It’s a cool lil place nice selection of fish and exotic fish as well. Employees are nice and educated on most things. I give it a 3 because I bought fish from them twice and my fish have ich I’m not necessarily saying that they have fish with ich but twice in a row that’s just not a coincidence. Ich can form in many ways and in many circumstances. But for 5 years of keeping fish I have not dealt with ich at all. I have a 30 gallon planted aquarium that was cycled and season for over 3 months. I test very often for NO3, NO2, CL2, GH, TAL, KH, and PH and everything is normal I also had some inhabitants prior to putting the fish I got from here in and no ich for over 3 months. I do water changes weekly. I do everything on my part. The first time when I brought these new fish in I thought I did something wrong when I spotted ich and saw many fish die at least 75% of the fish I got from here died. I went for the second time to get the fish I lost to ich. And now I have spotted ich again. And so for one fish had died. Ich can be a very scary thing to handle to any new fish owners or older fish owners. So just have some treatment on hand prior to buying fish and at least have a quarantine tank.

I’ve been looking for a super hard to find fish to add to my home fresh water tank. I’ve gone to several big box pet stores (Petco, petsmart etc) and they all said they haven’t gotten these fish in over 2 years. Went to more established mom and pop stores (the type of stores that look down upon novices like myself) and then after i thought i exhausted all my options a quick google search turned up Tokyo Aquarium. It looks small and inconspicuous on the outside but when you come inside you will be in freshwater fish heaven. They have soooooo many rare fish at very VERY reasonable prices. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. Everything from the fish to the decorations and food was top notch. I found fish that I’ve never seen and wanted to take all of them home. I highly recommend this place for all freshwater aquarium enthusiasts. You will not be disappointed at the selection of fish and accessories and above all customer service. Especially when they treat semi new fish keeper as well as experienced fish keepers. WIll definitely be back soon!

Went to a pumpkin patch and got a goldfish that died that same night. We came here because my son is obsessed with fish lately. This family owned business was a little busy when we came in but they still made sure to greet us and asked if we needed help. My wife and I don't know anything about fish and maintenance (hence the dead goldfish) and they began to explain the types of fish and how to keep them alive. As we picked out fish (two female beta fishes, since the males fight each other) we bought a bowl and other pieces and they would answer each of our question and also give us an explanation as to why we needed something or didn't need something and were never trying to upsell us for things we didn't need. We got it all setup and my wife and I are happy with our purchase and glad the way it came Will definitely return once we get a bigger place and get more fishes!

Everything for everyone, this place is like home. I know all the staff, sometime we have snacks, we share knowledge about the fish, location is forever clean, family owned,.. one of the greatest place for the neighborhood. Look left an right you see food, gas, furniture store, bar, nice homes... I feel lucky coming here every time... nice housing for the water life, SUPER larger variety... plants, stones, tanks, water solution, sand, rocks, nets, filters, air pumps, foods, crabs, shrimps, water snells, wallpaper IT ALLLLL . My husband and I just happened to be in the neighborhood, far from home. We stopped in to see what kind of fish the nearest aquarium had and we were just impressed by the stock. First, every single aquarium was pristine & clear! Every single fish was healthy. There was a young man on site diligently tending to the aquariums. For a small store to say they're well stocked is an understatement. The owner explained that they were actually low in stock due to the holidays but when they're well stocked they have people order from their store all over the contiguous United States. Well, we're impressed and we'll come by again!

Extremely helpful staff for a first-time aquarium owner. My friends and I received a ton of help from Josh, where he went in depth to exactly what we needed to start our own beginner aquarium. We spent about 2 hours picking from an assortment of fish tanks, community fishes, plants, equipment, decor, etc. Probably the coolest 2 hours my friends and i went shopping for anything. We even got hand-written instructions on how to properly set up all the equipment once we got home :) Would definitely revisit to buy more fish later down the road.

Great place. Terrific service and selection. Very fair prices. My daughter wanted a small aquarium and our friend recommended we come to Tokyo aquarium. It not only has a huge selection of fish but the owners are helpful and informative. They set us up with an aquarium and starter kit, helped us pick out compatible and hearty fish (and snails), and walked us through set up. The brackish water addition is brilliant. We felt comfortable setting up and have returned to buy more tank decor. We’ll be back for all our aquarium needs. 5 stars

This is my go to mom and pop shop for my fish tank! They have healthy looking fish in very clean tanks, and a very good variety. All my fish are from this place, and are healthy and happy. I purchased African cichlid fish today, and I am so pleased with my purchase. Prices are very good, and they have the best customer service. The lady who works there was very helpful with me today, she was patient and really knows her stuff about different fish! I get all my stuff from here, definitely worth your time.

I've been going to this place for years!!! I love it, the owners are so nice and sweet. always helpful and with a big smile on their faces. Totally recommend this place. I moved to Santa Monica a few years ago and I don't mind the drive to go to them. ❤ I was there yesterday, 11/17/2022 and like always big smiles and soon as I walked in. Love the place, one of the cleanest fish stores I seen. The prices there are reasonable and aren't crazy expensive like others. I always go there for my fish,tools,and food needed. They do have live plants but it might be a little confusing because from what I see they call them "potted plants" and not the actual names of the plants. But other from that I have purchased there plants and I love them no melting or any sorts (highly recommend getting plants from here)

I only buy beta fish. They are easy to keep alive and are adorable. Here you can find an array of colors and sizes of beta fish. I saw they have an aquarium that has three compartments so you can have 3 that's gonna be my next purchase. The gentleman who ran the store gave me some tips on how to better take care of my new fish so he lives longer. A little condescending but gave sound advice.

As soon as I entered, I noticed the pacman frogs were in little cups that were dirty and sit there for who knows how long. Aside from that, there was dirty aquarium tanks with dead fish. Customer service was not friendly. I would have purchased and rescued a few pacman frogs, but that would only make the owner want to buy more and replace the ones I grabbed.

Very kind owner, she saw me taking photos of the fish I was debating on purchasing which wasn’t allowed, and completely understandable for many reasons. Teresa was so helpful when I asked about some beginner freshwater tank owner tips & gave me a lovely history of Tokyo Aquarium (opened since 1960). Can tell how passionate she is about aquariums and the entire fish ecosystem. Will definitely be coming back and telling more friends about TA!

Extremely clean, well taken care of tanks , fish are healthy, and the family that runs it really knows what they're talking about. I'm so grateful I found it. It's rare to find these days. It's a lot of hard work and love that goes into maintaining that many tanks .

Ive been visiting Tokyo Aquarium for a few years. They have a great selection of fish that are very healthy. Each time I come in I can always find one of the workers cleaning out the tanks. They are also very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this place.

I love this shop. I sometimes stop by on my drive home. The tanks are always super clean and the fish are healthy. I always find something new like the blue flower horn in my photo. I'm going to try the father fish method of substrate so I picked up some sand.

Shop has a great variety with very healthy fish. I was able to pick up the fish and plants I needed while receiving good direction from educated employees. Things were clean and tidy in the store unlike some other fish stores in the area.

I came in here to browse but wound up buying a whole tank setup and some fish! The staff is so friendly and helpful and made this a wonderful experience. I can’t wait to go back to keep building my aquarium. Highly recommend!!

Reminds me of the store on gremlins where you can go buy a Mogwai. They probably have everything you need but many things you don’t need but you still buy anyway. Staff was very friendly and courteous.
