I hate that I have to post on this platform but unfortunately, there is no other outlet to let the public know what to expect if you are thinking about joining UNO gym. I am a graduate of the college of business class of 1987 so it hurts my heart to write this review. I joined over 1 year ago. I am into my second year. The gym is falling apart. The mens rest rooms are horrible. Imagine a gym full of college boys all using the same restroom and many times the toilets won’t flush. The staff is made up of a bunch of college student. I have no idea who is over the students but whoever it is they are not doing a very good job holding the students accountable or training them. The guest fees are ridiculously high at $16 pre visit. So a two day guest visit would cost you a 1 month membership at a normal gym. The kids that work the front dest are rude and have no communication skills. Be prepared to not be acknowledged with good morning or afternoon or even a simple hello or a smile. They don’t care that alumni or community members pay a very hefty price to join the gym. I feel like I’m I unwanted by the staff and many older folks feel the same way. The students seem to believe that the gym is only for them and we are outsiders. The gym Is not very clean and you can see large pieces of dust around every equipment. The equipment has been in they gym since it opened around 2000. It is disappointing to see the lack of management presence and how run down they have allowed the gym for go. The State of LA should fund the university better but in the meantime a strong leadership team could solve the majority of the problems I see.

08/21/2021: After a 2 year absence, much has not changed except COVID19 protocols are in place: Showers & restrooms limited, masked required, proof of vaccination and fitness at a distance... Although the University of New Orleans RIS is an adequate facility, I would still recommend workouts there. Definitely NO frills. Isolation machines/stations are aged/rustic but doable. Lots of aged cardio equipment available. Members are generally good natured and less possessive and judgmental. The Community is genuinely welcome and there are reasonable Senior Citizen rates. Indoor track, swimming pool 4.3 - 4.6, basketball courts and limited fitness classes. Ample parking at a VERY reasonable rate.

Really enjoying this large old school gym with Tom's of weight equipment (not just treadmills). Disappointed that they have no music (deadly silent) and god forbid of you breath or set the weights down on the rack too loud as you'll be corrected by one of the ladies there. Also, if you need to adjust your mask, likely someone on a treadmill will drop their mask to yell at you to keep yours up. Seems some of the local non students dampen what could be a great gym (I'm a non student also but not there to police the students). So bring a header and generate your own workout energy but keep.it to yourself.

I don't live in New Orleans anymore but this is a great place to get in a workout. They have plenty of free weights, basketball courts, a running track, group classes, and all of their cardio equipment is placed in front of tvs so you can watch a show while working out. They even have free locker service. Insider Tip: If you are into swimming check out the pool. It is always empty.

sigh... I really hate to say it, but I wish it was better. the workers are super friendly and all around great people. Many times we go in and people treat the gym like trash. throwing weights and never putting them back. Trash and dust almost always on the floor. I would love to love it here. unfortunately, it just isn't as good as it could be.

The place has more options that you will need to have a complete workout every day of the week. Very clean place. The students that work there are always happy to help and keep the gym in a very good condition. The workout area is big and there are plenty of choices, from cardio and weight lifting to cross fit style equipment.

The gym hours are the worse I have ever seen. I’m a student who live on campus and many times I have to travel outside campus and pay for a second gym membership in order to complete my routine workout. Limited hours during the week and almost closed for weekends but the library on campus is closed.

Love it has everything you need and extra 180 for three months and sometimes summer specials is a university gym because I am a alumni I paid $100 for 3 months but it has a wonderful pool wonderful people who work there and it's clean and practically just about every equipment you want

Even though the place is clean and has a wide selection of weights, the open time is not early enough and the close time is to early. Plus if you are not a student or no longer affiliated with the University the price is outrageous. To many other places that have better hours.

As a UNO alumni, I will say that even through the years this facility has maintained its state of the art atmosphere. There is not much of a presence of employees who are willing to help, but the equipment and the atmosphere makes up for all that.

  • Johnna Smart

Love the facility. A variety of machines from weight lifting to cardio and even body weight. Even has a basketball court, sauna, and pool! Very Welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is very kind, helpful, and respectful. And no one is watching you

  • Jennifer Jasso

I go to school here and am glad I get to enjoy the gym! The inside always looks clean, and there’s never a crowding issue when I go. Honestly: love this gym. They have some cool classes. I haven’t been, but they sound fun. :)

40+ a month for equipment that is falling apart. Great for free weights bad for any workout machines. Also, you have to physically (digital unavailable) renew every month. It's either that or a full year upfront.

  • DpOoenise Collins

I'm a member. I use the facility 3-4 times per week. Mostly swimming. There is a wide range of hours that it is open 6-9 Monday -Thurday. Shorter hours on Friday-Sunday.

  • Adrian Baudy (Adrian Baudy IV)

Good pick up basketball games. Lots of machines and cardi equipment. Enough free weights that you don't have to get a set in between someone.

  • Mabon Williford

This is a really nice facility. They offer memberships to non-students. Opens pretty early but not opened too late.

  • Maria Rusnak

Please, update your hour of operation. The ones listed here are incorrect. Attached are new ones.
