"A tour of the modest size museum was given by Mr"
"Our visit to this Museum was the highlight of me and my GF's visit to New Orleans"
"Absolutely fascinating"
"The importance of this museum cannot be over estimated"
"The Museum is a must see if you are a jazz enthusiast and want to know the truth about the origins of jazz music"
A tour of the modest size museum was given by Mr. Jackson who is a living dictionary of Jazz. His knowledge is so vast and he will take you back all the way to Egyptian kingdom. Each of the photos, paintings, artifacts on the walls is not just for decoration, but has a deep story which you will hear from the owner. Highly recommended. More
Our visit to this Museum was the highlight of me and my GF's visit to New Orleans. Al was so friendly and so knowledgeable he not only put me on to so much new information in the museum he also got me to research so much new information. It's a brilliant museum accompanied by a brilliant tour. Highly recommend visiting this place.
Absolutely fascinating. I was lucky enough to be there with two gentlemen from Amsterdam who knew more about jazz/music and therefore had more follow-up questions. The tour will teach you a lot, but follow-up questions are where it's at. You can learn so much that it starts to wash over you like waves. I would go back every time.
The importance of this museum cannot be over estimated. It is keeping the history of New Orleans music from being lost. It is helping revive not only the history of Treme, but the Treme itself. Every time my husband and I visit this Petit Museum and spend time with Al Jackson we feel privileged and grateful.
The Museum is a must see if you are a jazz enthusiast and want to know the truth about the origins of jazz music. Al Jackson, its curator, is extremely knowledgeable and will share with you the truth with recordings, pictures, art, and a narrative second to none. Go visit Al at the Tremé's Petit Jazz Museum!
This visit was highlight of our week in New Orleans. We are grateful for it being featured by so many on Trip Advisor. We learnt so much from our patient and knowledgeable hosts... Just so sad that there isn't a live jazz venue in Treme, the home of its birth. Oh and great air conditioning!!
Oh. My. Goodness. So much information. I will definitely be back and bringing friends with me. The docent who collected all the stuff and information owns the museum. It may be small, but there is just so much to look at and see. Come. Bring your friends. Bring your mamma and dem. More
We were so lucky to enjoy a private tour with Al and a private performance with two of his fellow performers! Learned so much about Jazz and the history of New Orleans. Would absolutely come back again. It’s people like Al that keeps the soul of the music and the history alive! More
Stop in for an excellent 30-60 minute private tour with the owner Al. No real self-serve option here - he has some historical jazz "artifacts" and topical artwork, but mostly the appeal of this museum is the depth of knowledge and history that Al has to share. More
Visited with Mr. Jackson today and thoroughly enjoyed his history of jazz. This stop is a must for every musician and anyone who enjoys music. His collection of early jazz memorabilia is excellent and you will love talking with him. A true New Orleans gem !!
Seek out this one of a kind tour! Worth the time and effort.. really connects the dots of music history from New Orleans and beyond! Tour also was a nice amount if time at a fair price with an exceptional tour guide that really made you feel welcome.
It's a great place, small because it's authentic but you get to learn Sooo much about Jazz history . The owner (Mr Jackson) knows a lot. It is worth it. As a musician I learned a lot (and I knew a lot) in a genuwine way. Do not hesitate to go
This is part experience, part museum. Journey back in time through the rich musical and cultural history of the Treme, all contained in this one-room museum, and guided by Mr. Al Jackson, the lovely owner. You'll leave understanding so much

Treme’s Petit Jazz Museum tells the incredible story of the history of Treme, the birthplace of jazz. Al Jackson, the museum’s curator, Treme local, community leader, and historian gave me a personal tour of the collection. I’m so glad to
Undeniably one of the highlights of our trip - hard to pick in New Orleans, but I'd say easily a top three experience. After stumbling in from a big lunch at Lil Dizzy's up the road, we were treated to an extensive and warm tour by Al. We
Don't miss this slice of history and culture in the Treme! Mr. Jackson provides a fascinating tour of Jazz's path through history as it parades through ancient cultures and then straight through the Treme neighborhood! It was very easy to
This place is a gem, Al knows a ton and played samples of music from each era as he talked about it. He even started the tour by having us (very badly) improvise some music together--it was rough but fun! When we showed up it was closed
We met the curator/historian while in Congo Square on Sunday when there’s drum sessions. We went to visit the museum the next day and we were absolutely floored by the history, culture and discussions of race during the tour. Especially
This museum is small but of excellent quality. Mr. Jackson is a charming and engaging host, and your hour here will be one of the highlights of your visit to New Orleans. A basic knowledge of jazz is helpful but not necessary, and I’m
Visited back in June 2018 - what a great experience! You're taken on a one-room, 45 minute/hour tour by a very knowledgeable gentleman through the history of the Treme's musical culture, from its roots in Africa through European and
We were so fortunate to experience this treasure of a museum! With words and music, Mr. Jackson walked us through the ways that jazz evolved from so many countries and cultures—and the role that New Orleans (and Treme) played in its

We learned so much when we visited this museum. When I say learned I don't just mean getting given some new facts, I mean I really FELT this experience. I would say definitely stop here. We came away feeling lucky and blessed. More
This place is great. No usual pretentiousness that comes with Museums. Mr Jackson walks you through jazz history as he walks you through his carefully selected curation. If you love New Orleans culture this is a must stop to make.
Informative, inspired, brilliantly curated, unique, fun, engaging, simply wonderful—thank you! Brought my sisters here after my first visit with my husband and stepson a few years ago. Treme’s Petit Jazz Museum is a treasure.
The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about jazz. While small in size the building is full of interesting pieces of jazz history. If you appreciate music history you should do yourself a favor and stop by this museum.
The museum is extremely interesting and very full of emotions. In a tour of about 15 minutes, Alvin made us travel in space and time with music, maps and photos that tell the story of Jazz. It is a must go museum.
Wow. Al, the owner, is so knowledgeable about both jazz and New Orleans history. He grew up in the area too. Such a great thing to have someone who actually cares about his community create a space like this.
Thanks to Al for sharing all this knowledge with such passion and kindness. I will never forget that moment. You feel welcomed like being in an uncle's house surrounded by history. Our history.
Al Jackson is the best! No one knows Jazz better than he does. Amazing museum filled with memorabilia found nowhere else. This place should be on everyone’s must see list in New Orleans!!!
This museum is a little gem inside Treme neighborhood ! Nobody should miss it while visiting New Orleans. Al Jackson is an excellent guide with communicative enthusiasm. I've learned so

Al Jackson is a master at weaving the long story of jazz into a coherent understanding. Great collection of materials and music. Worth an hour to just listen and learn.
