If Hometown Hockey visited Tipton, it would win out of sheer pity, the NHL players would have to use all four dressing rooms, and even then they’d be knee-to-knee. The thirty-odd fans that could fit in the rink, risking hypothermia, might at least appreciate the city’s dark humour with the decorative, heater-like devices which hang teasingly over them. The CBC camera crew would occupy the entirety of the parking lot’s fifteen parking stalls, while everyone else drives around the block in parade fashion, looking for a spot in high density, one-way street residential. The lobby - 30% bench, 45% vending machine, and 20% weight-bearing poles - is cozy for any number of people, provided that number is under 10. Tipton is, hands down, the best rink in Edmonton if your alternatives are frozen stormwater facilities.

Easily in the top three worst arenas in the city. I always contemplate skipping my game when I see Tipton on the schedule. It's just small and outdated, and you know it's bad when the rink attendant tells you to exit through the front door so you don't get mugged after your game. There are very few parking spaces, the lobby is narrow, and the dressing rooms were made for toddlers; trying to fit a men's league team in a room that size is truly an uncomfortable experience. Even the benches are crammed. You can't fit a whole team unless players are both standing and sitting. The ice is half decent, and that is maybe the only good thing one could say about this arena.

The staff here are brutal. Half of them do not wear a mask or any form of face covering, even though they are city employees. Staff could care less what happens on the ice in a public skate. The parents of the kids aren't any better. They treat public skates like free day care. Drop the kid off and leave. Terrible rink.

It's an older rink, short of parking, short of space in the lobby and bad visibility to watch the game. But it's a classic spot to get the feel of good old hometown hockey. Its the kind of place that every kid should experience growing up and playing hockey! I like the atmosphere!

It's a pretty decent rink however, either as a player or as a ref, there are spots on the ice where the really strong fans in the arena make you freezing cold and the dressing rooms, both player and ref have tons of sand on the floors. I like the ice usually though.

The ice was really good! They updated the lights, glass, and boards, so it actually feels like a new arena when you're playing. For spectators, it is a little cold. There is not a lot of parking. The showers are really good, but make sure you wear sandals!!

  • Sean Curran

Not my favorite arena. It's older, so the dressing rooms are small. Parking is typically in short supply, and access is by one-way streets. Viewing area is small, but there are space heaters pointed at the stands. The ice is well maintained.

Tiny change rooms and lobby, poor on-ice lighting, overdue for an upgrade, but still better than nothing. Edit: the on-ice lighting has been improved and is now pretty good. Unfortunately, the score clock is not in proper working condition.

Small old barn. Buy the time you get to the players benches you've practically ruined the edges on your skates. City needs to upgrade to better toilet paper this single ply stuff is god awful. Upgrade the washrooms they badly need it.

Love this arena, nostalgic memories here, as I lived in this area from age 0-6 and remember playing at Tipton park and learning to skate here, now I Coach and Referee hockey, as well as taking in my son's games here …

  • Kate Gingles

Very old arena that needs some updating. Dressing rooms are tiny almost unusable for bigger teams. Lobby is usually cramped and referee rooms are very small and doesn’t have any washroom or sink.

Tipton arena is an older arena, but it is in remarkably great shape. The older arenas have so much history, if only the walls could talk.

  • Keith McMaster

Nice little facility. Very clean. Change rooms are a little cramped for the kids plus parents, but nothing that can't be worked with!

  • Annonymous Lady

The parking sucks and the dressing rooms are too small. The arena itself is good. There is no room in the lobby to wait for people.

  • Glen Craven

Older arena, good ice. Small dressi g rooms. Make sure to lock cars and dressing room. Known for theft issues at night.

  • Brian Livingston

Watch the one way streets. May be easier to park on the south side as it's close to the entrance, and easier to leave.

  • WHATCHA MCCALLUM

Good clean arena. Can get crowded pretty easy. Have hit up public skates and had our kids who are in hockey play here.

  • Corey Smith

Not a lot of parking and the attendant can be a bit gruff but overall clean, good ice, and well maintained.
