missed the rush. It was self seating, so we did. Waited just a little too long for service, watching servers walk by without taking notice of us. Once we did get service, the gentleman we very friendly. Thereafter we were taken care of. We ordered 4 sets of 10 wings. Which came incredibly fast. Only to realize why. They season their wings on the spot. Nothing special. As you can see the wings on the right were supposed to be garlic parm. It was just sprinkled with the seasoning. With everything said just as I said. This place is ok.

I love the unicorn! In an area that can be pretentious and over priced the Uni stands tall (it's three floors) and delivers an unfussy, relaxed pub experience. The service staff vibe is happy and they actually stop to chat with you. The specials are very reasonable in a world where it seems everyone wants to charge $25 for a basic burger and fries! Their burger special is a modest $13. I highly recommend everyone pop in for a pint, something to eat and just enjoy the relaxed pace.

I took my mother here for her birthday. She picked the place so I guess she took me here. I did not ask the servers name but he was kind and was great at serving. idk what the adjective for that is. 3 gin and tonics with lime. also a basket of fries. the fries were pretty salty but they were good fries. Not from a bag I don't think. or the deep fryer is just really good. I enjoyed my time at this establishment. They wished my mom a happy birthday. Not too bad prices either. Would recommend if u can handle loud noises. 8/10

This pub is a go-to spot for catching sports games and enjoying some beers with friends. They offer a diverse selection of draught beers, as well as canned and bottled options. With numerous TVs scattered around, you can catch the games from nearly every angle. The place is ok so is the food. The service is exceptional. From the moment you sit down, you feel at home. The servers are friendly and attentive. Yesterday, I stepped in just for two drinks and sat at the bar. The male bartender welcomed me with a smile and a little chat. If you haven't been to this place, it's a must. It's the most boomin bar on Stevens ave. And it's not only one bar, it's actually 3 bars. One on each level basement bar is more live music chill area, middle floor is a sports bar and the upstairs a casual they host comedy shows once in a while stuff like that. But all 3 bars serve great food and service with a smile. Best bar on Stevens ave hands down.

Lunch was quite the surprise in that it want delicious and made exactly to order. Stopped in for lunch on Friday, joint was packed which was a super good sign. Good afternoon. Went for wings before they started the wing night. Ordered the garlic parmesaan. Tasted like 3 day old leftovers, totally dried out, hard, bland, zero flavour. $15 for the 3 wings i ate. I know on wing nights, wings aren't cooked from fresh. Usually pre-blanched that day...but this was old, left out uncovered for days. then deep fried again to bring up to temp. Definitely won't ever eat there again.

The legendary unicorn is the signature drink and it was delicious. I expected the presentation to stand out more since it is a signature drink. Maybe some fruit garnish or a sugar rum with a colored straw something to really represent the name of the pub. The service was great, the food was good and the entire place was very clean.

We came here for the wings and they are to die for! MUST TRY Roasted Red Pepper and Habanero Mango! They do non alcoholic drinks as well which I prefer. Busy spot. Very vibrant. There are a lot of little games like video golf, buck hunter, and the like. It is definitely a fun spot, but I would have liked to see more menu options and better quality TV screens. There are a lot of 32" screens around so you can see a game, but in 2019... 46" is the new 32".... Particularly in a sports pub. Not a bad environment though. And the service is good.

The Unicorn has a reputation as one of the best pub in Calgary and it definitely lived up to it. Went for pre-concert drinks and dinner with a group of six and the service and food was exceptional. Lamb burger was a big hit with the group but my Rueben Sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had. So great to see “real” pubs still exist!

Overall, great bar! Good time playing darts and having some drinks. Only 1 negative thing was there was a blonde fella with a backwards blacks hat they said we couldn't get a drink in a certain location (said it was only for servers), however, then proceeded to serve others in the same location. Ooooooo The Unicorn...Superpub is right.The Nachos are STACKED and the best I've had in a long time. The bartender (downstairs) makes a perfect Old Fashioned. The servers are friendly, and service is great. There's dart boards and video games. Also,The Lost Boys play there on Thursdays. I think that I just found my new go to party place.

This is a decent spot. I can only comment on functions as every time I've been here its been on the top floor with a group/function. In regards to that, food is tasty, major pub vibes of course but the interior is clean, lots of food and drink to offer and the service is good.

I have only been to the unicorn once but I think they have a great service! Despite being a busy weekend night, we, as a group of four, were seated quickly, didn’t have to wait for our food to be prepared for too long, and all enjoyed our food and drinks. The waitress was also really nice. Will definitely go back!

Great spot with a different atmosphere on every level. The staff are great, I haven't ever eaten here as it's been just a walk by beer or a full on party spot watching a band in the basement. Just on 8th Ave it's a great location to check out.

Visited the patio on a Saturday evening and got the table pretty soon. The place got busier by the night. Loved the vibe and the food and drinks. The service was quick and the nachos were delicious. Would visit again given the nice vibe at Stephen Avenue.

Okay, I don't drink but I surprised myself when I downed this French Bulldog before our meal was served. Crazy over this! Food was great! Everything we ordered was delicious but try their "Off the Wall" pizza!

Nice place in one of best streets of Calgary. Its menu has good appetizer options, I'd recommend wings with garlic sauce, and good options of beers. There are 3 floors, the main one closes the kitchen at 0h30.

Wings were OK. Beer was good. The service was awesome and so was the atmosphere. I'd go back and probably eat wings again

Great service; however, the nachos were not good. Overcooked which hardened the cheese and hard tortilla chips. Potato skins were overdone as well and lacked seasoning.

The unicorn is a casual, cozy place to go to if you're wanting to catch up with friends. On Thursdays they have wings for 0.29 cents which is a pretty great deal.

Our server was quick and attentive. Reasonably priced drinks. Great location.
