Your typical laid back capital hill dive bar. Located near the backside of the capital. This place is definitely a locals spot. Many aids come here as well as house members and some senators. Typical of a local spot, service is laid back but attentive, they will check on you but not a million times. But you can always call out to get attention. Don't recommend this place if your not a fan of guns or deer hanging on the wall. But it's super eclectic and a genuine DC hangout. Also has a neutral political vibe despite the deer and guns along the wall.

Going inside is not recommended for those in need of handicapped accessibility. However, they do have seating outside that would be easily handicap accessible. But this seating is weather and availability dependent. I would advise calling ahead to ensure availability if weather is not a factor. Staff is usually well accommodating.

The food itself deserves 4 stars. But the service deserves less than that. Warning: not their fault but beware that the fried pickles are long cut pickles. Not the standard pickle chips. You will not get this from the description in their menu. If you’re just looking for a bar or a place to drink this place is fully functional for your alcoholic purposes. Aside from their draft beers I did not try and mixed drinks myself. As far as the service goes... When we went in we ordered two beers, waters, and fried pickles off the bat. The waitress brought us our beers and never brought the waters. Later we ordered a soup and salad. The soup and friend pickles came out at the same time approximately 20 minutes after ordering. However the soup brought out was chicken noodle soup instead of the chili we had requested. This took about 10 more minutes to correct. The salad never came either. The chili was bomb.

So me and my boyfriend came from manassas va cause we wanted to find a new spot to try that we have seen on triple d’s. We saw the episode of when Guy came over this place and thought to give it a shot especially cause it was a reasonable driving distance. Basically it’s a little hole in the wall bar, they played decent music and the service was good but we will definitely not be coming back because the food was not good and I could’ve had better around my way. My bf order the West Virginia sandwich and I was drenched in old tasting grease it was so gross definitely didn’t finish it and I had the catfish po boy which tasted decent but was falling apart so bad I couldn’t finish or enjoy. So disappointed cause any other place I’ve been to from triple d’s I’ve always liked the food but this one is definitely NOT worth it.

Looking at the previous reviews and the feature on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, I was looking forward to eating at Tune Inn on my trip to Washington. The atmosphere was good, a little cramp but not too bad, and they played good music. The service on the other hand was almost non existent. We waited forever just to get our drinks and over an hour for our overly average food. I ordered the Joes West Virginia beef sandwich, one of Guy Fieri’s “featured menu items”, which was essentially a sandwich with a minimal amount of beef with some Kraft Singles for cheese with their “famous” Nature sauce that was essentially just bad thousand island dressing. I’m not the one to write reviews but I felt a social responsibility to inform the internet of this treasonous establishment in our nations captial. *TUNE OUT*

Tune Inn has been offering a secret Italian food pop-up on Friday/Saturday nights and it is the perfect comfort food needed during these crazy times!! Last week, we had arancini w/marinara, shrimp piccata (which was out of this world!), and pappardelle pasta w/tomato & garlic. The Chef also had a second special for those non-Italian fans that included homemade corn bread w/chipotle honey butter (very tasty), pulled pork sandwiches, and peach hand pie! Tables are available outside, safely distanced, all wear a mask except when seated, reserve online, and you are ready to go -- my fav so far has been the lasagna with homemade garlic bread!! I only hope the goodness continues after the covid-19 mess. If you need a break and some good food, you can't go wrong.

Sadly, my friends and I did not get to receive the experience many mention in their reviews. We had a large party of 20 or so people as we all just left a funeral and wanted a chill place for food and drinks. I’m all about local spots, dives, whatever you want to call it, but the solo bartender/server was overwhelmed the second we walked in the door. No one was demanding service but drinks were being spilled and the frustration was both visible and audible. You, the server, told the woman who just buried her mother, “The damage was done,” when she apologized if it was stressful having so many people at once show up. I’ve been on the other side of the counter and would’ve welcomed the opportunity for the business and tips.

We chose this restaurant because it was featured on the Food Network show Diner's, Drive-in's and Dives. Usually the food is always fantastic if Guy has visited, but that was not the case here. We had the mozzarella sticks (which they served Guy it said), nothing special. My husband wanted to order the dinner special of Prime Rib and they were already out of it at 6pm. I ordered biscuits and gravy (breakfast served all day) and it had No flaver and was basically white paste with a few chunks of sausage. I sent it back and had the chocolate chip pancakes which were good. Only one waiter who seemed very overwhelmed and behind. Overall, I wouldn't go back and we were disappointed by the experience.

I have been here three times over the past several years. Heard of the place through Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. It is definitely a dive. Small, dark, dingy, a few flies. Very casual. Servers are very friendly but service is always slow. The food makes up for it all though. The food is delicious everytime- but also they are always out of at least one thing on the menu and usually they're out of several things...the location is the other thing I love- close enough to the museums and things, I always know that I have an option for lunch if I'm showing friends around the Capitol or visiting the Library of Congress. Food: great. Location: great. Atmosphere: divey. Service: slow but friendly.

This is the Tune Inn. It's not just a bar. It's the people - and what you bring to the place when you go. It's a locals place with real Washingtonians - and not just the prototypical group of lawyers and government workers like you find downtown. All are welcome. It's the most honest bar in Washington DC where you can still get good pour and still have a real conversation. The people are always nice to one another. The food is bar food - but good bar food. Try the cheeseburger or the steak salad. The music is always good. The people who work there work hard and they do a very fine job. Anyone giving this place less than 5 stars just doesn't understand where they were, or why they went.

Took my family and two friends here yesterday and had a blast. The server was great, and also has been there 18 years. I always try to get the story on great people. He took excellent care of all of us. There was a gentleman behind the bar as well they kept asking how we all were as well. All and all best experience. My little brother even made the comment that the pancakes were the best he's ever had. So Thank you for a wonderful time. To the people that are reading this for help deciding if this is were you want to eat, you do! Try the wings, fried pickles, mac & cheese wedges, cheesesteacjs, and even the delicious beer battered burger.

If you're looking for a D.C. dive bar with good fried pickles, this is the place. When I remarked that the place was a lot like a Nothwoods Wisconsin hunting bar, the bartender smiled and said " we get that a lot." Warning: if you don't like hunting trophies ( mostly deer, but also 2 jacalopes, and several marlins) this is not the place for you. Not criticizing, just want to be sensitive. Also, it feels very weird to give them 5 stars, I don't want to hurt their street cred.

Not sure how anyone could give this classic place less than 5 stars. You get what you expect from Tune Inn.... decent drinks, decent food and a decent view of the inner workings of Capitol Hill over drinks. It's nothing spectacular if you don't know that it's a staple in the area... you might just write it off as a common dive bar... but to anyone who has ever worked in the area or done business on the Hill, it's one of the best places in town. I always make it a stop when I have to be in the area for work or I'm just showing friends around DC.

Good food, Mat at the bar very friendly and welcoming. However, the lady (manager) clearly had a problem with other nationalities. Never had a problem there until this evening. Her approach was very offensive and was unable to talk to her (pointing at me with her finger while I was respectfully talking to her). I understand the US policies about asking for an ID but the approach should be improved. When I left and said I guess I’m not welcome here so not come here anymore she said „good, bye”. Waist of the potential of this place. Nevertheless big thanks to Matt for his service.

Ehhh... Compared to the other options in this area, this place is decent, but overall I'm not the biggest fan. My biggest gripe was the service. Very rude server. I get it, it's a local spot, but oh well, yeah I'm a tourist and I decided to spend money at your restaurant. Get over it. Food wise, the burger was a bit overrated but not bad by any means. Decent fries. Pretty big list of food options in general. Maybe the breakfast is better. Overall I would probably eat here again if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

This is a historic dive bar/pub for a reason. Opens early and closes late. Definitely casual attire. You will come here for the greasy diner food if nothing else. They have a stellar breakfast spread. I had the creamed chipped beef on toast with an egg over easy. Also highly recommended is the patty melt. Interior is authentic kitschy. The place is family owned, run for 3 or 4 generations now. If you’re near the capitol and are looking for a tasty bite, some reasonably priced drinks in an authentic bar...you found it.

Read great things about the history and good food, so trooped down to Capitol Hill for Sunday breakfast - one and done, never again. After 50 minutes, no coffee refill, one excuse about only having one chef, watching the table that was seated before us pay their check, and the couple who came in 20 minutes after us get their food, I handed the manager a $5 bill to pay for the one cup of coffee and we left. An hour (almost) of my life I will never get back. All I got from the manager was a shrug of the shoulders.

The bar was packed at 5pmish on a Saturday the overall decor was phenomenal, the beer was cool and had great flavor the bar tender was good and attentive just a bit on the gruff side. For a DC dive bar this is a good choice.

This place is hands down best place we ate during our stay in DC. And cheapest too! Hope the owner doesnt raise the price now that I wrote that. It's a little hole in the wall with delicious food. Strong drinks too! The mozzarella sticks are 3x the size of normal, mac&cheese triangle, sloppy Joe's, fried burger, and fries were fantastic! The biscuits and gravy were good but the sausage is not ground sausage as it should. And corned beef hash is very good but tastes like a cheese steak, which was fine by me

Found this place near our Air BnB late night upon arrival. This is not “fine” dining, it is Bar Food at its roots! Had a great meal, beer and cocktails that were all delicious. The service was wonderful! For my party, the atmosphere was wonderful! Quirky, homey and totally neighborly! We repeated our visit the next night and it was great! If you’re in the area, and are comfortable with an old fashioned neighborhood bar where you are welcomed as a friend, I highly recommend this place!

We read about the history of this place and were super intrigued. I love the feel of the bar..... very old school, kinda like cheers. My boyfriend and I both love burgers, we were eager to try them. Both of our burgers were dry. The patties were pretty thick so maybe we should have ordered them medium instead of medium well. The fries were fantastic and the ranch was delicious (everyone can’t make ranch). We will be back, just order a tad different. Our server was super nice.

I came for the atmosphere; I stayed for the excellent service. And I do mean really amazing service on a Sunday afternoon in February when this bartender was also covering the ALL of the table service as well! Unfortunately, they were out of several tap beers, including Guinness, and a few menu items, including collard greens. The French dip sandwich was decent, but nothing amazing. The fried mushrooms really hit the spot though. I’ll be back again, maybe later in the year.

Use to live around the block and have been going for years. Love it, it is all the best aspects of a dive bar. Its small, not fancy but the staff is great, the food and drinks are good and very reasonably priced. I'm surprised someone else said the beer was more expensive than most other places in DC. That is absolutely false, most other bars in DC or the hill charge more for drinks. The place has sass, I don't normally like taxidermy but for the Tune inn, it works.

The first time I came to tune inn I was searching that website to find a good place that sell Rubens and I came across tune inn and when I say I made the right stop I made the right stop I give a big shout out to the bartender Ricky he's so awesome The drinks and the food was on point Thanks guys I will be back.

Always try to make time to stop by here when near the capitol building. Great spot to watch football on a Sunday but not so great if you are trying to watch soccer. Highly recommend the wings. If you are lucky you can catch a combo deal with a pitcher and some wings. Bathrooms are hard to open and close the door sometimes. Just gotta Jimmy it a little bit.

Ordered the Tony's Beer Battered Burger with tots, mozzarella sticks, steak and eggs with grits and a grilled cheese. No extras needed for this burger. Delicious and juicy as is. I highly recommend it. The mozzarella sticks were also scrumptious and are highly recommended. My sister loved her steak and eggs as well as the grits...and she is very picky about her grits. Our server James also made our experience here awesome. He was fun, friendly and charming!

Whole in the wall, total dive bar with the BEST home fries I've ever had. Stopped in for breakfast. Everything was perfection. From the taxidermy and momentous on the wall to the staff to the food. I had the french toast and my friend had the chile and cheese omelet. I seriously could have eaten just a plate of those home fries. Just the right amount of onion and bell pepper mixed in with the perfectly cooked potatoes. Oh, how I want some right now.

The food was fantastic and they were very accommodating to me and my travel partner. We found out about this restaurant through Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

This is one of my favorites! There's a reason why Tune Inn has been around for so long The crowd is almost always friendly, servers take the time to learn your name, and drink specials are fantastic, especially for the area. It's a great place to grab a burger or split a couple pitchers of beer with friends. It's also a short walk to the folgers Shakespeare library and is always my first choice for either dinner before or drinks after a show!

We had an hour for some lunch, happened upon this little bar. Bar was full, tables empty. We wanted to sit outside, nice day! Burgers were enormous and tasty. Chicken fingers were pretty good too...and we were able to get tater tots!! Had the Philly cheese steak sandwich...not great (non melted American sliced cheese) and the beef slices were heat lamp burnt. Tasted good though . Overall, we'd go back and we were able to make our flight!

I had chicken tenders. They looked great, but they were very dry. Edible, but not impressive. Hubby had beer battered burger. VERY dry. He could not finish the sandwich. Son (12) had a cheese omelette. When asked how it was, his response was "it's an omelette." Daughter (10) had Joe's West Virginia. She gobbled it up, so it must've been pretty good. Good service, good atmosphere. Just not sure I'd return for the food.

We found this place by accident. What a wonderful little location! I had super delicious blueberry pancake breakfast. The coffee was terrific and the waiter was very attentive. My coffee cup was never empty. I loved the decor. Loads of nostalgia along with a wonderful collection of antiques, fire department gear and heads of stuffed wildlife. It was fun just looking around at the walls and it's kitschy collections.

This is a dark pub that would probably be better off sticking to serving drinks. I tried the corned beef hash. The corned beef hash smelled and tasted sour. Fortunately, the eggs and potatoes were okay so I did not have to leave hungry. The waiter was nice but did not come back to check on me once my meal was served. He did not notice that I did not eat the corned beef hash. I will pass on this place the next time.

If you’re here because of Guy Fieri I would definitely recommend Joes West Virginia over the deep fried burger. The bartender server told us we would have to move from the table we close if a larger party came in and seemed annoyed at our request for additional condiments after our food came out. Not the friendliest guy in town but okay… Everything you get here is lathered in grease. You have been warned lol

A real Capitol Hill tradition, since 1947. We had breakfast around 10am. The food was hot and bountiful, the service excellent (there were few customers at that hour), the surroundings very historic. The delightful Susan came to work near the end of our time and, with a nearly empty restaurant, spent some 20 minutes just visiting with us. How special! Will definitely return when in the area again.

Brought family since we found it on DDD's. Probably wouldn't suggest it if you have kids. It's a bar first, restaurant second. Waitress was kind enough, but not really sure what Guy F saw in this place. Maybe it was better 10 years ago when the show was filmed. Gets 3 stars cause of pricing. Best prices in the city for the amount of food you get. Nothing special about anything on the menu.

Horrible customer service. We waited 20 minutes to order drinks. Then after finishing those with, and still not having anyone come take our order, we waited another 10 minutes for our check. Eventually we had to walk to the front and corner the waitress at the bar, just to get our check. I would never go back here. Just an expectedly bad ending to an annoying trip to DC.

Tune Inn is your perfect dive bar. Like with any dive bar, you come here for the greasy food and great beer, not for the service or for any sophistication whatsoever. I ordered the beer battered hamburger and my friend ordered the pastrami. They were both extremely greasy but tasty. I would come back again for Happy Hour and to try out their beer selection.

So glad I stumbled across this place! I have been here two days in a row for lunch now! Working in DC Government this place has a great family, friendly, small town, neighborhood bar with great food type Atmosphere in the middle of one of the busiest areas in DC. Develop a great place to get away for a moment and just relax!! Definitely my new DC spot!!!

The breakfast menu offers a large selection and the food was very good. Their gravy was made in house and we'll seasoned. Their potatoes were also prepared well as we're the eggs. The "local bar" decor (fishing trophies, family pictures, etc.) add to the rustic appeal. A definite departure from the typical Capitol Hill fare worth your consideration.

Food was decent , especially Mozzarella sticks. i had the guy fiery burger which I would pass on and just get the tune burger next time. The football game was so loud I couldn't even hear myself think. Once ravens came on screen off went the volume. I had to laugh so don't go unless huge redskins fan and don't want to talk to person you are with

Definitely has the nice Dive Bar feel. Some real old timers drinking at the bar but always a good time. The deep fried cheeseburger is actually really good. Also, the salmon which we had on two visits was uncommonly good. Only downside is this is not a bar where you would like to order a medium to well-crafted cocktail. They don't go for that

We had a blast EXCEPT--it's pretty obvious it is a local favorite hangout, such that as non-regulars our group was not appreciated. Even the cranky old bartenders were disgruntled-openly. We were a party of careerists working within 8 blocks, but the $300 business not appreciated. Maybe someone will go for a breakfast, but not happy hours.

Second time I had been here, loved it the first time. This time just fell short for some reason. The food was either bland, my case, or way to spicy, my wife. The new molten lava is also alittle to be desired. The ice cream was freezer burnt, the brownie hard burn crust on the bottom with luke warm center. Really miss the fried cheesecake!

Skip it. Absolutely skip it. We got the chicken balls and they were still frozen in the middle. One of us got the fried burger. It was nothung special. I got the crank cake sandwich. It tasted like nothing. This place was such a disappointment. There are much, much better places near by. Don't waste your time and money here.

I'm a long time fan of the Tune Inn, but it seems the place has definitely lost a step. My last two lunches there were thoroughly inedible. James is working himself to death all alone, so service is lacking but it's the best one guy can do working a full restaurant alone. Management needs to take a step back and reevaluate.

This has become my go-to lunch spot since the Hawk n' Dove was become an over-priced tourist trap. The Tune Inn makes a great BLT, and you'll see the same crew tending bar and serving the tables each day, which gives the place a homey feel. The prices are right too---the wide menu has a lot of dishes that are under $10.

We tried this place for the first time while visiting DC. The food was fabulous and the server was even better. We definitely recommend!

Good, basic, well priced food. You know how there's cheap diner food that makes your stomach hurt even though it tastes good? This is NOT that, thank goodness. The ingredients are good, and the cooking is done such that food is hearty and filling without being a grease bomb. A great place to grab lunch for under $10

We found this place via Diners drive inns and dives. I had the beer battered burger it was very good. My wife had a the Tune inn burger also very good. The best were the home made mozzarella cheese sticks Awesome a must have if you go. The place was just like I pictured a joint should be from the show. Nice Dive!

Great bar with more affordable prices (particularly considering how close it is to the national mall). It doesn't fit the ambience of other restaraunts & bars in the general vicinity - it's a nice little escape from the hustle & bustle of that area, and it feels casual (in a genuine rather than contrived sense)

I had high hopes for this place.. Service was okay, my table hadn't been wiped down after the last person so it had crumbs from the previous meal. I had the French Dip. Very Blan. Not Good, reminded me of something 7-11 would make. Definitely Wouldn't order it again. Should have ordered one of the specials.

This place was fantastic! The food was great, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The food is reasonably priced and doesnt take too long to get out to you. The staff seem to be on a first name basis with the regulars, and knew that I hadn't been there before. I will definitely go there again.

Friendly neighborhood spot. Standard bar food with plenty of fried food. The fried cheese always wins. The street parking is good if you time it right. Popular with folks that work overnight shifts. The taps are open early. I never pass on an opportunity to have a few beers at the Tune Inn.

Was in town for a conference and looked up dive bar. Found the best one! Ricky was probably the best bartender I’ve interacted with ever at a bar. Very friendly, personable and all around good guy. Food was great, and they serve breakfast. Highly recommend this place for the simple folks.

Burgers were really good. The beer battered burger was definitely worth coming to this place. Decor was neat and the place was really clean. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were over cooked/burnt and the service was not the greatest. If in DC again would come back for the burger.

Something to take in as both a local and a tourist. This place is famous on the Hill. You never know who you will see here and everyone is chill about it, so don't ask for an autograph. The food is fair and the prices average for a Hill bar. So, go down and enjoy it for all that it is.

Food was sub par...The cheese sticks where good! I had the jalapeño burger it was bland, the tots were nice and crispy. My dinner date had the steak and eggs, said that everything was good except for the grits(they were lumpy and tasteless). The atmosphere was fun I enjoyed myself.

The neighborhood bar for everyone on the hill. Friendly and amazing staff serve good drink and food. If you live in Southeast DC you know the Tune Inn. If you're visiting DC, the breakfast and lunch are awesome to fill you for the day before hitting the monuments and museums.

Cool place within walking distance of the Capitol building. Great atmosphere for a quick dinner and drinks.

So i went with the deep fried tripple D burger. And yeah, its that good. I never has one so when in Rome, right? The other menu items looked goid as well. Its a smaller place with such a great vibe. Its close to the WH and the capital so if you're in area, gotta go here.

Fun historic spot in DC. Food was typical bar food and ok. Mozzarella sticks were enormous.

Tune Inn is a good restaurant with both vegetarian and non vegetarian options. Drinks are served in the bar. The service was prompt. We went there for vegetarian breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. Few of their regular customers were also friendly to us.

The atmosphere is really nice but the food needs a little work. Two of us ordered turkey burgers and they were all too dry and overcooked. The other ordered a regular burger and it was also over cooked. Our sides (gravy tots and potato skins) were extremely bland.

Had a great experience here. Our server was attentive and the food was great.

Wings are as good as I have had anywhere. Nice folks, local beers on tap, everything a neighborhood joint anywhere should be.

It's a typical bar. The wings were mediocre but the atmosphere was wonderful and the drinks were really good and well priced

Stopped in on Easter Sunday for breakfast as it was open when not much else was. Interesting place. Tiny, yet an eclectic group of regulars. Recommend a visit. Don't let the small street front, dark lighting and the stone faced bartender scare you off.

Super friendly service. Great atmosphere. Mozzarella sticks are huge! The breakfast quesadillas are delicious. The burger was great with huge slices of pickle. Recommend giving this place a shot. The pancake was the size of my plate and perfect.

Service and atmosphere was great but unfortunately after I left the business made unauthorized changes on my credit card…DO NOT PAY WITH CREDIT PAY IN CASH IF YOU CAN‼️

Service was perfect! We had crab cake and pulled pork sandwiches, which were both amazing. Super flavorful and tender. Choice of craft beers were also delicious. The atmosphere was nice inside so definitely a recommend if you’re in Washington!!

They serve food late, with prices that aren't crazy given their location. The loaded fries are divine and worth a visit all by themselves. One of the few places in DC that can actually claim dive status. Beware the Hill staffers though!

Stopped in for a quick bite service was okay as we watched our waitress on her phone instead of filling our glasses, but the food was good. Overall I would stop in again sometime but will not race back there because of service.

This place is a DC institution. The burgers are legit and it's also just a great bar to hang out at and drink beer and maybe have some chicken wings. If you are visiting this is a must visit and if you live here then you know.

The food was good once it arrived. I’m not sure if we caught the waiter on a bad day or if he’s always unorganized and rude. Either way, you should be prepared to wait 45 mins to an hour for your burgers after you order them.

Although it was definitely a pub atmosphere we were quite comfortable their with our kids! We all enjoyed our dinner after a long day of site seeing and we had a very nice waitress! We will return on our next visit!

Being from Central Ohio I know comfort food. This is comfort food at its finest. I happened in for "Turkey Tues" and it was fantastic - just like Thanksgiving leftovers. Service was personable and very attentive.

This place is awesome! Staff are very friendly and the Tune Inn has much history inside. The food is amazing. Must have are the mozzarella sticks The marinara sauce is delicious. The burgers are also delicious.
