My first Visit to an library in Canada, left me spellbound and speechless. With previous assumptions in mind, right from entry to interiors, presented an work of art so immaculate and perfect. 1) Right at the entrance was placed an receipt box wherein you can return/ deposit library books 24 hrs . No human presence involved. 2) Timings and other relevant information prominently displayed on entrance door. 3) spacious magazines corner with wide varieties and an reading table. 4) spacious kids section with swanky seating arrangements suited to kids and books . 5) Rows of shelves with well marked contents and enough walking space all around to see and pick a book of your choice. Surprisingly vast collection of Gujarati books, latest, too available. 6) comfy seating space for adults. 7) Enough sets of latest computers that can be used by library members with facilities of taking out prints at nominal charges. 8) Issue of books is most hassle free and very quick by automated system. Just place your bunch of books on a designated platform and the computer scans your books that is reflected on computer screen. Verify the same by entering your library membership code and it gets issued. Further an email is sent eon verifying the same. Presto! 9) For any assistance or information, the library personals are more then willing to help and are very courteous. 10) There are a few more distinct features and facilities, but so much for now. In all, my perception of an library is totally revamped by visiting this library. Kudos to concern authorities for offering such class amenities to its citizens and visitors. Furthermore even the users are responding responsibly by maintaining book’s upkeep. Spic and span interiors, full silence, volumes of varied books, cosy seating arrangements, helpful staff all sum up to an enjoyable leisure reading time at this library. Do visit and enjoy.
Very poor communication during COVID-19 closers and reopenings. It was listed as "open" on Google well as the Toronto Library website. I'm not familiar with this branch and when I approached the entrance closest to the parking lot an alarm sounded. There were way too many signs only one of which actually giving instructions to use the main entrance. I went to the main entrance only to find it locked and many more signs one of which vaguely said to use "the other" entrance for the library. I walked around trying to find the entrance they were refering to only to have more alarms go off. When I finally called the number listed online there was a voicemail saying this branch was closed. Very confusing, frustrating and unreliable.
Really depends what you are looking for. Come if you are looking for: - small cozy space for leisure reading. - Adequate lighting, lots of windows too Don't come if you are an adult or student looking for a quiet public place to work: - acoustics is awful. You will clearly hear all of the conversations going on in the room. There are no closed work rooms. - Limited work spaces. Limited access to power outlets at tables. - It is connected to a elementary school so likely will be filled with loud grade schoolers after school. - Public parking free is about a block's walk to library entrance (gated staff parking takes up that block of space between where you'd park and the library entrance)
If you have little children, this is the branch for you. Not suited for study as it gets noisy in the afternoon when school children arrive. Couple of years back, there was some shady activity but now seems to have been resolved. More enforcement required by library staff in making sure that people simply sheltering within the Library (due to heat/cold advisories) do not disturb or interfere with patrons unnecessarily. If you can, the closest and better option is Albion (probably 5 minute drive). I use Humberwood purely for quick pick-ups and drop-offs. Chill and stay safe :-)
Really quiet and cozy library during school hours. Library is connected to Humberwood Downs Junior Middle Academy (the school), so after school (or programs for students) it gets too noisy with the influx of students and librarians can't control them. Sort of like a fish market... There are no quiet study rooms or anything like that but there is space like reducing the office areas for the staff and converting one room to a study room. Edit: CURRENTLY KIDS ARE RUNNING AROUND, FIGHTING, CURSING UP A STORM, SAYING THINGS NO CHILD 12 OR UNDER SHOULD SAY
While school children had the discretion of speaking in hushed voices, the librarians were kind enough to show how it's done by entertaining the entire library with their chatter. Throw in a toddler with a bright future in demolition and you get this one of a kind spot, just don't come here to read or get work done.
5 stars is not enough. In addition to beautiful atmosphere, the staffs are amazing too. I take my shy little son there for "toddler time" and "family time" programs and he has changed sooo much, it's because of the nice, kind and really professional staffs.
Library without a silent room, in fact the most noisy library ever visited. Only thing recommended here is pick up or return books. Even better would be if it is converted to coffee place. Terrible Library!
Beautiful place to read and study! Staff are so kind and books all taken good care of! I used to go to Humberwood Downs, and this library has never changed since!
I love this place. My toddler also happy to go there and she is now very friendly with books. She ❤️ to read and keep books. Staff is very polite and helpful.
Came here today to pick up my holds. Friendly staff. It was easy in and out in less than 3 min. That self serve desk made things easier for me.
this library is sh#@! WHEN YOU GET ON THE COMPUTER AND YOU SAY ONE WORD YOU GET LOGED OF THIS IS WHY THIS LIBRARY IS SH#@!
It's Toronto public library. Small in size and have all facilities that regularly library has but in limited volume.
This says it is open but since last week every time I visit it’s closed. Please work on this matter.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Help to coordinate the children morally.
Quite library for hanging. Not so much books but quite for studying.
