I normally don't like leaving one star reviews, but the recent service I got at the bookstore was terrible. This is in regards to me trying to return a book. I haven't bought from the bookstore until now because their prices are not competitive compared to Amazon or online services. This time however, I did need to buy it from them because I couldn't find it cheaper online (I did later though). So I bought the book for $75 dollars, which isn't much, but for a broke college kid, that's a half a month of dinner. I was angry that I had to spend that much and so I went online to see if I could dig deeper, as it turns out, I could rent it from Amazon for $25 which is much better. So I assumed I could just return the book, considering I bought it 4 days ago and had the receipt, and then buy the Amazon one. Nope, you can't return books after the first Friday of the semester (I'm in week 2). What kind of BS is that? Why can you only return books the first week? What if you take a class and buy the book, but find out a week later you don't actually want to take the class and sign up for something else? Tough luck I guess, you have to keep the book even though you just bought it from them and will never use it again. I am appalled that in this consumerist economy that I cannot return a book simply because I missed the last deadline to return it, I HADN'T EVEN BOUGHT THE BOOK AT THAT TIME. But I guess I have to keep it now and relish in the fact that I overspent on a book at an unfair bookstore. Never buying from here again.
I purchased an ebook expecting a downloadable PDF textbook. Instead I was given a link to an external website that required me to create an account. After I was finally able to get into the website I was able to redeem my book code. Then I went to open the book to begin reading, nope. I then had to download the website's app to download my book. I downloaded it to my phone and downloaded my book, found out you can search anything, the pages take 10-15 seconds to load (no data usage) as you're trying to flip through them, every time I try to move the page up while it's zoomed in the app tries to highlight a word. On my computer, the app says it needs to download an update. I try to download the update and nothing happens. When I try to use the search function on it, I just have a loading symbol and nothing else happens. I also cannot access a table of contents as the app says the book doesn't have one. The best part of the whole situation is there isn't anything on the bookstore website that says you have to go through a third party to retrieve your book. So with that I still feel confident in my choice to tell incoming students to avoid purchasing anything from the UNM Bookstore and I'm glad I will NEVER need to use them again.
Myself and my sister, and her grandson went here so that I can apply for my passport, and we all had to wait our turn to be called upon, and make sure that we all had the proper documentation to proceed, it took me about an hour and a half to turn in everything. It was well worth the wait, the only issue that myself and someone else who was waiting, her daughter, and someone else, had to go to the restroom there, I asked a staff member where it was, and she told me, as well as the other lady, that their restroom's were closed, that we would have to go across the street to the Frontier Restaurant and use their restroom. I was appalled by what she said, so I just went and asked another staff member to use the restroom, she was kind enough to take us all to relieve ourselves', thank you to her for letting us go to the restroom, and thank you for helping us out with applying for our passport 's!!!!
I had a bad experience with the technology customer service. The customer service agents within the Tech Den did not give me back my receipt. Instead of telling me they neglected to put it back in the bag, they proceeded to throw it away. I never left eye sight of the cashiers before realizing I was missing the receipt. I then asked for the receipt back, they then did not acknowledge my question, and proceeded to ignore me. I asked why they weren't responding, I was told that they had to find it in the garbage. They handed back the wadded up receipt. It was halfway back to my office that I checked and found out they did not return all of the purchase. The neglected to give back the USB connector to the device, This would have been a one star review but the customer support manager, Aimee, was very polite but patronizing..
I purchased a gift card last semester and the process went smoothly and successful. This semester, however, I did not even sign a bursar's agreement after my gift card purchase, which I thought isn't even according to policy. I was helped by gentlemen that wasn't sure how do help me so then he asked Aimee Lowery to help. Completely unprofessional and rude person to work with. She was talking about me WHILE I was still nearby saying how "it was an inconvenience" and I "insisted" to ask for RECEIPT of my purchase. I still did not receive a receipt of my $750 purchase and she just said she couldn't help. I was fine waiting for everyone to figure out how to help me, but Aimee Lowery "Customer Service & Loss Prevention Coordinator" was not helpful and completely rude. Terrible experience.
Been using UNM bookstore for the past few years. Decent service for textbooks (not rating price, since I didn't price compare); they've got a tech corner for computers and digital gadgets. There's a section for print photography, presumably for the Art Studio students. One Major Beef: This main campus book store is virtually useless when trying to get online materials for classes at *other* UNM campuses. Let me say that more clearly: if a shared History or Math class is using the same damn digital book... you CANNOT purchase it at Main Campus if the class is at another campus. Same text, same price... cannot buy. Stupid, stupid rule. Whatever happened to "Buyer Beware"?
Buying textbooks here is fairly easy and can be a quick process. They have a variety of options and they have used and rental options as well. Their return policy is pretty awful since any full refund has to be returned within the first 4 days of the semester which is extreme considering it may take you longer to drop a class. The rentals aren't that steep but it depends on what you need. The rest of the supplies are kind of expensive because they are all UNM name brand items. An example is a notebook running 3 dollars higher than one you get a Walmart. It's not a bad store if you need UNM clothing though, they have some great sweatpants.
Conveniently located at Central and Cornell NE, the University of New Mexico bookstore has virtually everything a student needs to succeed academically, from the expected class texts and supplies to computers and peripherals. As an authorized Apple retailer, the offer a nearly full line of Apple products at student pricing. Additionally, the bookstore carries an extensive collection of UNM logo mechandise, a small but respectable recreational book selection, and a small coffee bar. The staff, predominantly students, are friendly, knowledgeable, and talented. Everyone here lives customer service.
The text books are more expensive than if you were to buy them on Amazon however the money your spend here goes back into the community 2 fold. First by way of fair taxes and second because the profits serve the University of New Mexico mission and it's student employees. Further, they offer a huge selection of office/school supplies, non-academic books, clothing, as well as computer and technology products. I recently used the Passport service and I would recommend it if you don't want to drive somewhere else to get your photos done.
I took back a book that I had rented as well as some books that I was going to sell back. They gave me back my deposit for the rental book, but acted like it was what they were paying me for everything I was selling back. It wasn't until I got home that I realized that they essentially took back all the books I was trying to sell back to them for free, without giving me even a little bit for them. Those books were expensive, and now they get to sell them all over again without having to pay for them.
Good atmosphere. Good customer service, professionals to handle questions are on site and ready to help. Busy times, book purchases at beginning of semester, and book returns after semester, they are well prepared to handle the influx of traffic. Textbook are obviously available, purchase new, used and rentals. Leisure books also available. Apparel from hoodies to frisbees also available. Bathroom upfront and clean. All office supply available, including printer cartridges, staplers and pens.
They didn't have the book that I needed for class. So they ordered it and it'll be in in about a week. What gets me is that UNM knows how many people register for classes they should have the right number of books for students. So now I'm behind in my class and I still don't have a book. This is either UNM fault or the bookstore's fault. Either way I pay a lot for the book and I pay a lot for tuition this is not acceptable.
The bookstore listed the wrong textbook for two of my classes, and now they refuse to put the correct ones on hold for me despite everything. So, I've paid them, received the wrong books, and now have to pay more according to a really unprofessional staff member over the phone. This is my first and only time using the UNM book store instead of Amazon or Chegg. Really disappointing, and I'm a reasonable person.
The UNM book store has been the old standbye for any UNM student to get their course books. Over the years they have done a decent job of trying to stay competitive considering all the book resellers who have moved into the surrounding area. Most everyone is friendly and actually knows what they are talking about when you have a Q.
Went here after many years...wanted a couple of books for personal reference -they didnt have, they didnt know what i was talkg about. Forgot about their medical bookstore. Various items to choose from for the Lobo fan. Used Parkmobile for the first time. Visitor parkg is a short distance from the bookstore... a plus! …
I always advocate finding pdfs when you can or getting books second hand or at least direct from the publisher. But if you have to get obscure or special prints, they're okay. Also they have quality writing supplies and good engineering paper. +1 star for starting to stock my favorite fountain pen safe notebooks.
This spot is pricey, as University bookstores generally are, but they have a great selection of books apart from textbooks. I've found some good cookbooks here. Also nice selection of "Lobo gear" of course, which is not cheap but high quality. UNM students and staff get a discount. Very friendly staff.
I love the store just inside the first front door. There are excellent snack options and reasonable prices. It is an expensive bookstore though. I saw some of the shoe prices and some of the school gear prices and quickly concluded that I would not be shopping much here.
Great facility. Small bookstore, but good selection of books. About 1/2 the store devoted to promotional items, shirts, hats, sweats, license plates, stickers, mugs, etc....staff friendly. School supply section in back. Along with computer and electronic section.
Bookstore is currently running a scam with the school to automatically charge students for digital material. Don't like it? They'll direct you to an unmonitored e-mail account with auto-reply that says you should have known better. Keep up the bad work UNM.
Merchandise can be badly overpriced at times, but it is a nice building with a good shopping experience with friendly staff. If you're a student it's beneficial to get your books here as you can use your school account to pay off with any means later on.
The bookstore is generally well stocked with clothes and books. A lot of people who work there really do try to help if something is on backorder or you have an issue. A few things are expensive but that's the nature of books and certain clothes brands.
Far too expensive for things that can be purchased online for a fraction of the cost. Additionally, custom editions of common books with nothing but the order of exercise questions changed are everywhere. Expect to pay top dollar for such things.
The UNM bookstore is truly awesome. Beyond the fact that it's vast, the staff are friendly and they carry the finest Lobo merch available. True, the bookstore sells books, but if you need ANYTHING UNM, the bookstore should be your only stop.
Nice campus bookstore with tons of UNM related clothing, memorabilia, and of course...books! I came here to visit the US Passport Center, which takes walk-in applications for passports. Slightly busy, we were there for 30 minutes total.
Large bookstore will a good selection of Lobo Gear. Inclusion of a Satellite Coffee bar inside the store was a nice touch. Had a good children's section, but its under repair/renovation right now... i hope it stays around.
Great customer service! I ordered some mugs online and when they arrived, they had broken in shipping. The bookstore took full responsibility and were very quick to send me replacement mugs. Thanks for the great service!
Books you need are out of stock and it takes them 1 month to order and receive new books then blame it in everyone else except themselves as to why they don't have the books. Much rather continue buying my books online.
I bought an access code that I didn’t use and apparently was supposed to return it the first week in small lettering when the receipt said I could return past that point. Nothing they could do for me, what a rip off.
Very nice place, nice but overly cautious people, has a lady at the desk follow me around from a distance, then went back to the desk after I left the area. Can't blame her, I looked sketchy. Everyone was nice …
Can put stuff on bursary account bill and got an awesome manga calendar. The operations management book was the cheapest at this bookstore compared to every where else (including online). Love the clearance section.
It is good to get books and materials conveniently at the bookstore and, there is definitely a price you have to pay for this convenience. I find stationary a little expensive here, compared to other nearby stores.
I visited the UNM bookstore many years ago (70s/80s). It now has an atmosphere that is very commercial and seems designed to appeal to the stereotypical undergraduate who attends football and basketball games.
It's your typical college bookstore. Outrageous prices for textbooks is standard faire. There's plenty of UNM merch and a few necessities. Staff is usually friendly and helpful but expect to wait for service.
It was nice heading back to the bookstore for the first time since graduation. They have the absolute best selection of Lobos gear, especially Nike gear. Pulled a great haul for a decent price.
Was getting a passport with unm bookstore, it was efficient and fast.. everything I needed was at the facility! The applications, photo for the passport, everything! Really great experience!
They only have books for the current Semester. Instructors cannot preorder a year out to be ready for following semester. So you have to wait till the semester starts to purchase your books.
The manager here is always rude, and acts like she doesn't care for her job. I have spent a lot of money in this place to be treated poorly in return. UNM can be better if they wanted to.
The bookstore checks only for title and edition and not for printing. So the STEM books it sells often are several years old and full of typos that were corrected in later printings.
They were great! I had a book order that wasn't correct and they fixed it without any issues or making me feel like I was a bother. Great customer service! Esther is amazing!
A lot of the supplies there can be found at lower and fair prices. The clothing is unique. The books are over priced and only and few are needed because of the access code.
They price the casio 300ES calculator for $60 when it is $13 on amazon, definitely an overpriced store. Especially at the techden area. Amazon usually has better deals
Quite possibly the friendliest bookstore I've ever been to! Store was closing soon but they accommodated me and gave me time to look. Very cool experience. Thanks!
The staff is friendly, so if you need guidance they are willing to help. Never had an issue shopping here for the past 25 years on and off, and will miss them.
I love the atmosphere here. The customer service is excellent. And there is a good selection of supplies. The clothes and bags are always super trendy.
As a UNM student, I find all books needed for my classes here, as well as books that cannot be found in other book stores. Great staff and service.
First time there stopped by for a souvenir shirt and they had Friday night special since it was game day. They offered 25% off that is super cool.
Cool lobo gear, costs an arm and a leg and maybe a finger or two... But the bookstore part has been more competative in pricing as of late...
Pretty decent selection of books, generalized art supplies, bags, and tech. Is it pricey...yup. but it offers supplies here in town now.
Great store! Really nice person helped me with a textbook question. Great UNM apparel. Nicely displayed. Got a good parking place even!
Friendly, helpful staff. Large selection of products. The prices are a bit higher but I like to be able to support my local university.
Friendly attentive staff, wide selection of items. No line to check out at cashier. Large selection of items for sale online as well.
Pricey but nicely organized. Have felt a hawkish presence from the staff a few times I've been there which I would prefer less of.
Dollars stay on campus and they employ many student employees. Support local and some of your classmates at the same time.
Great customer service helped me find textbooks I needed through a search done for my classes since I didn't take list in.
I went to get my Passport renewed and it went really quick and smooth.Great place to get it done.Everything in on place.
Love coming here, a bit pricey for clothes, but the sales are good and they always have neat and interesting displays.
Overpriced, if you're looking for merch, go across the street, there's a better, cheaper merch store across Central.
It's overpriced. You're better off shopping at any of the many local stores in a block radius for all non book items
Huge store has everything but not a lot of gift stuff and needs more feminine clothes that don't reference Lobos.
Nice clean, has variety of w UnM wear for all ages. Definitely a place to stop at for Lobos fans, gifts galore...
Customer service here is terrible. The workers are so rude and mean. Steer clear! Just buy your books online.
Was bummed- hardly any men's options, mostly women with some unisex. Not the best quality shirts or decals.
Passports Saturdays, 10a - 2p Check or money order Bring Birth Certificate and Dr. License or Both Parents
Its where a lefty can get left handed spiral notebooks. And text books other than that it is expensive.
It's got the stuff you'd need. Just personally compare your prices elsewhere first as with any business
Book prices are good...tech store had what I needed. They are doing a great job at social distancing.
Great prices for student. Way too big of a section for school spirit clothes in comparison to books.
just stopped in to get directions around campos .but the outline of the interior was well set up.
Good variety in drawing supplies. Also has a neat section of literary books and local authors
Friendly, professional staff...great selection of books and tee shirts...check them out soon!
Recently returned as an Alumni, and it's so nice to see the bookstore being kept up so well!
Beautiful bookstore. I stop at college bookstires wherever I go, and this is the best yet.
Pretty helpful folks...high prices but that is to be expected at a university bookstore.
Went to the passport service. Super nice and helpful the girl that attended me in there.
Had appointment with passport service. She was very nice, helpful, and fast. Thank you!
Although the prices are a little high, they have nice Lobo merch and the staff is nice
Bought myself some Micron pens from here. Nice and quiet store with lots of options.
Okay prices, super convenient for a student. Good if you need something in a pinch.
Good place to study, friendly staff, and very busy so be prepared to wait in line.
Great store to get lost in and find your school spirit. And the staff was helpful.
Excellent choices, but the sizes of the clothing run a size larger than normal.
There was no wait and the employee was very helpful and kind. Great experience!
You can buy a UNM alumni shirt and folks will think you got book learning. $20.
I always seem to get the nicest employees at the bookstore. Love the apparel.
Awesome place with cool stuff to buy, juet a bit pricey. Great service, tho
The attendants r hospitable and kind including a smile to brighten ur day.
It's all good people are nice thanks to all that works in the book store
The Lady that helped me with my passport was professional and friendly
Limited selection and sizes. Ha e to go online or the PIT store.
Nice staff, fair to good cleaning. Usually pretty quick.
I like shopping for lobo wear, and picking up supplies.
Lobo gear is awesome at the bookstore. Go Lobos!
It's the nicest school bookstore I've ever seen.
Quality merchandise but for a high price.
Took a tour of campus. Great bookstore.
Great product. Great customer service
Great experience, lots of cool merch
Lots of great Lobo gear.
Great passport services
