I attended Underhill Baptist Church for 12 months. My advice if you're looking for a caring community: Avoid at all costs! I had one of the ministers, Vania, use my painful past experiences to draw me into a "pastoral care/counselling" relationship with a huge power imbalance, which she used for her own advantage. When I started going to this Underhill, listening to the sermons preached, it all seemed lovely. After some time, especially behind closed doors with the minister, it was a completely different story! From my experience at Underhill Baptist Church, I no longer consider myself a Baptist or a Christian. The current Designated Persons for Safeguarding made huge failures, and the leaders of the Underhill DO NOT safeguard people. The current leadership create an illusion of caring, but they do not follow their own out-of-date safeguarding policies, hold themselves accountable, or even follow the gospel. The leaders of this church claim their mission is: “To know God and to make Him known." The behaviour demonstrated is opposite of this mission and Christianity.

Underhill Baptist Church is a friendly welcoming church which I have attended for the past 33 years. The gospel is always faithfully preached here, which is the reason I have continued to worship here in spite of being an Anglican!
