Disclaimer: I am not a student at UT I did however take a photography class at ACC and we went to UT Austin campus to shot the architecture and sculptures. The campus itself is really beautiful, and I was impressed at the enormity of everything. However, while I was on my day visit there. I met a few UT photography students, and although they had been in their classes just as long as I had they had no clue how to shoot manual - and in fact were not even required to learn how to do so, nor were they being trained in lightroom. These are essential skills in modern photography, and it didn't give me a good impression on the quality of education that might be received there. I won't give this a negative review, because it would be unfair to judge the entire systems education based on my disconcerting glimpse.
I graduated from UT in 2013 with a major in Advertising. UT has a top Ad program, so I was very lucky to go there. It has a rigorous curriculum, but I graduated confident about going into the workforce. My overall experience was great! I would recommend it to anyway - football days, tailgates, Town Lake runs, great nightlife, dedicated professors, diverse student body, etc. There are a few setbacks though. For example, as an underclassmen, most classes are lecture classes, so you might get lost among the numbers. But you have to make the most out of the experience and seek for opportunities to succeed. Real estate in Austin is higher than average, so it might be a little expensive to live here. But this shouldn't deter anyway from going there. Hook 'Em, Horns!
The University of Texas at Austin (also known as Texas, UT Austin, or UT) is a publicresearch university and flagship institution of the University of Texas System. Founded in 1883, its campus is located in Austin, Texas, United States, approximately one mile (1.6 km) from the Texas State Capitol. UT Austin was inducted into the Association of American Universities in 1929, becoming only the third university in the American South to be elected. The institution has the nation's eighth-largest single-campus enrollment, with over 50,000 undergraduate and graduate students and over 24,000 faculty and staff.
It's one of the largest universities in the USA and also has many interesting buildings which are open for non students. The libraries are world renown, as well as the art collections. The Harry Ransom Center is home to the legendary Magnum Archive of photography. Sports is the big thing here however as the football program is near cult status among the students and alumni, as well as the wanna-be's. Also there is a great little park near the UT tower and the Horticulture's green house which has large group of friendly squirrels you can feed by hand.
Loved my time there. The campus is very big (but not overwhelmingly so), and one can walk to most classes in 10-15 minutes. Many choices of places to eat, either on the Drag or on the several dining rooms across campus. Only complaint about the campus itself is parking (which is either difficult to find or far away but always expensive, nonetheless), and the never-ending construction on campus, which can be quite an annoyance sometimes due to the route disruption or noise. Hook 'em!
Don't know much about the academics, but what an amazing and impressive campus. The Cathedral of Football that is their stadium is ridiculous. I don't know how visiting teams can come here and not break down into tears. Take a walk around to feel like a freshman again, just don't go streaking in the quad. The hills can be a bit strenuous, no wonder all the students are so thin. Either take a long walk from downtown or take the convenient and cheap pubic bus to the campus.
Harvard university would ever replace UT Austin was so this amazing country story before the new skyline. You could see country love stories in the restaurants it all vanity running wild. Really hope the new generation of new graduates of UT understand its preservation of spirit of Texas hope love being a free and humble cowboy. Such an amazing experience to go bar b q events at the football games. I think about UT at Austin "Spanish leather" amazing song.
Too big for its breeches. They don't care about the students and treat them as a source of income rather than young people to be molded into good citizens. They see themselves as a business that needs to be ever expanding and not as a school. Class quality is incredibly uneven. The school will always take the side of a bad professor rather than investigate a problem. The financial office uses threats and sarcasm when speaking to poorer students.
I bleed burnt orange. What is there not to like about UT? The academics are amazing, the atmosphere is great, it's in one of the best cities in the US, the pride people have for this school is amazing, and we have good sports (not counting our football season this past year). I am so glad that I chose to come here. I recently graduated in May and I will be starting by Master's here in the fall. I just couldn't leave :)
As a student at this University there is so many positive things I could share. The first is the beautiful scenery. Second, the pride within each and every longhorn. Third, the way you will learn about becoming the best you in a way that will change your life forever. If you're actually looking for a place to change YOUR world, come to the University of Texas at Austin.
On the whole, the professors are mediocre and many don't seem to care about the students. Most of the time, the university's staff act professionally, but occasionally they are unreasonable and incompetent. Many classes are too large. The campus and surrounding areas are overcrowded. UT is focused on maintaining its image instead of helping its students succeed.
Amazing University in Texas. The best gridiron team in the world as well. Dallas Cowboys. Checked the photos of the pool and all the outstanding surrounding areas. Now if only I had that when I went to school. Excellent work by all, from the Government, University association, parents, teachers, students and the construction company involved.
Great sprawling campus. Visited the Thompson Conference center for a graduation ceremony. The venue is located close to the LBJ presidential library. There are various pictures of famous people hanging in the hallway. The floor looks like it’s made of marble or white quartz, super fancy looking. The grounds outside look pristine.
Scenic, walkable campus oozes charm, history and fierce school spirit. Highlights include the tower, or "main building," the Darrell K Royal football stadium, Guadalupe Street's hip-ish Drag and, not least of all, one of America's most naturally attractive student bodies. Now, if they could just Hook'em-those academics. (^^)
Learned some cool stuff, met some cool people, but wasted a lot of time and money. parking is horrible.... And when they banned smoking on campus all they did was remove the campus ashtrays and trashcans. real bloomberg approach, lame and ineffective. good times though. will not be returning, but would recommend
This place makes me wish I was a student again, and I had gone here. They are amazingly liberal, have some of the best facilities in the world and the campus and its surrounding area is really beautiful. A lot of the facilities are open to the public, which is a really great thing for someone living in the city.
Proud to have earned my PhD at UT Austin, and in 2012, named a Distinguished Graduate of the Community College Leadership Program. Great school, high quality academic rigor. Excellent faculty, staff, students, curriculum, support and facilities. I highly recommend UT to future scholars. Hook em' Horns!
Even Far Better than anyone could have ever imagined it would Be! Just a real Dream Come True/Trew!!! Longhorn Country & Nation here indeed! Indeed! Immaculate and blows TexasA&M, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, MIT, Alabama, ou, & All the rest hands down without question!!! GOD BLESS TEXAS!!!
I find this school to be a beautiful campus but the Administration allows the teachers to teach the students it is okay to hate others and it is okay to consider racism as being okay thing. Hate Crimes keep going up and no one will put a stop to it on there campus. Sad, just very sad.
I visited this campus. I've been to 47 states and traveled internationally visiting international universities. Oddly enough I didn't go to the library while here. I sensed a very strong presence of paranormal activity on the campus. I saw the bronze statue of Shirley Chisholm
They UT just pushed through state legislation that allows them to revoke your degree. Thats right they can take it back away from you after you have paid for it. At any time after the fact. For the rest of your life. With little to no chance to fight it. Have fun with that!
Amazing campus in an around the original "40 Acres". World class education and facilities with a very diverse student population. Great undergrad programs and exemplary masters and doctorate programs. Athletics are another fun pride point with Longhorns all over the world.
I am not a student at UT, but I wish I would have studied here. I love the area surrounding the campus and the campus itself is beautiful. It is fun to be in a city with a large university because the U offers so many resources and the games are fun to go to! I love UT!
Austin campus is definitely a sight to see. Some family members graduated from here in civil engineering a few years back. I have to say the spirit in football games and extra curricular activities is definitely addicting and good vibes, that I'm saying HOOK EM HORNS"!
This is one of the top public schools in the US. They have an incredible philosophy department, and they're located right in the center of downtown Austin. It's a great combination of higher learning and college experience. And the football team isn't half bad either.
Took a tour of this University when I was younger my friend Steven attended this University back in the days and is one of the famous alumni. Some of you may have heard of him his name is Steven Armstrong former senator and even tried running in 2020 for president.
Although I didn't attend college at UT I worked there for a few years. I really enjoyed my walks around campus and a few fun times at the student union. Parking is a nightmare, even if you work on the campus it's usually best to bike or ride public transit in.
As a student at UT, all I have to say is that this school is the best. All staff and professors really care for everyone on campus. Also, safety for all is priority; UT police will come to the rescue soon. What starts at UT does changes the world.
Over the years, the University of Texas at Austin has developed and built the campus into an increasingly beautiful place. There are innumerable study spots and incredible views to be found all over campus. Further, they've been working on
I love UT! I am in McCombs & the College of Natural Sciences, and my classes are interesting and informative. There are tons of clubs to join, Austin is a fun city, and UT really helps students prepare for and get a job upon graduation.
Just want to take a second to congratulate President, William Powers for not being manipulated and mired down by politics on Affirmative Action. We all know it may be time to update the program to a more current policy. I believe that
The attack on Charlottesville by a horrendous individual and the terrible group he represents was tragic and unjust. But this statue nonsense is just stupid. Yes, they're a depiction of people from a dark time in American history, but
I moved to Austin to attend the UT electrical engineering school because I love to learn. It has been a horrible experience. Most of the professors don't know how to teach and don't care. Professor quotes: " They don't care how many
The people here are incredibly racist and cannot seem to tolerate the sight of black people. I also would not recommend this school if you are from the North and a hardcore liberal. The campus climate control is out of whack.
When I visited UT I had a fantastic time! The campus is very beautiful, the students are nice, and the campus in general has so much to offer! If you for some reason go to Austin I would recommend stopping by!
UT is the school I dreamed about going to, but things didn't work out. However I'm lucky enough to have friends that go here. It's a beautiful campus and very, very large. Also, the women are beautiful.
Graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture 5 year degree. That set me up for life with many life skills, a very rich environment there to be had. I could not get this type of education anywhere else.
Excellent campus environment and students! I like UT so much. It is awesome to have a hike here in the weekend. Have a pic in front of the UT Tower is a nice choice as the end of your journey.
Extremely clean and organized, very good location in the downtown, they are hosting the best entertainment events, unfortunately the parking near by is very expensive, stair ting at $40 FYI
One of my favorite places to walk around and take photos. I like the people and the buildings. There are a couple museums as well. Beautiful fountains. A great campus.
Incredible campus! One of the best ESL programs in the nation. I learned a lot and lived one of the best years of my life in this unique university.
Great hospital!!! The are staff very nice and extremely knowledgeable, they took really great care of me and I feel like I’m on the right path now.
Great public education institution. Also a great price for the quality of education. Also I like the atmosphere (liberal and modern)
The Moody center was nice, however paying 55 dollars for parking is highway robbery!!! Absolutely no reason to charge that much!
You can walk around if you’re around. It’s a nice campus and students here are friendly. There’s a parking lot near the church.
There are an abundance of resources that promote learning and creativity! An amazing place to work.
Much better than the University of Oklahoma...lol And the women's Basketball team beat OU tonight!
World class university and faculty state of the art facilities, beautiful and amazing campus.
Beautiful campus to wander around, great design and sights to check out while in Austin.
I go to school here. Pretty okay. Classes are huge. Campus doesn't have great parking.
Nice campus. Went to see guttenberg Bible at Harry Ransom museum. Really cool.
The new legislation has me a tad bit concerned, to say the least.
Sending my daughter there, I never went to college
dream school hook em longhorns yeeee hawww
