Update 4/13 : Mail service has resumed since the neighbor with the dog moved away. They are very vindictive at this post office! Beware 97206 postal customers!!! The mail on our street hasn't been delivered for 6 weeks now because a small dog somewhere way down the street nipped at a post man and was immediately taken into custody by Multnomah County Animal Control. THE DOG WILL NOT BE RETURNED TO ITS OWNER! Despite that fact (which I found out from Consuela at Consumer Affairs at the main Hoyt Post Office) Creston Station Manager Jeremy Blow somehow avoided a non-existent dog in order to put a letter in all of our mailboxes explaining why they wouldn't be delivering mail to our street anymore because "the employee is not safe on this block due to this (sic) being attacked and bitten". Instead, we all have to pick up our mail from the post office during a very limited window, and if you work 8-5 Monday through Friday like I do, then you get your mail once per week. Apparently they've managed to exploit this incident even more by convincing the Portland Officer in Charge, Anthony Spina-Denson that we need a cluster box put in at the end of our street someday, in the unknown future. While the post office refuses to deliver to my side of the street, there is a trailer park directly across the road from me that is delivered by another postal employee, and this employee has no problem getting out of his vehicle to open a gate and drop off mail to each of the rv's parked there. The UPS and Fed Ex people also have no problems dropping off packages to myself and my neighbors either. Portland, let this be a warning to you since the USPS is looking for any excuse to save money, and they apparently see our poor part of town as the best place to start. Do you have a neighbor on your street or block with a dog that could potentially chase the mailman? If so, your mail service could be in danger too, and then what are you going to do about it?
Usually when I go to this Post Office, I am only dropping off prepaid packages for my online business and they all go out on time with no issues. However, when I have needed to actually interact with a clerk, there has always been issues. Being that I've only needed a clerk a handful of times, this is a bad impression. Very bad. The first three times, there was always a long line (worse than the expected 10 minute wait at other POs.) I've spent close to 1.5 hours combined for three individual visits that the transaction only takes 3 or so minutes for. This appears to mostly be due to understaffing or a failure to schedule properly as there's rarely more than 1 clerk available. The incompetence was taken to a whole new level today however as not only did I have to wait 30 minutes to pay for 4 outgoing pieces, but when it came to pay, I got told she has not had cash all day. I literally needed a dollar or so in change. After waiting another 10 minutes for the "manager" to bring cash, the clerk then tried to just make the change without providing a receipt. When I informed her I needed a receipt for business purposes she let out a deep sigh. She then told me the manager hadn't set up her computer for cash yet and I yet again had to wait as he was in the bathroom now. I ultimately had to leave without a receipt as I needed to pick up a kid from school. Never once did I receive an apology for the inconvenience or waste of time. I've never experienced this level of disorganization and lack of customer service before and have finally made my mind up to take the extra 5 minutes in travel time in the other direction to go to the other, more competently managed Post Office for now on. *the only reason I give this post office two stars instead of one is because there is one extremely friendly gentleman that works as a clerk occasionally and is always courteous and professional even on long days
I run a small business selling industrial components on ebay. I have always shipped my goods with USPS flat rate boxes.Today I brought a box this USPS office. The employee remarked that the box is heavy, carried it to the deep steel bins behind the counter and dropped my package 5' straight down; Where it slammed onto the steel floor of the box. I was stunned! I exclaimed you can't do that! You can't just drop my package 5' straight down onto steel. She said "it wasn't marked fragile" and that it would be "dropped when it was delivered". I took a picture of this nutjob and said if my goods were damaged when they arrived I'd take action. She laughed and sneered, "if you have shipping insurance you can claim that!" The photo was taken at 04/18/2014 at 4:25 PM. She likely destroyed my goods at 4:20PM. I can't imagine their insurance provider would think much of their insureds willfully destroying customers packages. As I left the store the employee called me a "creep". I have always done business with the USPS, but I can't believe the entitlement, recklessness and rudeness of the employee at this branch. If ever there was a bad apple this is one of them. I will never ship equipment with these people again. It might be okay for sending letters or clothing, things that can't be destroyed by reckless handling.
Today I stopped by to drop off a package. This is my neighborhood post office. I am in the service industry so I am considerate and always patient with the employees. Most of them go above and beyond so my experiences are usually pleasant. Today however I needed a piece of tape so I could get this small priority package on its way. CONNIE laughed at me and said “we sell tape” as she pointed to the retail area. She then grabbed the priority tape gun right next to her and said “in the future we do sell tape.” As if she pays for it? I said do they ask you to say that? She said no.. I said well I’ll let them know you are. She said “ my name is CONNIE” as she pointed to her badge. I just said wow thanks for making me feel welcomed here and walked out biting my tongue. So embarrassing and unnecessary. I will be forwarding this on.
This is a tricky review to write. I've been going to this Post Office since 2004, so I've had a fair amount of experience with it. On the one hand, the staff is really great. Friendly, helpful, and often funny too- pretty much the exact opposite of the surly, frazzled stereotype. However, there's rarely enough of them. Even at non-peak hours in the day you're liable to wait in a line, watching civilizations rise and fall before your turn. So the staff is an Excellent, the wait and the hours are a Poor to Fair, thus averaging out to a solid "Good". If you're going to need assistance I'd definitely recommend it. If you're just going for a quick package drop-off, and there's more than six people in line, come back another time or go elsewhere.
I have the mail bound to my house, routed there. (Zipcode) . Mail I send outbound, is processed on to the mail Post office downtow. Any mail dropped around town, is sent to the main branch, sent over to the airport to be sent on. Stuff for my ex wife , grandaughters ( Indiana), get processed down to stuff for in state-( Oregon), friends, and so forth. Street side boxes, I havent a clue. I dont work there. Doubt this helps. You might get better answers, by going inside & ask. I know. Sucks, but best i can tell you. I have Company box dowtown office just a small one. I check every week, or so. Near Amtrack/Greyhound. All else is sent to house. Best i can offer.
This Post Office is located fairly close to my house, and I've been going here for years. It is fairly busy, and there are usually only two employees working. The last time I went in I waited for approx. 30 mins. All of their electronic systems had gone down, and they were cash only. Although customers coming in were clearly displeased, the employees were making the best of it, making transactions go as quickly as possible, and multitasking the heck out of this post office. It was impressive. I have had similar things happen in my workplace, and everything has gone to hell. I don't even have to deal with the public. They were champs. A+!!
I have used this branch for my home pickup of my ebay items to the tune of $25,000-$30,000 a year since 2001....I cant even get them to answer their damn phone....everytime they put someone else on the route they totally skip me and then i have to answer to my customers...I have been trying to contact them for 2 days and they wont answer the phone.....I'm done....fedex is proving to be my best option at this point....just soooo tired of the horrible service!!....they should at least be treating me as a somewhat valuable customer considering ive spent over $400,000 with them!
This is how my 97206 mail carrier delivers and leaves my packages, begging for someone to steal my stuff. It’s not even a felony because they don’t have to open the mailbox to take it. Get out of the jeep and leave it on my doorstep LAZY!! Yes, I will find an official way to complain, but for now be very ashamed. Don’t be surprised if my mailbox pull is covered in patiouli oil tomorrow!! Neighbor reports he’s actually thrown a box of his, instead of entering the gate! Update: Made official complaint and got a note from Post Master that the carrier had been spoken to..
The rudeness from the clerks at this station that others have reported may have more to do with management breathing down their necks to "process" each customer as quickly as possible. I received good, courteous service here today but I did get the impression the clerk had no time for small talk, even though I was the only customer. I can only imagine they're closely monitored and their jobs are on the line if they fail to meet management's expectations, which are historically dictated by a "bottom line" vs. the customer's satisfaction.
I made an error and sent a package to my old address. It was on its way back to the shipper. After tracking down the package to this location, I went during a lunch break to pick it up. I was really grateful to the USPS staff member who tracked down my package in only 5 minutes from the time I walked into the store! I wasn’t late getting back to work and I wasn’t out this lovely present for my daughters birthday! Thank you for helping a little 4 year olds birthday! Thank you for your hard work USPS!
the post master is very professional, personable, and addresses my concerns with plenty of concern while having no problem with it on video. I didn't receive my election ballot, neither did my 4 roommates, the post master appeared to do everything to remedy that as well as other outstanding issues of getting mail for people who i have made clear in the past don't live at my house. Other services or shipping was very professional and perfectly delivered.
The people here are *wonderful*. The gentleman who has helped me several times (Warren, I believe?) always has a warm, good humor and big smile. He finds little ways to help me ship my packages for the cheapest rate. Another woman working there went and made several calls to arrange my mail to be rerouted back to me because she inferred I'm a biker and my post office would be hard to reach--all on her own initiative. Thank you all!
The door to this building broke my girlfriends arm while in her wheelchair when the wind blew the door into her arm broke it clean she was on the ground the whole time nobody showed she had to call 911 herself nobody cares no attorney will sue the post office this post office does not care about personal injuries, are there any lawyers out there that does not mind fighting the postal service? please PM me if so.
I was the third person in line and waited over 30 minutes for service. When I arrived there were three USPS associates helping with counter service then one left (presumably for a break) then another left, leaving only one person to serve 8 people in line. Its no wonder USPS is failing its customers allowing other delivery services to take up this space. I will never go back to this facility again.
Absolutely the worst service of any courier office, unsurprisingly, since USPS service is ALWAYS terrible. The employees at the desk avoid doing any actual work at all costs. If they can't immediately throw the box into the back, it's YOUR problem now. Highest prices too, of course. I can't wait until these guys go under for good and a millennial starts a decent courier service.
I came in during the holiday season. They were so kind and courteous. There was a woman (USPS representative) up front helping out with anyone paying with debit or credit card. I packed my tikka sauce jars in priority mail. She even supplied me with tape and scissors free of charge. Wow. I think this may have been the easiest and most convenient post office trip ever. Thank you
Was told that they could hold a package that was labeled deliverable and called today to see if I can come pick it up and they shipped it back already! I was completely lied to. I have been waiting for this birthday present for a week and now I don't have it. Horrible customer service, the man I spoke to told me that she was wrong and well I was SOL. Nice job USPS. Not!
Terrible service. There is always long lines, the people behind the centers are just too "chatty" and can't seem to realize that some of us have been there for 20 minutes. Then one lady took a break. I guess customer service is secondary to her and her break is more important. I hate doing business with the USPS because of the poor service.
No ones "going postal" here.. it's a small post office but the workers seem content and may even tell a joke on occasion. I usually leave here less frustrated than when I leave other post offices. Three stars to that! (It is still a government office run by process and bureaucracy, three is about as high of a rating as they can get, sadly.)
Annette and her staff went above and beyond to help me with a number of misshipped packages that were due to go back to the shippers. They were able to locate the packages just before they left the dock and most importantly, they helped me without reward or incentive -- totally out of goodness! THANK YOU, USPS staff at Creston!
This place is a joke. How about answering your phone every once in a while? I've been trying for 3 days, it just rings and no one picks up. They also just randomly decide to keep packages at the post office instead of delivering them to my house...for no apparent reason...hence me trying to call them.
Took two weeks to get our mailbox key and then shortly after that it stopped working. Someone came from post office to verify and said lock must've been changed (why?!) and would look into it. It's been another 2 weeks and have heard nothing back. No one will answer the phone there either.
Staff is always friendly. I am in about once a week to pick up my mail. If the line is long they often have staff ask if anyone is in line just to pick up a package (that's me!). This truly is a neighborhood "business" that is a pleasure to use - not your typical post office experience!
An employee at this location is currently stealing mail out of my PO box. They have stolen a check and left the envelope! They also stole a laptop computer that I had delivered here. Ruth H is the supervisor there and I believe she is making these thefts since she won't open a case.
Thank you for going the EXTRA mile and getting my grandson's birthday present delivered on his birthday after some unfortunate package routing difficulties ! He loved it !…and it's not quite the same if you get your birthday present 2 days later… * * * * * 5 STARS from me * * * * *
Mail carriers have poor communication skills and picks and chooses when to provide mail service. Don't dare try calling their phone lines and leaving a message to be returned, you wont just sit on hold forever but typcially you're disconnected instead of answered.
Im in there at least once a week. I've lived at my current place 19 years. They are downright fun. The entire building radiates laughter.I genuinely enjoy going because of them. Always fsst and friendly. An menial task made bearable by pleasant happy folks. A+
I love this post office. Warren was super helpful in explaining the different shipping methods to me and making sure I got the best price. He also lended me a little tape. Sounds small, but it really made my day. And helped me with my business! Thanks, Warren!
Why does everyone hate their job at the post office? This location actually has a dude who loves working there and is happy to deal with customers, so not quite the DMV experience you expect if you get lucky and get him; otherwise, yeah it's the post office.
I've used this post office for twenty years. The clerks are saints of patience, pleasant and go beyond their call of duty. If Warren was moved please return him! He's incredible and yes, deserves a big fat raise and a giant apple pie. Five hundred stars.
Whenever we are expecting a package, I RUN to my door to get it. Usually I make it or if I don't they are just getting into their truck. This morning whoever our carrier was BARELY knocked. I couldn't even tell if the noise was a knock or
Parking can be tough, but they move people in and out very quickly. Nguyet was the most helpful USPS worker I have ever met. She very sweetly and kindly took time to explain to me the most efficient ways to package and mail things.
Jerome and Bing saved the day! Mailed out two items and remembered that I needed another service added to one of them after I got home. I hurried back and these two moved heaven and earth to modify and correct my mistake. Amazing!
This was an easy post office to use and I’ll be back. A word of warning however to my fellow eBay sellers, the website estimated $21 to ship my package and when I got there USPS charged me $54. That comes right out of my profit
Had trouble with our mail delivery that we were able to resolve by going in. Physically impossible to file a complaint as they never answer their phone and you are unable to hit the “submit” button while using Safari on iOS.
Best post office around by far. Staff are friendly and helpful. A vast departure from other Portland locations (cough eastport cough). Credit to the staff and the post master for fostering a positive workplace culture!
I have always had great service and with smiles. Even at Christmas with the long lines, the lines moved surprisingly fast. It's the best PO I've ever used. Oh, and they need and deserve their break times.
Always long lines. Customer service would have been much more pleasant if the customers would not have been asked to buy a tape (after standing in line) every time the use of tape is needed.
Haven't received mail in 3 days despite the app saying I have some coming. Try to call and find out why and all you get is automated recording. USPS is just a sham of a business these days.
Cute little old post office. Staff were ok. No line. But not many options for stamps. It's a little wonky trying to get into this place the way the road and parking lot is situated.
I'd leave my mail here every day! Maybe multiple times. Friendly and efficient, the postal service (when not under dubious leadership) runs well and treats you right.
A good location full of knowledgeable and helpful folks. Warren was very patient with me and helpful while figuring out the money orders I was getting.
I love this P.O. They are so friendly and helpful. I know when their busy times are and try to avoid them, but if I can't, I just wait and be patient.
This is my neighborhood post office and they have been so fantastic and helpful for all my mail and shipping needs. I am so thankful for them.
All ways good . some times the line is long . But over all the folks that work hear are awesome. and it does what it is suppose to do for a PO
Warren is the nicest and most helpful USPS employee I have ever met. I will continue to do business at this location so long as he is there!
This used to be my neighborhood post office, but I still make the extra drive to do my shipping here. Warren always does a great job!
Warren brightened up my day with his happy-go-lucky attitude! Thank you to the staff for making a shipping run a little less bland.
I come here about once a week and the staff are always incredibly kind and friendly. Best postal workers I’ve ever met.
Warren is a national treasure. A beacon of light in a questionable world. edit: the post office is good too.
friendly and knowledgeable staff that seem to genuinely enjoy their work and interactions with the public
I LOVE this post office. The staff are friendly and jovial, helpful and kind. I never leave unsatisfied.
As good as you can expect any post office to be. They've never been anything but nice and helpful to me.
Warren will forever be my favorite Post Office Clerk. He is the hardest and most efficient worker there!
USPS defines government customer service. Over 1 hour wait time on the phone. Very unprofessional.
The employees at this location tend to be extremely patient, generous and helpful. Go to this one!
The dude here was super helpful and pleasant, saved me money and was in & out super quick …
I had to leave without shipping out my PKG. The line had 8 people but it just wasn't moving.
Best post office ever, hands down. Super friendly and helpful staff. Definitely a rare gem.
Going to the office itself is fine, my only issue is that they lose a 4th of my packages.
The best post office staff, we always go here when we come to Portland from Corvallis, OR
Nicest post office staff I’ve ever experienced. The blonde woman was so kind!
Great tiny Post Office. Friendly employees can make each day brighter
My first time here and Warren was awesome! Quick and such a delight!
Great customer service! It just sucls there is no kiosk here.
Wait time was short and Warren was very helpful and friendly.
Line out the door, only one person working, slowly working
The staff should receive awards for how friendly they are.
Slow service by understaffed, disenchanted gov't workers!
Always enjoy going here. Super nice people working there.
Awesome service every time I go in. Bravo people. Thanks
Postal workers were so helpful and fun! Easy and quick
Warren always has a great attitude and friendly!
Usually a bit of a line, but a nice place.
I love my neighborhood Post Office!
Almost as insufferable as the DMV.
My most trusted post office. :)
Very nice and helpful staff.
Very friendly service
