"Wow I've been coming here for a long time"
"Very easy to navigate pet store with incredibly helpful and friendly staff"
"The store is really good but I had a small inconvenience where I have bought a dog collar at first a large size one but it was too big for my dog no problem didn’t even returned it, so I stop by again and bought a medium size instead … well it turns out that this one was too small for my English bulldog female 1 year on the dot, so here I am today looking for a collar so I asked one of the employees if I could bring my dog to measure a collar because she doesn’t have one at this moment the lady was like sure but the dog needs to be on a leash "
"Did not have a pleasant experience dealing with customer service"
"I was very disappointed in their u-wash dog area"
Wow I've been coming here for a long time. Today I tried to return 2 jackets I bought there, I had my receipt. I guess the previous person that sold them scanned the same jacket twice since they were the the same price but different jackets, well when trying to return them they said they couldn't return one of them because it wasn't the same. That's not our fault That's the fault of whoever scanned them. They were giving me slack about returning the one that wasn't on the receipt. I told them we come here all the time. So they said we'll give you store credit, took both jackets and gave us store credit for only one jacket. So they tried to take a 49.99$ jacket that we bought there and not give a refund for it. If we didn't check the receipt before we left they would have taken 49.99 from us .Not cool man. I will no longer be shopping here
Very easy to navigate pet store with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I actually decided to go to this store because of the number of great Google reviews about their service. I'm glad it's so close to Natural Grocers, Safeway and the new Target because I get to do most of my errands in the same neighborhood. It's really handy - also Trader Joes is just down the street. So handy it makes it worth navigating the challenges of 39th and Powell traffic. But I think I just figured out, from the west: pet store, Safeway, through the Safeway parking garage cross Powell and right turn into the parking lot for Natural Grocers past the gas station driving past the new living room fancy movie theatre. Just in case someone else has these same 3 stores on their errand list. ;)
The store is really good but I had a small inconvenience where I have bought a dog collar at first a large size one but it was too big for my dog no problem didn’t even returned it, so I stop by again and bought a medium size instead … well it turns out that this one was too small for my English bulldog female 1 year on the dot, so here I am today looking for a collar so I asked one of the employees if I could bring my dog to measure a collar because she doesn’t have one at this moment the lady was like sure but the dog needs to be on a leash .. at this point I thank her for the help and walkout the store I felt like she didn’t even listen to why I ask her instead of just walking in without asking
Did not have a pleasant experience dealing with customer service. I felt talked down to by the person answering my questions and in the end made to feel like a bad pet parent because I wanted to wash my 4 month old puppy who has had all vaccines except the rabies. I was eventually informed that the rabies is not required but told it was a very bad idea and they hoped there would be no "bloodshed". In the end I was totally uncomfortable and decided not to go at all and went to Fred Meyer to buy a shower head with wand to wash my puppy at home. When he outgrows my bathtub I will have have to find a better business to go to.
I was very disappointed in their u-wash dog area. There was no attendant, the floor was very wet and I walk with a cane, so it was not really safe for me to walk on the floor. There was no place to out your things, like a purse, except on the wet floor. When I carried my wet dog over to the table to dry him, it was filthy and covered in dog hair (which should have been cleaned after each use). But then I looked at the floor along the wall and it was coated in old dog hair and looked like it hadn't been mopped properly for months. Needless to say I will not be going back.
The self wash left a lot to be desired. The place I took my dog where we used to live had dozens of shampoos and conditioners to choose from, grooming tools, ear cleaning wipes, doggy cologne, bandanas, etc and was $6 cheaper. This place offered me one bottle of unscented dog shampoo, a couple of hand towel sized towels, and the use of their tub. There’s no separate drying tables so they have to stand in the wet tubs to get blow dried. This would all be fine if it was $10, but $20 to essentially just use their tub is ridiculous.
They are always very nice.only problem I have with any Petco or PetSmart lately is that they started having in-house dog trainers and sometimes those people have to walk around the shop and try to sell you their services. it can get pretty annoying but sometimes I'm able to deflect them successfully LOL What is great about PetCo Unleashed is that you can go over and spend $12 to use a dog washing station with all the shampoos and soaps you need along with towels and a dryer and everything it is amazing inconvenient
We went to Unleashed to grab a few items while dog sitting. I was impressed! Pets are allowed, but it looks and smells so clean in there. Although it's small, they have tons of toy options, and had the exact rice bone chews our friends asked us to use (rather than rawhides). The staff were sweet and even cut the tags off so the dog could play with the toy right away. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it's quite expensive.
I've shopped Petco for years but had never been to one of the Unleashed stores til the other day. The big neighborhoid Petco store had run out of my cat's favorite food. But phoning around I found this store had plenty of it. It was an easy drive, and the staff was great. I got what I needed and was in and out in a few minutes. This Petco version of a convenience store saved the day. SO glad I discovered this option!
I work for a Petco, but this one was really cute and since I was not in "uniform" I was treated as a regular customer, I did think being treated as a new pet owner with no experience was pretty cute but used it as a moment to learn from others, I do think the employee I was speaking to about cat food could work on her code switching in terms of verbage but otherwise besides my nitpicking was a great experience
I hate petcos. Terrible service. Terrible variety of products. But I have to say, unleashed by petco, they stepped up theirs game MAJORLY. Very clean and up to date. Good selection. And friendly staff. In my boyfriend’s neighborhood so the convenience factor is there. Wish their dog clothes were a little more reasonably priced but oh well I just won’t buy them from here. I’ll be back.
Despite actually liking PetSmart better, and this store being tiny, we found a lot of great items for our cat. If I had any complaint at all - the store seemed slightly understaffed. Instead of showing me where the items I came for were located, a staff member just told me generally where to find the items. But that's more about style of service than anything so no loss of rating.
Unleashed staff are helpful, friendly, and will take time to help assist, when trying to fit your pet for the appropriate sized collar, harness, kennel or bed. Their DIY dog wash has been a joy to use. They've furnished everything needed for washing and grooming your dog, even treats..and my bathroom stays clean. That's a huge win-win in my book.
This location is small, but great for picking up some last minute items. As a mobility impaired person, I've always found staff to be very helpful. Parking is also right in front and there's an access ramp. During one of my recent visits, one of the staff even went out of her way to give me tips and a bone broth recipe for my arthritic cat.
I really like what this shop offers. Great variety, very friendly and helpful staff. For a small shop, they have a great selection and very reasonable prices. Like that they have a DIY washing station for your dog as well. I don't get over to that part of town very often, but I enjoy stopping here when I get the chance.
Change your hours on Google when you change them for real. It's not hard. I have liked this store for a long time, but now can't count on it being open when it says it is. I'm a small business owner and I know staffing is hard right now. Just make the hours change on Google for your loyal customers' sake, please.
The staff are nice and friendly. I took my husky to get a bath and the facility is well cared for and clean. I didn't like the smell of the shampoo they provide but that's a personal preference. Next time I'll bring my own. It's a great deal for those of us with larger dogs who need baths. Only costs $10 per dog.
For self dog wash: Water pressure is useless, couldn't even rinse my GSD throughly, had to go home and finish getting all the shampoo out. Dryers are useless, aren't powerful enough to blow out the undercoat. Employee got in my dog's face and kissed him on top of the head - you don't do that to strange dogs.
Clean, never too busy. Employees are incredibly helpful, nice and can help you find what you need. Very knowledgeable about returns, helped me with some weird transactions. Also, these folks have helped me more than once by giving me insight into the supply chain challenges, and helping find products.
Rebecca at the Powell Store should be the standard of why people work at pet stores. Rebecca clearly loves animals and especially dogs. She was. Great help to me and my Boston Terrier finding the correct harness for walks. She also gave me some valuable insights with my dog. Rebecca is the best
Good service, but they need to update their hours on here (for both Portland locations). I've wasted fuel on multiple occasions now... It looks like their hours are now 10a-5:30p. While I typed this, I watched 3 other people try to get in, following google's posted hours. Really frustrating.
Taking my Service Dog with me to Petco is fun for both of us. The selections are great. The staff members are extremely helpful. I love being able to bath my dog with ease . The bath area has a great setup for both pet owners with disabilities and without. Excellent place for pet owners.
The store was very clean and organized. They carried all of the items that I was looking for and even some cute holiday items that I was also able to pick up. Everything was easy to find. I will definitely be visiting this store again, and I would recommend this location to a friend.
Love it here. You can bring your dogs in and give them a bath... and a hair cut if you want to. They charge a small fee but it's worth it. If you have big dogs, this will save you a mess in your bathroom. Also, there is a great selection of food brands and different pet accessories.
This is a good petstore for specialty cat and dog food and supplies and small animal supplies. However, my experience on several occasions has been that it is extremely difficult to locate help. If an associate is on the floor, they may well walk by oblivious of me as a customer!
The CUTEST clothes for my lil angel. It hard finding clothes small enough for her (3 lbs chihuahua mix) and they ways have a decent selection in stock. They have specialty foods for old dogs, young dogs, dogs w allergies, everything u could need. And the staff is super polite.
It's a small Petco. What do you want? I go there because I have to. Unfortunately it has more selection and better prices than any local shop I've found. I'd gladly shop elsewhere. Not to say the staff aren't great, they are, but really, it's a corporate chain pet food store.
Would love to see more toy options for cats. The electronic toy selection is the largest of all pet stores but the selections are still very limited. Cats require a lot more me tal stimulation then other pets yet they have the smallest amount of toy products why is that?
I don't own a pet, but I've had trouble with fleas in my apartment. When I tried a variety of flea control products, they said if the one the suggested didn't work, I could return what was left for a full refund. Turned out their suggestion worked and it was all natural!
I usually go here for all my cat and dog needs. Popped in to grab some short training leads aka training tabs.... a 6” long leash more or less and they dont carry them?! Im shocked and disappointed in my local pet store for not carrying a very common basic training item.
Petco on Powell Boulevard has a great place do it yourself Doggie wash they provide the towels and the soap also after your baby's bath they get a free cookie staff is very helpful and finding whatever you need in the store and a pretty good selection of everything pet
Why is this store so load?? tub doors, bells on door, floors, drawers... there's so many things in this store too frightened dogs, it should be the opposite at a pet store. I don't know how to change this but if I was a designer of the store, I would research better.
Dog wash closes at 7:45pm on Friday’s. Boy was I thankful to hear that and dodge a bath, although it did catch my parents by surprise. Be sure to call before in case you are headed here for a dog wash. It seemed like a lovely store, but I did not get to sniff it.
The only store I buy my pets food and supplies. The best quality food and amazing selection. Have had to find many specific diets for animals with various dietary restrictions and requirements. They also have training classes and a dog was. Very friendly staff.
Staff is cool and laid back. Lots of selection. Decent prices. Great place. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars isn't of any fault of their own....its because PetCo stopped carrying the brand of food my dog likes. But they have lots of others he's fond of.
Friendly staff. Easy access into free parking lot in front of store so you can easily unload your doggo to go inside for a self help dog wash. They have great dog washing stations and everything you need to wash your dog a lot easier than at home.
This is the type of place that you have to be aware of who you are when you walk in because if you are not somebody they think has money they will not acknowledge you or offer assistance. At one time I used to tell people, everyone I talk
I'm not in the habit of giving bad reviews unless it seems really necessary to give feedback to the company or to warn the public. I structured my whole morning around going there before work to get something that I need for my cats and
I have been bringing my two English Cockers into Unleashed on Powell each month for baths. Paying $10 to bathe each dog is a huge bargain. Raised tubs, shampoo/conditioner, dryers, towels, and the staff is so welcoming and helpful. Bucky
Lexi gave helpful advice, and directed me to the appropriate product for the solution to my problem. Chris took the time to bag the spray separately from some other food items. Efficient and friendly. I appreciated both of their help.
I love these Unleashed stores! The staff was so helpful. I had to exchange a dog leash, and they did that plus gave me recommendations on food and digestive aids. They even stayed open a little late for me. I will be back! …
Love this location. It's my go-to store for Blue Buffalo for both my cat & dog fur babies. Great staff & always helpful when I need other products for both, such as shampoos, skin treatments (my mini long-haired Chi) & treats =)
Though not as large as other pet stores, Unleashed is well stocked with all essentials and many extras for your nonhuman family members. The employees are always friendly and many have great knowledge of the products they offer.
Took Darla for first self service bath. Staff was friendly and walked me through the process. They even helped me get her in the tub. It was $15 per dog and included everything from shampoo, conditioner, towels and blow drier.
Such a wonderful staff! Our puppers 8th birthday is today and we rolled in here to get her some stuff! We walked away feeling happy and respected and we just had a really positive experience at this store! Pupper is happy too!
So friendly! They helped me find a new type of treat for my dog that she absolutely loves. Everyone at the store was nice, and were very friendly to the dogs who came into the store! My dog gets so excited when we pull up.
50/50 on if you get a super caring employee or someone who doesn’t give af. Overall though I like this store, but their shortened hours the last few months mean I can’t go. Reopen regular hours and I’ll change my rating.
Good quality dog supplies and food. I love the staff they're knowledgeable, they're helpful and they're compassionate. I never hesitate to ask for advice or what new products are best for my dog. Unleashed is awesome.
First time ever was this morning, I was in somewhat of a hurry. Person operating the store was super helpful and friendly. I randomly came here for the wash station, but will continue to visit in the future. Thanks
The lady who helped me was very very nice and she has helped me before. Her knowledge of the cat flea stuff that is locked up was not great but we figured it out together though it cost me $50 that I don't have.
Best place in SE Portland to wash your dog. The staff are always helpful the washing stations and blow dryers are always clean and get the job done! And its only $11 for you to wash, condition and dry your dog.
Their stuff tends to be more expensive than other places, but I just found out that, if that is the case, all u have to do is take a pic of the items n show it to them n they'll Price match it. Friggin AWESOME.
Awesome place for u and ur fur babies to go to get what you need for ur all around any kind animal needs!! Employees kinda tend to hover and stalk a bit but... Hmm not doing any wrong. Why let it bother at?!
Very friendly, helpful staff and clean, tidy store. I forgot my cat litter tub for a refill so I picked up a new bin. When I mentioned it to the woman behind the counter, she only charged me for a refill!
Employees are always friendly, the store is always clean, and the shelves are always stocked. Unfortunately on two occasions they have stopped stocking the food I get for my kittens. Still a great store.
Staff is amazing, especially Rebecca (their dog trainer). The prices recently took a big jump. The self bath station is a little on the high end at $15 and no longer includes the after bath scent spray.
This is a clean store, good selection of cat products and staff is always friendly. I particularly appreciated seeing a sign suggesting alternative, healthier Cat food that's actually inexpensive.
Adorable toys, easy to find balls. Friendly enough staff without being overbearing. Slightly difficult to find when I was using Google maps, maybe it is because it is just past an intersection.
The staff here is always friendly and helpful. You never get the big box feeling because of the people. Also, the dog wash station is a life saver and stocked with treats to keep the pup happy.
I don’t know what happened to this place. The last few times I’ve been there, the manager has been straight up rude. I won’t be back. Unfortunate, as I’ve been shopping here almost 10 years.
Friendly and helpful employees. I was hoping to find a reasonably priced cat perch, but they only had 2 options--both of which were north of $100. Aside from that, everything I needed.
Lots of free treats, take-home samples and attention for my puppy. Great selection of grain free, quality food. The chewables selection is super varied and one of the best in the city.
It's a great smaller location in inner SE and it's never busy. People are friendly there and they have a great selection of doggie apparel. My gal looks so cute with her dress on :)
Great little store to go to for wet catfood. When all the bigger stores shelves are empty, which seem to almost always be the case these days, this place is generally well stocked.
Inconsistent store hours, almost never open when I visit. 7/23/2023 store says open until 7, locked doors at 5 pm. I would call ahead before driving here, don’t waste your time.
Service is great, I don't get food here because I think there are better local places to grab better brands but I do shop their essentials like litter, brushes, leashes, treats.
The people who work here are kind and knowledgeable. They remembered the name of my cat when I was desperate to find her food while she was sick. Absolutely love this business.
I appreciate having this store in the neighborhood. The staff has always been helpful and considerate. Last time they even searched for a price match saving me $5. Thank you!
This is our go to pet shop and self wash. They have what we need and the size is reasonable. I also did a training course here. I blame my dog's lack of progress on me alone.
Great space with nice staff! Stuff is priced a bit high, but I think they're trying to get a higher-end clientele in this spot. There is stuff on sale if you're on a budget.
Great place. Always well organized and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Wont give them 5 starts until they offer better programs for buying specific dog foods regularly.
Not a bad place if you only need stuff for your dog. I don't have a dog. I have a cat. They do have a cat section but mostly for food and litter. They need more cat toys.
I love this store and there staff! The manger bends over backwards to help you out! Always a pleasure shopping at this location! :) thanks again for a great experience!
The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful for recommending products. They have bulk dog treats, a self pet washing station, and tons of toys and products.
Honestly I'm not really a petco fan, but it's a nice location. Staff is polite, wide variety of pet necessities, and the people in the store always have cute dogs!
Love the DIY dog bathing. Really easy and very clean. They move in right after a bath and clean the tubs. Easy to get the pups in and out of, even for slow movers.
didn't have the cat pheromone spray i was looking for but had "calming spray" which looks like it without the active ingredient. not as overpriced as Petsmart, tho
Nice staff, but days open vary and like many stores these days, shelves are often empty of many types of food. I do love the cat litter container refill station.
These staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. A very enjoyable atmosphere. Clean and a great place for shopping and services. I'm so happy I found this place.
Answered my question in a timely fashion and I easily found my item after. I'm only been here once but I love it- then again, I love all pet/dog stores. …
Love the dog wash station with the fixed leashes. It saves me from the hassle of a wet dog running all around my place when he eventually gets out of my grasp.
They don't have a bunch of stuff but they have the basic necessities it is a small store the employees are very helpful and knowledgeable of where items are
Love the staff at the Powell Unleashed! Always friendly and smiling underneath their masks.great selection of cat food and sundry items for our senior boy.
I was under the impression they would have better "heathy" options for my cat dog or ferret- they didn't have what they normally eat (gluten free, no peas)
Super friendly customer service, pretty big space to stay safe and keep your distance. I like the rewards program and discounts they have in the store.
Online says open till 5:30 door says open till 5:30 I left work early and got there at 5 but doors were locked and now I don’t have cat food. Thanks…
Love the diy dog wash....I have a larger dog, and usually use 2 bottles of shampoo, never a problem. Staff is fantastic and ALWAYS very helpful.
Live in the neighborhood and get most of Lucy's goods here. They are super nice and have a dog wash area and training classes. Great local spot.
I've began buying more food and other items online. But, when I need something now, they're helpful and the products I need are always stocked.
The staff is always super helpful and knowledgeable about your fur babies in general. Awesome discount rack. Love their pupper doggo clothes.
My favorite always helpful Jane vsnderberg Sam vernachio. Like bed it in Reno no and Wilsonville Oregon Sam and Jane best friends since 1992
Really friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. Still on the pricey side, but they often have good sales with a reasonable return policy.
Convenient, essentially a small Petco. Prices are decent, and they do the Petco points and coupons. Good selection of cat/dog necessities.
Stopped in to get a custom dog tag. Employees were friendly. The dog tag machine is fascinating. Just follow the step by step directions.
Super helpful staff with a pretty wide selection of products. Their trainer Rebecca is super helpful and did wonders with us and our dog!
I wish i would have grabbed her name but the gal that just helped us was awesome and helpful with tons of knowledge about their products!
Small but friendly place. More dog items than cats it seems. However a good enough selection that I can get what I need. Pleasant staff.
I loved it my dog loved it we will be back every 6 weeks thanks for having services like that it makes a big difference in my budget.
I love this particular store...the manager ROCKS and they go out of their way to make sure you're happy... Keep up the great work...
I love this place with its friendly and knowledgeable staff. My dogs receive royal treatment every time i take them shopping there!
