Un établissement qui dit s'appeler université mais qui fonctionne comme une école. Des frais de scolarité élévés à payer par tous, peu importe les ressources financières de l'étudiant, et qui ne sont remboursés qu'à hauteur de 50% après retenu de 100€ par semestre par l'établissement octroyant les bourses (les autres 50% sont récupérables dans la partie prêt, à condition de la prendre donc à voir si cette partie sera remboursée). Inscription à refaire en milieu d'année pour le 2nd semestre de la même année académique avec des pénalités pour non respect des délais à payer correspondant au montant des frais de scolarité d'un semestre, autrement dit on paie 3 semestres pour occuper les bancs que pendant 2 semestres, sachant qu'on a moins de 1 mois pour faire cette réinscription entre le moment où les dates d'ouverture de l'inscription sont publiées et sa fermeture. Cette nouvelle est encore plus déçevante lorsqu'on est en 3e année de Bachelor (fin de formation de Licence) et qu'on paie 200€ (frais de scolarité) + 200€ (pénalités pour non respect du délai d'inscription en ligne et/ou de paiement des frais de scolarité) pour le dernier semestre. En effet, ce dernier semestre est consacré au stage en Bachelor Gestion, et on n'a pas cours du tout. La seule fois où on voit les murs de la "fac" c'est pendant les 1h de soutenance après le stage. Une scolarité quasi inexistante car ouverte que de 13:00 voire 13:30 à 16:00 du lundi au vendredi. Des changements d'horaires et de salles toutes les 5 minutes, donc il faut rester très vigilants, sachant qu'il faut vérifier 10 sites internet qui chacun donne des informations différentes (guichet étudiant, student webmail, moddle etc.). Des professeurs parfois incompréhensibles parce qu'ils n'enseignent pas dans leur langue maternelle ou la langue qu'ils utilisent dans la vie quotidienne (donc autre que le français). Un service de restauration trop cher, j'y suis allée qu'une seule fois et j'ai regretté surtout que c'était pas bon non plus. Avec tout ceci, je sais pas comment ils vont s'en sortir en voulant rajouter les étudiants de Master en plus des étudiants de Bachelor qu'ils ont du mal à gérer. Seul bon côté, dire qu'on a étudié à "l'Université de Luxembourg", capitale financière de l'Europe. En conclusion, à moins que vous soyez riches et que ne voulez pas foutre grand chose en cours, je vous déconseille. Je regrette parfois pourquoi avoir quitté l'université en France, alors que j'ai grandi et fait toute ma scolarité primaire et secondaire ici au Luxembourg.

Concebida por Baumschlager Eberle como el punto focal del nuevo campus de la Universidad de Luxemburgo y construida en colaboración con Christian Bauer & Associés Architectes, el edificio es un hito llamativo y muy visible. Lo que antes era el sitio de una planta de acero en el distrito de Belval de Esch-sur Alzette ahora es la pieza central de la nueva Ciudad de las Ciencias. La planificación se inició en 2007 y las obras de construcción en el año 2009. ""La casa del conocimiento" constituye el núcleo de la organización y las comunicaciones del complejo". La estructura horizontal y verticalmente alargada aloja la infraestructura general de la universidad, que fue fundada en el año 2003. Esto incluye salas de conferencias, salas de reuniones y salas de profesores, así como oficinas administrativas y sectores de catering. Los edificios adyacentes de los institutos individuales se relacionan claramente a la ubicación central, sus extremos frontales están agrupados alrededor de la Maison du Savoir y el edificio planificado de la biblioteca. La estructura busca construir un puente hacia el pasado, cuando el acero era producido en el sitio de 27.3 hectáreas en Terrace des Haut-Fourneaux. La torre de 18 pisos coincide con las dimensiones de los antiguos hornos de acero. La sensación de flotar se debe a las construcciones de hormigón pretensado que se proyectan más afuera desde el segundo piso hacia arriba. En términos de desarrollo urbano el proyecto se conecta de la Place du Saint'Esprit en el norte con los espacios abiertos de la biblioteca y del instituto en el sur. Así, la Maison du Savoir establece un contexto urbano sin perder su posición solitaria.

Even word terrible would not suit the university, it is even worse than that. First when I started to study my bachleor, I was excited about it but once I had to get into touch with the administration and people working, representing the university, it completely changed my point of view. Bad administration exists everywhere, it is clear. In Luxemburg it is inexistant which makes it even worse. A university that tries to get the image of good quality education and system is just a thin “façade “. There are some great professors but nothing anymore. Absolutely no interest to help out student, to give any further explanation…everything is about money and doing the absolute the bare minimum in everything. Impossible to get in touch for some questions with anybody from administration, very incompetent, lazy, and not interested people with big salaries that are always in holidays or “tele travail”. Perfect working place. I would definitely not recommend it to anyone, at least you are interested to pursue a career in Luxemburg. But, if you want to build a serious carrier, to get in touch with people ( professors, administration..) that are willing that the future students become specialists in their field and support, don’t study here. Also, the educational system in comparison to another countries, even France!!!, is more simplified. Less difficult, easier to pass, but high level of students that graduate? Looks like that. Conclusion, not study here if you want to be a good quality specialist and the people around you won’t encourage you to anything.

No permanent positions for women scientists. No career development for postdocs. No habilitation or equivalent. Too high teaching load for PhD students and postdocs. Some professors of the University do not give lectures at all. The University is also profoundly sexist. The few permanent positions in the last years went only for men that are often less qualified than the women but have no issues with moral compromises. if they want to get a permanent position, women have to accept a secretary-like position. The HR lies constantly, retain important and make false promises to employees that are never kept. HR and administration are completely incompetent or simple do not care that their mistake heavily impacts other people lives. They are always on some leave forget to send or forward documents. They are not even able to do the tax declaration correctly or pay bills on time. For people outside Luxembourg, the university lost 22 millions ( google it). They are so bad at administration that they mismanaged 22 millions. They spend 22 more that they planned to and were unable to justify it. I do not even achieve that ? Working at the university for at least postdoc has a long lasting negative impact on their careers as they are stuck at low levels salaries, do actually the jobs of personal that have permanent position but that are nowhere to see on one of the campus but never get the credit. Postdoc are the one that supervise most master and PhD students.

The University of Luxembourg (Uni. Lu) is a multilingual, international research university in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Very few scholarships for international students. However, there are student jobs in the University, which pay well to survive in Luxembourg. Tiny opportunities for part-time jobs outside the university and languages are a barrier on the way. I completed an MSc. in Integrated Systems Biology from Uni. LU. Excellent research opportunities at LCSB and other institutes. Hiring plenty of PhD students each year could be a good option for international students. The language centre offers French/Luxembourgish/English/Chinese/other language courses. Some other research institutes to look for a student job or internships are LIH, LIST, LISER, and IBBL (Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg). The SEVE is a place to seek help associated with housing/admission. The SEVE's service and employees are excellent, and they are always supportive. Student houses are highly competitive, so please book and contact SEVE (student office) beforehand. Housing is expensive, as usual. Professors are highly profiled and extremely friendly to help students in any situation. Contact a professor with a good CV and cover Email for student jobs or PhD positions; I believe if you have the potential, they will hire you.

Terrible terrible service! I did my Bachelor degree a couple of years ago and I tried calling them to ask how to request a duplicate of my diploma. I was on the phone for 1 hour!!!! And then it just hung up. I called back and the lady at reception told me if I couldn’t reach anyone I should book an appointment online to then drive to Belval which is 1 hour from where I live just to ask a question!!!! I mean this is the worst service I’ve ever experienced. So if you’re planning to study here please be aware of the slow processing, bad communication and terrible overall service.

All their money went to marketing. Organisation is nonexistent, Administration is the worst I ever encountered: no responses, really bad at communicating and incoherent and even worst if you are an erasmus student. Professors are lazy and do the bare minimum and don’t even speak proper english. Their condition to validate a diploma is really strict while education level is really not good compared to other european universities. student life is nonexistent Conclusion : If you don’t want to do your career in Luxembourg don’t study here !

Je suis dans cette université depuis deux ans et ai été scolarisée une année dans une université en France auparavant , le système d’enseignement est incomparable et me convient bien mieux ,le batiment est propre et très bien tenu et les toilettes le sont egalement, la qualité de cours est globalement très bien et on s’y épanouie correctement . Petit (gros) bémol cependant pour le parking ces derniers temps qui se trouve bondé à presque toute heure et fais que même avec de l’avance on arrive en retard par moments ..

Very good marketing and international outlook. When it comes the quality of teaching you will find that you are on your own. A few Erasmus events, there is a discrepancy between local and international students. Bachelor programs are in a mix of languages, masters in English or French. You will have classes with very specialized researchers, yet because they are so focused on their own work, you will not learn the general knowledge you expect.

Les bâtiments sont tout neuf et très modernes. Il y a des bars, des restaurants/snacks et j'aime beaucoup le côté ancien site sidérurgique... La bibliothèque est top! Néanmoins, quelque chose manque à cette université et je ne saurais dire quoi... Je pense qu'il n'y a pas assez d'étudiants encore et qu'il faut lui laisser le temps pour grandir et avoir une véritable âme d'université.

TOP notch conditions to teach or to learn. Very modern building full of tech to get the most of the learning you can get. There are restaurants ans well and so place where you can also work in a quiet environment, alone or with groups. The personnel/ staff is also very helpful and reactive!

I don't recommend anyone to come here! The worst university in absolutely everything, the secretariat and the administrative service in general deserve the main attention! Incompetent and completely irresponsible! They don't care about students!! Absolutely zero no one star!!
