Avoid the E.R at all costs! So I had a bad reaction with milk of magnesium and whatever i ate earlier in the day yesterday. I woke up bloated and completely dehydrated. I was going to begin prep for a colonoscopy that I am no longer having because of the magnesium reaction. I threw up somewhere around 30 times from 9am to 12 and by the last time I could no longer walk I called 911. The ambulance came. A short caucasian women and a tall black Male brought me in. The short lady was nice and caring the tall gentlemen was rude and very bothered my how much pain I was in. But not the end of world. I arrived to U of I and a brunette with short hair a little on the heavy set side was doing my check in. And it was such a bad experience. She was rude and so sarcastic. Mocking me . And talking as if I was a 3 year old extremely sarcastic. She made me feel so much worse. The only thing ppl were concerned about was my insurance. I'm a union electrician so I have very good insurance. I never received a room or nothing They treated me in the hallway up against the nurses desk. One doctor was nice and everyone else was so in there own world. I heard people screaming in pain and everyone at the nurses desk was just chatting about social events. Nothing work related! Everyone is laughing flirting having a good ol time! I was so nauseated and the only person in my view was a women security guard and she was eating the whole time. The food made me so much more nauseated. She had flaming hot cheetos then honey barbecue wings and then a bag of cookies. The smell of wings made me throw up again. Overall I'm very thankful the doctor targeted the stomach pain and stopped the nausea but it took 2 hours for them to give me medicine while I laid there moaning and groaning in the middle of the hall. Completely unprofessional. The conversations at the nurses desk were so personal and private. Almost as if they could care less about the ppl. They were laughing and making jokes about a man screaming in pain! Saying hes being dramatic. I will never go here again!!!! Go anywhere else. I had better treatment at county hospitals!! The one star is for the women who gave me the fluids and nausea medicine. But even her, when I asked for more ice chips because of the dehydration she would joke and say "were gonna start charging you for them" I can take a joke but u see me at a 10/10 in pain it's so wierd you think I would wanna joke at the moment. I'm a high voltage electrician. We build hospitals from ground up all over chicago. It's a shame how you can be treated in return. I was stuck in the hallway with the speaker over my head and it was a constant loud static the whole time. Worst experience ever all around!

I'm patient at Carle hospital in Champaign Illinois. I was seen at UIC Saturday 9/2/2023 after being referred there from Carle Eye Department. I had been seen in Carle Eye Department that Friday 9/1/2023 and was diagnosed with a horseshoe retinal tear and advised that I needed a laser procedure to prevent my tear from becoming a detachment. With it being Friday and Labor Day the following Monday, Carle would not have an ophthalmologist available to do the procedure until Tuesday. To prevent detachment I was advised by the physician I saw at carle to NOT wait, he insisted that a retinal tear is urgent and that I should drive 2-2 1/2 from where I live to Northwestern or UIC to be seen in the ER where they would be able to do the laser procedure. I chose UIC. After waiting almost 5 hrs (I understand it's an ER so no complaints there) I was seen by who I assume to be 3 different residents or students and whomever supervises them and was told that I did not have a retinal tear and sent on my way. My discharge papers say I was seen by Pavitra Kotini Shah, MD. After being seen at UIC and not treated for what I was sent there for I followed up with another physician at Carle Eye Department on 9/14/23 who confirmed that I in fact DID have a horseshoe retinal tear exactly where the previous physician said I did. Here's my problem. My tear is now repaired and I'm very happy it did not graduate to detachment. But after having to wait almost 2 weeks after my visit at UIC with doctors who were advised of my condition by other professional physicians, and finding out that I did have a tear that they did not treat is unsettling. What if it did become detached? I think it's very unprofessional to be referred by one physician to another and little effort is put in to confirm the diagnosis of the first. Please do better.

The customer service this place has is unbelievable. Actually it’s very believable unfortunately a lot of hospitals have the WORST call center employees. And this is coming from a call center employee, I would never interrupt in the middle of someone explaining why they are calling, I would never speak over someone knowing they are still speaking, I would never continue to speak and completely disregard what the patient has to say, I would never raise my voice at a patient! This is a hospital! The reason a lot of us are calling are because we are having health problems, you would think the call center would be more attentive and caring not harsh and making the experience 10x worse. After the first two very rude, inhospitable, interrupting women I talked to, I finally built up the courage to call again(I felt extremely discouraged and wanted to cry after those phone calls; keep in mind I never yelled at them I was never being rude I have no idea why both these ladies had such an attitude with me) i got connected to a VERY nice lady, who listened to me, noticed I was a down and asked what she could do to help. And she did just that. Helped. Like the other two should’ve done in the first place. I wish I remembered her name she was a breath of fresh air. Train your employees to be respectful, nobody calling a hospital should feel this way. Check the phone calls more often and make sure your employees are getting reprimanded for bad behavior while speaking with patients. New and old employees.

2023 Update... Go somewhere else for compassionate cancer doctors. Other doctors are fine. This still goes on throughout the entire hospital... 1. Staff and the people in the waiting area do not wear masks, wear them wrong or eat, of course without masks, in the waiting rooms and patient areas. This behavior could result in horrible outbreak of sickness that would kill all the immuno-compromised patients. . 2 The cheap, blue surgical masks are there for the picking. Dirty hands touch them. But this is true of UI Health, Rush, and some hospitals/clinics I've visited. Cloth masks that offer no protection against Covid or any other highly transmissible deadly disease are worn in the area by patients and staff. A security guard should be placed in that area to ensure that people are wearing the correct PPE gear to prevent disease spread. The staff knows that the cancer patients are severely immunocompromised and could die from a bacteria or virus that spread in that area. I just do not understand the lack of care that is going on at u of I health and now other facilities I've visited. I know that the standard of care for those of African-American descent is horrible across the United States with no one caring whether they live or die. I wanted my mother to go someplace else but she trusts some of the good doctors, nurse practitioners and nurses that she has.

I have extremely bad experience with this hospital, i was suffering from gallstones, i went to uih 6 times because of severe pain and they diagnosed me with " constipation, high stomach acid and abdomen gas" no one of them thought that maybe i need ultrasound to discover what's going on.. Finally i went to another hospital after 11 months of suffering and discovered that my gallbladder was in very bad condition and must be removed. ++++ after giving birth in this hospital ( honestly was very good experience ) i got an IUD insertion in uih university village and it was very bad experience i had a severe pain and very bad cramps, i went to them twice complaining the abnormal pain, they kept telling me that's normal because of IUD!! They did ultrasound after 2 months of insertion and told me that my IUD is not in my uterus any more and it must ba fallen, i kept confirming that I'm very sure it didn't fall but they weren't listening and i got a second IUD insertion.. After 9 month in another hospital, doctors discover that i have 2 IUDes in my body! One in my uterus and the other is outside my uterus and must be removed by surgery !!! WHAAAAT! I relly can't forgive them i was very disappointed and depressed because of that. ++++ my baby has an infentile hemangioma in her eye and uih doctors misdiagnosed her as a cyst.

I love the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System! When I moved back to Chicago in early 2017, I was first attending the University of Chicago Medicine, but after a few billing and medical errors, I decided to transfer my care to UI Health. I was definitely not disappointed. I was trying to get the work up completed for a kidney transplant evaluation when they discovered Stage 1 breast cancer in my right breast. Immediately, they took the necessary testing and procedures to treat the problem. I have been treated with the utmost care, respect, kindness and professionalism while I have been both an in-patient and out-patient client. The doctors and nurses are very knowledgeable and caring, and everyone works as a team. It is the best organized hospital I have been to, and I have been to about five hospitals on my healing journey. I highly recommend UI Health and Hospital Systems. I must add here that my accolades above cannot be given to their outpatient dialysis unit. Twice, someone has added a misdiagnosis of diabetes on my records and I have had to keep wasting to to have it removed. Very disappointed with this clinic and its ability to accurately keep records. They won't acknowledge any records that come from other hospitals either.

There's not enough words on how thankful I am for my team here. I fought for 17 months to be heard about endometriosis. UW Health and Mercyhealth did nothing but dehumanize me by reading somatization disorder accusations on MyChart. On January 25, 2022 I met Dr. Catherine Wheatley. I didn't need to explain much because she understood the pain I was in. We agreed on the Mirena IUD during my surgery so that I was isn't in pain. She ordered a saline infusion sonohystogram to get a look inside before my laparoscopy. At our follow up appointment she gave me the best news that she was squeezing me in for surgery on May 19, 2022. In the pre op room I had happy tears telling the nurse I'm so close to having my quality of life back. My UI health urogynecologist, Dr. Kobak told me that if Dr. Wheatley needed him, he would come on emergency surgery whether he was on call or not. After my post op, Dr. Wheatley moved up so Dr. Nathan King took her place. Dr. King is just as good and he recommends the best care. They all have their hearts in the right place. I'd like to thank my GI specialist here also since I had to fire my lazy Mercyhealth GI. UI Health ended up finding a stomach polyp and now I feel better from that.

This place is a nightmare. I can't get a hold of any of my doctors. I've needed tests & orders are put in, but it's a known fact according to referral staff at my primary doctors to get anything done, because the don't respond. Prior authorizations are never completed, questions never answered or responded to. The care "team" won't talk to each other. Tests I was told I need to be ordered by the doctor's are never ordered, who never respond, to order the tests they said I needed and would order at my appointments... Then as said before no one will respond to the prior auth from my insurance, how is my insurance company more reliable than my doctors?! Honestly what's the point of going to this place? It's a full time job to go here. I also waited for over an hour to see the specialists past my appointment several times, where I have to go through hell to find doctor in break rooms talking to nurses eating & laughing..... I have a chronic illness that's continuing to progress, to the point of permanent damage. I put in my maximum effort to chase these doctors, I drive three hours to see these specific specialists, for what reason? This place is hell......

I understand that the pandemic has changed a lot of things and especially in the medical field. I really have to say how scary things really are for UIC when it comes to having sufficient techs for woman to have a mammogram and an ultrasound. I have had to wait an unbelievable amount of time to just schedule my mammograms and today I tried to schedule an appointment to get in an depth exam for my breasts because my breasts are full of density and cysts . I was told that the next available appointment was in November. Mind you we are in April. This really is scary for the simple fact that I had a mammogram In January and I have to wait till November practically when my yearly mammogram is due. Aren't they always telling woman to schedule mammograms for preventive care, ITS AWFUL to think that woman have to wait almost a year to have an available appointment to schedule them. Finding breast cancer early is very detrimental for us woman. I have known woman who waited 3 months and even 6 months past their yearly mammogram and have been diagnosed with aggressive forms of breast cancer. I hope that this changes soon. Sincerly, A very concerned patient

In the past I have had a couple really serious health issues. Two nights ago I was feeling not so well. I went to the U of IL. Hospital E.R. After being triaged and having lab work performed I was instructed to go back into the waiting room. While waiting for my results (hoping my heart and lungs is ok) one of the nurses sitting behind the partition was rather rude which caused me to correct and check her (without using profanities) and because she could she called security and had him escort me out of the hospital without I knowing if I needed to see a cardiologist and/or a blood-thinner. I’ve come to the conclusion these hospitals use “traveling nurses” who travel the map of America providing mediocre healthcare and even less respect to their patients. Every since “ObamaCare” became about the medical industry has sunk to a really low place and the only ppl who has benefited from Obama-Care is the HNO’s, doctors, and nurses. America’s healthcare system isn’t about healthcare it’s about profits and it is at the expense of the patients.

I can only speak for the third floor surgicenter, as that is the extent of my experience with this hospital. Julia Corcoran is a wonderful, experienced surgeon, and I highly recommend her. The nurses and staff who took care of me were all kind, accomodating, and willing to move at my pace, which was especially nice because I was quite woozy from the anesthesia after my outpatient procedure. They waited until I was truly ready before they sent me home, and Tyrone, who brought me outside to the car in a wheelchair, was a very gentle navigator. The ride didn’t feel bumpy at all. I’m only docking a star for a slight lack of communication, as Dr. Corcoran told me not to shower until after my post-op appointment the week following my operation, while a nurse told me I could shower upon getting home from my procedure. I am, of course, listening to my doctor. Overall, this was a great experience, especially for my first surgery. Way less nervewracking than I expected it to be. Hospitality goes a long way.

(5/5) I had the privilege of delivering my baby at UI Health Hospital on 8/25/22 and I must say that it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Despite the unexpected turn of events that led to an emergency c-section, the care and support provided by the hospital staff, particularly the nurses and my doctor, Dr. Tamika, were nothing short of exceptional. I am incredibly grateful for the positive environment and remarkable care I received throughout my stay. From the moment I arrived at UI Health, I was greeted warmly and made to feel comfortable. The nurses on duty were friendly, compassionate, and went above and beyond to ensure I felt at ease. Their knowledge and expertise were evident, as they provided clear explanations and guided me through the entire labor and delivery process. Even during the stressful moments leading up to the c-section, their calming presence and reassurance were invaluable. Thank you, UI Health, for making my experience a positive and memorable one.

I’m posting this from the ER. I’m here with my partner who was referred from the Mile Square Urgent Care Clinic. There are so few chairs that anyone who isn’t a patient has been asked repeatedly to stand, so I’ve mostly been standing for 3 hours with no word of when we’ll be seen. But there are also patients standing. Someone brought a camp chair. Someone yells a name in a pinched voice from the corner of the waiting room, but the shape of the room makes it difficult to hear the name on the other side, making people wonder if their name has been called and if they’re waiting in vain. It seems reasonable that the person calling names could take five steps forward to ensure everyone hears the name called. And then imagine if the name caller pronounced it wrong. And then imagine that you’re experiencing the pain and discomfort of a medical emergency and enduring this nonsense. World-class American healthcare.

I had surgery at UIC Hospital in February 2022, approximately 7 months later I am in more pain than I was pre-surgery. I had a hysteroscopy procedure and the full fibroid was not removed- 75% of the fibroid is still in me per the doctor's update after my post-surgery appointment. This procedure was $38,000 with my portion being $5,000. I am expected to pay this bill while this surgery procedure didn't correct my issue and as I sit here and type this my pain level is beyond a level 10 while being in menstrual cycle. I am still anemic for to the fibroid, still having excessive bleeding, and now experiencing more pain. I took 10 Aleve in a 9 hour span and still in pain. A month or two ago they prescribed me Tylenol with codeine and this still didn't help. My insurance lapsed so I cannot get a full hysterectomy at this time but the thought of the 1st surgery not being successful is mind boggling and the price.

Update: Kicked me as a patient and threw narcotics at me as a courtesy after I did all their trials and tests for a procedure. I was told trial was a success then they dropped me. Have lied to me, on my med records and to my face and I have full proof of it all. Entire Neuro staff needs retrained. You ruined my entire life. Run people please just run. Their neuros just wanna send you to another hospital after they put you thru hell for months. I wish I could give this place negative stars. Wouldn't bring my dog here. Wait time is crazy for people in real need. Rude staff, needs to be trained on how to talk to people and how to have some empathy. Only reason I came here is because my surgeon said I needed a test asap and to please go to that er. Never again. 10 to 13 hour waits.....unexceptable. Reception is rude to the max when asked anything. Avoid all depts in this travesty of a "hospital" if you can.

My mom was hospitalized here I would like to say around October of last year and let me tell you guys she came frm two different hospitals where they did not give her any hopes. My mom has cirrosis (liver fatty) despite the rare condition, because they don’t know why she had it, she got treated very very kindly and ASAP! The nurses all helped me get her off my truck into a wheelchair and were very helpful! The doctor that saw her in the ER rushed to save her life. To not make this review longer they gave her a new liver! This hospital saved her life!!!! And I am so thankful that I would do it all over again! So I highly recommend this hospital! Matter of fact in honor of my mother and the hospital the staff and all of them I’m soon going to be a mother for the 4th time but this time I’ll be giving birth @ this hospital ❤️ Thank you everyone @ UIC!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful Chicago (Homeschooling Mama)

This hospital uses patients as lab equipment's my mom almost died at the hospital. Giving patients medicine their allergic to not treating what condition that is obvious. Waiting to see what how far viral and bacterial infection would go. Lying and altering medical records to meet their agenda. Social worker Martin Finnegan, lied on patients and threaten to blacklist family members for standing up for patient. Social worker still sending out false statements about patients after being discharged. 1 Nursing manager micromanages her nurse but cause more harm then good. Ease drops and blocks family from speaking up for patients. Care manager Kathy feels she can speak to family members any way she wants to. Patient experience or whatever the department is called. Was not help and instead of actually advocating for the patients the young lady turned into a yes ma'am for the hospital.

  • Noemi Casarrubias

I really hated my birth experience in this hospital! I was told every minute by my RN I wasn’t going to be able to have my baby if I didn’t take The epidural shot. After giving in they took an hour inserting the shot and even change shifts when giving me the shot!! I feel like no mother should hear that while trying to give birth to her child naturally , as a nurse you should encourage the mother to keep on going allowing her to know that she has God‘s will in power to push the baby out without any drugs. Thanks for the epidural my babies hard try and get up dropping significantly! I will never come to birth my next child to this hospital. The nurses on labor and delivery were completely amazing and really helped me with my breast-feeding experience on the other hand.

  • Panda The Panda Bear

Horrible Nurses, Doctors and staff Id rather die at home! Came in with sepsis line infection. My whole stay nurses on all floors just slung IV tubing around like nothing no cleaning or preventing any kind of infection. When in IR was told how important it is to keep port clean. Yet your nurse unhooks me to go to the bathroom and lays it on the bed where I was just laying down on with no cap or anything then proceeded to tell them I have alot of anxiety and IR “Doctor “ is yelling at me while placing new line in bravo great professional doctor. Yet proceed to keeping me here when they are putting me at more risk while here then at home because they didn’t order my medication on time also dr is no where ever to be seen very unprofessional again rather die at home

  • Gia Elie

This hospital used to have a good ER System. Now, it has ZERO care and basic consideration for the patient. If you're thristy, no vending machine for a water or soda. No place to get a bag of chips if your hungry. No plugs if you need to charge your phone. If you're Cold..a nurse will come to tell you that they will NOT be giving you a simple sheet while they have you wait over 8 HOURS !! No matter what your condition!! They don't even have enough seating for patients. This is a new ER. Why is it smaller than the old one!?!?! It feels like you're at some small town hospital in some poor rural area. Why did they rebuild their ER only to make it a desert for the most basic resources. They have more amenities at a local bus station!!! I wish I was at Cook County.

  • Pedro Solis

This Hospital system is a disorganized mess. I don't have do much to say about the medical staff. The issue seems to be more administrative. During several health issues this hospital has taken upwards of 5 months to give me an appointment, resisted providing out-network refferals (requested due to their clear lack of resources), and has cancelled appointments with 2 hours notice (due to "not being able to find the equipment needed for the procedure" despite me contacting them in advance to ensure they were equipped to resolve the issue). I'm sure the actual medical staff is fine, but you'd be lucky to actually ever see them. I recommend seeking another health provider network that actually has the staff and equipment available to treat its patients.

My father had major surgery. I had to call multiple times to get information. First, they didn't call when he was out of surgery. Then, the nurse at the station told me she was going to call me when he would get to his room, which didn't happen. They discharged him the next day and didn't even give him a wheelchair. He had to walk out by himself! I'm the most frustrated that they gave him low-grade pain killers. For a major surgery?! - 600mg ibuprofen, 375mg acetaminophen? Now he's in major pain. Would the quality be the same if family members were able to come up to the rooms and demanded better quality care? The only good thing that came out of it were the nurses in his care.

  • Christine A

God redo this phony commercial you have out. Jesus Plus Dr's couldn't explain why my father in law drowned in his own fluids and he wasn't on any water pills nor via IV and he went in for high potassium like his rehad sent him in for and they say he didnt come in for that. then took his xrays and heart stopped then 5 shots to revive him and then a trake and then aComa?? Nurses are rude .when I questioned why he was so swollen I said hes not supposed to be like that her reply was hes not supposed to be like this period. Nurses have to be careful when answering because I myself am a healthcare nurse so I knew something went wrong!!!!

  • Stephanie Herrera (stephh3005)

This is the worst hospital ever. DO NOT bring your loved ones here unless you want them to be suffering in pain. These doctors are INCOMPETENT. All they did was cause my dad pain and torture. We wanted him to go on peace but they fail in doing so. We asked all the right questions but they gave us nothing but wrong answers. We waited over 12 hours for my dad to pass after disconnecting everything simply because they failed to inform us that the only thing keeping him alive was the ventilator which we had asked questions about . My dad was in the hospital for 4 long months of discomfort and pain. If I could rate this a 0 I would.

  • jaylydell grayer

This hospital has no clue about taking care of patients. I had a procedure scheduled 4x's because every time I show up they find a way not to do it. I'm basically traveling a hour and a half away to come there. They don't communicate well they have you text for stuff and don't give you the results until you show up at whatever clinic you scheduled for. They have had me come all the way there prep then say we not doing the procedure. The transplant list is a joke. They don't understand that this is someone's life but it's just their job. I would recommend that you stay far away from this hospital unless you really have to

  • Gregory Roberts

Took my daughter there to have her cavities filled. They said I would be there when she woke up but when they brought me to see my daughter she was already up and in pain. They said insurance would cover everything then sent a bill for over a thousand dollars for digestive services when my daughter did not eat anything. I am a single parent and can not pay the bill and they said I do not qualify for financial assistance cause I have insurance but still have to pay over a thousand dollars which was not covered. Do not go to this place and go to a better place that is more caring and do not lie to you.

  • Desto’s Kitchen

I had my first appointment for my pregnancy which was supposed to be a happy time. I was there for literally 7 hours all together for a regular appointment. Then my doctor LAURA DIGIOVANNI was extremely rude, consistently cutting me off not letting me explain anything, and she cared nothing about my concerns. She didn’t send the necessary medicine I needed to heal that she said she was going to send. I also wanted to hear my babies heartbeat and she had an attitude. I practically had to convince her to let me hear. She needs to be DEMOTED or LET GO because she doesn’t care about helping people.

My experience here at this hospital in the Emergency room this year doing Covid 2022 was Good. Waiting time I was in and out after I got all my test’s done. The doctor name Ms.Ross and her nurse’s one was Mary was the best they both took the time never was rude either disrespectful took the time to talk with me and listen to me about my symptoms and the doctor order the test’s that I need it done I truly appreciate her let God always watch over her along with the other doctor’s and nurse’s there doing this Covid-19 keep them all safe . she is Amazing .

On behalf of comfort care patient Johnny Rodgers’ family, your protocol for grieving families does not exude empathy or respect. My small family was called, with urgency, 2 nights in a row to say last goodbyes to our loved one yet he’s still living. The private lobby on the 6th floor was not open to us. We were quiet, the only family available & in need for seating. We moved from the lobby to the cafeteria when asked, then abruptly kicked out & instructed to sit outside. What a way to wait on your loved one to pass away? Sad & worse patient-family experience!

  • dion

Absolutely would never recommend anyone go here during pregnancy. They are extremely inconsiderate. Rush everything overall just don’t seem to care much. My gf was rushed there during a pregnancy emergency. And only one doctor seem to actually care out of our three days. Oh they don’t respect fathers at all, consistently ignorant towards the father. Reports were inaccurate and/or deleted, they never seem to get back to you with answers for anything. They’ll gaslight you if you start to ask too many questions. Do not go here while pregnant please.

  • Entrepreneur401

To long of a wait for emergency room visits, if in pain they don't give you anything til you see a doctor in which could be an hour or more, when making an appointment the desk officials are very rude and don't want to get the necessary information asked in other words don't want to work, want to check your insurance if you loose patients with their ignorance just to tell you they don't except your insurance but you'll get a phone call for a missed appointment they made without informing you because they supposedly don't except your insurance

  • Leslie Martinez

I delivered my son in January here this hospital was soo good in everything they do My pregnancy was complicated by gestational hypertension because all the time I was so nervous at my checkups for my son but thus far the hospital was expetional never let me leave if I had a high bp reading . I had to take meds for it but my delivery was a breeze the nurses are angels each one of them I thank very much I wouldn’t want to deliver at any other hospital . Loved everyone that helped me especially Leah Larson & Mrs.Aswathi Jayaram

  • e Raschke

I called on Saturday with a medical problem . I asked for the Docator on call. They took what my problem was & said that a Doctor on call would call me within 1 hour. I did receive a Doctor on call & was told that he is the Hospital & he would (suposidily) call the other oncall Doctor. I never received my call back. I still have my problem only worse and it is 1:09 PM the next day. I tried calling 2 different phone #'s. The first said they were Closed & the 2 hung up the phone. I think it is time to change Hospitals.

  • Angel Jedlowski

I don’t know how this place has 3 stars over all. From the front desk, to the nurses, to the doctors, everyone I encountered over the month leading up to and during my surgery preparations were amazing. Always informative, always upbeat and made me feel comfortable every step of the way. I had a lot of obstacles in the way of my surgery and they did everything possible to help and make my surgery happen. Would definitely recommend this place for women’s health care and would come back again. 10 out of 10.

  • Miguel Mendez

UI Health has degraded how they care for members. They lose records, enter wrong codes, the doctor's recommendation never reach your file. It's rare to get a call back from a doctor or nurse. The services have dilapidated since the opening of this program. Seems employees are there for the paycheck and not to help people. It's sad, this group has the ability to help so many members. Requires a review of their processes and management. Don't arrive with high expectations, you will be disappointed.

  • Tamara Edwards

Ok, I'll start with the nurses, their okay. I understand some are new to the field but it would help patients to feel more comfortable if they were supervised when working on patients. Secondly the cafeteria service is horrible. I waited dam near 45 min for breakfast which they wasn't busy just slow. As for dinner even worse and there were more people working/standing around. You guys really need to train your kitchen staff on have orders done in timely manner. Feels like your waiting on a pizza

Paying a bill with them is one of the worst experiences I've come across in healthcare. If your clinic uses them for labs you cannot pay your bill online. You either have to mail them your credit card information on a piece of paper or call them, which of course they never answer their phone. I am asking my doctors from now on if they use UI health in any capacity and am avoiding them if they do. They are simply the worst and least organized of the major healthcare systems in Chicago.

I love this hospital. Having a incurable illness. This is where they have been keeping be alive and well enough to maintain a life outside the hospital for 20 years. If it wasn't for my infusion nurse and doctors who take great care of me, I don't know what would of become of me. I am grateful for them every day. Even though twice a month 4 hours a day and tons of other doctors appointments. I wouldn't been able to get though it without them. I love the my team. ‍⚕️.

  • Skygrl

Don't bring them here if you don't want the person to go from having a condition that is not too bad to dying, because half of the nurses don't know what they are doing, mess things up. I would give this place a zero if I can. Won't name names but one is racist, and some of the nurses won't take professional advice . Then it's too late because the hospital won't even let family visit the dying when they say they will. They make them wait, and then it's too late. The person is gone.

I experienced chest pains and tightness for 3 hours before going to this hospital in the 4th hour. I waited 10 hours before being seen. It was a Wednesday so that's a surprise. The hospital gives everyone having any type of chest pain a EKG, if that test shows nothing they don't care about how you're feeling. I'm now changing my medical group. I received better, more expedite care when I was uninsured and going to the Cook County hospital system. I don't trust this hospital.

I had my gallbladder out at this hospital and stayed here for four days. The hospital is in dire need of a renovation and it looks very dystopian and disturbing on the inside. The doctors on the other hand got me the correct diagnosis and gave me a plan within three hours of my arrival. The doctors here are phenomenal, although they gave me Tramadol for pain and I had a really bad reaction to it and ended up in another ER from it.

  • Lena Griffin

Had a tonsillectomy surgery here. Dr. Ari Rubenfeld put me at ease at every step, very knowledgeable and urgent about his patients care. My nurse was named Maria and she had the best bedside manner. My follow up care was with Dr. Allison Albian, she was so nice and answered all my questions. This is a great facility and I recovered beautifully due to their care before, during and after the surgery. Thanks again!

  • Sister Robinson

The wait time with an appt is unacceptable. I’d get seen quicker at the emergency room. They tell you arrive 15 mins before your appt however they don’t see you until 2hrs after your appt. The facilities are usually clean and the workers are rather nice but the quality of care is mediocre. Everytime I get a PCP they eventually quit. Cook county Health Hospital is better, I’ll be switching my network this year.

My wife delivered our first born son here he was born 27 weeks Premature. They took very good care of my son for 3 months . Best hospital ever my wife had a c section and they also Allows her to stay two extra days in the hospital after she delivered our son . My wife couldn’t walk and they helped her to stand and walk around the hospital. My son is now 3 years old, he’s doing great thanks to this hospital…!!!

I was put on hold for 10mnts just to schedule an appointment with new neurologist for my migraines due to brain surgery. When finally someone answer I told her I was on hold already for 10 mnts not to put me on hold anymore. Well she put me on hold for another 29mnts. I finally just hung up... this women that work there need better training. I'm still waiting g on a call back to schedule my appointment

  • Yedsemei Martinez

Please tell me why they schedule pt to coming at 5:15 for surgery and they don't have people in the front desk down in the entrance they are barely getting in and then they are rude and have a attitude like I am supposed to know you just go there , the older lady was rude to me wow but nice to other instead of saying it nicely she said with attitude wow really is to early for all that

  • Rebecca Gomez

I gave birth in uic hospital 6 days ago and it was a great experience. Compare to my first pregnancy in another hospital. In uic the nurses were great checking on me a lot if I needed something ,checking my vitals . Everyone was great .I had a great labor ! They gave me everything I needed to recover without me asking or begging like I did in the other hospital.

  • Sandra Colon

This hospital is unprofessional and dirty. Anytime of the day it’s staff sitting around on their phones or having personal conversations in front of patients not being serviced. The bathrooms are filthy, the attitude of the entire hospital is awful and you almost feel like your bothering the staff by asking a simple question or for help.Would not recomend.

  • Osman Kanafani

UI Health is one of the best places for giving back to the community I have ever seen. But I specifically would like to thank and appreciate the desk worker Pamela for being so patient with me and availability. She went above and beyond in helping me schedule an appointment for myself. She is such a professional and must be appreciated! Thank you Pamela!

  • Ana Karina

Staff is super unorganized, appointments are changed last minute hours in difference and patients aren’t notified They make you wait hours if you’re 5 mins late but also when you arrive early, they make you wait as much! It’s frustrating to come and sit to wait around, as if this was an ER section. Appointments aren’t respected at all. Service sucks !

  • It's Alaina

It’s so bad I want to give it a 0 star rating. My dad went here because he had heart problems and they DIDNT treat him right, he later died in the hospital. I HATE how they treat their clients it’s so ridiculous. I would not advise going here. We are going to sue this hospital. They don’t care about their clients, this hospital should get tooken down.

  • Kelly

Don’t let all these bad reviews fool you. If you want the best care for yourself or a loved one this is the hospital to come to. All the real and seasoned doctors are right here. Don’t let the location make you think anything other. I have never in my life seen doctors who not only care but are very well trained. Thank you for your caring hands.

  • Rosa VasGam (CHICAGOROSE)

I cannot believe it has a 2.9 rating. UI health is amazing. The clinic part is efficient. The Staff is entirely empathetic helpful and kind. We never wait more than 10 mins to be called in. Everyone explains all the details & procedures. I live 2 minutes from Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn and they do not meet my standards like UI health.

  • Maria E Alvarez

Unexcusable: when you have 7:30am Appointment you check in the specialty clinic and you don't get seen because someone did take care of my patients information that should have been shared twice this has happened.9:30 am and still waiting to be seen and lab work was not put in for her who's responsible!!! Transplant Clinic!!!! …

  • Antoine Bates

Facilities were top notch, most of the staff decent enough. Amazing mid wife Amber and future midwife(current nurse) Jessica. Worst nurse and most disrespectful individual I’ve even meet Nurse Connie she literally tried to kill my wife and denied her most basic care and pain relief during her laboring thus my rating

  • dante lewis

This is the worst hospital in the state! They are rude and the emergency is not for emergencies. They don't care about you no matter who you are. They will let you die and I mean that in all honesty. One star is too much for this place. Also if you think they care because you got good insurance haha think again.

  • Lisa Herrick

There's a lot I want to comment on but I know I'm limited. My dau just had surgery there 8/18/23 and they are just simply amazing workers there. They made her feel comfortable and they were all so nice to her and me. Dr Nathan King is so wonderful. I would recommend this staff and hospital to everyone

  • Lawanda Ramseur

This is the far most worst experience, of My life I have been trying to get my foot fixed for a little over a year and five months now and they still won’t and they still haven’t fixed it and they keep putting it off so on this day 11/10/23 I’m going somewhere else so I can get so HELP.

  • Brenna Kelley

They did really well at this hospital I would trust it I had a c section at this hospital and they made sure I made it through my surgery they were so nice I would recommend this hospital especially to someone who is needing a c section because they really did their job good

  • Nina V Clay

My sister had multiple myeloma and they treated her less than a human the nurses were the only damn thing that was wonderful. I have strict instructions to my family or friends do not allow them to provide no services to me. They didn't even tell us aBout the free trials.

  • adriana correa

Karolyn is the best nurse in ob who helped me deliver my baby!! Next to the staff who assisted during the delivery. Also the other nurse who was very caring and considerate in caring me when I had difficulty using the restroom. May god bless these women & staff !!

  • Janice Adubato

Unfortunately, I’ve spent so much time here because of my dad. I have had the best experiences. Doctor Jindal, Doctor Berkes, and all the team across the board. I am so grateful for everything you do and how much care and love you have. Thank you for everything.

  • Laura Huiz

The worst!! Passed out twice in the ER with fever and pain ! The old ladies that came in for night shift but gossiping about personal life. Empty er room and they still did nothing!! Just know if you about to pass out or die don't go there. They pick and choose

  • Kaaliyah Moore

This place is horrible over compact no private rooms people are literally using the bathroom right next to you changing bed pans next to other patients very unsanitary more likely to catch a infection in this hospital might as well save your time and go to rush

  • And So On . Net

This place is gracious and I can't stop talking about the staff the hospital even though the great portions of food for cheap. UIC Hospital is a great place to have a baby or have any kind of procedure done very educated people who give a damn.

  • Patricia Moore

If I could have given a zero I would. Daughter was transferred there Thanksgiving day. 3 days later no answers and doctors refused to come to her room today to answer questions. Filing a formal complaint Monday morning

  • Mike Holmgren

Nurses did not communicate well with shift change and gave incorrect medication to my 56 year old brother. They never acknowledge the incorrect diagnosis. Long waits for doctor rounds. I would believe in these reviews.

  • Me Oh My

The best nurses doctors and staff we experienced anywhere. ICU Neuro and 680 east wing we can't thank you enough. Still in process and will be a long haul but daily just thrilled with everyone.

  • Nikki Moss

THIS HOSPITAL TRANSPORTER MIKE OR MICHEAL HAS A BAD ATTITUDE AND TREAT PEOPLE EVIL HE IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL HE NEEDS TO BE FIRED IF YOU DONT WANT TO WORK IN THIS FIELD HE SHOULDNT BE THERE

  • Rachel Wilkes

I had the absolute best experience at this hospital. I was admitted back in June 2022 and I received exceptional care. Everyone was very polite, accommodating and professional.

  • Jose Reyes

Terrible hospital so unorganized a bunch of students practicing on patients. Some nurses were excelente but the number of bad ones far out weighs the number of good one.

  • Justin Skripac

My daughter had eye lid surgery today. Every person that worked there were the nicest people Loved them all! And the surgeon did an amazing job. Thank you!!!

  • Amy

Mary Polk in the Organ Transplant Dept doesn’t care about people’s feelings. Do not appreciate her yelling at screaming people. Have some respect, lady!!!!!

  • Mohamed Saad

The only good thing is that they behave in a nice way, other than that the medical staff is very bad technically. They always misdiagnose the health issues

  • Kathy

Dr William Kobak has been my Gynecologist since 2008 . He’s amazing and helped me with Incontinence, over active bladder. I highly recommend him.

  • 1stSeeIt Productions

Read someone’s journal from 1998 about the nurses/patient treatments here. It is necessary to know the history of hospitals.

  • Shalonda Toro

The wrost hospital we been waiting in the emergency department for 5 hours with no seats this is ridiculous

  • Denise Garbutt

The emergency room is smaller than my living room. Service worse than cook county hospital.

  • Alondra Nevarez

No words to describe how amazing the MICU nurses are, they took such good care of my father

  • Helen Rivera

My appointment was fast and my doctor was ok.
