As others noted, this isn't necessarily a destination spot, but Tile Bar is definitely OK for a cheap drink or two. We came here after a nearby volleyball game for a round of pints before going elsewhere. The bartender was a bit awkward, making weird jokes, but she was trying to be nice and friendly. There were five decent beers on tap, and all but one of them were a measly $5; the last one was only $4. The atmosphere is very bland - the back bar area was mirrored and had some nice wood trim, but it's like they forgot to decorate the other three walls. Music was a mix of jukebox and the bartender's iPod - both were good for the short time we were there.

Terrible bartenders who don’t care about their customers. A customer poured beer all over my head and slapped my friend twice, but the bartenders kicked us out cause that customer was a “regular”. The bartenders obviously don’t care for the safety and well-being of anyone there. They are so caught up with keeping their regulars happy that they’re willing to put people in dangerous environments. Whoever Bailey is needs to be checked and fired for letting all of this happen.

Super cheap drinks Alert! This is another divey and cheap bar in East Village. Beer here is about $4 to $5 and a whiskey on the rock is only $5.50 and it is a big glass. The bartenders are friendly and the bar reminds you of an old radio station. It is never overly crowded so it is a good place to hang with friends and chat without having your ears blasted off by some loud club music. They don't have food here other than the bar stool snacks lying around. Will be back for some alcohol!

We went here for my friends birthday but multiple of my friends were assaulted here and the bartender did nothing about it. we told multiple bartenders what happened and they chose to ignore us and instead defend the people who assaulted my friends because “they were regulars”. The bartender named Bailey (who, when asked, said his name was “chuck e cheese”) was extremely rude. Will never be going back to this establishment!

Definitely your local neighborhood bar. Complete with the essentials. Well priced too. Friendly staff and clientele. Everyone seems to know each other and are welcome to outsiders as well. I’ve lived around here for over a year and always wanted to check this place out. I was not disappointed. No gimmicks, no bs. Just your standard bar with a great atmosphere and good vibes all around. Just a heads up, it’s cash only. I’d definitely give this place a go.

HORRIBLE experience. Bartender was extremely rude and turned us away saying our ids were fake—they are not. Pretentious atmosphere. As a bar you should have an id scanner or black box. She didn’t even make the effort to call over another employee to check our ids. If you’re in your early twenties, there are plenty of other fun places in the area to take your business to without being condescended.

All hail Tile Bar. Great place to go when you actually want to converse with the people you're hanging out with. Friendly bartenders, *extremely* generous pours, especially during happy hour. Lively crowd, cozy interior, notable lack of tacky gigantic TVs. Crowd ages from mid 20s to 50s. So great that there is still such a reliable place in this constantly-in-flux neighborhood.

Whoever this Bailey person is, the rudest bartender ever had in NYC. The other bartender from Friday night was much warmer and hospitable. He also tried serving expired orange juice until my friend asked him if it was spoilt. A shame I love this place but Bailey was so unprofessional and almost like he hated working here.

its just OK I know a certain person tjat disaggrees and swears thaf it is the best bar in Manhattan. I would say you have to pump the brakes other than the stupid cheap $3.00 well drinks at happy hour it is just another bar in manhattan for people looking to get loaded from cheap lower level well booze and cheap prices. Like i said its just ok

From Wisconsin, so I know a thing or 7 about cheap drinking in dive bars. This place was cheap, drinks were poured by hand (not with stupid metered pour spouts) and the bartenders engaged in just the right amount of discussion without being up in our business. Would drink alcohol here again.

The chillest bar in the east village. Drinks are crazy cheap and it’s filled with all locals. Not the typical millennial type of spot. $3 beers, $5 mixed, and an amazing tile floor. Out of Jack Kerouacs “on the road”. Allen Ginsberg would have liked this spot.

  • Geoffrey Arkin

Stopped in for a drink, quintessential dive bar, the barkeep had control over the PA system which can be a bit or miss depending on one's taste in music; however it was spot on for me personally. Cheap drinks and and chilled out vibes made me feel comfy

  • Jason Wong

Divey corner spot that has been here forever in the EV, it used to be a radio station back in the days. You can get a drink here for like $5. Doesn't seem to get too crowded either. It is a good chill spot to hang out during those cold winter days.

I lived here for a while and just moved abroad. Desperate for a place like Tile Bar near my new home!! It’s literally the best bar I’ve been to, staff are amazing (Leigh especially!!!) and always a great place to vibe. Love this place!!!! …

DIve-ish bar with an amazing juke box. Place can get a bit crowded but the crowd is pretty good, though it varies from night to night. Drinks are cheap and the alcohol selection is not bad.

  • Necro Destructicon

What happened to this place?! Once loved it. Guinness in plastic cups? Service was terrible... TERRIBLE! It was once a great neighborhood bar. Miss the bartenders who cared and were fun.

Long running East Village institution and sort-of debauched community center — alternatively known as WCOU Radio Bar. A no frills, reliable and unpretentious dive.

  • Jordan Allen

- low-key corner bar with great, chill vibes - music was great and dope jukebox featured - sat at the windows which were cool for people watching

  • Jacob Vink
