First off....Trina is super cool and very professional. Heck....EVERY employee here is really cool, and they do their best to stay that way when faced with some pretty stubborn and ignorant customers. I get it. Sometimes the place is a mess. Well, it is a THRIFT STORE, and people ramshackle this place looking for deals just about every day of the week. They do their very best to make it look presentable. And it shows. 8m always finding something I need...or something I really DON'T need, but buy anyway. Sometimes the prices are a little higher on certain items....moreso than what I would think is reasonable. But that does not happen too often, and if it does, I find other things here that are practically a steal. So it all works out. We need this place, and we need these people. Being a blue collar guy with a lower income AND still going to school to get my masters....well.... I can't do it with the wages I make. That is why this place helps tremendously. It's clean, and has tons of things you actually need at your disposal (for a fee, of course, lol!). Plus, if there is anything my family has taught me, is that there is no shame in buying second hand. And this store makes you feel like you should make buying second hand a top priority...and without breaking the bank. Thank you to everyone that works here and puts up with my pain in the rear questions as well. Going to thrift stores is a fun experience and one I wish to share with my kids as well Post Script. I understand that people are frustrated at times with the selection of items and clothes at this location (and about every other location, I'm sure). Think of it this way. They put out what is essentially donated to them. If you check back every week or so, I guarantee that you will find things there that you didn't see before, and that will be to your benefit somehow. Cheers.

After visiting many of the Chicago thrift stores, I can say that Unique on Halstead is one of my favorites. I find there is a decent turnover of goods every week, even throughout the week so I never feel I am going to the same store. The employees are friendly and work hard, notably Ruben and Deja who I run into most frequently (and know their names. All the other employees are great too!). There's always a security guard on duty and she's friendly too. Prices are hit or miss. Sometimes I find really fun items for $30 worth $500 and other times I find broken, basically worthless, items for $10. If you have an eye for a deal, this Unique is worth your time, especially Tu-Sa. Mondays are chaotic and patrons trash the place. Items are half off so you have to move fast and throw stuff on the floor? Sure... but the store always looks good by Tuesday. Sundays feel very similar to Saturdays, so I would rather go on Saturday. Overall, really fun store. Always enjoy the vintage items, jewelry, games, and so much more. So don't shop here so I can get all the good deals!

I used to LOVE shopping here. I'm not sure who started doing the pricing, but for the past couple of years it's kind of ridiculous. I've found literal dollar tree items marked $4, plain white no name t-shirts for $3-5... you can get a package of 6 on Amazon new for $12-15. I stopped by last week and saw a busted pair of rubber Birk's for $20 and online new they run $30-40... and these were far from new. You might be able to get over the ridiculous overpricing IF they continued their colored tag sales... but the last few times I stopped in, there wasn't even the hanging sign anymore where they would put what colors were on sale. It's unfortunate because it is so convenient and the staff are super nice and helpful, but it's like if it's an emergency I'll stop in, otherwise I shop online where new items are priced lower, or go to another, more reasonably priced store.

We went to 5 thrift stores today - and of the 5 this had the best prices - still pretty high for place that gets Direct donations - we liked it because they are networked with the DC - Baltimore unique stores and we practically have a lifetime supply of discounts (we thrift a lot!) I find it hilarious that stores with 1/1000th the reach eBay, want to charge ebay prices but won’t back up their stuff. It gets 3-stars for price-gouging.

I have been shopping here fatefully just about every Monday for the last 14/15 years because you get 50% off on this day. I also donate there whenever I can! Now it is mandatory that you have an email address and phone number to get your 50% discount. Just because Unique wants to generate a data base to sell to the highest bidder we should not lose our 50% off. Not to mention those poor people who don't have a phone or email address. This is patently unfair and I intend to contace consumers affairs about this mandatory email and phone number you have to supply for the discount! I WILL NOT SHOP AGAIN UNTIL CHANGES ARE MADE!!

first time visiting this thrift store. When I first walked in, frames are neatly displayed. I kept walking and I really did like that the place is very well organized. As I kept strolling some stuff did catch my attention as I look things are broken and OVERPRICED. i feel like the employees that price the items are not doing a good job a separating items that shouldnt make it to be displayed. example, I saw soo many outdated calendars still $5.99, i felt offended. I didnt buy anything walked empty handed.

I used to really like this store but the prices are insane- even on half price day, which is so busy it’s hard to shop and there’s nothing left anyway! $12 for fast fashion worn out stretched out pants, asking $25+ for most Jackets and some coats were $50! Even saw $30 for a polyseter shein jacket and $8.99 for any shirt that isn’t a dirty old t-shirt? Even sweaters with visible stains? No thanks ! It’s insane to me also because they get all this stuff for free and pay their employees minimum wage.

I just moved into the area and from the reviews I was nervous about shopping here but I went anyway because I’m on a budget. The staff was genuinely friendly and the place was a little over stocked but it’s a thrift store and holiday season so of course a lot of people are donating. I bought a fur winter coat, a few accessories, some sweater, some plaid shirts, and some pants all for a lil over $100. My experience was fair and will be returning.

Used to frequent this store but I won’t be coming back. The morning shift manager makes her own rules separate from other locations and return policy. I have contacted corporate and I will be avoiding this store. Like others have stated there is no fitting room. The selection is hit or miss and sometimes overpriced. They recently added double racks to the store which makes shopping the isles almost impossible at times on busy days.

Don’t waste your time going to this store . They are a thrift store with department store prices or eBay prices Levi’s jeans I was looking at were priced 25 dollars used you can buy the same jeans at Ross or Marshalls brand new and cheaper price I could see if they were vintage Levi’s from the 80s then maybe I would pay those prices but they were not .NOTHING ABOUT THIS STORES SAYS THRIFT STORE

Quick lines and organized. Some items overpriced but they are still reasonable for a thrift shop. They used to have 3 colored tags discounted at different amounts but today was only 1, not sure if something new. I would suggest they ask customers to keep their children with them instead of running around or playing with the toys while they shop, especially during this pandemic.

  • Katelyn Krulek

I've been thrifting my entire life and can definitely say this place is a waste of time. I never write reviews but this place is very much overpriced. $40 for a glass bowl? $4 for a bath towel? $8 for a tank top? You might as well buy new at Target because you'll spend the same amount of money. The selection is not great and definitely not worth the money they're asking.

  • Mikeman199988

Lady at the jewelry counter was like, "No! You have to pay over there! Like, geez, isn't your job that miserable to begin with? You should have told me more nicer, and then I would say something. I am sticking with the location on Kimball and Elston. That place is better. As for that brunette lady at the jewelry counter who was rude to me... Learn your manners.

  • Lachlan Brockmiller

Everyone who is crying how expensive this thrift store is has not been to many else in Chicago. I bought a pair of jeans for $11 to give you an idea of the money your paying here. And the sore is stocked to the brim with clothes with similar prices. Chicago is expensive so I don’t think it gets better than this. Would have hoped for better mens selections

  • TANYA HICKS

I used to come here more when they had sensible prices on their second hands. Some items had holes in them for sale. Do better pricewise shopping at Forman Mills and Burlington for never worn intimates. Shop here with 80 yr old Mom more of our outting. Overall if you find prices unreasonable put the item down.

  • Darrin Durden

10/10 all the employees where super nice they had the shoes my daughter always wanted I will come back there when I get the money and yea I do recommend you guys go there they might be a thrift store but they got a lot of good things and my other daughter loved the giant unicorn she always wanted

  • Belen Maldonado (Belen Maldonado)

Overpriced. Lots of dated clothing, anything worth buying is $6 and up which is pretty lame considering they get everything for free. It's worth it to go if you have a coupon but honestly the other uniques in the city are priced more fairly I think

  • spencer jackson

The staff aren’t friendly at all. There used to be some workers there that were nice but they’re gone. Melina is the nice manager. There was a nice girl there Denice she helped a lot now she isn’t there. won’t return now the place is horrible.

  • Alyssa C

Visited 12/7/23 at approx. 1-2pm. Dirty and very overpriced, even half-off day would still be overpriced. Sinister vibes from the security guard, she’s got a bad attitude as soon as you walk in the door? Attitude for no reason, very weird.

  • Elizaveta Levina

They do have amazing selection of stuff, but the prices! I just saw a $44 *used* Cath Kidston bag that had a $10 tag inside. So it was way cheaper before it came to the store. They offer member discounts though, but overall frustrating.

  • Julie Rieb Ruegsegger

Really good variety of decorative treasures and name brand apparel. There are a lot of jewelry options too. It is best to bring your own bag. Very friendly staff willing to help if needed. Definitely going back again …

  • Cord Thomas

One of the worse unique / savers we've been to just in terms of the amount of mess and disorganization everywhere. A lot of the items looked more used or dirtier than other thrift stores. Otherwise it was a classic savers.

  • Helen Rivera

Very expensive for a second hand store and the smell in there is of dirty old socks. It's nauseating. No more discount days from what I saw. You do self check out, which is an alternative to the long lines.

  • Jeremy Mathew

Not sure why a second hand target brand sweater would ever be $20. Y’all seriously need to get a reality check on your clothing prices. I can find decent housewares here though.

  • don

Very good selection, aisles are are usually packed with clothing and other things, very organized. The prices are a little high but they have half price day on every Monday.

  • Marco Stevens

They are scammers, not serious and opportunistic. They are making money by cheating on poor people. They are receiving donations then selling them to customers.

  • Crystal Williams

I enjoy coming here than any other Thrift store. HoweVeR, How does Unique Thrift Store that aRe GiVen Free Donations charge yoU moRe than its original price?

  • Arantxa Ledesma

Great selection, sometimes you can really find great prices but sometimes some stuff are really overpriced, my favorite thing is the book section!

  • Micheal Newman-Brooks

My favorite thrift store! Well organized and the staff is great! Prices have increased recently it still better than retail!

  • Miriam Caccavallo

Prices are OUTRAGEOUS. went to look for Xmas decorations. $10 starting price on most things
