The only reason I'm giving Union Station three stars is because it's a beautiful, iconic space that has been restored to it's former glory. Taking any Metro train at any station is a depressing, usually foul experience. It's dirty, smelly, and at times dangerous. Having said that, Union Station, along with 7th Street Metro Station, are two of the worst. Anytime I have to take a train, I cringe. Especially in (Downtown) Los Angeles, although they don't run as frequently as pre-pandemic, there are plenty of public transportation options, but it's so bad, and so very unpleasant, that in the coming year, I'm buying a car.
Considering Los Angeles as the city of automobiles, I was surprised by just how extensive Union Station is. The building was designed by the Parkinson father-son team who are responsible for City Hall, the Coliseum and many other iconic structures around LA. The train platforms are accessed via a large tunnel ending at the bus depot side of the station. The gold line is accessed via the tunnel as well, whereas the Metro Red and Purple entrances are in the main building and bus depot.
WEEKEND ADVENTURE- LOS ANGELES TO SAN DIEGO On AMTRACK. Train seats are comfortable. The train tickets were OVERSOLD, with many people standing. The only reason we got a seat was my ingenious husband found us seats in the dining car. We decided to do entire trio without car. We walked to bus stop, and took Metro Bus to Union Station. The train left right on time. The reason for me 4 Star Review is for oversold seats. We are enjoying the view and our mini getaway♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Fantastic historic train station in the grand style. Very specious building with high ceilings. Limited food/beverage options but Wetzel's pretzels were very tasty. The public areas of the station, including rest rooms, were clean and easy to find your way around. For Amtrak trains, you have to get a 'boarding pass' but there are no signs informing the riders, only poor PA announcements.
I feel sorry for you if you have to use the restroom stalls, unfortunately there is no places for homeless people to use the bathroom so the restrooms always smell bad. The cleaning personnel do try to keep the place clean . The place does have nice architecture. On the plus side, there are places to buy snacks and water, Starbucks. You’ll survive your transit you know.
This is regarding the public transit in Los Angeles: the most terrible EVER!!! The recent "Fare Cap" is just an increase in the price for daily, weekly, and monthly passes. They claim that it's better to cap because you get unlimited rides after you "cap" at the daily of $5 or the 7-day/weekly of $18. WHO USES THE BUS OR TRAIN MORE THAN 2 OR 3 TIMES PER DAY???
This might be my favorite transit hub of all time. Because I had to reschedule Amtrak departure, I spent nearly 24 hours here. Everyone friendly, safe places to nod off for an hour or two, no worries about being harassed or molested or stolen from. Easy to rent locker space when I did travel for nearby food and sightseeing. Just about the gold standard.
Pretty decent station, fairly large. They could at least let you know what track your train is on though, that would help. The signs for example might only say "your train is on track 10" but there is track 10a, 10b, 10c, and 10d. I had no idea if I was in the right place until actually boarding the train, and that's unacceptable.
It is a testimony to not very adequate public transportation in this big city. The area is quite dodgy, although they have quite some helpful security officers around. Ticket offices closes quite early- for the tickets you need to get plastic cards first and to charge them. It is not evident if you don’t know that.
This is a pretty good transportation and railway station. It has timetables so you’ll be able to track your train on time, it’s got a straightforward pathway to the trains, so you don’t get confused, and some good shops and restaurants to stop at and get something from. Overall, it’s a great station!
Union Station is one of my favorite train stations cuz it's very convenient transferred from trains like Metro Red Line Gold Line Amtrak RTD bus Metro buses and great restaurants that they have there for example Wetzel Pretzel which is one of my favorite Pretzel shops in California
In order to avoid the long lines, arrive at the customer service office a little after 6:00 am during the week right after they open. I have always found the nice ladies here to be very helpful and informative. Two thumbs up for all they put up with and still act professionally.
Overall, great way to get around, pretty much connecting a majority, if not all, of SoCal. Yes, like any great metropolis, there are issues of different sorts. Use some street smarts and avoid bad situations. Is a destination too, because just across the street is Plaza Olvera.
It's more than a train station. It's your connection to the many destinations in the country. Great dining options. Starbucks, Subway, wine and bar, newsstand. Amtrak, Metrolink, Metro Red - Gold - Purple Lines, Amtrak Thruway, Greyhound, MegaBus and other transit.
Lovely station, I came just to check out the architecture, I’m from London and we have some pretty nice terminal stations, this is also really nice. Yeah of course there are some homeless people knocking about but this is typical of any major city station. Enjoy!
The central train hub of LA METRO, BUSES, and METROLINK. In my honest opinion there is nothing spectacular about union station, however, they have local art posted on the main tunnels. This station has restrooms (filthy), ATM, a restaurant and food stores.
Lovely architecture with lots of dope art. Peeps at the information booth are super nice and helpful and getting transportation from here is a breeze (free shuttles to and from Dodger Stadium if you're into that). The bathrooms can be kinda rough though..
There are never enough gold line trains at unions station. All other trains run more frequently. During rush hour going toward azusa people are waiting 20 mins and some are left behind becuae they can't fit. Please have better service going to Azusa.
Bunch of lazy people work here if you want to see a bunch of people crowded together like live stock come check it out. Homeless people on every train stinking up the whole place. people smoking on trains. sheriffs are to busy checking
Incredibly vast, open space. Beautifully decorated and clear enough to indicate the end of a long journey for those traveling from the east. Access to the busway and Metro are nearby the lobby, with a long walkway separating them.
Union Station is a central transportation hub to a variety of locations. You will find Los Angeles Metro stations here (Blue Red Purple and Gold Line), Express and local bus service, Flyaway service to local airports and Amtrak.

Very glad to take Metrolink everytime i come for furlough. I'd rather ride on them than struggling with people's driving skills of rushing n cutting n honking. Yeah thank you Los Angeles for this convenience....
So many options of where to go from here. Relatively easy to figure out where I was going and make my connections. Could have been a little clearer on where to get to my bus, but that's hardly a major complaint.
I will give you 5 I take metro 2 time for day care and nitgh time home bless sleep in metro LAP due good service city need to have law enforcement The metro thanks LAP and metro employees happy holidays …
Nice inside and easy to find your train if you have been there before, but newcomers or first timers are going to have a hard time understanding the sytem they have to find your train. Watch your wallets
Public transportation not really built in a good shape comparing with other new metros in Asian countries. The light rail is kind of sucks. Anyway the price of a single ride seems to be fair enough.
Pretty clean station with ordered divisions for different train lines and buses. Could have done with a little more direction boards near the purple and red line to guide better.
Fun spot to stop by. Definitely better taking the trains if you're jumping around L.A. driving will cut your enjoyment time, and the cost of riding a day pass isn't bad.
Cool building, historical and recognizable from movies. Trains depart here to either local or long distance destinations like either San Diego or Chicago with Amtrak.
Very cool, historic station. It was generally clean and well organized with easily understandable signage. Onboarding the train was challenging but not horrible.
Impressive architecture. But due to the general social issues in the U.S this place is a mess. Unsafe and dirty, like most of Los Angeles. Truly sad.
Out Side all Time sleep bus stop L.A.cite ☯️eat and food's red eye …
Not your normal l.a. union Station. It was slow and quiet at the time of visiting. Because of covid-19. Will see you on my next to union Station
Trains and subway are centralized from this location. There is a Starbucks and other places to eat and get items needed when traveling.
Bit of a homeless problem like literally any place in LA but apart from that it's a impressive station with cool architecture.
Nice historic building. Not sure about the area or transit situation. Met a friend there and he drove to another part of town.
There was trash in the elevator floors, and the elevators smelled like bio... at least the long corridor walkway was nice
Only real train Amtrak/Metrolink departure and arrival information boards located at the main entrance grand hallway.
I love this place. Because it has restrooms and restaurants while your waiting for your metrolink or shuttle.
Can get packed, and if you are new to the ststion, it'll probably be confusing. They need more bathrooms!
Very well to get around, just too many people in the concourse. Lost the variety of stores though
Great travel stop. They don't make current buildings with this magnificent architecture anymore.
Pay for parking, pay the fare X2 for round trip and any non free transfers, and pay in TIME.
Very central and the BoltBus from SF came right to the station I'm taking a train from!
Excellent train station, easy to navigate and lots of stores to shop at for any needs.
The gold line service is reliable and convenient. The platform in over ground.
Beautiful architecture, easy to find where to go to catch your train or bus.

Very historically maintain. One of best train station. Love the decor
It still smells real bad there even though they clean it all day long
Busy. Great to commute via train from Los Angeles to Orange County.
The workers here are the least trained in customer service.
The historical location that is not well maintained.
A major junction to which several lines are linked
Cool architecture to look at while you wait
Pretty well maintained historic station.
Easy and fast gets me were I am going.
Underground parking for 8 bucks a day
