Sad to write this review as the stylist that did my hair was very friendly and sweet. I scheduled a haircut as they had the earliest availability and I had received a recommendation for them. I brought pictures and explained I wanted length taken off and layers put in. When I left, my hair had been dried and styled, and looked pretty good. However, when I got home, and got it washed, I saw that there was a chunk of hair that had not been cut, one section that was cut shorter, several uneven sections, and the bottom was incredibly blunt. By this time, the salon was closed, so I started a chat with Ulta’s “let us help” chat option. The representative took my complaint and said that the store operation manager would reach out to me directly. It has been 5 days and I have not received a call. I finally made an appointment elsewhere to get it fixed, and ended up paying for another haircut. So sad, disheartened, and disappointed. I will be scheduling out in advance for salons I know and trust from now on.

So so so disappointed in the customer service I received today . I was checking out and the girl that was helping me asked me if I wanted to Add my email so I can get a free gift for my birthday so I told her well my emails already on there and I have received free gifts for my birthday and then she tells me what is email that’s on here looks really fake. And I replied well is it this email and she said yes so I said well that’s the correct email so then after she finished the transaction I Asked is this going to affect anything as my email still OK? And then she change the wording and said something like yes it didn’t affect in your email we just have people coming in here and giving out fake emails to us and I said well that’s too bad for them but my email was correct. I was really hoping that the gentleman that was next to her with a check me out because he was super friendly to all his customers this when I checked out with maybe she needed to go on break or something

My Mom went with me to Ulta yesterday in order to find a highlighter. While I looked around, she asked an associate to help color match her, because she was having a difficult time finding a foundation that matched her skintone & undertone. Alicia was the associate that assisted my Mom & to say that she was amazing would be the ultimate understatement! She was not only personable, but professional and patient. She went above and beyond, taking her time to find the PERFECT color for her (which she ended up doing). Prior to putting on the foundation, she moisturized her skin and applied something to help depuff the area around her eyes. This was one of THE absolute best experiences for my Mom and for me, just seeing how happy she was during the entire process and especially after, when she saw the final result. Thank you Alicia for making yesterday's visit to Ulta so fun and enjoyable! You are amazing at what you do! You you deserve a raise girl! Keep up the great work!!!

Didn't have the greatest experience here. Employees seem a little elitist, especially if you don't look a certain way. I've worked in makeup and was also an MUA. I don't advertise this, so you probably wouldn't know if I'm not wearing makeup... There's no reason to turn your nose up at people who don't meet your visual standard, you never know who you're dealing with and a poor attitude could cost you sales/SPH when someone takes their business elsewhere. It's makeup in the mall...not diamonds. Don't judge on an appearance. I'm hesitant to write this review because I can usually find a positive. Maybe it was an off day, because I'm seeing some very positive reviews. I also know a special person working, with the right attitude can make all the difference in the world just as a person with a poor attitude can ruin your whole day! It should be a pleasure to help someone find their personal shine, that's what always made me happy when I worked with my clients.

What a hot mess of a store. First of all, we scheduled an appt for my daughters ear piercing 2 times and the first time we arrived at our time and our stylist canceled without notification. Then we rescheduled and arrived, only to find out that my daughter had to be 3 months when she’s a few days away from 3 months. They did not even notify me about this when I called and let them know it was for a baby. So to come to the store twice with a baby, only to be turned away is insane. I know she didn’t want to do it because it was 545 on a Sunday and the store was closing. We scheduled our whole day around this and because my daughter was 3 days away from 3 months. Then she even mentioned she did not like piercing babies even if she had a good first experience. I love Ulta but I am disappointed in this service. Hire people that want to do the job they are trained for.

The worst salon I have ever been to. I was asked to change my appointment to a different time twice. I politely said I couldn’t, I booked the time I did for a reason. The first time I was asked to change it, I said there was no problem canceling it. After being assured it was no problem if I couldn’t change it to a different time on both occasions, I showed up to my appointment and was given a stylist I did not book my appointment with and who already had another client. A 30 minute hair appointment turned into over an hour appointment, and ended with my hair cut shorter than I asked and was not even styled. I asked for an inch-inch 1/2. The stylist easily cut off 3 inches, which really matters when your hair is as short as mine. The worst hair cut I’ve ever had, and was charged over $50. Will never return and would absolutely not recommend this as a salon.

COVID-19 protocols are in place but it’s the staff who were absolutely beyond rude I walked in first Sunday 03/21/21 a lady didn’t look up and counted me as a body count for the store’s capacity. I am From Out of the area (3hrs away) and frequent to my fav price stores in Albuquerque to stock up unfortunately every employee I asked for help either ignored me or answered me and pointed to the direction and left me standing alone. After stumbling around still needing help but grabbing a few items I went to check out and found the line from the registers was easily lined to the back of the store no problem except it moved up three people in twenty minutes. Between the horrible service and long wait I’ll be taking my business to another store and possibly future online shopping only . Maybe hire some actual employees

The Cottonwood store is overly crowded. Anytime you turn around, you bump in to something. It’s chaotic. Weirdly enough, they are out of a lot of product too. The employees think they are hot to trot. A couple of them were nice but some where not. The tall transgender woman was really helpful and so was the young blonde lady at the Benefit section. Oh, and there were stickers that said free gift w/a certain product purchase but, upon asking the cashier about it, she was clueless and then was like, ohhh we must be out. Uum hello, take down those labels that offer “free gift w/purchase” if you don’t have a free gift to give. Anyways, y’all, this place is a hot mess. Sounds like the employees could be reminded they are not anymore special than anyone else. I’ll take my $$$ elsewhere, bye bye!

Scheduled an appointment online on Saturday 3/11 for an appointment on Wednesday 3/15 @1215. Received a call on 3/12 to confirm my appointment, received 4 texts to remind me of my appointment. Day of the appointment I receive a call at 10am to see if I can reschedule my appointment time to 2 I explain that I scheduled for 1215 because I have other appointments later in the day. Julia responds ok I guess we will try to make this work. I call back and cancel because I dont want someone rushing on my hair for poor planning on their part. Don't have me confirm my appointment 5 times to ensure that I'll be there for you to imply that somehow I didn't plan accordingly. I'll find somewhere else!

I love Ulta, however, this location has become very unkept, and is often understocked. While the consultants are friendly, they are somewhat uneducated on the stores products. I get it, there's a lot of brands to keep up on, but it is your job to keep updated, especially when there's a featured item that SHOULD be in stock. I was searching for a particular hot item and instead of offering to call another store or finding out when new stock was coming in, the girl just said "sorry" and walked away. Very poor customer service. Yes, I could have ordered online, but I wanted to see the shades in the pallette before deciding to purchase a very costly eye shadow set. Frustrating.

They have security detail in the store. I have not ever walked into an Ulta where there is security detail. They were out of a lot of products I was interested in. I found some products I substituted for my go to’s. The cashier was not friendly after she found out I did not want to be an ulta insider. “I’m not from here.” Sephora is bae in my state, they have the market locked down, Ulta is who? I did politely offer her my points. I guess it wasn’t enough, she scoffed and said “eh no thanks.” I beg your pardon? Then why in the world do I want to sign up and receive four emails a day if you don’t even want the points? Crisis averted. The security lady was really nice.

I seriously always come here but the security guard needs to chill. He literally followed me everywhere because I had a purse? I’m not sure why? It was so uncomfortable and So much stuff was sold out so I kept walking around and felt pressured to buy something even though everything I wanted was sold out only because he made me feel like I was stealing or something? Seriously made me feel so uncomfortable. I understand people do steal but I am a loyal member here but will never return. No one even asked me for help but the security guard followed me down the entire time when when I got in line he looked at me it was so weird. Never will return to this location.

While sometimes their lines are long in the store, they really are always so friendly when I get up to the register. Pre-Covid, it was a bit easier to get assistance on the floor, but I appreciate them limiting staff for their safety, and for the safety of the public, limiting occupancy and practicing SD. Also, I LOVE their curbside pickup. I had an issue this weekend with a coupon and went in to see if the store could help me before online support, and sure enough, they are so SMART about helping their diamondmembers STAY happy!! I always am happy to be there and spend my hard earned money at Ulta!! Keep it up ladies and gents!!!

Awful customer service and the rudeness from the GM. I have been a Brand Partner with Ulta and other retailers for over 15 yrs and have NEVER told a guest we're closing soon. I would always help the guest before closing so that they didn't feel rushed. I was there shopping for some items for the Sheriff's ball this weekend, and could have used the GMs help, but she proceeds to tell me we're closing soon and walks right by me. I did not get what I needed. Paid for what was in hand. And, left without a "thank you for coming in etc..." . Very disappointed in how Ulta here in ABQ. They could have great potential, if they had the right staff.

I love ulta i always have but it’s expensive which sucks because at least 5 products is about $100. I recently bought a palette from them and i LOVE IT! Its really pigmented and easy to blend i will be buying more! (Inserted pic) it was $15 which is not bad considering i buy $52 palettes lol their staff was super sweet and the lady who matched my sister’s foundation for her was super sweet to. I just wish their prices weren’t as expensive as they are but hey it is what it is. Overall i had a great experience at ulta considering im antisocial and have anxiety this store didnt really trigger that which is amazing for me.

I don't even know if ulta should get 1 star! The service there is always bad & the workers are just super judgmental & always follow me around I don't understand why I hope they feel stupid when I purchased stuff but eventually I quit going for that reason! But I had to do an exchange for a Xmas gift I gor that was the wrong item. I had the receipt and they still made it difficult they wouldn't give me the cash but insisted on an ulta gift card no thanks I don't shop at ulta! I'd rather them put the money back on the card that my mother in law paid with then get a gift card! I rather shop at saphora!

I went in to update my skincare routine cuz I’ve tried everything else. The lady that helped me was knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. She even wrote down what order and when to use the knockout and what not to use with one of the cleanses. Clear instructions, essentially. I forgot her name ☹️ The store was very clean. I genuinely like the products so far…I’ve only been using them a couple of days. If you’ve never been to an Ulta before know that they’re a smidge pricey but it is good quality. In the picture is what I bought and it cost me about $165…probably a little less than that but not much.

Poor customer service. I spent 30 to 45 minutes in the store without a single person offering to help. Most of this time was spent in the same area looking for a specific item with my husband. Sales staff stared at me rudely so I didn't bother asking for help. Staff did nothing until I placed items in the wrong spots. That was when they chose to get up and move them back. Staff still managed to never say a word to me while they did this. I give two stars only because I finally found the item I was looking for. I would have left except for the fact I had a gift card I wanted to use.

Had a pleasant experience, staff was very polite and helpful. A lot of the reviews talk about them being rude but this was not the case at all. If you are polite to them, they are polite back :) and I think a lot of people don't realize that in makeup stores they have "stations" which they are not supposed to leave for theft reasons... So when they point you somewhere instead of taking you to it, it's because they can't leave usually. Only complaint was that they were running a bit low on a few things and I was not able to get everything I wanted. Great selection of brands though!

I had the best experience here! I wear very little makeup- just the basics- and I needed REAL makeup for a business trip. I had no idea what to buy and how to use it, and the staff was so incredibly friendly and helpful. As I was browsing, staff would occasionally come and asked me if I was doing ok. Lots of positive, helpful people there- and I absolutely LOVED how diverse the staff was! I hope management sees this review- it’s really hard to find good customer service now and everyone here was wonderful.

I got my hair done a little while ago by Julia Calkins and it was incredible! I had very dark (around level 3) roots and very platinum hair (almost a level 10) and she did an amazing job with evening my color out and giving me dimension. The consultation was very easy and smooth as well, she knows what she’s talking about and made the whole process very enjoyable. Overall, it was a great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone. Definitely a person worth going to over and over again!

This cottonwood location was one of the 1st Ulta stores to open in New Mexico back in 2010. Over a decade later this is still my favorite location. However, I had to change my 5-star rating down to a 3-star due to the current employees. Unfortunately, they are unknowledgeable and seem almost confused when asking for product information as well as where to find products in the store. Too bad. The ladies and gentlemen once working here were top-notch know-it-alls. I miss that.

Very impersonal customer service. The last several times I’ve been to this location the staff doesn’t seem like they want to help when asked. I asked for help finding a new brow product and the associate pointed me to a powder by benefit even though I told her I was leaning more toward pencil. I ended up finding the brow wiz by Anastasia on my own which is a great product but ordering online would be a much better experience than returning to this store.

I've been there twice, and both times the customer service was poor! And I was there early, so they were NOT busy. When I asked for help, I felt overwhelmed, and was left to fend for myself. I recently "HAD" thoughts of, again visiting the store, because I needed advice on purchasing a good brow liner. However, after reading ALL the negative reviews, I've definitely changed my mind, and will NOT be shopping there. Seems like nothing's changed...

It's unfortunate they have a security guard and have increased their alarm tags over the last year or so. I understand why. Just unfortunate, it really takes away from the experience. I love trying new products so I take my time reading the packaging and I rather see an ULTA beauty to answer my questions rather than a security guard making me feel like I'm doing something wrong. My advice, read up on your products for a in and out, quick trip.

I love Ulta. Like any woman, I love shopping for cosmetics, lotions, hair accessories, etc. I think my teen daughter loves it more. The few times we've come to this location the store is disorganized, the makeup testers are not labeled, and the colors are thrown everywhere. The staff doesn't help find colors or products they have been almost argumentative at times. I've been driving at least 15 more minutes to shop at a few other locations.

This Ulta is not in any bad condition the set ups are nice and the store isn’t messy but the only things in there that are is the employees there might be a couple nice ones here in there, but the majority of them barely put any effort into giving any good customer service. Expect an attitude when you ask a simple question like if they have a certain item in stock, they’ll roll their eyes. For no reason at all like it’s your job just do it.

very poor service. i had a curbside ready to go and it took someone 30 minutes to bring out my order. The store didn’t seem busy at all and there was a worker staring right at me from the door the whole time i sat and waited. i made sure i pressed the “i’m here” button from the email i received when i got there and after 20 minutes i decided to call. 10 minutes after i called they finally brought my order out. definitely not coming back

Very disappointed with customer service at this Cottonwood store. I have been to this store a few times and each time find several employees chatting amongst themselves while I and others are in need of assistance. Today i was looking for recommendations for a new look and ready to spend hundreds of dollars and ended up going to a competitor after 40 minutes of watching employees dodge me and other customers. Customer lost for good now.

The manager was so personable and related to me on several levels after I explained I recently started a new skincare routine and was looking to fill in gaps and try new products. She listened to me and my needs and tried to help from there. I hope the moisturizer she recommended with fit nicely into my routine. At the end, had a little use with a return and a gift card lol, but she fixed it! Very nice experience.

Rude management. I had a 10$ off 50$ coupon that wasn't scanning and I never used it and it was in the right time range, so it hadn't expired and I ask to speak to a manager to see if they could honor it. I really didn't use it and she said she was a manager, but dang very rude. Not willing to help the customer at all. It was off of prestige products as well. The whole reason why I came in to use that coupon.

Stopped by this location today with my mom to get color matched for foundation. The beauty specialist that helped us was very knowledgeable and matched my skin perfectly. The only thing was, there was broken make up all over the floor and the specialist just ignored it instead of addressing it leaving us to walk through as we were shopping. Over all I am happy with the customer service and my products.

Matthew was super friendly and helpful. After looking at the shelf in disappointment because my shade was out he quickly offered to go look in the back. He returned with one in hand and made my day! The cashier who happened to be the manager also informed me that i had missed my birthday gift and promptly updated my email so i wouldn't miss out next time. Great Customer Service here!

Awful! They scheduled me to get my hair braided by a young lady in the salon the young lady had no idea what she was doing. Of course didn't take it out on her she tried her best still tipped her for what she could do. But paid way more than what I should have for a service that was not done correctly due to hairdresser not even knowing how to do it which was not her fault.

We found the store a bit overcrowded although it was a Christmas sale. It was difficult to find an associate to help us find the products we were looking for. the checkout line was extremely long but the cashiers were moderately efficient and the line moved fast. The cottonwood Mall Ulta store is always busy and the staff is courteous.

Hair Salon services Stylist Courtney Saiz was extremely rough with my childs haircut. Hit my child in the head a few times with the hair dryer & brush. Kept pulling hair out aggressively causing pain. Has a rude demeanor. Stylist Sarah M always has a smile on her face! My kids love going to her. Stylists Ariana G & Amy R are good too.

I love this store! I live in Artesia NM and there is not one close to me! The staff here is always nice. I feel.comfortabke asking about whatever I am needing. I love my hair and eyebrows when I have them done here! I miss having an Ulta close by! I order online and have had no issues with shipping or getting my order right.

I have been coming to the salon for years, Serena is amazing and has taken great care of my hair! I have gone from my natural (very) dark brown shade to light brown/caramel hair. People will look at me and gasp and think it’s my natural color…I get compliments all the time, all because of her. Thank you Serena :)!!

I love this Ulta. The people are always so nice and friendly. I'm giving it a 4 star only because they run out of stock so fast. I think they need a better system or person for inventory! Buying online simply takes too long for shipping and I'm impatient when I want something lol.

Employee who helped find my shade was very helpful. Cashier was very pushy for me to give her my phone number. She wouldn't let up and she was pretty much arguing with me about why I needed to give her my number. Just ask once and if the customer declines, be respectful of that.

Waste of time to come to this location to get your hair trimmed. Called and scheduled an appointment for 3:00 and waited till 3:40 when I asked how much longer is the wait the lady went and asked Max, they said a bit longer while laughing. You lost me as a client for life.

I ordered online, I was pleasantly surprised it was ready so fast. I went to pick it up and waited 10 minutes ( I was the only person) for help. The cashiers acted as though I wasn't there. Never again with this place. Why off pickup if you don't have staff to help you?

Jose did an amazing job at suggesting a primer, setting spray, & sunscreen. If you need amazing suggestions go to him. I used his suggested urban decay primer and setting spray & omg it feels like a glowing goddess! I loved Jose & I loved this Ulta!

i almost confused this place with sephora because of how rude the employees were here. they watch you the whole time and make you feel very uncomfortable. completely ignored me when I went to check out and helped a lady behind me.
