I am a African america female with natural hair. I have gone to ulta on 4 diffrent occasions to get a twist, flat iron, and Corn row style. I did not take the proper care of my hair. Full disclosure. I allowed it to get knotted up. So I was definitely in need of some TLC for my hair. However before I went to ulta I did have a curl pattern. My stylist name was Page. She seemed like a reasonable person . The first time I went to her I thought she was great. At the time I thought the flat iron was nice. I wore it for 2 weeks and then I washed my hair. The hair damage was very real. It was really stringy in the front. However, I really wanted to get my hair done because I liked being able to go some where and get my hair done. Also, you think having a hair salon in a beauty store would be nice. The braids and twist were ok. The twist didnt really last long because of the heat damage in the front they weren't able to lock in place. The last time I went was for a flat iron. I got it and it was ok until I washed my hair. My whole head is heat damage. I wore the hair flat iron for the week and did not use any additional heat. I am sad but it is a lesson learn. If you have natural hair dont flat iron yout hair unless you know what you are doing or have a stylist that is experience in doing natural hair. Heat protectant is very important. I would have never posted this review because I figured the heat damage was my fault. However, I meet someone with natural hair that went to see the same stylist. The girl who I meet takes very good care of her hair. She suffered heat damage after a salon visit to ULTA . She said she went there because it was cheap and close by her house. Lesson learnt the hard way.
I went there to get my make up done , and I was really excited I was ready to let the makeup artist take the wheel and I wasn’t going to give much input. I asked for a natural look with not too much makeup , she asked if I wanted to do anything with my eyebrows I said no. She told me she just needed to fill them in to give her something to wrk with. I said okay , we’ll i shouldn’t of because next thing I know I have two rectangles on my face , i was visibly upset and she assured me she was going to fix it , well long sorry short the more makeup she applied the less I liked it , I didn’t want to tell her I didn’t like it but I couldn’t sit there and let her continue, so I let her know and I could tell it offended her. I tried to be nice but she spoke like I didn’t know what I was saying. It was just too much makeup for me. Even when I asked her to change it she kept the one thing that I disliked the most which were the eye brows. I left her a tip dispite me not liking how it came out but I don’t think I’ll be going back.
Super disappointed in the fragrance department! I've been to this Ulta on multiple occasions. The testers are HORRIBLE ! The nozzles are missing so you can't spray a good majority. Also, the travel size perfumes are used as most testers . . .which most are empty. A product that stated "in stock" online..was in fact "out of stock" . It's just a mess. I hope they get it together because this Ulta is so convenient in the New Orleans area. UPDATE Since reviewing I've been back a few times. .they have put out a FEW (literally) testers. But they also disappears and BOOM back empty shelves. I've contact Ulta corporate office because I feel that the amount of theft is the reason us customers have to suffer. I know the staff are doing what they can. A security guard is present sometimes.. she's so sweet and helpful. But it's only so much a security guard can do. The NOPD response time is horrible. It's just a hot mess. .but we as customers deserve better service. Not sure how Ulta corporate is handling this situation.
I want to Ultra for the first time today in New Orleans, on Claiborne Ave. I was super excited about going there and buying new makeup. There was a particular L'oréal product I was needing, along with some other products I want to explore. The store was quiet, very few customers, due to bad weather I supposed. I found the L'oréal shelf space, but not the product I was looking for. I looked around for someone to help me, but there was no one I could identify as an Ulta employee. I think it was fairly obvious that I was confused and looking for something or someone to help me. I've worked in a retail space before, and I know what is supposed when a customer looks lost. I left. I didn't spend a penny there, and I won't go back. Maybe the store being empty wasn't due to the weather. I went home and ordered my products on Amazon. So much for shopping locally.
The women here are pretty helpful and I've been able to call and ask questions when I didnt want to make a trip to the store. The time they take with you to make sure you have what you need is great! I do love this store and prefer it over our local Sephora because they carry a wide variety of products. Around Halloween, I needed a silver liner to do the details on my Gamora makeup and a woman there told me what they had and actually took the time out of her busy schedule to look on the computer and help me find one , but it was a brand they didn't carry so she told me where to go and the name of it. I wish I could remember her name because I appreciated her time! The return policy is simple and there is no hassle. Everyone seems pretty nice that I've talked to. Definitely recommend this store !
Very disappointed with my experience at the salon. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because I initially liked how everything looked. It wasn't until I left I noticed that she left some bleach in my hair. It was already dry and crusty at this point from her blowing it. Now a portion of my hair is LIGHTER than the other. My head still felt itchy after she washed my hair. I had to go home and take a shower to REWASH my hair. She kept whipping my hair over my face hitting me in the eyes more than once. I left with coloring on my face from the shampoo or whatever she used. I also left looking like a frizzy mess which I didn't care too much about, as I can just style it myself, but for 150 bucks, you'd think it would be styled somewhat decently. Will not be coming back to this salon.
I gave them three stars because they did have a couple of hair products I've been having difficulty finding elsewhere. But if there was another Ulta near me I would go there instead. There were boxes of products all over the floor of the store. Around the boxes didn't look very clean. All the makeup displays were disorganized and half empty and since I could see how dirty the store was, I didn't want to risk getting anything for my face. The maddening part is the completely empty perfume displays. I mean there was not one bottle on the shelf. I asked at the register and the woman told me, oh no we have em. And that was the end of that conversation. I get that the store is not in the best neighborhood but it seems there's a lot that could be done better.
Only giving a 1 star because of the customer service. I was looking for something specific, and tried to look for someone to help so I could find it faster. I ran into an associate saying "Hi, do you work here?" I asked simply because I couldn't see a name tag. She said nothing, but looked down at her little apron and flipped it motioning she does work there, still not opening her mouth. I could then tell how deeply she enjoyed her job. She was a little larger set with reddish hair and glasses. Couldn't tell you her name, since like I said she wasn't wearing one. The associate greeting customers walking in was friendly, as well as the cashier. However, because of ONE associate, I will never come back to this location.
Rude employees. Incident 1. I politely asked a sales associate for a Napkin to wipe my hands, she replied okay and walk. I proceeded to walk to the hair counter and asked another lady for a napkin and she helped. Incident 2. I walk to the counter to pay for my item and the cashier, in the most ruddiest tone, turns and points to another associate and states, “she’s going to take care of you, Maddie.” Behold, it’s the previous sales associate I requested a napkin from. I re-stated her name, she then proceeds to attempt to apologize. At this point I’m ready to purchase my items and leave. I typically prefer Ulta over Sephora because of the customer service. Today’s experience was repugnant. I will not return.
Whent to the store to buy some makeup and decided to get my lip waxed while I was there. The esthetician that saw me was very nice but waxed hair and some skin from half of my lip! It is incredibly painful and I am sure I will end up with a big scab for a few days. The part that really upset me, was that when I went to talk to a manager, she made me feel like the incident was my fault. That I should have known better than to get a wax because I use tumeric to treat hiper pigmentation on my lip! I went into the store to do something nice for my aperance and now I am leaving with an injury, which will most likely leave a mark and upset with the way I was treated. Not likely to shop there again.
This is the worst Ulta Location. The Salon people are not experienced enough. The shelves are rarely ever stocked. And the staff are the laziest people who can’t even do simple math at the register. Example: Me: I’d like to use this $10 off $40 purchase Cashier: It has to be a $40 purchase Me: Yes, my total is $88. Now annoyed Cashier: It has to be a $40 purchase Me: $88 is more than $40. Twice over, actually. Smacking gum and flicking nails Cashier: It has to be exactly $40 Me: The coupon says :$40 or MORE. would you like to just scan the coupon instead Of arguing with me?
My daughter ordered ( 5 )Tabitha Brown's Donna's recipe strength hair oil. She's getting ready to go back to school, so she stocked up. Customer service here was great, and she's excited about her purchase. She's been using this product, so she knows this is an investment in self care. You might want to stock up while it's on sale. It works, yall. Now I'm going to try it! So after Ulta had the sale, the online website had a cheaper sale. The difference is Ulta's bottles came sealed and online were not. I can't give them as gifts if they are not sealed.
Compared to Sephora, this place is trash. It's like going to Walgreens. No help. At all. Unless you are there towards close and they want you out of there. Save yourself the ghetto hassle and go to sephora and be treated like the queen you are! You get free mini makeovers and free gifts just for signing up for their rewards program! Which is also FREE! The new one in the French Quarter is bigger than the one in Times Square but you will always be helped with a smile by people who love their job and want you to leave happy! Ulta is a joke!
Everyone was so nice and so helpful... But the security lady made us feel so low.. she followed us around the store as if we were going to steal.. it was very rude and idk if I'd return to that store to much because of that( that's the only reason). But everyone else was super nice and the guy that was working helped my niece out so much so Thank you very much!!! and it was the day after her birthday so we were doing some extra birthday shopping so thank you for making her feel a little bit special.
Didn't have anything I was looking for, most of which was advertised as "Available in store". There were no employees around to offer assistance. I had to repeatedly bother the only employee on the floor while she was trying to set up displays. At the end of the nightmare, I ended up purchasing nothing more than a $2.49 e.l.f product that only costs $2 everywhere else. Highly disappointed. Sephora makes ULTA look second hand and poorly run. Sephora will get my money from now on.
Staff was and is always friendly. I required help this visit attempting to purchase a new brand of foundation. The sales lady was super friendly and answered all my questions. Although I understand testers aren't allowed during covid times, testing products always helps me decide. I do like the return policy in place that you can return for a refund or exchange if the color doesn't work. I had a hard time finding prices of many items, especially the clearance section.
What is more important? Assisting the client that is in front of you? Or telling them, sorry, I have too many online orders and there is only 2 of us working?…..— This place needs to be trained on how to serve their customers. Customers physically present at your store should be priority! If there is not enough staff, then shut down the online purchase option. I will never visit this place again. By the way.. I only needed to know the location of a product.
Went to this location and was met with better results than the Clearview locale. I purchased the Tammi and makeup revolution eyeshadow palette. It was easy 2 find, the employees greeted me immediately upon entry, no1 "hovered" about me and when questioned about an advertised sale no1 was like "what sale". Anyway the cashier was extremely friendly and my receipt says her name was MARIAH. Really sweet, nice, personable and engaging. She made my visit FANTASTIC!
Store always looks like a tornado of ppl came thru. Tons of useless staff members just standing around gossiping ignoring customers. I've never managed to get a question about a product answered nor been treated with the slightest resembalnce of customer service any of the times I've been in (and I'm a super easy customer). Lost my business for good. I also know a hairdresser that worked their briefly and was very poorly treated.
I rather this location than Elmwood due to stocked shelves, customer service, ease of convenience, and the location. I’m trying this bio-oil for the first time due to the raving reviews from a couple of people that I know. Parking isn’t really bad in my opinion and there are food joints close by once you tire out from shopping. Give this store a try! The saws associates are pretty knowledgeable about their products!
Beware prices on the shelves aren’t correct. I bought a mascara ($8.99) and a foundation ($12.99) and I got charged $10.99 and $14.99, respectively. When I showed the prices to an employee, she said both tags were wrong and that I got charged the right amount, that’s it. I don’t know if that’s a regular business practice but I don’t appreciate false advertising, so I won’t be coming back.
This Ulta has horrible customer service. I've visited more than a dozen times and I only remember 2 pleasant experiences. I have an ultra card that I will not be using anymore due to the horrible customer service. I can get the same products and at times better prices on amazon. I wanted to support brick and mortar stores but horrible service makes it easier to switch to online shopping.
This is my favorite Ulta store ever. Amazing selection. Last week the staff was also super helpful when I was looking to get my eye makeup done for an event. They were patient and helpful with my hopeless self. If you need anything beauty supply related, this store and staff are the greatest.
Not helpful at all. You need to go to the one in Harahan if you actually want help, make an appointment or have a question. This one never has time to help you same day. Only 1 person working the floor and brow bar. Harahan has a minimum of 3 people on the floor at all times.
Was a little hesitant about getting my eyelashes done at the brow bar. The specialist, Loreal made everything so much comfortable with the application of my individual lashes. She extremely friendly and welcoming the entire time. Natural lashes complete …
Excellent selection of black hair care products and makeup for women of color. They had the new Tracee Ellis-Ross Pattern Line, Shea Moisture, Juvia Makeup palettes. Clean organized store. The sales people made this a pleasant shopping experience.
Worst ulta ever!!!!!! The store was basically empty with two cashiers, the line was short with only 3 people and I still stood there for almost 10 minutes. When it was time for me to ring up the other woman left out of nowhere with another
This place is ghetto. They gossip and talk about customers on the employee headsets. They don’t know how to color match and they follow you around and never assist customers. Nothing is ever in stock as the website states. The manager with
Associates are helpful; I prefer this location over the Harahan location because it is not as busy and associates actually have the time to help you. I have picked up online orders and shopped in store. Their manager Chryshell, is amazing!
Always Clean, The Workers and Security Guards are very welcoming and nice! I love the Selection of Becca Products Its A must buy it last so long even when wearing it in A Humid city! The Manager there is not the best I must say!!
I'm unsure if they were rearranging or what but the store seemed lacking in a lot of products. Shelves were empty. Also many lines formally carried by Ulta seem to have been squeezed out by new brands. Disappointed.
Didn't even acknowledge me, and when I asked a question the representative did not even look up at me from her phone, and she was just clearly texting someone. The costumer service here was unprofessional.
Minda in the salon is fantastic! My color, cut and hair treatment were above what I asked for. She is fun to chat with and I am behind happy with the results. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Got my haircut with Ashley, she was very friendly, and attentive. I love my new look! The store seemed to be organized well and all the employees were very helpful and friendly
I have visited the salon and brow bar, both experiences were great! Paige did a phenomenal job on my hair. She is very sweet, listens to what you want and knows how to cut!
The store is good, except no air conditioner. But don’t go to the saloon, súper impuntual and some of the personal they don’t even know how to cut hair
The staff is not helpful and look at you like your stealing, i just don't like this store, and if your black good luck if they even acknowledge you.
Don’t waste your time! They never have anything in the store even when it says they do online.. save yourself a trip and order online or elsewhere.
Rude staff, walked and a young lady was on her cell phone too busy to say hello. Two other staff passed me without saying a word. Not a good look.
There is always someone there to help you, and to show you where to find what you are looking for. I also like the verity of the products .
I could not be more impressed. Amazing customer service, clean well stocked store, and knowledgeable employees. Fantastic job, keep it up.
Daniella has been doing my hair for almost one year I love it and my hair has never been healthier. From my twist out to protective styles
Employees are very nice and ask if you need assistance! I had no problem finding what I needed! Very clean and relaxing environment!
The woman who worked with me on my brows was lovely...She was knowledgeable & more than willing to help on both sides of the store.
There is an amazing salon in the back of this store! Who knew?! And they perfectly handled my abundance of natural hair. Kudos!
My favorite place to go for makeup. Staff is always friendly and helpful. I just wish that they were better stocked sometimes.
The elmwood store found a product for me at another Ulta. And had them hold it. I was so impressed at the service. Love !!!
see, i love ulta as a whole but the manager jade has issues. fake friendly all the time and always got something to say!
I love the privacy, calmness, and professionalism while having a shampoo. They always offer cold bottles of water, too.
They are rude, This happend when I took my daughter on July 5 to shop, as we walk in nobody help her or offer her help.
The girls are so helpful, awesome and sweet! Rather the ELMWOOD location, they have a lot in stock as well. 10 stars
Had a great visit with Leah at the salon! She was super professional and fun! Did exactly what I asked for and more!
This trip in, I encountered a salesperson who was knowledgeable, helpful and has excellent Customer Service skills!
EXCELLENT service and selections. Overpriced. Would rarely purchases without a coupon or unless a sale product.
This location doesn't have the perfume section. The set up is a little weird. They did have a good selection.
Went in and out. Picked up a 3pk of poo pourri for someone for 9.99. Was in and out. Very busy shopping area.
one of my favorite stores, whenever me and my daughters are uptown we always find ourselves in Ulta Beauty
Enjoyed visiting this store. The personnel was extremely good looking, helpful, and very polite. …
You're helped right away if you seek for something and theres security in there. Nice, clean place.
Nobody asked if they could help me until I checked out!!! Wish they sold more Covergirl products!
They are not well stocked. The stylist and makeup people are inexperienced and ruin your hair.
This is a high scale store where the staff is very friendly and the products are top notch!
Ulta is Awesome! They have a huge variety of Hair Products,Flat Irons and Make up etc.!
it's lovely, but it closes at 8pm, normally don't have enough time shopping after work
Friendly staff helped me find what I needed quickly. Pleasant experience. Thanks!
Always excellent customer service. Extensive range of products and price points.
Really nice staff. This location is nice. Great marked down holiday items too.
Rude rude rude! Worst Ultra out there. Will go to a different one from now on.
Totally a great place to shop. Store was clean and employees very helpful.
There are not many options of product to choose from unlike in the Mall
Liked the service. Got what I wanted. Security made me a bit nervous.
A lot of choices in one place. Parking is difficult in peak times.
Stores closes at 8pm yet they lock their doors ten minutes before
I love, love, love Ulta. Everything beauty related in one place.
Whey wouldn't even give you a sample if you don't buy anything
Clean store, super helpful staff, it's just lovely all around
Great service. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable.
Individual eye lashes.. Go see Cydni!!! She is the truth!!!
