With numerous vehicle purchases and transactions over the years, some horrible and some terrific, this transaction was surprisingly seamless and smooth, albeit with a couple of timely strokes of luck that helped move the action forward. I had already decided on another vehicle purchase based on a solid relationship with the brand and dealership, and the manner in which I was personally treated over the years. I was getting a Safety Certificate for a vehicle I was purchasing (which I later used as a trade at UJT) at the tire service centre next door. Having known some of those fellows at the tire centre from past dealings, I talked with them about the makes of vehicles they see the most (and least). This precipitated a walk next door to UJT. Bit of luck #1. Five minutes of a wait (I expected much more) and I was greeted by Mitch Sherman. Mitch instantaneously made me feel at ease and not under pressure. We realised that we had common interests and people who we knew from our football high school days, and this banter was important in our finding common ground and building trust. I think transparency was key at this point because I had done my homework on the vehicle type and class I was looking for, and I told Mitch about the order I had placed on my first choice comparable vehicle at the other brand dealership with an end of October delivery. And Mitch was upfront about the long wait for a Toyota new build - the best he could offer was a twelve to eighteen months wait for a delivery. When Mitch and I met again the next day, he introduced to me a different vehicle I had not previously considered which was closer to my current ride in fuel consumption (a top feature for me in selecting a vehicle). But still the very long wait for a vehicle made it impossible to do business. Then Natasha Veinotte, Sales Manager, came forward as she had identified two unclaimed vehicles in the new class (Corolla Cross Hybrid) with an October delivery and at a lower cost to me. Bit of luck #2. So it was a no brainer. The deal was done - reputation endorsement from external mechanics, rapport built with Mitch and his understanding of my top buying features and his recommendations, and then an eleventh-hour miraculous discovery of an unclaimed vehicle by Natasha. Mitch telephoned me in mid-September stating the vehicle was coming sooner than expected, and in the end I received it early! On delivery day, Christina Sombounkhanh served as my terrific Delivery Specialist. She did a great, efficient job talking and walking me through the finalities of the transaction, and taking the time to set up the Toyota App with me and demonstrating how the on-board electronics, etc. all worked. Without that personal attention I would have been wasting personal time; I appreciated her set-up and demo. In the end, Mitch made the deal easy to take because of his candor, truthfulness, timely follow-up without the pressure, and his appreciation for us doing business (by sending me his personal thank-you video(s)). He even worked in a discount of sorts to offset Toyota Canada's lack of a Veteran discount programme as some of its competitive brands offer. My observation of the people I interacted with at UJT was that they work in a real team environment, with for me, Mitch quarterbacking the players so that things happened when they were supposed to, and in a timely manner. Thanks again Mitch, and Christina, and Natasha (and a shout-out to Lory in Finance who walked me through the options and add-ons over the telephone without pressure and with a cheery demeanor).

Hands down, one of the best experiences I've had purchasing a used vehicle. After a few frustrating weeks of searching for a car, I had the utmost pleasure of meeting Rick Neufeld at Upper James Toyota. His only objective was to make certain that my experience was stress-free and that my search ended there. His carefree approach and genuinely empathetic demeanor put me at such ease that I immediately trusted Rick. I ended up purchasing a 2018 RAV 4 that we just love! Papers signed, deal made, Rick continued to jump through hoops to get me into my new purchase as soon as possible, as I was going on week 3 of a rental car. They expedited my pick up date given my situation but that had to be pushed back a couple of days as there was a small chip in the windshield that was discovered during the safety. Albeit, my car passed the safety, but Toyota wasn't having any part of that. They replaced my windshield at a loss for them. Rick also provided me with the previous owners snow tires, that was not in the original package. Again, going above and beyond after the sale has already been made! Pick up day, lovely, Christina Sombounkhanh (Delivery Specialist) finalized everything and went over the features in the car, explaining what each function was and even paired this dinosaurs phone to it's Bluetooth. Once the tutorial was over and Christina was about to exit my car and I was about to put it in drive, she noticed that the gas tank was inadvertently not topped up. I don't know if this is a standard with all dealerships when selling a used car, but it certainly is one of Upper James Toyota. All cars are gased up for the new owners. Once again, going above and beyond! My only regret when dealing with Toyoya was, I didn't meet Rick 3 weeks earlier! I cannot recommend this dealership and Rick enough! Stop searching and give Rick a call, he/Toyota will not disappoint!!

This dealership got my business a couple months ago for an oil+filter change on my Lexus. I always go to Toyota dealerships for it. I recently went to do my oil change myself (as I have done dozens of times) and the oil filter casing was tightened so much, it bent my tool that grasps it to remove it (breaking it). I have never had to use anywhere near this level of force to remove it. I brought my car back in for them just to loosen it for me, and I was told this has NEVER happened before, the mechanic has 30+ years of experience, and that my tool was poor-quality (I didn't even argue any of this, I just let it go with a smile). I'm not an expert with cars, but I know when something has been horribly overtightened. That error, and the inability to accept responsibility was very off-putting. To top it off, the guy at the service counter was snippy with me when I just asked to make sure there was no charge for them loosening the oil filter for me, where he replied "did I say there was going to be a charge?" in an arrogant, rude tone that made me uncomfortable. At no point did I feel I was being a hostile or rude customer to deserve that response, and I even immediately apologized for being 1 minute late for my appointment upon entry. I just personally have had better experiences at other dealerships.

Came in this morning @ 9AM with my 4Runner for transmission fluid service. New to the city, I was looking for a dealership to service my truck. Booked this appointment 3 weeks ago and came in today for them tell me they did not have any fluid in stock. Understood - but why didn’t anyone bother to reserve x quantity or have the decency to inform me before I decided to take a day off work? I decided to try make the most of this day and just get an oil change instead. 10AM is now approaching and they still haven’t even taken my car in (I arrived at 8:45am). I just took my keys and walked out after the guy at the service desk told me I wouldn’t be able to find transmission fluid anywhere because mine is on “back order everywhere. Even if I go somewhere else I won’t find it”. Naturally, I called Red Hill Toyota immediately and unbeknownst to me, they are somehow affiliated or at least have the same booking staff. I informed Karen of exactly what happened and she was compassionate and checked to see if there was transmission fluid in stock and in fact there was. Thankfully, she got me in for Friday. Upper James lacks any sort of effort to resolve issues that are of their own doing but the coffee is decent. If I could leave 0 stars, I would.

I am utterly dismayed by the deplorable service I received at the Toyota dealership on October 27, 2023, for my 2020 Toyota Camry. The service included a seasonal tire swap and alignment, yet as soon as I left the dealership, I noticed a serious issue with the vehicle, causing it to pull to one side. My attempts to contact the service team and the individual responsible for my case were met with sheer negligence. Despite leaving voicemails and making repeated calls on both Saturday and Monday, I received no response. When I decided to visit the dealership in person on November 1, 2023, I was met with further disappointment. Not only did they lack the courtesy to inspect the vehicle on the spot, but they also had the audacity to suggest that I should return on November 21, a full 20 days after my initial visit. This is beyond comprehension. Why should a problem that arose on the day of the service be deferred for 20 days? I am utterly appalled by the excuses and procrastination I have encountered. This level of incompetence and disregard for customer satisfaction is unacceptable, especially from a reputable Toyota dealership. This experience has severely tarnished my perception of Toyota's commitment to customer care.

I recently purchased a 2023 Toyota Corolla Hatchback from Upper James Toyota and was blown away by the quality of the customer service. Anthony Tee and Adam Harrison (among a few others) were very friendly, very professional and very personable. Anthony went above and beyond to make the process of purchasing my first brand new car as seamless as possible. A google review does not do this man justice he really works his butt off at this dealership. Adam Harrison did an excellent job at explaining everything, he made sure we were fully aware of exactly what's happening. When the day came to pick up my car and I was late to the appointment Adam stayed late just to see the look on my face when I finally got the car. The team at the dealership is very unique (the good kind of unique), not to mention the team is just as (if not more) reliable as the cars the sell. I'd give them more stars if I could. Seriously, if you need a Toyota, get it from Upper James Toyota.

Excellent experience with our sales rep Anthony from Upper James Toyota. He was very helpful and processed all of our paperwork ahead of time. Anthony also worked very collaboratively with our insurance broker. The day we came to pick up our vehicle was extremely smooth as well. 3 stars though because our experience with the financing department was not the best. The entire financing meeting felt very rushed almost as to cover up the pricing and costs of additional coverage we were being asked to purchase - as if we were being pushed to sign without having the chance to ask questions. Ultimately we left without signing the agreement, went home to think about it and came back feeling more prepared and informed. Ultimately, do your own research so you know what you are paying for and don’t let the feeing of being overwhelmed and rushed to make a quick decision just to sign papers on the spot.

I had my car for oil change, when I was picking up my car i saw my right side mirror was damaged. They said they will fix it for me which is a great thing but after calling them frequently it took almost 6-7 week to get just right side mirror which I waited fine with that as well now today I dropped my car and said they will give it to me tomorrow because of some complicated wiring for which they offered me a car to drive. Now, they want my insurance company to cover the car until my car is fixed which is not good, I don’t know how the car is or what the car history is they asked my insurance policy number and my declaration that if anything happens to my car my insurance company will be responsible and so on! They never told me on call anything about this and now I have a taxi to go home. Waste of time and not helpful.

I had an outstanding experience purchasing my 2023 GR86 from Upper James Toyota! My sales advisor Anthony Tee was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating during the entire process. He was proactive about a few items too, including whether or not I wanted the technicians to mount the front license plate to the bumper or if I was planning to use a tow hook mount. I'm glad he asked, as I was planning to use a tow hook mount for the front plate, and drilling into the front bumper is irreversible. Even after delivery, he's checked in with me to ensure that I'm happy with the car. When discussing financing with Lory, she was very low-pressure and accommodating to my requests, which I appreciated. Overall I've had a fantastic experience with the team at Upper James Toyota, and I'd highly recommend them!

Recently i bought a 2023 highlander hybrid from this dealership. I had a very good experience with toyota beacuse I switched from honda to toyota. Now i am driving this vehicle and i can tell that nobody can compete toyota in reliability and quality, one of the best hybrid system. This is a 7 seater Suv gives me 14 km combined on highway and in city. The guy Anyhony Tee has been very kind and a professional. He has so many customers to buy this vehicle but as i was the first customer he gave me priority and even waited for me to get my finance done from a third party. I appreciate you to hold that vehicle for me. The best service ever. Thank you MR Anthony Tee for making this happen otherwise there is minimum 2 years wait time to get this vehicle. Thank you

My husband and I would like to give a big thumbs-up to the general manager, Jason Mladen at UJT for his professionalism, compassion and efficiency! We experienced some issues when we were planning to have our snow tires installed. When Jason learned about it, he called us 5 times and wrote a few emails in one day to communicate with us, and made the best efforts and tried all means to solve the problem. On the day we requested, the snow tires we wanted were nicely installed at a very reasonable price. The Service Advisor Kevin Levy was also very friendly, efficient and problem solving oriented on the day of the installment! We would absolutely recommend the UJT team to our friends and other people who have the same need!

I've dealt with a few dealerships in my life, but this experience was hands-down the best yet. Mitch Sherman was the sales person I dealt with and he was awesome. Throughout the process he continuously kept us up to date on the order status of our vehicle. Upper James Toyota is head and shoulders above some of the other Toyota dealerships we visited. Unlike some dealerships they were up front and realistic with the wait times for our vehicle, offered a refundable down payment and did not play any games such as hiking the dealership fees on delivery. I just recently purchased a car from Upper James Toyota and the experience was 5 stars. I traded my old car in and while they where checking it over for a few days (as it was a German car they wanted to send it off to another mechanic shop who specialized in European cars) they gave me a free loaner car so I could continue my life with working, making appointments, ect… Tiffany was the sales rep that helped me and she was amazing. She worked off the clock to make sure all my needs were met and I could tell she genuinely cared about my needs and wants for my next vehicle. I was so disappointed with my visit this time!! My '21 Rav4 was there in April with absolutely no issues. All was routine. At that time I had a 4 wheel alignment as I was switching to my summer tires that were put on new rims. Now in August I was told to have another alignment as there was abnormal wear on my tires? I also needed new brake fluid and of all things, an engine shampoo. Now I am left feeling like this was a total effort to uncharge my bill. Not a good feeling at all. I have now lost Confidence in your dealership. I was very happy to just keep coming to the dealer for service as I felt it would be the best course of looking after my new car. Not anymore. We had been searching for a particular make and model of Lexus and were surprised to see that a Toyota dealer in Hamilton had just what we were looking for. I first went in May 2023 to look at a vehicle and to apply for financing. Unfortunately I could not get financing with any institutions. Tiffany Herron was the sales associate I dealt with. I promised her when I had the cash to buy a vehicle outright that I would come back and use her as my sales person. I made this promise to her back in May because she did a lot of paperwork to try to get me the financing. If you want someone who is attentive and has a great personality and knowledge of the vehicles they sell. Take my advice, look for her on the sales floor. I'm excited for my Rav4 SE.

Ordered a 2022 Rav 4 and signed a purchace agreement with a price on it. Six months later a car comes in and its a 2023 model year car. The finance manager calls and says that since its a 2023 its considered an upgrade and its going to be an extra 1500 and says do you still want the car? Well what the heck do you think?! I have been waiting for 6 months for it! So basically they extorted me and my wife. They could have very easily honoured the price we agreed to for what is literally the same car Completely soured the deal. Great salesmen, scummy finance manager.

Much appreciation for Kevin Levy and Upper James Toyota! Our RAV 4 passenger window was smashed and required replacement. The part was back ordered and ultimately took a few weeks to arrive. (Something that was out of the dealership's control.) Throughout the time he supported us by providing updates on the ETA, communicating with our insurance company, providing a temporary fix for the window and ultimately scheduling us in the same day the part arrived. Window successfully installed and final clean up done and we are back on the road. Thanks again!

I came in for I believe a maintenance #3 appointment. Dan was so friendly and went out of his way - he noticed a mark on the side of my passenger side door right away and was able to fix it all up. Dan assessed my car and called me to have a few things done that were necessary given I’d been driving my new Rav for a year. Dan was happy to assist me in getting home and back by arranging the cab for me. He was very attentive and made me feel taken care of.
