Such a serene awesome place with lots of deep, rich history. It's so beautiful here. The Virgin Mary statue is beautiful. A lovely Church, or at least the remains of one.... But this was an Ursuline Academy. So very spiritual place, so lovely. I love it here. Has an entrance to the Riverwalk. They also offer art classes.
Great art from local artists. Frequent exhibits and other events, like Empty Bowls. You pick a bowl you like, you buy it with the money supporting SAMMShelters. You get some tasty soup, from a number of local restaurants, and a bowl to enjoy or give away. The line can get pretty long but it moves quickly.
Taking a class here has been a pleasure. It saddens me, though, when I see equipment not in working conditions, leaky sinks, or difficulty with purchasing materials. This is my first class here, but I understand the campus has been purchased by another school. I hope that will revitalize it.
One of the hidden gems in the South Texas area! The classes offered range from painting, ceramics, photography, knife making to digital media. Their Articopia event in the fall is one of the better Artisan Markets in the city. Stay tuned to hear about all their special events!
I had lunch there several times, quite a nice colonial setting with a building dating back to the 1850's. They have a small cafeteria open to the public and you get to eat in a room which looks like a museum, definitely off the beaten path.
As a performer this is a nice venue to perform at each time. There is sufficient free parking. Most venues in downtown don't offer that option. It is spacious for guests and performers.
Stopped by for lunch and ordered a Grilled Reuben with a side salad with bleu cheese. AMAZING! I'm so excited over the bleu cheese! So tasty! The staff was so helpful and kind. :)
Love this place. Taking a printmaking class now. It's great. Took a clay workshop last year. Loved it and the people are all great.
Wonderful outdoor area on the river can't be beat during Fiesta ... Yes it was hot and humid but hey ... Via La Fiesta !!
