Not so much the location, but management seem to have a real attitude problem. I came in today and have dietary restrictions (allergies), and picked out a couple things. Noticed I was heavily limited in choice which was surprising as usually they have a great selection of vegan snacks, they did not. Got what I can have, and went to pay only to be greeted with a woman bossing every other staff member around. Best part of this encounter, she did not know the menu of the cafe, so had put through a latte the cafe could not make, waggled her finger at me to wait and then ignored me again to do something with some trays. After this, she kept asking me what I was trying to say to her and then wandered off for something else AGAIN. Best part of this encounter being that after I had bought nearly 5 pounds worth of food from the cafe, only 2 light things keeping in mind I am limited to the menu anyway, I was then told I could not bring in additional food. So beware if you have allergies or low blood sugar levels, apparently we are not welcome here, nor will they even stoop so low as to accommodate anyone other than certain people.

The traditional decor makes for a interesting venue. Nice relaxed vibe. There was a guy playing the piano (very well) which was lovely and fit well with the atmosphere of the café. Everything was 'no frills' the food, crockery etc but though unassuming, the food was great. Really tasty. I had the a turkey, stuffing and cranberry ciabatta and my partner had a brie and bacon ciabatta. I really would recommend that you give this place a try, it's a lovely, alternative place, very family friendly and you can pop next door to the gallery afterwards. There were quite a few people working/studying in there, a little noisy at peak times, but some people just wore headphones. Free Wi-Fi and free tap water that you can pour yourself.

Amazing venue, had the wow factor immediatly. Arrived early and it was peaceful. Such a great mix of old and new. Staff were friendly and efficient. Coffee is quality and the Erros tea later was good. Had a falaffal beetroot wrap that was good and I felt that there was a nice attention to detail. They provide a water urn and glasses, and you can refill a bottle of water by asking staff at the counter. I inagine at its busiest the acoustics could get quite loud but when its mid busy or less its lovely. We even had a guy play on the piano at lunch time which was lovely. I cant wait to go back

Nice place if you just want to have a coffee/tea with some cake but very bad attitude towards clients. The lady that attended us was very rude. After just ordering a coffee and a cake, she looked at us like if we were bothering. We even though about leaving after this as we didn’t feel welcome. Then she just threw slightly the plate into the baking tray like she didn’t care.

Certainly a café that stands out from the rest, the Tiled Café is definitely the place to go. With its beautifully decorated walls and floors and ceilings adorned with intricate patterns and vibrant colors, this café offers a visually stunning and unique environment. The attention to detail in the tile work creates a captivating atmosphere.

We ordered two pots of tea and were given two paper cups with a tea bag in them. I get that they were only using paper cups at the time but we weren’t warned by our server that it’d be in a paper cup and no explanation given when we received our order despite the fact that we paid a fairly steep price for what we thought would be a pot of tea. Also the green tea was not great ! The place is very beautiful though but it was just a poor experience for us on this day.

A Really nice place to come and have a coffee while you are in Library or visiting the art gallery because share space with both. Really welcome with the young people attending. I recommend. Update. Free Good WiFi. Update a plus Because today there a Piano player. Unfortunately the customer service needs to improve, people cleaning the tables and emptied us to hurry up while you are still on the table .

We met friends who had travelled from didsbury in Manchester here and we were all enchantedbeautiful space truely worth a visit especially if you adore architecture and the piano chap playing Harry Potter was so lovely. This is a must visit if you are anywhere near. Very old tiles and the vaulted ceiling is amazing. No hot or savoury food presently, just cakes and scones and teacakes. Reasonably priced and spotlessly clean. Delicious cream scones, x

Decent coffee and a very nice piece of cake for little money. It's a nice place with fast friendly service and a good selection of food and drinks all at low prices. There is a good selection of vegan and gluten free options too.

A beautiful cafe located in the art gallery in the city centre - there are power outlets scattered around making it easy to do some work while enjoying the beautiful architecture/ serene aesthetic of the space - it is also connected to a library, and is a beautiful space to walk through and explore

The tiled hall cafe in the library is an excellent location serving delicious cakes. They even tolerates me asking for an extra cup so we could make a thickened juice. Service was a bit slow.

This has become my go-to place in Leeds. Great for meets, free WiFi, good snacks and well cumfy. Lovely atmosphere. Historic, modern and full of facilities as well. I must do the art gallery one day, easily accessed from the cafe as is the library. Can't believe they covered it up in the 60's, our gain.

The mens toilets downstairs were a disgrace. No toilet seat, no toilet paper. Luckily the disabled toilet was not locked and I used that. Drinks reasonable prices, the cakes etc didn't have prices on that I could see. Complacent management.

Great staff and super friendly. The cafe is absolutely stunning as well and it's fantastic on a sunny day as the whole cafe is bathed in sunlight. Nice seating as well - a good mix of window seats, normal ones, and super comfy sofas.

Worst coffee in the whole of Leeds. I have no idea what coffee they use here but it’s consistently god-awful Been a few times, hoping each time the coffee will be better. But no. Alway the same nasty bitter burnt taste.

  • Gordon Barnes

Very good. Going back in the new year. Happy Christmas and New Year.

The building and decor are remarkable. Sadly the food and drink do not meet expectations. Weird tasting coffee, poorly cooked crumpets and a tiny croissant that was over baked. More
