Please hire a more competent and efficient staff. Due to their lack of time management and lack of general knowledge of how registers in retail work, I spent over $350 and wasted an ENTIRE afternoon (2:30pm-9:00pm). Mind you, they close at 7 and I was promised my car by Close of Business because their installer (i e. Their GM had to leave early this day, leaving his two lower level employees to run the store). I needed a tow hitch installed and to obtain a trailer in order to move. This is an overall upset and worst uhaul experience I've had by far. I was advised ahead of time that there would be wait, which I acknowledged as okay and would not have a problem dropping my vehicle off and coming back to get it. However about an hour prior to closing, I still had not received any call or update regarding the status of my truck. So I call, still no answer. Another store operator answers, she is assisting in handling this stores calls, and reaches out to no avail. She then advises me that she will send them a message via their internal system and has left a voicemail asking them the call me to update me on the status of the install. I decide to leave and head up to the shop in order to make it before their clsoing time of 7pm. I arrived there about 5 minutes to close and STILL had not received a phone call from anyone from the store about my truck being ready for pick up. Over an hour and 45 minutes AFTER the store closes, it was finally done. During my waiting time I asked the gentleman (3 times) that was working in the store, as Christopher worked on my car, if I could go ahead and pay for the trailer prior to the install being done to avoid any confusion at the end of this transaction. Aaaand because I have worked in retail I know that on most instances, the registers shut down after a certain time and there's nothing that can be done until the store reopens. He then told me that this wouldnt be an issue, that Christopher would be able to assist once he was done with the install. This was far from the truth, as apparently uhaul registers are as I expected, closed automatically after a certain time. Due to my time contraints, I am now having to make multiple trips from my apt to a hotel to move my things to a secure location (hotel), pay for this hotel overnight and completely alter my travel plans costing money I unfortunately dont have. This may not seem like an issue to most but 1) I attempted to avoid this issue when I first got there by asking to pay for everything up front and was told that I couldnt as trailers we to be paid for upon pickup and not before, then asked twice prior to Christopher's coworker advising me that Christopher would handle everything once the install was complete 2) this install took over almost 7 hrs to complete and 3)all of this couldve been avoided with the proper knowledge and training. I will be seeking a refund and will NEVER refer anyone to this location.

Our original conversation with the store manager was very pleasant, but that's pretty much the only positive thing we can say. We went to the store to see about getting a hitch installed. The store manager provided a quote, swiped our credit card, and said we could call if we'd like to move forward with the order. We called 2 hours later and were transferred to the call center, where the representative said that they would go ahead and order the part and set up an appointment for us to come in last Friday. The Thursday before the appointment, I called to confirm the appointment only to find out that we were not on the schedule and that they had never even ordered the part. After going around in circles, we finally got a call back from someone that actually *works* at the store who said they would go ahead and order it, but that we'd need to pay additional for expedited shipping in order to get the part by the date we needed it, which is this Wednesday. We told him we didn't feel that we should be responsible to pay additional for shipping when it was their error, and he said that it was out of his control and he'd have the store manager call me Friday to see what he can do. No call Friday, so I called and left him a message with the call center. After still not getting a call by Monday, I called them again - again speaking with the call center. They stated that the part had arrived at the store and that we had been assigned an appointment for this Friday - which is two days too late for us. I had never been called before they scheduled this appointment to see if it was okay, and so I asked again if the store manager would return my call. After still not receiving a call back from the store manager by today (Tuesday) and leaving yet another unreturned message, I can only assume they have no interest in dealing with us. And since I am always automatically transferred to a call center instead of being able to speak with a person who works at the store, I guess you can allow this review to be my notification that we now have reached a shared disinterest in doing business with U-Haul. So, no, I wouldn’t recommend attempting to do business with this location. Their type of “service” is completely unprofessional.

Very unprofessional with employees who dont know about their own products they sell. The one guy was very arumenitive, I couldn't get a word in. All I wanted to know more about the bed covers they sell, the label didnt provide enough information and this was my first time using uhaul. Apparently he thought I could not read , grabbed the product and just read off of it. Does the employee really need to treat customers in a condescending tone, and then his behavior was very aggressive. After , I just kept quiet, but folks like him have to get the last word and in the same breath would say "I give great customer service " the other employee also lacked knowledge about the products and services they sell. As someone who never used uhaul services before, I dont think there is nothing wrong with simple questions about your products, services, policies, or process. Uhaul management, there should be be training to be more competant and have capabilities in handling customer inquiries. Also, product knowledge should be also made as an investment, having an employee represent your brand with a clueless self serving attitude will eventually affect your bottom line. You have stakeholders that have a vested interest in your organization. Those with poor behaviors and attitudes, including lack of KSAs, do you no justice in the long run. For those who are new, don't bother unless you don't need to understand how anything works and just want to pay and go, then this is the place for you. Otherwise, most customers do not have time for the foolishness, but I'm sure those employees dont care...a better approach needs to happen to change behaviors for a better culture.

Do not do business here! They definitely do not have their stuff together, especially when it comes to billing! My wife and I rented a storage unit here nearly a year ago. We just attached a credit card to the account and got auto-billed (as you do when you access storage infrequently). About 6montha back, I got a notice that my payment was late. What?!? I’m being auto-billed. How can a payment be late? So, I went in and talked to the guy at the desk. Problem corrected. Auto-billing is now working again. Yesterday I get a call from U-haul, “Sir, your payment is 2 weeks late, would you like to pay it now?” How can it be two weeks late? I am setup on auto-bill! “Would you like us to charge the card you have on file?” Yes! That’s kind of the point of auto-billing! Now, this morning, I go to access my storage unit to get my gear for a fishing trip. And guess what? It’s got a lock with a red tag on it! I’ve got a receipt for payment and yet there is a lock and a tag on my unit. Beautiful! So, I call the after hour manager. He doesn’t pick up and he doesn’t call back. I considered just breaking that little flimsy lock they had on it (didn’t have bolt cutters). But their doors are kinda flimsy and After tugging and and smacking it, I get concerned that the door might break before the lock. So, I leave without my gear. Now I am looking at nearby storage units so I can give my business to one of their competitors.

Today was my second time trying to make use of their services and this is the second time we have been completely neglected by the staff. My first experience was the day my roommates and I were moving out of our college dorm, upon arrival we were told our unit had been sold. After hours of fighting over the phone, we were finally given another unit, which they then tried to up charge us for, even though Uhaul breached our contract. After this incident, today we tried to move our stuff out of the unit to be able to move into our new dorm at 8am. We came a day earlier to talk to the staff to let them know how important it was for this to go smoothly since we would be picking up our van at 7am and they do not open until 9am. Upon our arrival at 7am, a key to a van was left for us, but this van was sandwiched between two other vans, leaving us absolutely no room to get it out to drive. When calling for help, we were told to provide a deed to our home, a passport, or 2 forms of verification. They then asked for the phone numbers of 2 people, friends or family, that can talk about our character at 7:30 in the morning. I am currently waiting for the manager to show up with a different key to a van, well past my move in time. Happy to say we will never be considered a Uhaul customer again

This location has routinely provided excellent service of rental vehicles during my moves around Ybor and Tampa. The staff has always gone above and beyond to make things easier for me. Most recently I had reserved a car towing carrier at a u-haul affiliate location near Ybor and after a painful check-in process and loading my car onto it we discovered the straps were torn and it was not usable. We immediately went to this u-haul location where we were blessed with an excellent stock of rental equipment and the presence of Marvin. He got us lined up to check out a new car towing carrier in minutes and proceeded to direct our two vehicles and the rental car towing carrier throughout the busy storage lot and aided tremendously in attaching the carrier to our truck and loading the car onto the carrier. It was a hot day and he was very active and on his hands and knees breaking a sweat to make sure we were safe and taken care of. He also provided safety information on utilizing this rental. During all of this he demonstrated persistent kindness and remarkable customer service skills. He kept us on schedule for our cross-country road trip and lifted our spirits after our negative experience at a u-haul affiliate location. Cheers to Marvin and the u-haul ybor team!

When I rented a trolley (or whatever it's called) and they charged me a late fee which I was surprised because my boyfriend said he dropped it off on time. I submitted a claim to be reviewed and spoke with the manager. This guy, wooooooooow. The fact that he has that voice which every sentence sounds like a question (which I hate) was bad but that wasn't my problem. He interrupted me when I was about to ask questions. When I explained my side of the story he spoke to me like I did something wrong to him. I was calmly trying to get some facts and asked if maybe there was a camera to see what had happen. His response "There are no cameras on that side of the drop off, and there's no need to check." Well excuse me, if I (as a customer) have doubts and want some verification. My boyfriend might have lied to me, and I paid a late fee that wasn't bad because of his lazy ass, but I would have gladly let it go if it wasn't for the douche bag manager at this place. Moral of the story, THIS GUY IS A D. I will go out of my way to never use this service again.

I want to give the biggest THANK YOU to Tyra! I came in with so many issues from moving from Daytona Beach to Tampa. It was a very big headache. But, Tyra was there to help me from the beginning. I called her to let her know I was coming and some issues came up, she said "It's okay, come in and we will figure it out". When arriving there she was very friendly and helpful with all my needs. She didn't treat me like a regular customer, she treated me like a friend like someone she cared about. I had a 26ft truck that I had to unload myself and I was not happy at all. I got everything unload but I struggled with the couch and she even came upstairs in my storage unit to help me get it through the door. Now that right there is excellent customer service. That is going above and beyond! I have been using uhaul for several years now and Tyra is the exact reason why I will continue using Uhaul services for many more years! Kevin was great as well! There is a great team at that location! Keep up the hard work!

My partner in life has kept up payments on a storage unit at the Ybor City U-Haul since he moved north to New England to be with me more than two decades ago. Without his knowledge or consent, some time ago they altered his contract so that payments mailed at the same time he has always sent them are now considered past due and they thus incur a late charge every time he pays. So far there has been no helpful response to our attempts to reason with them and get them to understand that disabled people on fixed disability stipends can only make payments after their monthly checks are in. We are willing to pay what he currently owes, so as not to lose his possessions, but just want them to keep him on a payment schedule that doesn't monthly overcharge him. If there were a way we could get down there, we'd close out that storage unit, never do business with them again and warn anyone else who thinks they may need storage there long term, you could be scammed out of a great deal of money!

I called the store for general information. The lady that answered would no tell me anything. She wanted my phone number name and then demanded a credit card number before she would answer any questions. That being said I told her that I used to work for uhaul and I formed her that they have general quote prices she said no we don't and proceeded to get mad. So I ended the call with her and called another store. The young lady that answered the phone there told me just what I wanted to know, now understand that I understand prices change from location to location and state to state but all store have that general pricing I just wanted to know how much they have change since I last used a uhaul truck

I wanted to go out of my way to post a review to specifically mention Jean D. and what an amazing asset he is to this company. As soon as I walked in, there were already 3 people ahead of me but he took care of them so fast and efficiently that it took less than 20 minutes for me to be assisted. He was very polite and constantly reassured us that he would be right with us as he ran in and out of the store making sure everyone was helped as fast as possible. He was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the whole process! I can honestly say that this was one of the best experiences I have had at a UHaul and we will definitely be coming to this location for any future moving needs!

This Uhaul at this location has bad customer service, I came in today 7am for a refill of propane, the lady manager is and can be a little abrasive. I told her I needed a refill of propane for my food truck business, she told me that she was not doing propane til noon because she has a lot of other things to do. I was extremely annoyed because this wasn’t the first time I was turned away for service other than being out of something. So I had to drive another 15 miles in traffic in the opposite direction to get refilled which took me 2 hours in all to get back so I can open up my food truck. I must say I will not be going back I will take my hard earned money elsewhere.

I go to this location frequently to get propane tanks filled, because they are near my workplace. Unfortunately, they often don't have enough people on staff certified to fill propane. So it is always hit-or-miss whether I'll actually be able to get service. A couple of nights ago, when I went there, one of the certified guys was there, but he told me that he had already locked up the propane dispenser. That was at 6:40pm, so although they don't close until 7:00pm, he refused to give service. I hope the owners are aware they lost a sale that night, and will lose many future sales because of that. For reference, I purchase about $400 of propane from U-Haul each year.

Everything went smoothly until it time to drop off and get the vehicle inspected. Humberto or whatever his name is starts to do a walk around the truck and tells me that there’s a scratch that wasn’t there prior to my pick up and that he will have to charge me for it. After I told him that I haven’t done any damage to the vehicle and to please double check before accusing me, he then tells me “oh the other guy says that scratch was there already”.... OHHH yeah. Get it together. Make accurate reports. This dude was so quick to want to charge me for their own mess ups. They want to get your money any way they can. I would not recommend this location due to STAFF.

Came here to rent a trailer for my truck. They refused to tell me which trailer hitch I needed to buy (why??) LOL. Kind of ridiculous, as I was buying it from them right there in the store. The last time I came here to rent a truck, they refused because I don't have 2 cell phone numbers (again, why??). Not sure what's wrong with this uhual. Never had any problems at other locations. I just go to home depot down the street now. They helped me pick the right hitch and set it up, and hooked up the trailer. Definitely just go to home depot down the street.

The associate in the Office named Marvin, flat out refused to rent a van to me. He stated that it was right before close time and that was a red flag for him. He told me at first that I could rent the van but that I would need to bring it back! Which I already planned on doing. I told him that it was no problem to return it back and he then said Nope not renting to you!! The lack of professionalism was amazing. Anyone reading this please find another Uhaul. This place doesn’t value their customers.

Do not return trailers to this location! I returned the trailer at 4:45PM on Sunday, the guy at the office told me to leave it in the front he will check it in and I'll get an email. The trailer was still not checked in by 6PM Monday and the location wouldn't take phone calls. I had to drive there, get the guy to find the trailer and actually check it in, so I wouldn't be charged for another day. This is unacceptable.

Location is good if you are flying into Tampa and want to pick up moving equipment, short trip from TPA and therefore Uber is reasonable. The inventory appears good and employees are helpful. Driving a large van out of there, if you are not used to it, can be a bit of a challenge. Very easy to work with and helpful if you need to extend your rental time. Communications are good. I’m very bothered how the general manager treated me and my wife coming to rent a uhaul that was reserved MONTHS before hand. We had our luggage in our hands and had just got off our flight and we went there so we could get our mover van. She completely bailed on us and pulled the plug, very rude and said that we don’t need it as much as other people.

My only complaint about this location is the employee didn't show up until 9am on the dot to open up so by the time he was able to get his computers to load up it was already 9:05am with a long line of customers all the way back to the door they should be like other businesses show up 15 minutes before opening to get everything ready

Tire blew on trailer on 275 coming through Tampa. Saw the U-HAUL water tower like a Beacon and headed that way. After making a few calls we found a tire place that had a replacement. The staff at U-Haul let us park Our trailer while we went to get replacement tire and Even helped us change it. Thank You Christopher for All the Help.

We don't recommend this location or UHaul. Our company who has used UHaul for almost a decade has moved our business to a different company because the Ybor manager was completely defensive and loud when we were just trying figure out an error. Corporate was no help and ignored us too. Go to Penske at Home Depot N Dale or by 56th.

This was the worst experience and unbelievable amount of wait time with no service. I waited a hour to get propane and since the two males could not proerly handle 2 customers in front of me i had to leave the location. Complete waste of time and very poor customer service.

Don't rent around the beginning of the month. I rented a cargo van and had to bomb it for fleas and roaches before I could use it. And they still tried charging me $400. Wonder why I went to budget last time. And will go three for any further rental needs.
